Excellent job catching the bees and friendly service. The only problem was getting a call from Nicole screaming at me about 10 months later saying I hadn't paid. Not sure what happened because I gave my payment at the time of service. Why would so much time go by? I couldn't find proof I had paid so I just paid again. Things that freak me out would include snakes and bees. OK, maybe spiders too. Well actually, probably a whole bunch of things. But anyways, imagine my horror when I go into my backyard and see a whole bunch of bees flying in and out of my chimney. I'm thinking African Killer bees and run screaming away (ok, I exaggerated that last part). The kids are begging me to call "Billy the Exterminator" - so that they can be on TV. Its Sunday morning and I call Bee Catchers (based on their website) and leave a message. A couple hours later a kindly man called back to see what the problem was and if I felt it was an emergency. Being that I felt it wasn't too big a deal, he said that someone could come out the next day, and instructed what to do in the meantime. A woman called on Monday morning and told me they would be out that afternoon. Two guys came out and removed the bees & hive, sealed up the chimney, and sprayed something to keep the bees from coming back. Bottom line: good communication; came out when they said they would; did the job; and no problems since (and I didn't get stung). Our gardeners were stung by bees that had been aggravated when shrubs were being trimmed. On examination of the area, we realized we had an active hive inside one of the bushes. That's when we called Bee Catchers, they were on a list provided by our city. We chose Bee Catchers because they remove and relocate the bees. Two rechnicians arrived promptly at 9:30 am as promised. No customer service skills. Just wanted everyone to know that I made a call to this company and I really disturbed by the result. All I really wanted was this company to come pick up a hive contained in a bee box. I was happy to pay the $175 fee - No strings attached. The owner's wife who answered the phone did not listen to my circumstances and made a lot of presumptions before letting me describe my specific needs. She assumed that I had no knowledge of bee-keeping and pontificated in an attempt to show how much smarter she was than me. Big ego, little or no customer service skills. My husband and I recently purchased a new home and we quickly discovered that we had a large bee problem in the wall of the side of our house. We were referred to Bee Catchers by a friend and we are very pleased to have used them. I learned a lot bees and their behavior from my initial phone call with Nicole. She's got a great sense of humor and she's a biologist. It was a really cool experience learning more in depth about how important bees really are to us. We scheduled an inspection and Steve came out the next day. Steve is definitely what you would call a bee charmer. He's very knowledgeable and kind and loves his profession. Steve was thorough in his inspection and we agreed on a fair price and moved forward with the work, same day. Steve and one of his other guys worked for about 4 hours on this job and pulled out more honeycomb than I could have ever imagined was possible to be inside of our wall. We took pictures. They saved the bees and fixed our wall in beautiful condition. They left our property clean and gave us a great warranty. Steve is also a great artist so while they took a short lunch break, Steve shared with us some of his art, which is truly fantastic. Thank you Bee Catchers for a job well done. We would recommend then to anyone needing help with a bee issue. Sent me a snarky email after taking 8 hours to respond to my request for a callback. This wasn't for an appointment, mind you, simply a return communication to my workorder request (which they claim will be looked at and returned within 30 mins). Meanwhile I called Live Bee Removal, and had the swarm removed within 3 hours. When i let Nicole know their services where no longer needed, she proceeded to blame a family emergency. The technician was on time for our appointment and very courteous while he explained and showed me exactly what he was doing. I take care of a large high rise condominium complex on Wilshire Boulevard by Westwood. at the beginning of the spring season, I noticed an increased bee activity near the pool area. The property has a lush landscape and bees aren't uncommon to buzz around the landscape, but this time they seem to be too many. I called The Bee Catchers, and they schedule a visit for the next day at 10 am. The following day, Sean and his associate, arrived at the property on time, they performed a walk through/inspection, and found a large bee hive developing inside one of our large palm trees next to the pool. They close the area for safety purposes, suited on and began removing the bee colony. Three hours later, two buckets full of bees, including the queen bee, and 45 pounds of honeycomb and honey were removed from the inside of the tree. The tree was sealed and the bees ready to send out for relocation. Before starting Sean mention that if they find clean honey they will save it for us, unfortunately, due to the location and exposure, the honeycomb was contaminated with insects and it didn't seem very clean, so he advise me not to keep it. Safety first !!. But smelled so good!!... The bottom line is that I ended very happy with a fast and courteous service from Sean and the Bee Catchers team. Scheduling was easy with a quick response. Sean is very communicative and eager to explain the removal process, their philosophy is to relocate these bees with their queen to fields where their pollination capabilities are needed for the benefit of our crops, therefore our benefit, and I'm all for it, they did a great job !!! read more

