I'd like to update my review since my first stellar review was for the initial estimate process only and I said I would update (but forgot). It's been 5 years and we've had plenty of people up in our attic since Rodent Masters completed our job and any time someone goes up there, I beg them to check and double check to ensure there are no rodent droppings. During this time, we have not heard a peep in the attic which is a complete 180 from what we were hearing before - it always sounded like the rats were having a party up there in the middle of the night. The process took about a month from start to finnish because the first thing they do is cover and patch all holes or entrances up so that nothing can get in (or out) and not just outside of the house but inside the attic and inside every single area from within the house. It's a LOT of work but they did it very well. Then, they came back and, in our case, because things were so bad, they sucked out all of the insulation and then reinsulated the entire attic with much higher quality material than what had been removed. Then they came back on final time to ensure there was no activity. So, I have no reason not to continue recommending Rodent Masters and I have for the last 5 years. I do think I will contact them soon though just to have someone do a walk around to ensure there are no new holes that have developed since they were last here. ONE STAR FOR SHOWING UP ON TIME. ZERO STARS FOR EVERYTHING THAT MATTERED. I hired Rodent Masters because I have documented ongoing rat activity around my private patio at my apartment for approximately a year. I have five security cameras recording the activity, including rats repeatedly on the ground in my private patio where my small dog walks and sniffs. I explained the situation to Max in detail, including how distressed I was, and told him I was prepared to pay for an exterminator's help myself. At their request, I obtained my landlord's permission for them to perform the work. The day before the appointment, I went even further: I sent Max a five-page presentation with photographs and a diagram of my property, identifying suspected burrows, storage areas with rat activity/droppings, openings I wanted sealed, the water-heater closet, planters/root systems and other possible nesting and entry locations. I also explained that I have a small dog and wanted safe, enclosed trapping options. I specifically asked whether they could perform the work the same day if possible. The technician arrived on time, but the inspection I expected simply did not happen. He focused on whether rats might be inside my apartment even though I had reported an outdoor problem. When I asked whether he had seen my presentation, he told me it was "at the office." He did not open and inspect the storage cupboards where I had reported rat activity and droppings. He did not investigate the suspected burrows. He did not seal any openings. He looked directly at an opening into one of my storage areas and did nothing about it. Most incredibly, while standing on my patio he explained that rats like protected areas around water heaters, yet he never even opened the doors to inspect the two water heaters I had specifically identified in my presentation. After all of this, the primary recommendation I received was to buy mountain lion or fox urine and spray it myself. After I complained, Max initially told me in writing that he was "very confused" because he had forwarded my list to the technician and explained the situation to him. He later said they were trying to "save me money" and the technician did not want to take my money "by just setting traps." That explanation makes no sense. This was supposed to be a free estimate. I never told anyone I was on a budget. I had specifically asked whether they could do the work that same day and was prepared to pay. Nobody even gave me an estimate or presented treatment options and allowed me to decide what I wanted to spend. Max also brought up my doggie door afterward. I did not tell Max about a doggie door the day before. I mentioned it casually to the technician while we were already standing on my patio. I never reported rats inside my apartment. He insisted on coming in and looking under my sink and told me I had no evidence of rat existence. My complaint is simple: I hired a rodent professional to investigate documented rat activity, identify nesting/entry areas, recommend appropriate trapping and exclusion, and give me an estimate. Instead, the specific areas I identified were not meaningfully investigated, no holes were sealed, I received no estimate, and I was essentially told to buy predator urine. Had Max simply told me after receiving my five-page presentation that this wasn't the type of work they were going to perform, I would have thanked him and continued looking for another company. Instead, I stopped searching because I believed help was coming the next morning. That lost time matters when you are already dealing with an ongoing problem. I also let Max know how traumatized I was by these rats and how I wasn't sleeping at night. He seemed so empathetic and told me not to worry. Why pretend you want to help and then lie about our initial conversation. P.S. I saw another reviewer say someone from this company arrived in an unmarked white van, which the company disputed in its response. I hire Rodent master about more than two years ago, they couldn't solve my rodent issue. I still have the same issues even more than ever . I hear the rodent scratches and runaround all day and night. I don't have sleep. They wake me up every night and they chewed all my air ducts. They said they did rodent proofing but I saw with my own eyes a rat run into my crawl space from wall opening. I