The pie was loaded with ingredients. I especially liked the crumbled sausage (as opposed to large random chunks) and the dollops of tomato sauce throughout the pie. It does have a thicker crust than your typical pizzeria but the crust was crunchy, while still remaining soft and airy. This may be the best pie I've eaten in a while, especially since the structure had the integrity to hold up all those toppings - it wasn't soggy at all, like a lot of pies with that many toppings tend to be. We did eat it at the pizzeria though, fresh out of the oven, so that probably helped. Prices are reasonable too. A regular slice is only $3. I'm just sad that we don't live closer. We just happened to be in the neighborhood running errands and we found Turvino's. If I'm ever in the area again, I'm definitely going to check out some of their other pies. It was nicely cooked with a thin crust and the right amount of char on it. We ordered iced teas with it, no alcohol because it was a work day, but everything was good and our waiter was quick to refill our glasses. Glasses. She was extremely pleasant and checked in with us often. This was a good place to go on a rainy day and enjoy some time out. I think it's a good place for groups who want to get together for pizza. I'm not usually a chain fan but this was pretty good.

Instead of just asking what we'd actually want to watch, he put on baseball -- never asked, never checked in, just picked something and moved on to chat with what looked like regulars at the bar. It came across like our comfort wasn't really a concern once he'd "handled" it. Service issues aside, the real letdown was the attitude. As I was leaving and pushing in my barstool, a waiter dropped a can and some silverware near my feet. I told him not to worry about it, nothing got on me -- and the manager, who was nearby chatting with another regular, chimed in with a dismissive "no harm, no foul." Not exactly the tone you want from someone managing customer relationships. The food is fine, but the way this manager handled two small, easily fixable moments left a bad taste. A little more attentiveness and basic customer service awareness would go a long way here.

The pizza on display looked super fresh and it indeed WAS. We ordered a White slice, Margherita slice, Cheese slice and Buffalo chicken slice. Verdict? Let's just say, I SEE you Francesca. Solid pizza, very fresh and didn't taste like it was sitting around at all - like some slice shops. We especially absolutely loved the Margherita - it was delicious with a good tang to it from the tomato sauce. All of the other slices were good too, but the Margherita was definitely our favorite. Besides the great pizza, the staff were super friendly and didn't even make us pay when we got our food. A rarity these days and, in some ways, sort of a throwback to old pizza shops, but we paid after we ate. In an odd way, it made me feel good about being here - like reliving my past days roaming around the outer NYC boroughs and grabbing a quick slice at a shop. To wrap it up, DEFINITELY will be coming back for more slices - and even a whole pie!
