We had been to Beholder at least once before and loved it. However, something has changed. We loved it two cocktails and 2/3 appetizers (squash carpaccio, fresh tomato salad with miso mayo). The beef tostada turned out to be made of sliced beef tongue. Surprise! The duck pork burger was good. The flat iron steak was unseasoned, not tender, and not served very hot. Not worth $65. The manicotti with braised lamb shoulder was under seasoned too and served in a soup of oil. Peaches and Cream was delicious, but peaches were shredded and a bit scant. More cream and peaches. Service excellent! Ambiance nice too.

This is a great local spot in downtown Indy. The ambiance was very cool, the staff was friendly, and the food was delicious! Everything tasted very fresh and high quality, the burger was incredible! The menu was small but I believe they change the menu often and have specials each Wednesday and Thursday; so I'm excited to go back and try something new! I would recommend making a reservation, as I went on a Wednesday night and they had a significant wait time for walk-ins, but we had a reservation and they had a table ready for us right on time!

TL;DR: SO. GOOD. EAT. HERE. Ordered: - Oysters: delicious and fresh. I forget which ones but they were perfectly balanced between briny and sweet - Cabbage salad: wow this was a sleeper. The crispiness of the cabbage and the crunchiness of the toppings played so well together. - Steak and mash: Nothing spectacular but can't go wrong at all - McRib special: I loved that Beholder's take on the McRib was so heavy on onions and pickles. That said, if that's not your thing, maybe skip Gotta love a restaurant that serves nice plates but keeps you grounded with shot and a beer combos to remind you of your roots Will 100% be back to hit the tasting menu Cheers, Beholder!

Had reservations at the Chef's counter for dinner. Server was a 10/10! Recommended the Last Word cocktail since I enjoy mezcal. The winning dishes by far were the Carpaccio of Summer Squash (which was bursting with flavor from the toasted hazelnuts and lemon oil) and the delicately balanced flavors of the Ginger Tumeric Kanpachi Sashimi...Yum! Would not order the hamachi collars again and the bone marrow fries weren't anything special for $17. The Black Bass came with 2 scallops and was also not something worth ordering again, especially with a $61 price tag. The dark chocolate ice cream dessert was creamy and not too sweet, but very simple.

Came here for a birthday dinner and everything was so fresh and delicious. I really like the creativity in the dishes and how each piece of the meal comes together. Beautiful inside and we got pictures in front of their wine cellar. We had such a good time!

It's interesting to see something along the lines of fine dining on 10th street but even more impressive once you walk in. The vibe is quaint, super cool that you can see the kitchen while you're seated. Drinks were amazing, one of the best cocktail menus out there for sure. I went burger but wish I had not. The menu is fairly simple they give you only so many options but each has its own execution. Burger had a literal inch slice of cheese on it and a large amount of pickled onions on it. Different but I think it overwhelmed the burger. Fries were overcooked, not very enjoyable tbh. Overall the experience was positive so will probably be back to give them another shot and maybe not get the burger.

Have been trying to get here for a while and glad I came in. The tuna hand roll was exceptional! The fries were solid! I had the pork sirloin for dinner. It was well seasoned but the unspoken hero was the collard greens! Those were truly made with love! I was obsessed! Service was quick and kind! The decor inside is nice, we sat in a cute booth!

Sat at the chefs table and had the tasting menu with wine pairing. One of the most delicious meals I have had in a long time. Not a single complaint about any part of each course. The service was great and the chefs were very friendly. Even got a complimentary hamachi plate that they were testing out before putting in the tasting menu. The ambiance was pretty casual and slow, given is was a rainy Tuesday night. Highly recommend!