can even smell them in my bedroom I have attic opening in my bedroom. When I told that to the technician max he said he already checked the attic and didn't want to look again . Their traps are not working, they put a smear of peanut butter on it but it gets disappear, never caught even one rodent. I told him today just remove the trap you will see there is nothing on it , finally reluctantly he removed the trap it was empty. The traps are just decorative, it catches nothing. Every time they come they cover a small part with metal mesh . I waisted my money , time and destroyed my air ducts and my health. Breathing on that nasty smell it's not good for me . Quality of work is not good , they send those workers with dirty hands and clothes, I am even hesitant for them to come inside. I am not happy with their service at all. The experience was not positive overall. When I agreed to have them take care of my rodent control issues, I thought they were going to be attentive and helpful, they were not. The sales associate who first visited was professional, communicative and knowledgeable. But, once we signed the contract and paid for the abatement, it became very difficult to make appointments, speak to the team and get information. The removal of our rodents and insulation was completed quickly, however getting the monthly inspections was challenging and frustrating. Each visit required multiple phone calls and was not a very pleasant process. The call center was not responsive, no one returned calls or was ever available for the scheduling of appointments. Each step required multiple calls and frustrating weeks of delays. I definitely felt like I got the run around. The difficulty with scheduling made us feel like it was entirely our responsibility to follow up and make sure the inspection was done. It was not easy or fluid. In the end we feel we overpaid for mediocre quality and did not have them back to install the new insulation. No one has ever taken the time to communicate with us again to check on the job, get a verbal review of our work satisfaction or inquire about future inspections. used rodent masters a few months back and i wanted to wait to see the results before posting a review. booking a consultation and estimate was incredibly easy and the technicians are very friendly. i think my consultation was on an overbooked day due to him being quite late, but can't hate on it. i been hearing scurrying and scratching in my walls for months before deciding to do anything about it. i got estimates from a few companies, and rodent masters price was fairly similar to the industry standard. i paid for exclusion and from the day of booking a consultation, i had my whole house excluded within a week and a half. honestly could have been sooner if i had time to be home. they sealed off all the openings in my house from top to bottom and even random holes that i found in my front yard. its been more than two months now and not a sign of those dang rodents. no more scritch scratching in the walls at night and now i can sleep in peace. read more

I went with Rodent Masters after getting a few quotes for rodent abatement in my attic. I had been hearing noises from the attic for a while. Their foreman/inspector came by, took a look, and confirmed there were signs of rats and/or mice coming and going. On the day of the service, their crew showed up around 8am and got busy vacuuming out all the old broken-down cellulose insulation which the rodents had been using as nesting areas. After vacuuming thoroughly and sanitizing the attic using a chemical treatment, they went all over the attic and the crawlspace, locating entry points and sealing them off. Here's my experience: Called for an estimate, guys showed up and did a good job explaining. The bids came in high, my opinion of course, and I agreed to get +/- $2K of work performed. Work took about 7 hours to complete. Later that night I heard rodent activity, I emailed my rep and did not get a reply. Several days later I got a reply. I thought I was booked but then a no call / no show. I called and left a message, still no reply. Feedback: Turn around on bids is quick, work was quick. I do not understand why I had such a bad experience with this company. They seem to have a great rating on Yelp, but my experience is a 1 out of 5. It seems that they could care less about assisting with animal removal. An appointment was scheduled, with specific instructions that were not followed. When I followed up the same day & the next, I never got confirmation whether their services were complete. Didn't have a good experience with this company , I had them come out to inspect my home in marina del ray , this guy shows up in a unmarked white van and introduced himself as the inspector, I explained him that we had our home rat proofed 5 years ago with another company and a new hole must've opened . He right away insisted he check the attic , upon popping his head inside briefly he began making a commotion and showed me pictures of what supposedly was my attic insulation all torn up and loaded with rat poop the "inspector" then ran to his unmarked van put on a white hazmat suit and made a big deal about the whole situation and insisted it's necessary to remove our insulation . I asked him for the photos and let him know I'll get back to them - a week later and after multiple requests for the photos still no reasponse , the other 3 companies I had all let me know that my insulation was in top condition and that the photos the "inspector" showed were from a total different house . the inspector even threw his "hazmat" suit on the floor by the entrance to the house . We hear pest(s) in our attic, so we decided to reach out to get an estimate. We are located in La