I came here with my book club (group of about seven or eight) and sat in the back room. This back room is BEAUTIFUL and perfect for parties. I was not even aware that this room existed. The service we had was good. I tried one of their beers and ended up with the mussels for the second time in month because the sauce they are served in is that good. I was too full for dessert, but next time I'm doing it! I brought home the fish & chips for my husband and he said it was really good. I tried some of his fries and they were still good even after the drive. This is becoming one of my favorites in Augusta. read more

We have been to Becks twice before this and had exceptional service and food. This time was different. I had the Tuna and my wife had the short ribs with mashed potatoes and asparagus. Mine was good. My wife ate roughly half her order (generous portions). Complained of not feeling well towards end of our stay. Went home and almost had to take her to ER at around midnight. Food poisoning had set in. This was our anniversary and definitely one to forget. This happened on Friday Feb. 17th. Our reservation was at 8:30. The service was great. If you love oysters (raw), seafood (cooked), and great drinks (quality made) then this is your place. But first, the location. If you are coming from downtown Augusta, you will be there in no time. If coming from other parts of the CSRA, just scroll up and click on the blue area (on the right side). The outside deceives you, as it appears to not be a very big place. But then you walk and the room is massive. Tables galore, two person booths, and the raw oyster bar. Then you might find yourself escorted to the back room. This is an entirely separate area, used for large groups-parties and for when the place gets busy (which is often). There is work by local artists on the wall and the lighting is simply perfect. And then, the food. The closest I have come to this level of quality and selection for fresh oysters is in Atlanta. Others locally have oysters on ice, but there is something special about the ones that hit your platte here. The seafood in general (I favor the soft shelled crab and crab cakes) receive the same level of attention and care. And if somehow you have saved room for dessert, they have house made choices as well. Now let me share a pet peeve (generally speaking). You go to a great restaurant, they have a awesome selection, and then you find out the drink menu is subpar and all bottled. I need my choice of wines or bourbons or, if I'm feeling frisky, cocktails to choose from. Don't limit me! Thankful, that doesn't happen here. Even the cherries are house marinated. If I stopped typing this review right now and went there, I would feel no remorse. But alias, I will finish. The team goes above and beyond; knowledge, personable, and genuine. You just can't find that many places anymore. So plan a visit soon. You'll thank me afterwards. *Insider's Tip -The sad part is this place is closed on Monday's and Tuesday's. But guess what, that's because they are open Wednesday-Sunday! Before you go back to the grind, go back to Beck's. -The parking directly in front of is limited so plan to walk maybe a half block. Came to BECKs on a double date with some friends. The food and atmosphere were simply amazing. Our waiter was also great. I will say I think the menu is different than online. They may have seasonal menus but either way get the porkchop. It was so tender and juicy and just good. This isn't a cheap restaurant you will get what you pay for and what you pay for is worth it. read more

Becks is my favorite place to go..normally I get the shrimp burger but decided to try something new. I was highly disappointed with myfood once I got home. Spent $102.00 on a meal that was burnt. The only tasty thing was the wings and shrimp bisque. I guess I should've stayed with what I normally ordered. read more

One of my Augusta favorites, second only to Frog Hollow! A relatively new restaurant with a seasonal menu, lots of seafood options. Oysters are delicious. The restaurant provides a refreshing open concept style architecture with exposed brick which makes for a great date or occasion venue. Seasonal cocktails as well are delicious. One of my sides were missing but waitress quickly addressed it. The entree was excellent and the drinks were good. We ordered a brownie desert and the brownie on top was basically a rock, you couldn't eat it. We didn't have to say anything to the waitress, she knew it wasn't edible and comped it. Our waitress was great. Probably the most frustrating thing with our experience was the restaurant didn't appear to be enforcing any CDC guidelines - no distancing of tables, and it seemed like wearing masks was optional. It appeared half of the staff, were not wearing masks. None of the management was wearing a mask. For a fine dining restaurant, meeting these types of standards is more or less a standard expectation. Unless you're a COVID denier, probably hold off on eating here until you and your family get vaccinated. read more