We stopped in here for dinner early last Friday after catching a late afternoon movie at Kan-Kan. We snagged one of the last 2 tables that weren't booked from a reservation and got our order in before the rush, so it was perfect timing! The restaurant has quite a few different sections, but we sat in the furthest left area of the restaurant that faces one of the entrances to Woodruff Place. They have a lot of fun artwork on the walls, the one right across from us I kept imagining were sisters playing mermaids together lol We each started off a with a cocktail (I got a French 75, he got a sazerac) and shared the broccolini salad. It was so fresh and flavorful! My husband felt the garlic was a little over powering, so he left most of his off, but I loved it. For mains, I ordered the KFC- Korean Fried Quail and OMG. The portion was huge- I was not expecting a whole quail, it was definitely very filling. The kimchi was sososo good, but I wish there had been more of it. I would 100% order this again if it was still on the menu when we went back, but it was so good that I would also be torn to try another amazing dish. My husband ordered the patty melt and it was juicy, tender, and came out on very fresh bread. The french fries were crispy and were nicely salted. I also got a glass of their sparkling (only one option) to drink with dinner and it was the perfect amount of bubbles and touch of sweetness. For dessert we ordered the Meyer lemon ice cream and the burnt banana w/ Parmesan and honey. The Meyer lemon was very fresh, tart and tangy. The burnt banana was on another level. I would have never thought those flavors and textures would pair so perfectly and I was so happy we opted to try that flavor over the cranberry walnut. The Parmesan was so finely grated that it melted in your mouth and added just enough savory to balance the burnt banana flavor, with the honey really bringing it all together. We also each got a pour of the Madeira Bual 1987 and overall it was just a perfect little dessert. The staff were all very friendly and were always making sure we had our waters full and empty dishes/silverware removed from the table. The bathrooms were very clean as well. Beholder turned our late afternoon movie into an upscale date night and I would definitely come back here again.

My oh my, now I know why everyone raves about this place. I came for the first time during Devour week and it was everything I dreamed of and more! I love the quirky decor and the cool layout. It's divided between 2 sections and there are endless seating options (bar, high top table, bistro table, large tables for big parties). I got 2 different cocktails and both were amazing. We did the devour menu and I got the grilled Caesar (yum), the walleye (so juicy and amazing), and the pancake ice cream (I'm a sucker for ice cream). All of it was incredible and I love that the menu changes often. I love an innovative menu and this place does it perfectly! My only negative would probably be the wait times. I stood at the check in for about 15 minutes before someone came up to greet me. The courses are timed out to where you're waiting for your next step. It's definitely a place to sit and enjoy your extended time! Great date night, special occasion, or just because! I also met John Green when I was there, so bonus points for that!

I am obsessed with this place. Granted, I've only been 3 times in the past 2 years but I think about it all the time. The most recent visit was at the end of May. As always, the ambiance is very "cool" feeling with different seating locations That give you a different experience. Sometimes, they have a DJ but always playing good tunes. We got to sit at the bar that overlooked the chefs cooking, which is always an automatic win for me. So cool to see them doing their thing. We went on a weekday so they were busy enough yet not slammed. we got to chat with the manager for a little while about our cocktails and wine. The wine menu is incredible. We got some cocktail with verde chile in it and we loved it. Got the oysters, papaya salad, burger and the fish. So delicious. I really want to try the pasta rags with wagyu.

Oysters and bone marrow fries

We had a great experience at Beholder. Ambiance was great, interesting art and nice date night vibes. Food was delicious, we ordered a sampling from each category. The bone marrow French fries were some of the best fries I've ever had. The Cesar salad was fantastic as well. The dry rub on the half chicken has the perfect level of heat and the chicken was juicy. The flat iron steak was cooked perfectly, although a tad salty, it was still really delicious. Overall great meal and we'll be back.

Kohlrabi Caesar salad
Arjun K.