Puente. Scheduled for a free estimate on Saturday and they called back the same day, saying that they are not available that day, as they were "booked up." Fine, we set up for an appointment on Monday from 12PM to 2PM, after verifying our address for the second time. Got an email at 7:38PM Sunday stating that they are cancelling, as they do not service our area. Got another follow-up email on Monday around 12:16PM, asking if we have received their first email. First of all, if this is a cancellation, a call would've been more professional. I understand that Sunday night might not have been the best time to call, but you had ample of time to call on Monday from morning - noon. This is unacceptable. I had to take the day off to get this sorted. I'm sure their service is great, but it appears they do not know where they service. Might I suggest using Google Maps to check where we are located and even Google Calendar (it also appears they have an overbooking problem, not just for us, but other customers)? read more

After the appt time I received a reply indicating they had a software problem & double booked , but noted I had not confirmed the appt. I had confirmed the appt. Had they simply given me a " "hey, we screwed up & sorry "  response, I would have reconsidered. We've been with Rodent Masters for many many years...living on a hill means we have to share the space with rodents and sometimes they find a way into the house...when we first moved into our house, we were unaware of how to handle rodent problems, so we contacted a couple other companies that came and charged us to set up some traps (that didnt catch anything anyway) or did some sloppy patch work...we had to pay them every single time they came (and they did virtually nothing)...we finally found Rodent Masters and liked that they had a guarantee (as we quickly learned, having rodents is never a one and done kind of situation)...they definitely seem expensive but it's been worth it...ideally neither of us want them coming back to our house so I always feel like they're doing their best to patch everything up and keep the rodents at bay. We had a major infestation ... of RATS! We were catching several a day with an electric zap tunnel and snap traps but they kept coming in and were very active at night. They were even nibbling around a light fixture in the ceiling in an attempt to get in after we blocked their usual routes of entry -- so we knew they were multiplying in the attic. Our previous service had done a good job in figuring out how and where the rats were getting in, and they had let us know that the latest entry was under our deck in the backyard. But that company wasn't willing to go under the deck and block that hole and any others from the crawl spaces that lead to the attic. So we called Rodent Masters. The inspectors from Rodent Masters did a thorough job of inspection and located every access point and then blocked them all. They got under the house, under the deck, entered every crawl space and blocked off everything. Then they got in the attic and did the same after removing our old and outdated insulation from the 1920s. And they were total professionals from the get-go. It was a friendly, responsible crew that cleaned up, put it all back in place, and in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic the crew wore masks and social distanced. Since then, the rats have stopped coming in -- no more "activity", nothing. The follow ups were just as thorough -- there were two of them before the final stage of the process which was blowing new insulation into the attic. That's the other thing we got out of this -- our 1920s house had old, shredded newsprint from the 1920s as our insulation, something that the rats found to be very comfy-cozy. Now we have modern, thick, fireproof insulation that's as white as snow and should lower heating and AC costs. The process took a while -- the inspectors spaced out the inspections to make sure that the repairs held before the re-insulation was completed. But the rats ended on the day the first service was done and that has held for almost three months now. We got several estimates from other companies who would do both the rat-proofing and the insulation and Rodent Masters came in with the lowest bid. I'm so glad I chose Rodent Masters. I got four bids for securing the house (attic and under crawl space). The bid was extremely professional. The problems were pointed out very matter of factly and accurately. The representative looked in all the relevant locations and took photos. There were two best bids in terms of clarity and price point. Rodent masters totally delivered. They were impeccable for cleanliness and respectfulness. The entire crew was knowledgeable. I was given accurate times for tasks and a time table for the entire job. Between the initial removal of insulation and insulation replacement is a month to ensure that the initial job was complete and that nothing was trapped inside. The checks were done with a lot of feedback and all questions answered. They use 38 roll insulation which is preferable when possible. My attic looks the best it has since I moved it. All questions were answered clearly. Nothing promised that could not be delivered. The shed yes (so glad those rodents are removed), outside, that's no win but techniques were suggested to reduce outdoor rodent population. All suggestions were ecosystem sound (no poison). This is especially important in a house with pets. Everything was done in a timely fashion. The warranty is two years (double most bids). I'm very grateful the representative Charlie was so knowledgeable as it made the final decision a bit easier. I will be recommending to friends and already told a work colleague to get a quote.
