Grandma's special corner table

Mom's day feast. Service next to none other. Fun atmosphere for all ages. Special table set for grandma's The best of the best. 75 years of service all in the family!!!

Excellent food and amazing services. First visit to Bea's restaurant and I see why it's been around since 1950. Tasty traditional southern comfort food hit the spot for Sunday family dinner. The inside is a nod to yesterday's nostalgia. The inside is homely, welcoming and nothing pretentious. The food is served family style on a lazy susan in the center of the tables. Refills are by request. Sunday dinner included fried chicken (breast only), ham, pulled pork, pinto beans, cabbage, collard greens, slaw, beets, corn bread, rolls, potatoes, tea, water and dessert if the day which was strawberry or peach pie. The service was excellent. The food was good. There is ample parking out front and it's great for a family dinner. Big plus is this place is locally owned and not a big chain. Definitely worth a visit

If you are in the Chattanooga area and Judy can't decide what you want for dinner... Just book it to Bea and let them set you up! $21pp and you get a crazy selection of hot and cold dishes, fresh and pickled veggies, fried chicken, fried fish, pulled BBQ pork, corn bread, biscuits and whatever dessert is on the menu for the day. And then you get to ask for additional servings of the sides and mains you want more of! I don't think the decor has been changed must since they opened 50 years ago but that's ok because it's still all clean and comfortable. The staff is phenomenal and so friendly and the owners came by each table asking if all was well too. No frills, just great stick to your gut, home style Southern cooking! Seriously cannot wait to go back!

I really was hoping that Bea's was going to be as good as the person who recommended it to me!! Unfortunately it was not. The food was not very good. It's the kind of place where they bring out little dishes to the table, like a buffet without getting up. The greens were super salty. The potato salad was too sweet. The coleslaw was bland. The catfish and chicken were just okay, nothing special. And the peach cobbler was disgusting. However, the pasta salad was delicious and the rolls were light and fluffy. The service was excellent, fast and friendly. The restaurant was built in the 1950's and I doubt anything has changed since. Large tables with a lazy Susan in the middle. Old pictures from the 50's on the walls. I really wish it would have been better, but I just can't recommend it.

This place was a great surprise! The service was prompt, friendly, attentive, and make the experience memorable. The food was great. We had chicken, ribs, collard greens, corn, potatoes, cornbread, rolls, and likely some other things I forgot. The Apple cobbler dessert was great! This meal was a flat fee when you enter and the food just kept coming. The food is placed on a table that spins so you can bring the food right around in front of you. Look forward to visiting again.

Southern excellence, very tasty and abundant. Peach and apple cobbler with cookies completely satisfied my appetite.

We got there at 4pm for a drink--a really good old fashioned , but were so impressed with the place and the staff that we decided to stay for dinner. It was like one big happy family. They advertise no freezers, no fryers and no microwave--everything is made fresh daily. Highlight of the drive. For the first time, today was different. The very friendly young women who first greeted us and guided us through the menu years ago are gone. In their place are unfriendly young ladies who would far prefer to chat with each other than provide even acceptable-level service. We were tolerated, not welcomed or even checked on to see if we wanted anything. I waited and waited for her to notice me at about ten feet away as I waved my empty beer can in hopes of getting a second one. Finally I had to interrupt the conversation between the waitresses by raising my voice above their conversation, "excuse me, may I have another?" Again, we were there early today. Just before 5:00 PM. That is how timing works when you are on the road. So the place was nearly empty. They weren't busy with customers. They were busy chatting amongst themselves. As we completed our fried chicken (still very good), she came by and did not ask if we wanted anything else but simply said "ready for the check?" It was a way to make us feel like we needed to leave. To add insult to injury, we passed by the hostess table outside on our way to the car as we left and we happened to pass between two Champy's young female employees chatting at the hostess station and blocking the way out. We had to say "excuse me" and walk between then as they kept talking to each other. Never did they bother to say "thanks for coming, please come back soon." So maybe after all this time...we won't.