Beholder has a great ambiance with solid food, but may not be worth it at the price point. The highlight of the night was the burger which was perfectly cooked and high quality. May be the best thing on the menu and is a must order. The Kohlrabi Caesar salad was a fresh interesting take on a Caesar salad but left much to be desired at the $15 price point. The chicken quarter and the cereal milk tres leche were both good, but not anything special. For how much Beholder is recommended and how nice the ambiance is, left a little disappointed and expecting more. However the burger saved the night and with a constantly rotating menu, I'm sure there will be new creative high quality dishes to check out in the future.

Is there any outdoor seating? If so, is it dog friendly?

Yes, there is a patio (not covered so weather dependent). Pretty sure well behaved dogs are welcome.

The hospitality was great, and their drink and food recommendations were equally wonderful. One thing to note is the portions on the appetizers are fairly large, so keep that in mind when ordering. To start, we ordered the Korean Fried Mushrooms with baechu kimchi, gochujang honey, daikon radish, furikake, and scallions. These were great but unfortunately had to save room for the other items and could not finish. Then got the Center Cut Ribeye which came with cajun spiced spaetzle, summer squash, remoulade sauce, pink peppercorn ricotta, scallions, sweetie drops, and chimichurri. The steak was cooked to a rare/medium rare consistency that was delicious and we loved the tiny peppers. We paired it with a nice red wine the bartender recommended and it was a lovely experience. Lastly we ended the night with the strawberry dacquoise and espresso. The dessert came with strawberry mousse, pistachio cake, strawberry glaze, white chocolate bark with pistachio & pink peppercorn, and frosted mint. It was a refreshing summertime dessert perfect to end the day. I definitely recommend the steak dish and heard the airline chicken and Chilean sea bass were good too. Would love to come back and try a cocktail and a different dish while sitting on the patio! Second Time: Got the tamarind disco cocktail that comes with a lollipop - amazing, would order again! We tried the fried chicken and caviar, pork chop, and honey cake! All three were delicious - the fried chicken and mushrooms are tied for appetizers, bowers we still think the steak is better than the pork chop. The honey cake was amazing and it paired perfectly with the decalf espresso martini (or a black coffee perhaps). Looking forward to round 3 during my next work trip!

Just beware get there early if you want the good stuff. Getting to the food we did order, mind you the chef was not in the house on a Monday, which is fine and modus operandi for chef driven concepts. I know this and I am fine if everything is executed per chef expectation. So either it was a tough night in the kitchen or the food concept is off, maybe a lil of both. Soup of the day Carrot was spot on, spicy, savory. Needed a lil salt but very nice. Roasted Carrot - curveball when I see roasted i think warm. Nope- cold appetizer. Which would've been fine that was mentioned. Problem also was I wouldn't say they were roasted really because they did not seem to have the roasted look, morenlike a few light grill marks and they had a snap/crunch like a raw carrot. A roasted carrot is sweet and unctuous. The concept of the dish was good but execution not. Unless you just want to say carrots w harrisa. Entrees we could order we will start w scallop risotto . Risotto was under by a stretch. I have risotto far and wide and I know its supposed to be al dente but this was quite under. Scallops cooked nicely but salty Pork chop - chef recommendations on temp is mediumish, I concur 145 to maybe 150. Pork chop i received was more like the old days of 165 even by the bone not a sheckle of juice. My mother would have been proud (iykyk, cause when I grew up nothing had juice. It could kill ya). Flavor was decent. Accoutrements were forgettable. Overall the I know why I haven't been lately. Tinker is okay but should be better if you want $50 per entree. I know this is not finest dining in the city, it's not meant to compete with the Vidas, or 32 down town steakhouse, but at least make the food memorable. It wasn't.

To be in the Peace Possey of Peace Water Winery? 100% worth it! First of all, I don't like most Indiana wine because it's way too sweet. PWW wine is all from California! It's right up my alley, and the benefits of the Peace Possey make it a monthly date night PLUS a bargain on a bottle of delicious wine. There are multiple locations, but the Mass Ave location is the favorite for my introverted self. The vibe is more relaxed and quiet, and that gives the staff a chance to be a lot more attentive.
