Wow, I'm impressed. I've been meaning to stop by this cafe for the longest time. The aroma of the fresh roasted coffee beans linger each time I pass by this cafe. I had the pleasure of enjoying a cup of Joe today and loved every sip. Well actually, my first few sips were ultra sweet. I asked the barista if I could add a bit of coffee to counteract the sweetness. She offered to adjust it by either adding more cream and or an espresso shot. I opted for the latter. She was super nice and accommodating. Once she added the shot, it was PERFECT! I'll make sure to note that I'd prefer light sweetness when ordering next time. Stopped at Beanery during an afternoon break and picked up their iced mocha after seeing a few people around me ordering the same thing. The line moved steadily even with a decent crowd inside, and the person at the register was friendly without sounding scripted. The drink itself had a smooth coffee flavor and wasn't overloaded with chocolate like some places do. I also liked that they got the order right the first time since I made a couple small changes to it. I stayed for about half an hour to answer emails, and the atmosphere stayed pretty relaxed the whole time. Stopped here between events and had their matcha latte made with soy. It was on the pricey side (got the large), but, wow, it was so good! It had a really nice matcha flavor that I could taste and it was exceptionally creamy and smooth. Maybe one of the best matcha lattes I've ever had! My friend had a regular coffee and she said her coffee was really good, too. She got a chocolate chip cookie and ate most of it. I didn't ask her how that was and I didn't have any of it, but it looked good although I'm more of a chocolate chip and nut cookie lover; maybe it could've used a few more chocolate chips, though. This coffee shop looked like the perfect place to grab coffee and something to eat and get your work done online. There are tables and chairs lined up along the wall so you could do a whole lot of people watching, too. If you want to sit outside, they have tables and chairs out there, too. Found another cozy work cafe! I was waiting for my hair appointment and needed to find a place to focus on some projects, so stumbled upon this place! I've actually walked past many times and have never been until now, but there's always a ton of people sitting outside so it's definitely quite popular. I managed to snag the only open table left inside, and I'm quite happy and comfy! I ordered a hot latte, and the friendly and efficient barista whipped it up in under 1 minute and it's beautiful and tastes pretty good! The WiFi works really well and I had no issues connecting. Overall I would come back! My only issue is that this area is pretty difficult to find free parking, and there are a couple schools and tons of good restaurants around, so sometimes I am circling for a while. It also gets super foggy in this area, but that's just SF! Would recommend to anyone looking for a chill, relaxing atmosphere! read more

The Vietnamese coffee was perfect! Sweet and strong - the ideal pick me up before conquering a yoga class down the street. The medium was also huge and only $4.25. The person in the front was super friendly and I love how there seem to be flocks of locals always conversing out front. This seems to be a favorite spot by the neighborhood and I can see why. My husband and I have been frequenting The Beanery for about 4 years. It is an inner Sunset neighborhood coffee house, where the coffee drinks are the best in the city. There are other places a block away, that don't come close to the quality and flavor that The Beanery has. They also have other drinks including Chai teas, cappaciunos, lattes that are superb. They also have great pastries, bagels, etc. They have items on the menu, all delicious. The staff is warm and friendly and we have been buying dark French roast whole beans for 4.years. Everyone seems like family, talking to each other or just doing their thing. It is our favorite hangout in the city. We like hanging out in the outside to watch the scene and have fun!! If you get one of the house blends, you can literally custom make your own latte because they have different hot coffees on tap for you to choose from in addition to sweeteners and creamer. It's the perfect place for a cozy conversation or to tackle a crossword puzzle. I wouldn't recommend coming with more than two people, though. I visited on a Sunday morning with a friend, and even though the tables are packed side by side, there's still a sense of privacy and space for an intimate chat. I love coming to the Beanery for coffee or to study! This place is a local coffee shop on Irving and does everything just right. This location has more seating than the one on 7th, so I like to frequent this place! It definitely can be crowded so don't be surprised if you come in the afternoon to find no seats available. Unfortunately, there is a lack of plugs, but they do have wifi! I usually order the Caramel or Vanilla Lattes ($5.15 for medium). The coffee flavor is distinct and not too bitter or strong. Personally, I like a little bit milder coffee flavor. The sweetness is also perfect its not over done and doesn't leave an artificial taste in your mouth. My go-to is always the iced vietnamese coffee - very strong but also very sweet. I love the flavor and it is a great afternoon pick me up whenever I need to get some work done! I honestly don't notice any difference between the flavor from here and the location on 7th avenue so I just go to whichever is more convenient (even though they are only 2 blocks away from each other). This location does have significantly more seating though (+ free wifi!), so I would recommend it for anyone who wants to get some work done or just hang out and read in a classic coffee shop vibe. They don't have outlets though so plan accordingly. Also I noticed that most people keep to themselves and it is a fairly quiet environment (wouldn't necessarily recommend it if you plan on talking loudly or have extended meetings), but it makes for a great place to work independently in a nice neighborhood coffee shop! read more

I drink tea (not coffee), so I usually get either some black tea or chai. They do have a few different non-dairy milks, including oat, but unfortunately upcharge for it (like most places.) Some things I would like to see: -Matcha latte's -Vegan pastries If they added one (or both!) of the above, I would spend a lot more time and money here. However, my girlfriend left her phone behind and we didn't discover it until we were already in the East Bay. Called back to speak to someone and Akbar answered. He is the owner. He had not only found the phone but once we told him we were in the East Bay, he offered to bring it to us in Berkeley as he lives nearby. What an amazing gesture and he went above and beyond to make sure that we were not inconvenienced. I told him he had customers for life in us and we look forward to visiting his shop again soon!! Some of the best sidewalk seating in the city -- ideal for a sunny morning. They frown upon enjoying pastries from Arizmendi while enjoying their coffee. Be warned. Came on a Wednesday morning at around 9:30am. There was no line. For the espresso drinks, they're listed on the menu by the amount of shots you add, not by size. I ordered a single shot mocha. Coffee was good and hot. I thought the coffee flavor was nice, but there a a bit too much milk. Maybe I'll try a double shot the next time. The balance of chocolate and coffee was good though. A busy local coffee shop. It's not your hyper fancy upscale cafe, but more for the neighborhood residents to stop by quickly to grab their caffeine fix. To that purpose, they do a good job! I got a flat white, and it was straightforward. Solid flavors, with maybe a bit too much acidity for me, but overall a good cup of coffee. Definitely strong; if memory serves me right, their standard is a double shot. I'm more of a fancy decor coffee shop person, so not necessarily the best cafe for me.
