If have found if you ask 5 people in Chicago where to go for the best pizza, you will get suggestions for 5 different places. While I certainly haven't tried them all, this place is my favorite. It's all about the deep dish here, it's very biscuit like in texture, but still crispy. There are layers of toppings and cheese it's wonderful. I will be honest this place was my first time trying a deep dish. I have had several since and I found this place still holds at number one. This pizza is so good. I just hate the fact that it's so far from me. I used to live very close but now all I have are memories... Do you like burnt pizza? Because they serve burnt pizza. We're big fans of Beggar's Pizza. We used to order take out from their Lansing, IL location and recently been picking up at Plainfield. After a busy day in Orland Park we were excited to get to the Beggar's in Orland. At the other two locations you consistently received the same super cheesy, very tasty pizza. Orland Park burns their pizzas. Ours arrived at the table burned on the edges, a darker crust than we prefer, and the cheese cooked until it had browned in several spots. I know this is an option on the menu but at Orland they prepare it this way without asking. After I received ours I began to look around the room and realize all pizzas were cooked in this manner. It completely changes the taste. You go from Beggar's Pizza to cheap bar pizza. I would have asked to have it corrected but we were hungry and tired. The thought of waiting another 20-30 minutes was too much for the family. So we choked it down and left. We'll avoid this location in the future. read more

I rarely ever write reviews but I thought this was so ridiculous that it's warranted! My 2 boys, my mother and I went to eat at Beggars. My boys and I had a train to catch in a just over an hour and I figured it would be plenty of time to grab lunch. Service was so slow and we hardly saw the waitress. When we did order, my oldest son ordered a cheeseburger with bacon and fries. His burger came and the bacon was so burnt that it was crumbly. So we asked to get bacon that wasn't so burnt and she took the bacon and left him with a burger that was 1. Ice cold once he got the new bacon and 2. He had hardly any cheese left after taking the burnt bacon off. Whatever, we didn't have time for any of it. None of our food was very good but that's a whole other thing and I wouldn't have even written a review on the crappy food. But once we got the bill I was looking to see why it was so expensive and my sons burger with fries was TWENTY dollars. I was like what in the actual F. I asked the server and she said with attitude that it was just the price and did we want a manager. Remember, we have a train to catch so reluctantly I said yes because it was so crazy to me. The manager came and said that the price is correct blah blah and she could take a little off the burger. We had no time at that point and I was so aggravated with the whole thing that I just paid the bill and walked out and she could keep the measly amount she was going to "take off" and I didn't have the time to deal with the situation. So, my sons awful cheeseburger ended up costing $20 lol. An amazing cheeseburger somewhere doesn't even cost that! If my mother wouldn't have driven us (we were planning on walking back just as we did on the way there) we would have missed the train and still only got there a couple minutes before the train. We took a peer out to celebrate a promotion at the lunch buffet. We have an hour lunch so I made reservations. There were 6 of us. We had a close table which was nice. Beverages arrived fast and I was fortunate that all the food had just been replenished. I'm very fussy but Sausage pizza was tasty and cheesy and the Italian beef was delicious as was the fried chicken. The chocolate chip pizza cookie was friggin awesome! Very disappointed waited over an hour for a few pasta dishes and pizza once the pasta was brought out it was cold...luke warm at best! They have the worst lasagna I've ever had in my life. For example, it's a small portion completely drenched in sauce & covered with this chewy, stringy white cheese. The lasagna is not even layered, it's all mushed together with bland, unseasoned, mashed up ground beef, absolutely disgusting. The noodles are dark colored (re warmed) soggy, rubber noodles. Pizza and pasta dishes are always cooked to perfection and just delicious! The Italian sausage is to die for! You definitely get what you pay for when ordering from this restaurant. I was very disappointed, I had a party for under 60 people and I paid $700 for an unlimited amount of pizza for the few hour I had the place. Unfortunate the pizza wasn't ready at the time it suppose to be ready. I was told the the first set of pizzas was going to be ready before the guest got there and the first 2 or 3 pizzas didn't come out until a half hour later (and that was not enough for 60 people) and then it took another 45 minutes for