Yummy! What a beachside treat. My friend and I picked a beer from an eclectic draft beer collection. They did not disappoint. We both had fresh trigger sandwiches. Found the joint on Yelp and thought we'd give it a try. First, it is directly beside the beach. Second, they can park about 8 cars and they are tight. Third, inside is kinda small for seating but it's decent outside. So be prepared to be bumped a bit depending on where you sit. Well, our server was a little dry but she did a good job. The food was delivered timely and at a nice temperature. Everyone seemed to enjoy what they got. I got the chicken sandwich with fries. Not bad... It was a beach spot which I guess is what you come for. I'd eat there again but will try a few other spots first. read more

Great Fresh Seafood : fried shrimp were a good size ,not greasy ,very tender and juicy ! Crab cake was delicious and a generous size portion and the Oysters were simply magnifique! The Key lime pie was also terrific not to sweet just the perfect end to a delicious meal We sat outside and there was a cool ocean breeze even though it was 90', rainstorm came through and we stayed completely dry under the roof ! The Beachcomber is just off of the beach in St. Augustine. It looks like your run of the mill shack that's just waiting for the next hurricane to wash it out to see, but it looks to have persevered for a long time. This is the place you want to go for some decent food and fun. It has a lively atmosphere without having music blaring into your skull. Service is friendly and the prices are reasonable. The food was very good, both in quantity and quality. Liliana was our waitress and was extremely nice. Location is close to the beach. The Indoor seating and parking is limited. A portable hand held credit card reader is used in lieu of a paper bill. The device only showed a final bill total, which you pay and then you have an option to have the receipt sent electronically or printed. Not a fan of these devices because it makes it harder to see details of what you are being charged for ahead of your payment unless you ask, but it does have its benefits of a speedie process. read more

So this is our second time attempting to go to this restaurant. The first time we just could not find parking. The parking is truly embarrassing, but it's in such a great spot. You can definitely walk here. Anyway, after waiting about 15 minutes, we got a table that was in the sand. That was kind of cool I guess. Our waitress name was Kim I think and she was very good. Very attentive and made sure all six of us had everything we needed. Service was very fast drinks and entrées and I was actually pretty surprised. I had the trigger fish and it was outstanding. The potato salad was trashcan. Lol. Let me rephrase, potato salad was just not my style, but everything was pretty good. Also spicy clam chowder. Everyone seem to enjoy their meals and no one had any complaints. Other than parking in which we walked and the potato salad that I should not have ordered in the first place , this place gets five stars from me. No issues. read more

Stopped in and felt like we were at home. We are from Ohio and even though we kick Penn State's butt every year. A local gentleman greeted us with love and a smile. Hard to beat a restaurant on the beach, in the sand. It is mostly outdoor seating, but basically all covered or with an umbrella so you don't have to be in the direct sun. In the winter they have large heaters if it's chilly. Beware - wait times here can be long (don't come here starving); when they say it's an hour wait, they mean it. You can get drinks at the bar and grab a high top chair or stand on the sidewalk/street outside. I always do something with the fish of the day - the plate entree, the sandwich, the Reuben. It's always a good price for an entree, plenty of food. I've never been amazed wow'ed by the fried shrimp, the hush puppies, or the appetizers. I like the veggie side and beans/rice. Really nice staff here! They are busy! Note - there is limited parking. Bike or walk if you can! read more

The only reason I'm giving this 2 stars is because the server Russel was great. Other than that the food was absolutely terrible. My husbands wings were completely slimy and soggy. I ordered the poke bowl that had no flavor and the rice was barely cooked. My 1 year old loves food and eats just about anything and wouldn't touch anything but her fries. What a gem! We found this spot by accident but glad we did. It's basically a "seafood shack" right on the beach. However, don't expect grand views of the water as there are dunes blocking the view. But it's still a wonderful setting. Our server was polite and attentive. The food was super fresh and delicious. I had the giant Ruby red shrimp and blackened wahoo. As I waited my 45 min wait for a table my friend and daughter went walking and I sat in the middle of the bar. With 2 couples on each side of me and a great Bartender I started to have a time! Everyone was so talkative and friendly and really HaPpY. :) My table finally came up in the patio so I moved out with my company and enjoyed the best fish n chips I have had in a while. My end result was this stop made my day. Another great meal at Beachcomber! IMO, this very casual, beachy restaurant has the best food on these local beaches. Unfortunately, the first two menu items I ordered tonight they ran out of (Covina sandwich and Salmon BLT). I opted to go to my old standby, the fish Reuben sandwich, as it is always excellent. Side of their totally awesome dill potato salad and an extra side of red beans & rice rounded out the meal. They have a decent craft beer offering as well. One nit during this visit is that the outside pinic table I sat at was extremely sticky. read more

