The fish dip is amazing, some of the best we've ever had. Highly recommend. My husband got the Buffalo shrimp sandwich and said it was good but he wouldn't get it again. I got the coconut shrimp taco special and it was SO GOOD! The side was fried pickles since it was a special, I would recommend it again but for an appetizer not a side. Cool little restaurant and bar on "A Street" right next to the beach. Definitely a great beach vibe. The servers are fantastic and love to talk with you. The fish sandwich I had was made with triggerfish, which is one of my favorite fish, and it tasted delicious. The lettuce was crisp, tomato was fresh, and the fish was blackened beautifully. What's amazing is Garratt, upstairs bar, in the middle of rush hour he was attentive and made our drinks and all our requests as far as appetizers, starting with the red shrimp peel and eat, he asked if we wanted them served cold or warm. The starter was the calamari, which was soft. Too bad the quantity was minimal, with an over abundance of red peppers. The only hiccup was the shrimp appetizer, being delayed 40 minutes, after arriving was to our liking. Without any input, we had another half a pound delivered to us for the delay of original order. After so many restaurants advertise 'beachside' despite being fairly far from the beach, we were pleasantly surprised to find that this restaurant was actually right up next to the beach. Service was great, the waiter was humorous and conversed with us while he took orders and refilled drinks. He recommended the Southern Special of beef tips and potatoes, and it turned out excellent. Every year, for the past 20+ years, we spend a week here, in St Augustine. Beachcomber is our number one place to eat & drink every year(and nearly every day). This year (2025) we were disappointed in the gator tail appetizer, for the first time ever. For 14.00, the portion was terrible. We got more in our 1/2 pound of ruby red shrimp then we did in our gator tail for almost the same price. I truly hope they will correct this issue as soon as possible. I enjoyed Beachcomber on a regular Saturday afternoon. It was just before the storm. I was able to sit beachside and enjoy a wonderful meal and a great breeze. We recently visited St. Augustine Beach and based on the Yelp reviews decided to go to Beachcomber during our time there. We chose Beachcomber because they had many food options on their menu and it was dog friendly, of course we took our 3yo Chihuahua furbaby. It's right off the beach, so there will be sand lol which was fine. Though I didn't go inside Beachcomber reminded me of a place out of a movie, the set up, staff,!the weather was good pretty good.... There was an area outside with higher chairs, almost bar like, there were also wooden benches, larger and smaller, depending of course on the party size. There were outdoor ceiling fans posted up. The hostess was friendly, gave our pup some water. The waitress was attentive, got our order right, and checked on us throughout. The food was solid, my husband got a burger and fries and he mentioned it was very good. I got gator bites and a Caesar salad, both very good, I actually took some of the gator back to the hotel, it was extremely good, with this sauce that had a little sweetness to it, enhancing the overall flavors. Parking ; there is a lot right outside, it's small but we got a space. When in St. Augustine we will be sure to visit Beachcomber again, maybe next time we can dine in. If you're looking for the perfect beach side restaurant then Beachcombers is where you need to be. It's literally where the good food and refreshing cocktails meet the sun sand and surf! A perfect combination for a fun afternoon or delightful evening. It was such a wonderful experience I'm not sure where to begin, except to say in our 4 day vacation in St.Augustine and with all the cool places to dine we ate here twice in 4 days. The entire team worked so well together. Hostess with the servers, and the servers with the bartender and kitchen. Very cool to watch. All the servers were awesome and always smiled and cheerful. For me that's kinda a big thing. It puts the salt on the Margarita! Lol For appetizers the basket of Steamed Shrimp is definitely the way to go! Specialty marinated and spices made this such a tasty starter. For the mains the Oysters Po Boy with Red Beans and rice was amazing. Huge oysters and plenty of them! Also the coconut shrimp was crispy and tender on the inside and with the Orange Marmalade Horseradish Dipping Sauce made it amazing. It's on the beach! It's small, and the apps that we had were fine. It's kind of what you'd expect from a beach shack restaurant. The beer was cold, lots of fried options along with seafood, and sand between your toes. We grabbed beers and some calamari. The calamari was chewy and over fried. We also got the Italian option, which meant they just threw banana peppers on time and sprinkled some parm. I wouldn't order it again, but might try some other items. The bathroom and the walk to the bathroom left something to be desired - and a "hold your breath" as you walk past what, I assume was, the grease traps (my kid decided she'd rather hold it than go). You come here because it's a beach shack restaurant and that's what you expect. read more