the next set of pizzas to come out. To make a long story short, I ended up with a total of seven (7) pizzas for 60 people for the three hours I reserved the room for. I had sent a letter to corporate but I still have not heard back from them and it's been a year. So all together I paid $100 per pizza and they were too busy trying to count my guest to make sure it was under 60 people, instead of getting the pizzas out to me and my guest. This is a huge Beggar's. A group of us (12) came here one Saturday night before we went bowling next door. They took a reservation on the phone and we were seated promptly. This location has a bunch of little off-shoot rooms, I guess for private parties, but the place is big. They also have a really nice bar area. Our server was fun and personable. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time. Some got pizza, others pasta, and I got a beef. All the food was consistent with any location. Okay, I've seen the error of my ways. For years, I've loudly and proudly proclaimed that Beggar's was sub-par. I was wrong. Maybe my tastes have changed, I don't know, but it's definitely worth the stop. The restaurant itself is always clean, service is good and friendly, and the food comes up quickly. After Nancy's in the OF closed, my pizza loving heart was broken. Louisa's is my number one (who didn't see that coming? ;) but sometimes you just don't want to blow that much dough on a pie. Aurelio's has always been a steady bet for me, especially since Giordano's closed, but now...I'm probably a Beggar's girl. And I like it like that. Definitely worth a shot. This location has the worst service. Twice in 4 months we ordered from them, once for pick up and once for delivery. Both times they had the orders messed up. The first order they failed to add the meat to an order of nachos. When I called I had to take a picture and text it to them then they remade and had to pick up the replacement. The second time, tonight, we ordered a classic Big Cheese sandwich which comes with provolone and mozzarella cheeses dry, no sauce. They delivered a sandwich smothered in NACHO cheese. When we called they tried to say we ordered it with chedder. Ummm no I said just cheese only. I never said chedder. If the people taking the orders don't know what comes in or on their dishes, they shouldn't be taking orders. The manager was kind of a jerk but said they'd get a fresh sandwich out. In addition, our entire order today, a $35 order, was barely warm. It's obvious they don't even have the means to keep food hot for deliver. Pretty sad when Dominos pizza can serve hotter food than a Chicago classic like Beggars. Needless to say, we won't be ordering from this location again. LOVE Beggars! I used to live by Midway and usually had Beggars about once a week. I moved away last Summer & there aren't any around me now, but I was out in Oak Forest earlier this week so I stopped in for dinner. Service was GREAT! Hostess seated us immediately, asked if we preferred a booth or a table & we were seated in a booth in the back. Waitress came to grab out drink orders and pointed out their new rewards program (we didn't sign up since this wasn't going to be a regular thing, but she was very informative and not pushy about it.) We ordered an appetizer sampler, a small thin crust pizza, half & half toppings, and a small salad. The only reason I'm giving 3 stars is because 1) the appetizer sampler was a joke. Its priced at $8.50 but it was so small. There were only 2 of us, so I wonder if they downsized it because of that, but honestly NOT worth $8.50. Pick something else, anything else. 2) the pizza just wasn't as good as I remembered from the Midway location! It seemed a little burnt but they did get the half & half topping correct, which was nice. I want to start off by saying Beggars is usually the best pizza in town. But lately our last two times it was horrible... this time especially. It was my moms birthday Yesterday and we got some cheese bread a chicken sandwich and a pizza. The pizza had mushrooms on all of it and meat on half. The server failed to let us know that it would be full price not half (found this out in the end). We got three waters and the water tasted like mold. I took it to the bartender and she stated " I don't know what's going on, I don't work back there". She gave us new ones and said it should be different because it was from the díada gun. Come to find out a taste exactly the same. So she went and got us three Dasani bottled waters. Thank you so much for that. Our server Christian must've been knew he was very nice polite and respectful but the bill came out to be more than what it should've been. We should've got our cheese bread for free and it was charged. when I went to talk to Kim about this she said " I told him to take that off not to charge you guys". Then she said that meat on the pizza is a Premium topping that it's four to 5 dollars extra. Which it does not say that on the menu that was very confusing.