Called Bee Catchers at 7 Thursday night. Explained that I had bees and a nest beneath a protrusion of my roof. I sent both a close up of the nest and a distant photo showing the location. The lady I spoke to said they were wasps. She scheduled the service for 8-10 the next morning. Promptly at 8 the next morning, the servicemen rang my bell, went the location and removed the wasps and the nest. Gave me a bill for the exact quoted amount. Everyone was extremely professional, courteous and knew what they were doing. Could not believe that the issue was resolved as quickly as it was. Bee Catchers were very responsive and came out as arranged and took care of our bee problem. They had to peel back the roofing to remove the hive and from below I can't even see where they did the work. We haven't seen any bees since they came out and we will take their advice the have the eaves repaired and replaced where necessary. read more

I am a landlord and my tenant is a single mom with two small children. I arranged for Bee Catchers to remove a hive from a tree in my yard today. I was given an estimate of $150.00 for the service. I contacted the company prior to their arrival to arrange payment via credit card and was cheerfully told they would contact me as soon as the job was completed and I could make payment. This was confirmed 30 minutes prior to their arrival. That is not what happened. Instead, later, I get a text from my tenant telling me the Bee Catchers showed up insisting on a payment of $225 in advance. At this point, yes, I wish she had contacted me but she felt obligated to pay and so paid them in cash. When I learned of this I immediately contacted the company. This was within a couple of hours after the job. I requested they return the cash and I would handle payment as we had agreed. They refused. I was told that it was an "honest" mistake and now their drivers were too far away to return her money. When I insisted, I was given increasingly more hostile refusals, shouted down, told I was crazy for insisting, and finally threatened that if I pursued it they knew where I lived! Seriously, that's how they operate? They do not know where I live. They do know where my tenant, a single mother, lives. Should she be concerned now? Why? Because I irritated their owner? This is a highly questionable company and I would be very cautious dealing with them. I wanted this out there. In the end, she (Bee Catchers) hung up on me saying she was not going to return the money and I can just reimburse the tenant myself- which of course I will now do. Buyer beware. read more

The service was fantastic! I called to inquire about the live removal of honey bees located under a structure on my property and they came out for an estimate with an hour of my phone call. They scheduled a live removal within two days and even though I had to reschedule, they we were very polite and accommodating - coming out the very next day for the removal! Very polite, friendly, and professional, you can tell they truly care about the welfare of the bees and the environment. Nicole was nice enough to take pictures of the hive during the removal and e-mail them to me so that I could have a close-up view! Great team of professionals who care about their work. THIS COMPANY IS THE WORST OR SHOULD I SAY NICOLE IS THE WORST!!! When I spoke to Nicole on the phone she asked a lot of questions which was fine and gave me a over the phone quote of $400.00. She said she could schedule someone to come out on Sunday morning between 9-10 am but would call me 20 min before they came out. A very nice man named Steven Downs shows up at 10:15, no phone call. I showed him where the bees were and he drilled some holes to see how big the hive was. Then he told me that it wasn't that large and the estimate of $400.00 was good. Now Nicole had told me that the hive was probably very large since the bees had been there around 6 months already so that made me a little suspect of her quote. I then told Steven that I wanted to get some other estimates just before he was ready to break thru my stucco and remove the hive. He was super polite and said he understood. Then the shit hit the fan. Nicole called me very upset because she had sent he guy out to my house on a Sunday to do the work, blah, blah blah. She became very angry and asked me what had put me in such a bad mood on a Sunday morning. I then politely said goodbye to her and hung up. Then she sent me a text saying that I was rude and that I was not the type of client she wanted to work with anyway. Nicole, if you are reading this, I have 3 words for you! ANGER MANAGEMENT THERAPY! This woman should not be in charge of a service company. I agree with Rodiah, I would give them 0 stars if I could but the one star I have to give to them should go to Steven. Run from these guys! I would also give zero stars if it were an option. I made the mistake of hiring them for $125 to get rid of my bees. They came, sprayed, and left, telling me that the bees would go away in a couple of hours. They didn't. When I called to tell them that, I was scolded on the phone and told to give it a couple of days. They bees remained. I called again and they said they'd call me back to tell me when they could return to take care of it. They never called back. I had to pay another company $150 to come get rid of my bees. I now see on City Search, Yelp and other places that my bad experience with these people is the norm. Wish I read the reviews before giving $125 to these guys. read more

