This was our second time at the restaurant. The space is very cute--decor is nicely done with a cool vibe. Service wasn't great, but it didn't seem to be for lack of trying. The staff was friendly, just a bit disorganized and slow. The food is definitely tasty. They describe the menu as small and large bites, but just be aware that even the "large" portions are pretty small. We were a party of four, had two drinks each, and our bill came out to around $500 with tip. It felt a bit pricey, considering that we left hungry. Don't waste your money here. Won't waste my time on a lengthy review since the owners clearly don't take criticism well based on the comments . My bf and I have tired this place 4 times, each hoping for improvement but never finding it. The employees are so rude, they price gauge like crazy and they don't even know how to make the cocktails on the menu. Tonight I was charged almost $60 for 2 drinks after being told we "need to drink fast" since they were closing soon. So ridiculous. We were there for a total of 14 minutes. This is a chic little bar in Ramsey. They serve a fine cocktail but at NYC prices. I am a fan of a fancy craft cocktail, but I do think $19 per drink is steep price. 3.5 ... I was a little disappointed by our visit to Bar Boutique. It was highly recommended by a friend, so my husband and I visited 6pm on a Thursday night. The place was relatively empty and service was still a bit slow. The bartenders were on their phones a lot behind the bar, which I think is crazy for the ambiance of a place that tries so hard to be so classy. The seating is also incredibly tight. The booth tables are very small and very close together. The bathroom was very clean. The hand drier was very cool and worked well. The drinks are cute and tasty, but for $19 per drink, I feel like you should be able to detect alcohol in the drink. We tried 3 of their cocktails between my husband and I, and all were delicious but we could have been drinking fancy juice because there was zero hint of alcohol in them and we didn't feel any different. The food is really good for upscale bar food. I loved the sauce that came with the crab cakes - we used it on the filet mignon bites too and it was perfect. The chicken dumplings have a thai chili sauce under them that has some kick to it. The lava cake was okay, but the Gelato on top was icy and not as creamy as we would have liked. Overall, we think this place is perfect if you want to split a bottle of wine and have some elegant bar food. I wouldn't go back for cocktails. Happy hour is Mon - Weds. Cocktails drop down to $12 and they have 15% off bottles of wine. I think we'll be exclusively happy hour patrons. read more

there is no denying that this bar is beautifully done. It has a wonderful selection of bourbons as well as other liquors. I especially enjoyed their wine selection. As their wine by the glass menu had some nice selections, they had a display of special wines where you can order three different sizes. The wines within was a beautiful range from various parts of the world and whites and reds. The owner who poured the wines smelled and tastes before serving insuring they were of the highest quality. As I am huge critic of service and have visited this establishment a few times i find that the bartenders or at least the ones i have sat with are lacking the personality of a bartender. The bartender never asked me how tej wines were, never offered water, never engaged. The customers next to me asked for water twice before he poured them a glass. He spent more time leaning against the back bar eating crackers. I was greeted by an extremely helpful waiter. I even went to tip him for helping me and didn't want it. Bartender, making drinks, is simple, engaging with customers, make them feel welcome, talk to them. As a bartender for 40 plus years, it aches me to leave these guys a tip. read more

Stopped in on a Saturday afternoon for happy hour cocktails (well, we actually missed happy hour by 5 minutes, but you get the idea). Love the vibe, staff was so wonderful, and the wine selection was nice. They're a retail wine store as well as a bar, but slightly different from a regular liquor store. You can buy a bottle of wine to drink on site, but rather than the crazy markup in your average bar or restaurant, they deeply discount the bottles and just charge a $25 corking fee. Cute vibe at NYC prices for drinks and food. The bartenders were friendly and attentive for the private party I attended. I knew going in that it was going to be an expensive night. Cocktails ran $19 each, tapas sized apps $15-36. Worth paying for a really good cocktail, but the apps were too small to charge those prices. The crabcake was listed as "crabcakes" on the menu, but only 1 was served and costed $19. Tasty food but overpriced. We tried the shrimp tempura, tuna tartare with edible spoons, and crabcake. The cocktails I got included maid in Mexico, short squeeze and finished a friends espresso-tique. My favorite was the short squeeze. After 4 cocktails and 3 apps between 2 of us, we decided we needed to cut ourselves off from spending any more. The bill ended up being $160 after tips. read more

