The Organic French Roast Coffee is "To Die For." I just happened by one day and Wow! Absolutely the best coffee I have ever had!

Very cool, non-major chain coffee place. It's cool that you pay for the coffee, get a cup, and then choose from several brews (in pots) which one you want and dispense it yourself. I usually go to Starbucks for my coffee, but Beanery Coffee gave me a different outlook. Here, I got a quality, delicious drink and the prices for were very reasonable. I was a first-timer today, and I tried the Caramel Latte. I do plan on coming back for this drink and also to try the others that Beanery Coffee serves. Love to come here especially after I'm disappointed by the crappy Starbucks on the opposite corner. I usually go for the Soy Latte. The beans are fresh and roasty, and they even finish off the foam on top with an artistic touch. You can feel the love compared to the baristas at Sbux who tend to move like molasses and pour watered down beverages. read more

Cute place. I've only had tea here, and I guess it's hard to screw bag tea up, so my review will be short. The barista was really friendly, and the tables are attractive and nice. I like The Beanery as my local coffee shop. However, it seems that when they get busy, the employees have a hard time dealing with the orders. I was the only person ordering and I asked for my bagel with cream cheese on the side. After I paid, they suddenly got a rush of to-go orders, all of which (some bagels) were ready before mine. I went up to the counter to inquire, and the barista said off-handedly, oh yeah, here is your order. Cream cheese was slathered on it. I said, "I asked for the CC on the side." She answered "Oh I didn't catch that." And proceeded to offer me the order. This is plain bad customer service. Cream cheese doesn't make or break my day. Had she been a little nicer, I would have taken the bagel. I just stared at her and she was like, "Oh, do you want a new one?" And I answered yes, just for her lack of customer service. As a former local coffee shop barista who has handled lines of 40 customers single-handedly, I was not happy with her attitude and lack of professionalism. read more

I like this coffee shop. They have great coffee, nice looking pastries (I didn't try any yet), and it's a nice atmosphere. I had a hot chocolate and it was delicious. The service was super friendly. I bet the tables get taken up quickly on a weekend, but I went on a weekday night and had no trouble grabbing a table. The wi-fi signal was strong. They sell end-of-the-day pastries for $1. I was craving coffee as I was getting my car fixed in the area. This place is a gem with deliciously smooth coffee. I had the Caramel Latte which was lightly flavored and did not overpower the espresso. They have a decent assortment of baked goods. Every table was occupied as I was walking through to order at the counter. The baristas were really nice and I waited a few minutes for my drink. Lively atmosphere for a small cafe. read more

best tasting coffee in the sunset. if you want a plush chair and couch to sit on, go to the chain... but if you wan great coffee in a great shop, go here. small tables are available, and are comfortable. good selection of teas, chai, hot and cold drinks, and pastries. good servers who know how to make what you order, and you don't have to say wierd names or do it in a specific order. good tasting coffee roasted well, no bitterness, fresh tasting and not too oily. read more

Mmmmm...: Took Mike and Serena here for a coffee break after a hike up to Grand View Park/Moraga Hill, and they enjoyed the coffee and even the organic pistaschio cookie. (Normally, I don't care for organic, but this was good!) I have also been there for writing practice...and loved people-watching from the rows of tables lined up along the wall facing the roaster. read more

A very good coffee shop/cafe. Super good lattes with very friendly service and the prices are reasonable especially for the quality of the coffees you are drinking. The staff are owner with offer you a warm smile. It's a place you can feel relaxed and comfortable in. And I don't think they mind you sneaking in pastries from Arizmendi Bakery right up the street. Just order a large coffee and be kind with a tip. Until they prove otherwise they get five stars. read more

I used to live in the inner sunset and this was my favorite cafe. The people are friendly, the coffee rocks, and the cafe is small and cozy. The only downside is that it's often hard to find an empty seat. read more

Great cup of coffee, the light roast decaf has all the robust flavor of a dark roast with no bitter after taste, so if your near by one, skip the Starbucks and go here instead. read more

i've been coming here for years and LOVE this place. they have the best coffee in the inner sunset and the NICEST staff ever. unlike the zillion other chain coffee stores out there, this coffee has flavour and tastes good. they also have a GREAT selection of teas, should you not want to go the coffee route. ambiance is great, love the old coffee roasting machine and the beans adorning the walls. and the photo of billie holiday in front of a mic... love, LOve, LOVE!!! want one for my house. what can i say? i also love, LOve, LOVE this coffee shoppe and the awesome crew that works here. thank you beanery, for getting me through so many long days and rough mornings! read more

I went here in the middle of the day after walking around the city with a date (brown chicken brown cow!) The coffee was sooo fragrant, the flavors soo bold and delicious! I got the caramel latte, my companion got an Americano. It was definitely something to remember. If I'm ever around here again, I'll definitely be hitting this place up again! 5 stars for their latte and medium roast coffee. I've picked up ground beans of the dark French roast but it tasted a little too Burnt for me which is why I switched to the medium, brews perfectly. Lattes are smooth and get the job done (waking me up for those brutal Monday mornings), staff are great, I live up the block so this is my go to. I love this place! The staff are always really friendly and have gotten used to my orders and usually finish my sentences. The only minor thing that would make this place better is big comfy sofas/chairs inside... but otherwise usually a lot of seating inside and outside. I am writing this not because I don't like the place, but in the hopes that the owner reads this posting. Coffee/desserts/staff are great. It's the owner's sarcasm that I can't stand. True, he does greet people nicely as they walk by him outside (he often sits out there smoking a pipe), but inside, he has a real problem with a cynical attitude. I went in there in the morning to buy coffee & a scone & he was already out of scones at like 10am. I said, "Would it be possible for you to order a few more scones?" And he said (in a pretty nasty voice), "And are you going to guarantee me that you will come in and buy them all??" Weird. Then yesterday, we went in & my friend ordered tea. The owner took the tea bag & started to rip it open. My friend (who likes her tea weak) said, "Oh please don't put the tea bag in- I'd like to do it" and the owner says with sarcasm, "Do you want to pour your own hot water, too?" Unnecessary rudeness and sarcasm, apparently his modus operandi. Almost makes me want to get me coffee across the street at Starbucks. Blech. read more

The employees here generally are amazing. The owner leaves something to be desired in terms of being way too harsh on the people he's not paying enough to treat that way, in general. The coffee is pretty good, the food isn't good enough, and the atmosphere varies according to the clientele. The coffee is excellent, staff is friendly and talkative (really nice barista made mention of how it's great that I can drink 4 shots). They have a decent array of pastries, also. The place is often full, so there is rarely a lot of room to sit and it's also cash only (and I forget to hit the ATM frequently). Overall, a very consistent place to get one's caffeine fix. read more
