Wait times can be hit or miss. Clean though. Sam Adams buried across the way. Food was good, drinks were well made and staff was friendly. Not sure if they even have AC inside, it might've just been struggling in the summer heat. We ended up outside and enjoyed it. It's a fun spot, not maybe the best if you've got kids with ya. The only place where you can drink a cold Sam Adams while looking at a cold Sam Adams. This pub is ok. I had the cheese fries with gravy and they were good. My friend had the nachos and they were very soggy. They do have a lot of beers on draft. I think this place is better for drinks than dinner. Our sever also did not want to take our order or come back to check on us. It would have probably been better to sit at the bar. read more

I wish I could give this place 3.5 stars, but it's closer to 3 than 4. I came here mainly because it's right across from Granary Burial Ground and I was cold and hungry. Service was good. They were very nice. My food was good. I have no illusions it was gourmet cooking, but the steak tips were juicy, cooked medium as I asked, and had a great flavor. The fries were hot and crispy. The drinks--were terrible. I had a mule, a Paloma, and an aperol spritz. None were made correctly. One was served without grapefruit and in a warm glass. This isn't a gastropub, so I wasn't expecting perfection--but these were all awful. So if you're a beer person, probably stick to beer. The menu is full of bar fare--cheese fries, fish tacos, burgers. There are renditions of the Reuben, beef stew, fish and chips, and more. Prices for entrees run in the low twenties range. This place does have a colorful local flavor. I really feel like this is a place locals hang out. The bartenders seemed to have regulars. If you're a pearl clutcher, this place isn't for you. You can hear profanity fly from time to time. There are TVs and pool tables. My drinks were terrible, but because it gave me an authentic Boston vibe, I'm glad I came here. read more

Nothing but great things to say about Beantown Pub! We are from out of town but have made sure to return every time we come into Boston -- specifically for Megan and her amazing espresso martinis! She took great care of us, and recognized us as soon as we came in because on prior occasions, we made it clear how awesome her espresso martinis were! She also showed us different ways that she has tried espresso martinis, and made a lot of creative drinks that were DELICIOUS. I would not recommend this bar to anyone in Boston. The bouncer was super strict , one of our older friends left their ID and we were all in 30's and up and had ID's and denied us entry. Absolutely ridiculous. The food is disgusting. The only reason why there are not getting a one star is for the drink options and they have a jukebox and some pool tables to play. Visited this establishment for the recommended, viewing of Sam Adams grave. Also got hooked on the Oktoberfest while in Boston. Darn this beer for only being seasonal, what ever will we drink the rest of the year. This was our first visit to Boston, so I had to do all the cliche stuff. Had the Boston baked beans. Stopped by here for lunch with my friends visiting Boston. I ordered the Popcorn Chicken, where they allowed me to choose two different sauces. Opted for Sweet Chili and Garlic Parmesan. Overall they were okay for bar food. Enough to fill me up and call it a day. Service was pretty decent. It was a fun place to look around in. It was convenient to get to. The wings were big with a nice sauce. I got the Paul Revere with a side of beans. The sandwich had a really good flavor. The beans were alright, I may have just been expecting more. The server was nice, we just weren't checked on after the food arrived...which too a LONG time. We did order wings and I know cooked to order they would take a little time but this was almost like the order wasn't rung in for quite a while. There were only two other tables and their food came out in a normal amount of time. I had to flag the server down for sauces ( I didn't notice any sauce on my sandwich) and drink refills. I was hesitant to try this place after reading the reviews, but it was pouring rain and I was exhausted and this was right next door to my hotel so I gave it a shot and I wasn't disappointed!! Plenty of room for social distancing and they're all doing great with the Covid safety measures. The staff were super friendly, welcoming and very attentive! And the atmosphere was very cozy! Especially on a rainy day - I had a cool seat at the window which was perfect for people watching on the busy street. The server recommended the Beantown Burger so I went with that and yum!! It was perfectly cooked (I got it medium) - had a great flavor and plenty of sauce and fixings. The fries were great too! And they had some deal where you pay an extra $1 with your drink and get a huge glass Sam Adams mug as a souvenir so how could I say no to that? I know it's a little touristy but it was fun lol. I also got the deviled eggs to go for my breakfast in the morning before heading to the airport and they were very decent! I love old pubs but this place was super dirty, my beer glass was dirty, and the bartender wasn't pleasant. Staff was cursing and talking about patrons in front of us, one of the bartenders was loudly complaining about having to make a drink that was ordered. I then watched her dig something out of the glass she prepared before serving it. Possibly an off day, but I definitely wouldn't recommend if you're traveling. Big place, love the pool tables. Definitely a fun place. The service was fine, but in my opinion the beer on tap was garbage (I'm not a fan of 'artisan' IPAs). The pool tables are why we came! They are cheap to play, and no goofy digital payments. Super grateful. Unfortunately they are pretty crammed in to the corner against the walls and as a result there are several blind spots around the table that you cannot get the cue on the ball because there is a whole wall in the way! Also, on of their cues was actually split down the middle longways, and I sliced my hand when I picked it up to use it. No worries, but sheesh please do some spot checks and get these questionable cues out of circulation haha! - 1 star because the beer selection was either cans of water or goofy IPAs, and because of the difficulty playing pool and the bad cues. read more