The overall aesthetic of wine bar is absolutely beautiful. It feels like a 1920's speakeasy with dim lighting and beautiful decor. However, when I went with my friends, we were very rushed. I am on the fence about this place. In the end you have some small bites and a few drinks and it's a bit expensive. I will say when I look at the menu I want to order everything- and we shared quite a bit (party of 4). We had guacamole and chips, chorizo bites, asian dumplings, lettuce wraps, filet mignon bites, and brisket sliders. All so good! But it's mostly small plates even though they call some large bites - we all got one of each plate. They really get you on the drink prices and the inside seating is very tight. The service was not a 4 as we did not have a consistent waitstaff. I'm in between a 3 and a 4 so I'll lean on the nicer side. What a disappointing experience. We were so excited to finally try this place and it fell so flat. We got a table outside, which was the busiest area. After the hostess sat us we waited over 20 minutes to order drinks. We were never offered water. There was no apology or acknowledgement of the wait time. We could tell the table next to us was having a similar issue with waiting long times for refills and to order food. The hostess even came back over to make sure we had ordered. The drinks did come out quickly but they were subpar at best. $19 for a drink?? This isn't Manhattan. It's not even Hoboken. If you're going to charge that amount at least make them GOOD. The barrel aged boulevardaire tasted so disgusting. It was way too strong, you couldn't taste the vermouth or Orange bitters. The Espresso-tique, aka espresso martini (that's even what the server called it when she brought it over) lacked flavor. They tried to over complicate a simple drink. We then waited to get our check and then for the waiter to take the card and run it. Another gentleman, who appeared to be the manager, took the card to run. Never said thank you, asked how everything was. This place wasn't busy. There was maybe two tables inside and everyone else seated outside. Over all, I would never go back here. Came here for a birthday and loved the cute NYC style ambiance with recessed lighting and chandeliers. The cocktails were outstanding! I hadn't eaten yet (I am such a lightweight with alcohol!) so I only tasted everyone's cocktails; the espresso martini and elderflower (I think that's what it was?) martini were both so yummy and not too sweet. What an amazing spot! It's certainly a first of it's kind in the area. A literal boutique bar, that makes specialty cocktails and has quite an extensive wine list (glass and bottle). It's a cozy spot with plenty of seats outdoors including heat lamps for cooler nights. They also serve small plates of food to pair with drinks. With a gorgeous cocktail and wine list, their food lives up to the same hype. I've been twice now with some girlfriends and plan to be back with the husband for date night, but something about it screams "girls night out!" about this place for me. Soooo laaadiiiesssss, don't hesitate to get done up and go out and have some fun! The service both times was very good, the type of service that will pickup your cardigan if it's sliding off of your chair and will make sure they ask about another round right before your drink finishes. I'm on the cusp of a 5 star review however, and it pains me to keep them at 4 but here's how the evening started; booked a reservation for 7:45pm and didn't sit until 8:30pm. We were offered a seat at the bar as of 8:20, and didn't get our drinks until they moved us to a seat at 8:30. I had to ask to put in a drink order while we waited as well. Admittedly, we were happy to be there and it wasn't a fuss. They had their 1 year anniversary dinner which is understandable for the bit of chaos for sure! I'm just a bit disappointed they didn't service us or ask to service us for a drink while we waited and that our reservation basically meant, "we'll get you in but didn't actually hold a seat for you." Simply put, it's a reality to consider for anyone who would have booked it as a pre-dinner spot for apps and a cocktail. But I mean, who are we kidding, we really enjoyed ourselves. Really nice bar!! My boyfriend and I were here for drinks this weekend and had a nice time! It was our first time coming to this bar. Because it was a last minute idea to come here, we didn't make reservations and did have to wait a bit for bar seating which was understandable and doable. The ambiance here was really really nice, I was under the impression that it wouldn't be a packed bar and definitely didn't expect it being so modern. I was caught by surprise on the music selection as well, they had really great music mostly the mainstream music that you find on the radio which I most certainly appreciated and enjoyed! To the drinks - WOHOO My boyfriend ordered the Barrel Aged Boulevardier which he enjoyed very much as it had great flavor and was very strong! He felt as though he definitely got his money's worth! I ordered the Maid in Mexico mainly because it looked so aesthetically pleasing to the eye LOL! Not only was my drink visually eye catching but it was also REALLY delicious! Definitely remind me of when I was in Tulum, the nostalgia :( I really got the taste of the passionate fruit throughout my entire drink which I really loved since I am a huge fan of fruity and fresh drinks! Would most certainly recommend! I wanted to highlight that this review is solely for the drinks, unfortunately we did not order any food items! Nice trendy bar with a large selection of wine and liquors. The place is small and can feel a bit tight with your neighboring dinners but I guess that is good for mingling. Don't get me wrong, it isn't a pub scene