We just LOVE this restaurant. From the moment you walk in and Mackenzie greets you to having Pat shuck the best oysters and to having either Mary or Katie as your servers, you can't be happier! My husband and I just love coming to this restaurant, it's definitely our favorite place in Augusta! Very nice inside! The environment is really open, you can see the bar, oyster bar, kitchen from wherever you're seated. The oyster bar is in the middle and has seating options, in addition to the seating at the bar and tables. Nice display of the menu and tables are cozy, farm-like, trendy. The oysters are great! There's a selection of about 8-10 options and I highly recommend the oysters from Maine. The shucker gave me two additional oysters on the house because he said they were his best. My dad had the shrimp bisque and said it was just ok - he had higher expectations overall for the soup. The wings were really good and very flavorful. My mom and I had the tuna cooked rare and it was good. I wanted a bit more flavor on the tuna itself, but the rice and avocado made it more complete for sure -- rice was really good! My sister had the salmon quesadilla as an entree and it was good and typical quesadilla. Lastly, my BIL had the catfish special and enjoyed it. I had the jalapeño margarita and would recommend it. There's no espresso machine and that was disappointing because it felt like a place that would have a nice coffee, espresso bar option with dessert. Finally, the server was only ok. This place is excellent. Susan was awesome, with her knowledge of the menu and different types of oysters. Me and my friend had the baked oysters...delicious. Then we moved on to the entree, which was fried lobster tail, brussel sprouts and onion rings. My friend opt for grits instead of the onion rings. I loved the atmosphere. Group of six on a Saturday night at 8pm. Bartender was our first impression of the place and she seemed overwhelmed and a little rude. Our appetizers Pimento Cheese balls over cooked , Cheesy Oysters were practically rubber with melted cheese. Would have been an a better idea for them to learn Rockefeller style. We ordered four specials and only one was available. Seemed the kitchen and our waitress were not in sync all night since everything she tried to give us they were out of. Finally ordered a filet and it was over cooked. Glad I didn't waste my time ordering the cowgirl since they couldn't cook a filet MR. I put in the reservation it was a birthday but no one asked or said anything because they didn't care. The staff had a busy weekend and the last thing they were worried about was us. The prices were high for the quality of food we got. This was our second and definitely last trip to Becks. Beck's has a great atmosphere wether you are in the front near the bar or in one of the back rooms. We've dined here twice, and I like that you can come for a casual meal and sit at the bar or make a reservation for an special occasion. It is one of those places that just fits the bill. The food is great. On our most recent visit I had the cowgirl ribeye, my husband had a fish special. Another thing I love is their delicious desserts. Summer's Temptaions provides them with AMAZING homemade baked goods. So plan to save room for dessert. This restaurant came highly recommended to us and to say I was underwhelmed is being polite. First, our food took over an hour to come out, granted the waitress apologized several times, but no effort was given to make the situation better. Secondly, I ordered the fried lobster and it was way over cooked. It was chewy and leathery- I'm not a fan of paying $31 for gross lobster. Lastly, we got the creme brûlée and I'm not sure if it was supposed to be cold (I've always had it warmed) and it was probably the best part of the meal aside from the temperature. So disappointing! The food was mediocre at best and they sat us in a tiny little table with no room. They seriously need to rip those tables out and put in adequate size chairs and tables. I am petite and I felt uncomfortable so I can't imagine a larger person being comfortable and enjoying their dinner. What was most aggravating about our visit to Becks is that our server never bothered to tell us the specials. 20 minutes after we ordered we overheard her telling the table behind us. They sounded better than what we picked from their menu. The only positive was that the Oysters we ordered were pretty good. Not the best I have had though. read more

Been waiting a while for this place to open. Worth the wait. Located at the old 5 O'Clock Bistro location, it is close to all the things you'd want in Augusta. Can't wait for their dinner hours to be added. Started things off with the venison chili. It was super delicious, particularly for this raw, chilly (no pun intended) weather we have been having. The venison was in a mince instead of chunks (similar to beef chili, I suppose) and had some nice flavours coming through. For my main, I had the shrimp and grits. It was quite a good portion size and the non-grits ingredients were really good (which isn't to say that the grits WEREN'T; I'm just highlighting the other components). It was either this dish or the jambalaya as my main dish, which sounds like I could not lose either way. But given the presentation and the tastes I got this time around, I cannot wait to go back for a second lunch and try some of the other goodies. read more

So me and my dining mate are sitting in what looks like an apartment in Korea trying to be comfortable but the these 1 1/2 person booths are atrocious and should be ripped out and used for firewood. I had to visit when in town for the first time in a long while and I was sad to see my favorite 5 O'clock Bistro was no more. However it was exciting to see the space was put to good use and still convenient for local neighbors to be in walking distance to a great spot like I was. Becks is focused on seafood and probably the best spot to get your oyster fix in Augusta. They have built a cocktail bar on the right side of the restaurant in addition to their raw bar in the middle which is a main focal point. I was not overly impressed with my old fashioned which quickly became watered down from presentation with multiple small ice cubes but the menu had many other options which sounded intriguing. Raw oysters here are a must and their spread of variety impressed. For my main entree I went with the fish and chips which was probably the best I have had and one I fully endorse. The batter was perfectly crispy but not too thick. One of the most satisfying dishes Im convinced when paired with thin savory fries. My service was surprisingly slow given the low volume but extra time to chat with my fellow bar colleagues is something I always appreciate either way. Becks is a great choice and one I would venture to again to try other offerings. read more

First off, the set up in the restaurant is great, really enjoyed the little booths they have. Second, the Apple salad was to die for and very fresh, with a little kick. Third, the Ribeye was AMAZING. When I don't have to put ketchup on it, it's a killer taste. Forth, the Bailey's chocolate mousse was on point, for a drink I had the caffe mocha martini and WOW the combination of those two was something that I will come back for. And lastly the service was outstanding Jennifer was on top of it and pleasant to talk too. They don't advertise, so word by mouth is a must and I will be spreading the word.