The best thing about this place was the drinks! They were beautifully presented and I finally found a place that puts actual, noticeable alcohol in an alcoholic drink. The second best thing was the nice, beachy vibe and the breeze blowing through the open -air seating area. The food was good. My daughter in law had the blue crab ravioli, I had the shrimp and grits (spicy), but lots of shrimp, my husband had the lamb gyro and my son had a Caribbean? fish plate. We all liked our choices. They were only warm upon arrival. My grandson enjoyed his kid's shrimp basket. All the fries were limp and cold, except the side order basket of fries for my granddaughter, which was hot and the fries crispy and delicious. What really put a negative on my experience was this. We arrived at 530. 25 minute wait. No problem. It's Florida during the tourist season. (The wait around 630 pm was probably double). After we arrived, a young couple arrived with several children. They appeared to be well known to the staff, as the children were being handed over the hostess stand and hugged by the hostesses and other wait staff. I knew this young mom was probably also wait staff, visiting on her day off. After they arrived, it wasn't but 10 minutes before they were seated in a booth which should have been ours. Ten minutes after that, they asked to be moved two booths behind, where the sun wasn't slanting in to their faces. Technically that should have been our booth as well, by default. So then their booth was cleaned and THEN we were seated, in the rejected booth that should have been ours in the first place. I questioned the hostess about why they were seated before us, when they came after us. She said, well, they're our wait staff family, so they were seated. I said that's BS. She just shrugged. Bad, bad policy right there. Insulting. Honestly, it made me so damn mad, good thing my margarita kicked in and it had a pretty flower in it. read more

While walking barefoot down the beach, my friend said that there was a restaurant just off the beach. We stopped in and were seated at a table outside in the sand. When asked if we needed shoes, the hostess said "absolutely not". It was so cool to sit with our feet in the sand. I ordered a local brewery red ale. It was very good. I also had grouper tenders and a cup of seafood chowder. Both were amazingly delicious. My friend had Minorcan clam chowder. It had just the right amount of spice and was tasty. I am sure that if we are walking the beach here again this will be a must stop. read more

What a fantastic spot! Dog Friendly! Right off the beach. Beautiful view and excellent food. The steamed shrimp (cold) were delicious. Our food came out right after the shrimp did our table wasn't very big so we had to scramble to keep everything out of the sun (half the table was in the sun). The Ahi Tuna Tacos were good. They had a ton of seaweed on them. That took away from the delicious sauce and tuna. The red beans and rice were also very flavorful. The po'boy shrimp were lightly breaded and the tarter sauce was great! THE FRIES THO... super crispy and just great fries. The drinks were good- the smash was very sweet and rum heavy. My mojito was tasty, no heat in the jalapeños, but a delicious combo. Definitely check them out if you are in the area! read more

Walked down the beach from the pier and discovered this gem. We were able to sit outside and enjoy the weather and scenery. Annika (sp) was our server and so nice, helpful and knowledgeable. Didn't get the managers name but ask him where he sources their gator from, one of his favorite topics. We had the gator tail, seafood chowder and clam chowder with no complaints. read more

Yes, yes, and yes!!! We really enjoyed our experience beachomber. We decided to take a long weekend getaway in St Augustine and were looking for a beach side restaurant. After some debate and calling around to find out that some restaurants are not dog friendly, we decided on beachcombers. Atmosphere: - Exactly what we hoped for. Chill vibe, casual and right on the beach. While we had a long wait (an hour or so) it was great to walk along the beach while we waited. We were seated in the back next to the sand dunes, again, perfect. Food: - Coconut shrimp: yummy with an excellent sauce. - The wife has the fish spread platter with what seemed like homemade pita chips (those were amazing). - We also shared the stuffed catch. Trigger fish with a crab cake a delicious pineapple salsa over wild rice. Everything had lots of flavor and was cooked well. Drinks: - Cilantro pineapple margarita was incredibly. I highly recommend. - mocktail mojito: also delicious for you non-alcohol drinkers. This place was a win for us. If we are ever back in st Augustine this will certainly be a stop!! read more

My beautiful wife and I visited Florida for the weekend. It was her first time being there and she really wanted to see the beach. I wanted to find a cool place to eat on the beach and get some seafood. I found this place and it didn't disappoint. I love the beach vibe this place gave off. It had coconuts hanging from the ceiling decorated to look like faces. Very creative! I ordered the Duo, which was fried fish and fried shrimp with two sides. I got the red beans and rice and an order of fries. My beautiful wife ordered the fish Rueben sandwich. Both dishes were simple, unpretentious, every man kind of meals. Very tasty! My fish and shrimp were fresh and the fries were delicious! The only drawback was my red beans and rice. It was bland. It needed some salt and maybe a spicy kick. My family and I were staying nearby for a weekend in St. Augustine and were keen on eating on the beachfront. BC is definitely a laid back and scenic experience. It appears popular with locals as it was fairly crowded for a Sunday night. The staff was definitely friendly and got us seated quickly in spite of the crowd. While we were happy to be seated quickly, we were a bit surprised by the long wait for the food to be served. From the time we order until being served was nearing an hour. Seems just a bit too long for some casual sandwiches, but since we were vacationing, we didn't sweat it too much. The food was tasty and very location appropriate. I had the fish reuben and really enjoyed it. The fries and macaroni we had as sides weren't super memorable. But the fish was definitely fresh and enjoyable. Given the scene at this establishment, I'd say it's for more of the bar crowd than the foodie crowd. That okay though, we were happy just to be on the beach front. Outstanding experience! I asked my hotel's front desk clerk for a locals got-to seafood joint, and she was spot on. Beachy ambiance, wonderful menu choices, and terrific service made for the perfect family dinner. Fresh trigger and awesome crab cake! Sit outside for more elbow room. The first time we went we loved it. The location is really the best part about this place. I am always happy that they monitor the parking. The food is less than ideal. We keep going back wanting it to be better, but leave somewhat disappointed each time. I got the crunchy mahi tacos. Even with the sauce on it, the tacos were very bland. I even put on a lot of salt and pepper and if still had no taste. My husband had a half of andouille sausage with rice and beans. Again it had very little flavor. The drinks were good and they had our favorite kind of beer, but they were a little pricey. It's unfortunate because the staff is super friendly and the location is great.
