Beard Papa's shares a location with Teazzi which is cool that you can grab something from both. I went with the original cream puff and the chocolate cream puff. They are filled after you order which is nice that they aren't just sitting there. They also had specialty flavors which I recommend trying out. They have a screen near the door where you can order which is convenient during their busy times.

I remembered seeing this new place on Newbury and becoming intrigued. It looked very inviting and who doesn't love cream puffs?! Inside is a very interesting layout. They have a large step-like seating area with cushions where you can enjoy the food and drinks offered. In addition to the cream puffs vendor, they have a tea shop where you can purchase a drink to go along with your dessert! Great business move. The puffs themselves are great, the custard is light and airy while simultaneously not overly sweet. They have lots of flavor options for the eclair shells like chocolate, strawberry and this green tea one we tried. It did have a taste reminiscent of white chocolate, which is yummy. I feel like this place is worth stopping at while looking around Newbury street, there aren't many places like it and I like that you can grab a single puff instead of paying for a whole box. TL;DR: Good place for a quick sweet treat if you're in the mood. Approved

EDIT: The business owner reached out to make amends and I was able to go back for the same order and it went great this time (forgot to take photos) - and I was able to get the event stickers as well. I ordered the limited edition Hololive event cream puff set because it looked tasty even though I ran into 2 red flags while ordering - 1. the menu kept flashing through different screens every second so it was hard to order, and 2. the girl at the counter didn't seem to know what she was doing (couldn't answer what the event set was so I had to take a pic of the screen). When I got home with the set I found all the cream puffs were underfilled with all oreo custard instead of different ones. There was no explanation of anything being unavailable while I was ordering and the puffs were definitely only half filled at best. And she didn't even give me the stickers that were supposed to be included! A handwritten sign in the store said they'd be available by 1/9. The store was completely empty the entire time I was there so it wasn't even an issue of being busy. I overpaid for these puffs AND gave a big tip for no reason.

Got to stop in here on newbury and it's a great place to grab a boba and some cream puffs and run! I personally enjoyed the ube topped puff with vanilla filling! The creamy and buttery texture was great! The matcha def brings the full body of the green tea out earthy and all. The frozen mango is cold cold and actually frozen haha. I was expecting more of an ice cream consistency, that was a tough eat for me in contrast to the puff pastry it's put into. I would personally stick to the normal cream fillings those were bomb! Thats just my taste tho i have sensitive teeth haha. Thank you Beard papa's will be back!

I grew up eating Beard Papa in San Francisco and was so happy when they decided to open up a location here. There's additional flavors that I haven't had before, like the frozen mango (which was great!), but you can never go wrong with the original or chocolate cream puffs. It shares a store with Teazzi so the seating area can be kind of small/awkward

Got the creme brulee cream puff. It was kind of confusing reading the menu because it tells me to pick the puff, and pick the filling. But they said the creme brulee already comes with the vanilla filling. It was delicious overall. Cream was delicious. The crisp on the puff/sugar was on point. Loved it.

Great place for a tasty snack during your Newbury shopping! Food: My first creme puff here was great! It had a light fluffy cream, flaky pastry, and a flavorful frosting topping. The frosting was a great addition to the mild sweetness of the base cream puff and really made it a proper sweet treat. Service: The employees were very pleasant nothing to complain about. Atmosphere: It's a pretty small space shared with another food vendor and the seating area is interesting to say the least. Beside that the mascot and decoration is very inviting.

The best cream puffs I ever had! I got the matcha puff and an original puff that comes with the grand opening coupon. They only have the vanilla bean custard right now and it is so light and perfectly sweetened. The custard is a perfect ratio to the puff pastry and it is such a light and fluffy treat. I had the matcha puff right away and I really enjoyed the matcha chocolate on top of the pastry, I think it makes such a good combo with the custard. I saved the original puff for the next day and I ate it right out the fridge. It was still so delicious and the puff pastry was still good! My only critique is that when I went they laid out all the puffs right next to the customers with no plastic or glass or any barrier. So we were literally standing right over the puffs which doesn't seem sanitary at all.

The pastry is crunchy. The matcha glaze on top is a bit too sweet for my taste but the matcha filling balances it out. Worth the try but I'm not sure if I would get it again. The store houses both Beard Papa's and Teazzi. There are a couple of tables but it's small place. There was no wait when I went on a Monday afternoon.