So as far as the atmosphere in the space, it's your typical corner chicken and fish joint. Nothing impressive. Everything's pretty dated and kind of the bare minimum to operate a restaurant. If you're expecting any level of class, this is not where you'd wanna go. To be clear, that's not a problem I didn't expect a high-end atmosphere just stating my observation. So I get to the counter I tell the lady I want a two piece Whiting and I explained that I've heard mixed reviews as far as underseasoned food and kind of soggy fries. I stated go heavy on the seasoning and I want the fries extra crispy Golden brown. She tells me that's not a problem. It'll be perfect perfectly seasoned very delicious. Extra crispy fries no problem. Great I pay for the food. Give her my name and I go sit down. Takes about 15 minutes for the food to come up as soon as I get it I can immediately tell the fries are undercooked and pale. But of course I try one anyway, and they're absolutely barely warm and soggy. Of course they're also underseasoned. So I go to the fish, which is hot. Take a bite of that also underseasoned. It's almost no salt at all on the outside of the fish. and we definitely have to mention the fact that the Whiting was so thin there was more breading then fish So I put a little bit of the tartar sauce on it, and some of their house special sauce, as well as a decent amount of salt from the shaker on the table, which helped out the fish a little bit. I don't know if it was the owner of the manager, but he had came back to the store while I was waiting and was walking around and I asked him for a fresh order of fries extra crispy, golden brown and he said yeah no problem he would take care of it. I'm waiting waiting waiting. I mean it's gotta be eight minutes go by. It feels like he finally brings out fries. Set them down mind you all my food is gone. I've been sitting there. I've ate my fish. I've ate the sides. I'm literally just waiting on the fries, which kind of kills the whole meal because I wanted to eat it together. He brings the fries and set them down and immediately take them back because they look exactly like the other ones, soggy and pale. So it takes them back to the kitchen drop them in the fryer again and cook some longer. About three minutes ago, but he brings them back out much better on the color and crispy, but still, of course significantly underseasoned. I'm not really sure why it's so difficult to make Golden brown fries that are not soggy or lukewarm. They're coming out of a hot fryer. They should be hot and served immediately with the food. For what it's worth I did eventually get crispy fries, but all my other food was gone. I didn't get to enjoy the meal as a whole meal and quite frankly all of it needed some extra love. They sprinkle like some paprika or something on the fries, but there's just zero salt and salt should be your number one seasoning on all of this stuff It sucks that I expressed all these concerns before ordering so none of it was an issue when I got the food and every issue that I brought up was present in my experience. I wanted it with everything for me to give them five stars but unfortunately, I have to settle on two stars.

You walk in and you choose your table and a nice waitress will bring your menus. We like the chicken strip basket which comes with two sides. Of our favorites are the fries, the collard greens, green beans, and mac and cheese. The chicken strips are very crispy, the meat is just a little dry but the flavor is great with even the mild level heat having nice heat. We also got the catfish which has a perfect crust and perfectly cooked inside. The baskets come with sauce and you get two per order. Probably more than you'll need. 3.75/5 -- The Flaming Rooster | Chattanooga, TN…read more I stopped by The Flaming Rooster while in Chattanooga, and overall, I'd give the experience a 3.75 out of 5. There were definitely some highlights especially the catfish and the service. The ambience has a real throwback feel. It isn't fancy or modern, but that's part of its character. It reminded me of an old-school neighborhood Southern restaurant, and I actually appreciated the nostalgia. Between the decor, the food, and a cup of Kool-Aid, there were moments that genuinely took me back. The service was one of the strongest parts of the experience. Janet was a 10/10--friendly, attentive, and provided excellent service throughout our visit. The kitchen staff was also very efficient, and our food came out hot and fresh. Missy, who rang us up, was hilarious and brought even more personality to the experience. The staff definitely made us feel welcome. Now, the food: Fried Catfish -- 10/10. Hands down the star of the meal. The catfish was fried perfectly, crispy on the outside, tender inside, and seasoned extremely well. This is what I would come back for. If you're visiting for the first time, I recommend starting with the catfish. Fried Chicken -- 7/10. Good, straightforward fried chicken. It was crispy and enjoyable, but nothing that completely separated it from other good fried chicken I've had. Still, I would order it again. Macaroni & Cheese -- 5/10. Not bad, just average for me. It worked as a side, but it didn't stand out compared with the catfish. The potato salad reminded me of Sam's Club potato salad, which actually isn't a bad thing because I like Sam's Club potato salad. It had that familiar, simple flavor. And the Kool-Aid mix deserves a mention. That took me straight back to childhood. Something about Kool-Aid alongside fried catfish and chicken just fit the throwback atmosphere perfectly. Overall, 3.75/5. The sides could be stronger, but the catfish was excellent, the service was outstanding, and the nostalgic atmosphere gave the restaurant its own personality. Janet and Missy helped make the visit memorable as well. If I find myself back in Chattanooga, I'd definitely stop by again. I also recommend giving The Flaming Rooster a try if you're in the area. And seriously-get the catfish. 10/10.