I had an appt for Friday morning and I drove an hour to get to my rental property in order to meet the person from Bee Catchers. I waited and waited and they didn't show up. When I called the office, they said they would not send someone until the next day even though we had an appointment for that day. The customer service was terrible. THIS COMPANY IS A RIP-OFF & A JOKE. Called them about an infestation. When they came their equipment was a wire coat hanger. They proceeded to drill multiple holes trying to locate the hive. They refused to check the attic crawl space. Their uniform was clothing with tale around the ankles and wrists. They are nothing like what their web page shows. Nothing. They didn't "relocate" anything, they just killed the bees that were left. I felt ripped off by the price $495!!!! Would never call again or recommend to anyone. The 2 catchers who came to do the work were respectful and clear about the process. They were incredibly pleasant and informative. They had to cut a hole in our roof revealing 2 honey combs. After doing some research and calling around, Nicole was by far the most professional and knowledgeable. I had another company come out for the sake of estimate comparison, and not only was Bee Catchers cheaper, they were far more professional, using a laser to show me where in the wall of my backyard the bees were located. Sean stayed as long as I needed him to to explain the process and answer any questions I had. When I finally scheduled the appointment, Sean and his coworker made sure the bees were humanely removed, the honey comb removed and the wall they cut into was patched nicely. I have contacted Nicole since then with basic questions about other bees in my neighborhood and she always gets back to me immediately, answers my questions and puts me at ease. My experience with bee catchers was great from start to finish! I had called and spoke to Nicole and I let her know that I had seen many bees swarming around an area on my roof. She informed me that it was possible they would go away or they would settle and I would need her services. In the two weeks after that there was so much rain that I didn't really see the bees but in the last two days BAM! they're back. I called again this morning and I again got Nicole. She was as pleasant as ever and was able to set me up with a same day appointment. Sean came on time and even called me when he was on his way. Turns out there was an existing hive in my roof structure and the new bees occupied it. Sean and his helper were able to successfully open the roof, removing the bees ALIVE and repairing my roof again. The price was very reasonable and this company was top notch. I am in agreement with a lot of the comments here regarding the rudeness/unprofessionalism of Nicole. My boss has rental properties and before she left town she made an appointment with Bee Catchers via text. The day before the appointment one of the tenants called to confirm the appointment. I called Bee Catchers phone (from my bosses rolodex) and the voice mail was "full". I tried a couple of more times before I left for the day - finally I sent an e-mail from their website. When I arrived at work the next morning I called again and left a voice mail. I called the other number on the card and got the same recording - I did not leave a voice mail because I already had. I called again before lunch and left a voice mail - and again at the end of the day. I told the tenant to let me know if someone had come by and I probably wasn't getting a call because of the time of year and the heightened time for bees (just shooting from the hip). The tenant called me the next day and said "someone had stopped by for a couple of minutes". I had a hard time believing they would drive from Van Nuys to Covina for "a few minutes". I told the tenant that maybe the bees were just looking for the hive/queen and would disappear in the next couple of days. I left another message for Bee Catchers - no return call. I left yet another message on Friday stating my boss would be back the first of the week and I would like to make sure I had answers for them. Then I decided to try "call blocking" from my cell phone - and low and behold a female answered the phone. Nicole told me she wasn't the only one who took the calls and she didn't know what number or company I was calling but it wasn't them. Then the story changed that she was dealing with someone via e-mail. I checked all the company e-mails both received and sent and no record of any e-mails. At the conclusion of the call I told her that I wanted to speak for myself and not the company, at which time she started to get upset - finally I said I just don't think it is very professional for a company not to return calls. Boy, did that set her off. I decided to do some research on my own over the weekend and saw that Bee Catchers had competed a large project for UCLA during the week and they had an event at the zoo. I can appreciate both of these taking precedence over our little apartment situation. But, please just return a call (I would have figured something else out) - it is tough to give answers to people if you are not getting a response.