here. It has a bit more upscale quieter atmosphere more like a wine bar. The space is cozy but not intimate, there is a constant sort of activities going on with patrons and wait staff walking down the aisle, and the staff washing and cleaning dishes and utensils at the end of the bar. This brand spankin' business is a fun and unique concept that has just opened in the Ramsey area!! Wine bar meets retail store with small bites is the perfect compliment for those nearby BYOB restaurants or a hangout with friends. Enjoy a before or after dinner drink in their Manhattan chic lounge. They offer a collection of wines, spirits, specialty cocktails and craft beers. Small bites bites are also available (although I have try, I'm looking forward to them and will update when I do). The retail store offers a vast array of wines (3,000 according to their website) with prices ranging from $12 to $1,000. I deducted one star for a few reasons. Because they are so new, they are attracting lots of attention and it can be hard/have a long wait to get a table or seat at the bar due to their small interior. They do offer you to put your name on a waitlist and will text you when there is availability. They also try to limit parties to 90 minutes, as stated on their website, due to the small size and demand. Bartenders are very friendly, but I did notice one can get overwhelmed easily and not remember who their customers are if they move from their original seat. Lastly, I'm a rosé snob and would love to see more than one on the "by the glass" menu. Hopefully these minor nuances work themselves out once the place becomes more established. In the meantime, it won't keep me away from enjoying this new place that is so close to home! read more

I was super excited to try Bar Boutique and finally had the chance to make it in. I was, unfortunately, very disappointed. The food and drink were very overpriced, even by NYC standards. You can expect to pay $19 for a mixed drink, $36 for a charcuterie plate, etc. It took us about 20 minutes to get our drinks after we ordered and I really didn't like mine due to the bitter aftertaste. We ordered guac and chips to munch on, which didn't taste great but was actually reasonably priced at $15. The bar itself is beautiful and very Instagram-y. We were very excited to try this restaurant for our dinner. We decided to try this new place since I found it online. My friend from Ramsey and Ridgewood joined me. It was a slow quiet night which was fine for fine for us but now I know why and why we will not be returning customers. Pro: nice wine glasses. Cons: the price is ridiculous for the food and wine. I go to many other places for wine and apps, dinner etc and don't recall ever feeling so ripped off before. There is a 25 dollar charge to open their own wine!!! Insane. We had the chicken dumplings (4) and charcuterie board plus 6 glasses of wine between the three of us. We also shared the lava cake, served with vanilla gelato, which was awesome. Plot twist - they don't have a kitchen, but source all the food from local businesses and plate it for use! So.. we know where the lava cake came from! Their wines and Prosecco are great. Their kitchen seems super tiny - maybe that's why local businesses seem to supply their one bites. I can not be certain. Overall a very pleasant experience at Bar Boutique. My party ordered a variety of different cocktails which were all delicious and generously poured. I personally ordered the Her Majesty which was a gin based drink with a lavender and rosemary syrup. It was very well balanced and managed to be flavorful without leaving a sickeningly sweet aftertaste. Though pricey, the drinks really are a special treat. I'm going to disagree with most of these reviews. This is the perfect place for a midweek date night. My husband and I enjoyed dinner at home and then went to Bar Boutique for snacks and drinks. I let the bartender, Jackie, pick my drinks and she did not disappoint. First I started with her favorite drink, a Negroni, which I had never tried. She let me taste the Campari, which was a nice touch because I didn't know what I was getting into. However my second drink was not on the menu and it was a something she'd made earlier in the day. It had a taste of pine and she smoked the rosemary that was a garnish in my glass. This drink was phenomenal, and probably one of the best mixed drinks I've ever had. We enjoyed the charcuterie board as we sipped drinks. I didn't feel rushed, it's wasn't overly crowded, and although they have expensive drinks the staff was fantastic and it was worth every penny. This place was packed when we got here they got my wife and I some drinks while we waited for a seat. The service was friendly. The food was delicious and fresh (specifically the tuna tartar). We sat outside. Waited 10 minutes for waitress - we were one of 3 tables in the entire place. Ordered drinks, apps and water. Chicken tacos & guacamole came in 30 seconds. Teeny chicken tacos in a crunchy shell. Same shell given for guacamole. Next hummus - 2 carrots & a few more shell like triangles and meatballs came. Still no wine, no water. We asked waitress. 2 minutes pass, 5 minutes. So now we have all our food but not one drink on the table. Finally we go into the bar for our drinks. Wine was nice but so pricey.! Food was horrific. 3 separate plates had the same "cracker/taco" along with it. Meatballs tasted like rubber. We were 3 ppl and our bill was over $200 - um what??????