The restaurant attracts a distinctly local crowd, and it was completely packed when we arrived around 5 p.m. My mother has an early dinner schedule, so we were seated toward the back shortly after arriving. I ordered "broasted" chicken with black-eyed peas, okra, and a side salad. The salad was substantial and reasonably good. The black-eyed peas and okra were also fine, although neither was particularly hot. Unfortunately, the roasted chicken was extremely dry, and I had to order a side of white gravy to make it easier to eat. My wife ordered the meatloaf, which had an excessive amount of tomato-based topping. She had to scrape some of it off because there was simply too much. My mother ordered what I believe were chicken fingers, although she only picked at her meal, as she doesn't eat very much. The staff was friendly and made every effort to help us with drinks, napkins, and anything else we needed. That part of the experience was very positive. I also understand that Countryside Café was voted "Best of the Best" in 2026, an annual reader's-choice awards program presented by the Chattanooga Times Free Press; so clearly many people enjoy the restaurant. I wanted to like the place more than I did. A traditional meat-and-three restaurant is something worth preserving. Unfortunately, the dry chicken, lukewarm sides, and overly topped meatloaf made the meal underwhelming. The service was good, but the food was too mediocre for a four-star rating.

It was also a beautiful day so we sat on the patio. I love that they work with local organizations for fresh vegetables and meat! Our waiter was very nice and fairly attentive. But the food... For the good - the crab cake was delicious. It was like all crab meat with no filler and was very tasty. The pimento cheese was also SO yummy. You could tell it was made fresh and had a great flavor. The pita it came with was fine, a little over-grilled. I was not crazy about the fried okra. I wish the pieces weren't just cut in half, because to me they had that slimy okra texture inside. My gf said they weren't THAT bad, but I really had to push myself to eat them. The rosemary fries have a great flavor and were crispy (I prefer thicker fries but my gf enjoyed these). I LOVE mac and cheese and was super excited to try theirs. It was very creamy and had a good flavor but there was way too much cheese for the amount of noodles. Like the ratio was pretty off. Now for THE issue. My gf ordered the Filet Mignon, medium. It came raw and without the blue cheese compound butter. By the time the waiter came to check on us, I was half done eating. He took the steak to be put back on the grill and brought it back with a bowl of crumbled blue cheese. It was still raw inside. He brought us extra fries, but by the time it came back I was done eating. She asked for it to go and it was STILL RAW. She had cut it, so it was super obvious if you looked. The manager came and talked to us and they took it off the bill, but for a $40 filet mignon it should not take 3 tries to cook it right and it still not really be right. She said there are cold spots on the grill and they're training a new line cook, but it was not a good look... I'd maybe give more of a pass if they were packed, but there was no one eating inside and maybe two other tables of folks outside.