A solid snack but I actually feel like there's actually too much cream in the regular sized cream puffs. Overall not too sweet though and I'm willing to come back to try more flavors.

I hadn't heard of this brand before it opened up this location in Boston. I waited in line with some friends for the grand opening and received a tote bag, water bottle, and two coupons. On the opening day I ordered an original filling with a chocolate outside and one with a matcha outside. The chocolate outside was great, however, the matcha one tasted more like a white chocolate than a matcha flavor. The matcha outside had a very sweet taste that didn't quite pair as I would have liked best with the original filling. I know that the opening day menu is a bit different and didn't have all of the options, so I also returned for another day and ordered a matcha filling with an original outside. The matcha filling was great and had a light and airy quality to it. I was somewhat surprised to find that there was a spending minimum to use the coupons I had been given on the opening day...other than this I look forward to returning and trying any of the other flavors they come out with!

I'm pleasantly surprised! Puff pastries are made in house and have a choice of vanilla or matcha cream. I make cream puffs at home and wanted to compare, so I got plain stuffed with vanilla. The vanilla cream was too sweet for me, but the pastry part was perfect. I'd definitely come back to try the matcha cream, but I think the other puff toppings (strawberry glaze, Oreo, etc) would be too overwhelming. The inside doesn't have traditional tables to sit at, rather a raised platform with block seats. We just opted to eat standing which wasn't the most comfortable. Also there was a lack of napkins- the cream easily gets all over your fingers so I'd suggest to have more napkins in the space. Overall, happy to see a unique desert spot on newbury. Will come back :)

There was a short wait since they bake the cheesecakes fresh in batches, but it moved pretty quickly. The Original Japanese Cheesecake was warm, soft, and definitely lived up to its signature "jiggle." It's very different from a traditional cheesecake--much lighter, fluffier, and less sweet, almost like a cross between a soufflé and a sponge cake. If you're expecting a rich New York-style cheesecake, this isn't that. Personally, I enjoyed how light it was, and it didn't leave me feeling overly full. The staff was friendly, and the shop was clean and well organized. My only suggestion would be to have a few more seating options since it's mostly grab-and-go. Overall, it's worth checking out if you're in downtown Boston or curious about Japanese-style cheesecake. I'd come back again and would like to try some of their other pastries next time.

I ordered an Ube cheesecake and repeated my order as it seemed there might have been some miscommunication. I was in a bit of a rush due to limited parking and unfortunately didn't check my bag before leaving. When I got home, I realized I had been given a different cheesecake than what I ordered. I decided to keep it rather than return, as going back to Chinatown wasn't convenient at the time. The cheesecake itself was also disappointing in texture and freshness--it felt quite soggy and not as fresh as expected. Overall, the experience did not meet my expectations, and I don't think I would return.

I am always surprised at how full I am when I leave! I'm stuffed every time. There is complementary miso soup with all of the bowls I've tried, outlined below. I really loved all of the bowls I've tried but my favorites are probably the Sake Aisuru Don and Kuromon Don. I just prefer more salmon to more tuna though, and they're all very good! Food: - Sake Aisuru Don: their classic all-salmon bowl! I loved the larger cuts of salmon, and I was pleasantly surprised that even the more pulverized salmon was flavorful! - Kuromon Don: loved the yellowtail in this! Each fish comes with two pieces (except the mackerel for which there are four), and I liked the sampler style for the salmon, tuna, yellowtail, and izumidai. - Maguro Toro Don: so much tuna! And all such high quality. The otoro was so fatty that it practically melted in my mouth without chewing. - Sake Maguro Hamachi Don: a mix of salmon, blue fin tuna, and yellowtail. I liked the yellowtail in this a lot and found that it stood out the most from the other two fish in this particular bowl!

They have three tablet kiosks for self-ordering, and it's an intuitive UI, so the process was simple. Once I made my decision from their extensive list of options and combinations, it took me maybe 2 minutes from start to finish to build and submit my order. I ordered a large taro milk tea and it was everything I had hoped for. Flavorful, not too sweet, and the tapioca was a wonderful consistency. My only thing was that it was so busy and loud that the staff were unable to continuously call out when orders were complete, or you couldn't hear them. I eventually went up to the bar, noticed my drink had been sitting a few minutes, yelled over, "This is mine, thanks!!" Smiled, and then grabbed it. Beyond that? It was absolutely a great experience.
