My wife loved her broissant (a mix of babka and croissant) and my cheese and spinach burekas was a great savory breakfast. My daughter found their bagel softer than most and the cream cheese more like a slab of feta. My latte was not great. It wasn't balanced and tasted burnt. This is a local chain and it's pretty good. They have breakfast items, savory and sweet baked goods, coffee, drinks, sandwiches and babka, which appears to be their specialty. We went for a late morning snack and I really enjoyed the potato burekas, and the sandwiches looked pretty good too. The babkas were amazing. Both people who had the chocolate hazelnut babkas said they were incredible. My mom said it's one of the best she's ever had and she's had a lot. When you step in, it smells so good inside! I tried their chocolate banana babka, almond babka, and their classic chocolate one! I would say the chocolate one was my favorite! We were visiting from out of town and met up with family here. Special shout out to Kenedy who was lovely and was tremendously helpful and patient with everyone! Sometimes it's really cold outside and your kids are really whiny and the only thing you can really do is pour hot chocolate down their throats to get them to stop. Bakey is a good spot to stop to get said hot chocolate, and I actually really appreciate that it wasn't the temperature of molten lava, so I could pour it into my kids' faces almost immediately. Shout out to the very nice folks at the counter for that. Also, while you're in there, your local cousins may tell you that this place also happens to have some of the best babka in the city. So you get the chocolate and the almond (apparently their specialty), and you eat it, and you agree. I like this place. Will definitely come back and try their many offerings when I'm back in town. Stopped by to escape the chilly wind, and wow--this place is heaven for your nose and sweet tooth. And it smells divine in here! They're famous for their babkas, and it's easy to see why. When we visited, they had chocolate, raspberry, blueberry, and almond options: each slice is $6.50 ($6.90 for chocolate), or you can get a full loaf for $19.50. Other items on the menu included spinach & cheese burekas, goat cheese croissants, muesli rolls, and challah. We tried the chocolate and raspberry babkas. The chocolate babka is supreme: gooey, rich, and made with dark, high-quality chocolate that leans more bitter than sweet. Loved it. The raspberry babka wasn't my fave--dryer and a bit less indulgent. The tart raspberry flavor is nice, but I didn't like the sweet raspberry cream on top. But the babka base itself is fantastic: light, airy, buttery, and slightly sweet like brioche. They also serve Seattle's Caffè Umbria coffee, which pairs well with the pastries. I recommend getting a hot drink to enjoy with your pastry. We opted out since we already had coffee from another place. There's so many tables inside, water, and public bathrooms. You can watch them make the baked goods (bagels were in the works) and grab your coffee from the coffee bar or cross the street to enjoy in the Common. read more

Came to Bakey to try the Babka. What a delectable treat it was. We had the chocolate, banana, pecannnn babka. Highly recommend! It had so many flavors all harmoniously operating within the confines of the bread, so delicious! We washed it down with a hot lavender latte. OMG, Bakey! We have come here every time we go to Boston. The fresh chocolate babka is unparalleled. It's my favorite treat after running the marathon every year. A fantastic find for artisan baked goodies, bread, baked babka with flavors of strawberry, raspberry, chocolate, and more. The open layout allows to watch the entire baking process in action, adding to the authentic bakery experience. I always get their Too Good to Go bags, which are fantastic. I stopped by for lunch and got a salmon lox sandwich, an almond babka (which my friend swears is their best babka) and a lavender latte. The lox sandwich is premade and wrapped in plastic but the bagel was very soft and the whole thing was pretty good, albeit a bit small compared to other lox bagels I've had in the area. The almond babka is also excellent. I love all their babkas--haven't decided which is my favorite yet! I ordered the lavender latte kind of on accident, since it sounded intriguing, but I don't super like coffee. That said, the coffee was pretty good (for a coffee hater) and I gave the rest to my husband. My only gripes are that even when you're eating in, they give you paper plates and basically don't have any real silverware or reusable dishes. I suspect this saves money/time on dishes but unfortunately generates a lot of trash. Also, there isn't a comprehensive menu in this location. There are some menus that tell you what goes well with what but it doesn't appear to have everything that's available on the menu. The sandwiches, for example, had a separate menu display so it was hard to tell what you could actually order all at once without wandering around and checking out all the signs. read more

As soon as you walk in the door, you're engulfed by the scent of the bakery. It's so cool to have the open kitchen and to see the staff preparing all of the wonderful treats that Bakey has to offer. This is LEGIT a 10/10 establishment. The chocolate and almond babka were outrageously good. The seeded Challah was fresh, fluffy, and delicious. I like to pop by Bakey on days I work downtown for an excellent ice coffee and an inevitable pastry ! I believe the Babka's are their signature item and they do not disappoint - the Raspberry was especially delicious, a perfect sweet fruity tang surrounded by flaky pastry. The apple and chocolate are also outstanding, choco chip cookie top notch, and a premade bagel sandwich good (loved all the veggies on top). It's Kosher so it worked out perfectly when I was looking for a gift for a Kosher coworker and has a nice open, clean space looking out onto the Boston Common.