Mixed review: Service was disappointing. Our table (not in the bar, but within sight of the bar) was covered by the bartender. I could see him chatting it up with the bar customers, but our table seemed like an after-thought. His plopping down of the menus and then immediately walking away (without a greeting) was a rude way to begin, and there was little attempt to engage with our family. Visits to check up on us were few. The cleanliness was questionable, starting with the dirty and sticky menus. My son's sprite (ordered with no ice) was disgusting looking - there was a cloudiness to it and a few small bits of paper on the top. The bathroom does not offer paper towels, requiring you to turn a knob/handle with your bare hand (and we all know how many people don't wash their hands). We saw employees come out of that bathroom. I hope they are washing their hands again after using that door. Prices varied between fair and a bit high, but not unreasonably so given the touristy area. The food quality is good but nothing special. For example, "The Big Cheese" might have been a thick grilled cheese with a "wow" factor given the name, but it is just a simple little grilled cheese sandwich. A mac & cheese bowl and vegan sandwich were liked, and the fries were just OK. Overall, the pub did the job of feeding us without making much of an attempt to impress us. read more

Very standard pub offerings at an inflated price due to the good location. I definitely have enjoyed stopping in here on the freedom trail (to enjoy some Sam Adams beer across the street from Sam Adams' grave) but I definitely would not go out of my way to check it out. read more

We stopped on the Beantown Pub on a recommendation from my friend who visited Boston just before we were here. I would wholeheartedly agree with her recommendation! This was right across the street from the graveyard where many famous Bostians are buried (Samuel Adam's, Paul Revere, and Mother Goose). We went in just before dinner time and we're still able to get a seat right away. The server was quick to take our order and in the time we were there they switched shifts and the next waitress was just as attentive. The food was incredible! I had the Fenway Franks which made me feel like I was at a ballpark. My husband had the Fish and Chips and he said it was the freshest fish he's ever had. I ordered The Judy as my first drink and it was basically just vodka with a hint of lemonade so only order if you are feeling brave. They had pool tables and giant projectors playing sports so we ended up just sitting and hanging out for hours. I will never, ever go in here again. We walk and sit down, the bartender was keeping herself busy. Then she was done and was facing the bar, looked over her shoulder saw us waiting and walked away. For whatever reason she didn't feel like serving us. She then continues to find things to do after i saw her just picking up glasses and putting them down I decided to call her over. Horrible! Sat for 15 min at least. 7-10 people in entire restaurant/bar and two bartenders. Not sure if they had a server because I never seen anyone come to our table. Bartenders cleaning, pouring a beer for someone at the bar and one finally comes out. I am getting excited he is about to ask us for our drink and food order. NOPE walks past us to talk to two men standing at the entrance. Talks for at least 2-3 mins. Ok, he is done now he sees us, waving the menu (it's warm, I am thirsty) BIG Margarita on my mind. NOPE! He looks over and keeps on walking . Goes behind the bar and stands there! Dang... I am done! We stand up and walk out. Security or server who knows who he is because he just watched us leave. He is who greets you at the entrance (well he points and says sit where ever). Then brings you two menus at of course a dirty table. Thanks for my first experience in Boston, and the state. The trip was brief - Thursday evening to Sunday, but filled with family, fun, and some exploring. On Friday we explored Boston, focusing mostly on the Freedom Trail. We intended to travel, all four of us together... before our son set his freshman year in college courses. With Friday classes he didn't want to skip, so we arrived Thursday and he joined us on Friday. Given the flight time, we expected he'd be hungry when he landed. The Omni Hotel was helpful... their kitchen closed a little early... the French dip was tempting but would have been cold once our son landed ~ 11pm. The Omni pointed us to Beantown Pub. I walked over early to plan... the traffic on the street was heavy for a Friday night and we didn't want to be late... and we didn't know the streets. I found Corey who helped me determine when to leave to get to the airport, and to get the order before then... and a little bit later Corey got the burger and fries for us and we were on our way. Corey's directions were HELPFUL and got us to our son, at Logan Airport, on time... the food was still warm, and good... though, sadly, he was so hungry there wasn't even a single bite of the prime rib + chuck burger for me... c'est la vie... at least I got some of the fried pickles and bacon slides and a couple fries - all good. Ugh. What's up with restaurants in Boston not staying open late on a Saturday night and/or stopping food service early? And that's how we wound up here. They have a late night menu. It's an insanely crowded and rowdy bar with mostly young kids. Definitely not our scene. The table service was incredibly slow and it was difficult to get the attention of our server. And the food wasn't even that good. It's fine for the pub food that it is. But it's basic crap any kitchen can turn out. And definitely don't ask for anything extra, like a sauce or a lemon wedge. You won't get it. In fact, you'll be forgotten about until you flag down your server because you don't want to ditch and dine.
