We arrived to try this place out after living in the area for a longer time but we have never been before. On a boring Thursday, we thought why not go for breakfast . First of all, we found parking in the back but we were more lucky than anything because parking was tight. We made the mistake of coming in from the back - but when we finally made it to the front, we were able to requested a table for two. Restaurant was busy and apparently, many tourists know about this place - I guess I need to learn more about O'side! Wait time was 15min but we were able to get a nice booth on the side. However, the table was sticky and we had to request for someone to come and clean it again. Since it was busy, it was also a bit loud - communicating across from each other - we had to speak up! I did like the decorations and pictures - but I wished I knew some things or someone could explain it to me what some pictures mean! Our waitress was really sweet and kind and really tried to make our experience better. The food was ok, they messed up my order twice and since we were trying different restaurants for breakfast that week, it wasn't as great as some others close by. My only highlight was our waitress who even saw that the kitchen didn't do what was requested. You can try it out but I unfortunately, wouldn't come back. Coffee cake - We made sure to order the infamous coffee cake and we were not disappointed. It was sweet, warmed, and moist - everything you'd want from a coffee cake. Great execution and presentation. Awesome omelette - As the name suggests, it is awesome! It's full of ingredients and with a side of hash browns, it's filling! Biscuits and gravy - moist fluffy biscuits always pair well with gravy. It's comfort food! Mickey Mouse pancake - it's cute and big for a three year old but light on the sugar makes it less of a guilty pleasure. The face is a bit sad due to the bareness and probably could use a side of fruit or something. Breakfast classics - eggs were cooked perfectly and we were fans of the bacon. The coffee cup they served me was from the city we took our honeymoon in, 33 years ago...and our wedding song even played (yes, the Oldies, ha ha) while we were there. What are the odds??? Amazing! We visit Oceanside 1-2 times each year and have somehow missed eating at BBC. That will never happen again. Our inaugural visit was Super Bowl Sunday morning around 11:30am and we had a very short wait...maybe 10 minutes. There are different seating options: booths, round and rectangular tables, and bar seating. It is roomy and easy to get around. It almost seems there could be a couple more tables squeezed in but it all felt good and easy to walk by to get around. The food!! They have a pretty good list of items to choose from with breakfast and lunch options. Everyone should be able to find something their liking. We ordered the chile verde omelette/hash-browns, mahi mahi burrito with chile verde sauce, mushroom burger/fries, corned beef breakfast, and 2 sides of coffee cake (huge slices) was chosen. I read something about BBC being known for their coffee cake. We could see why. The flavors were amazing. My son said it was all clearly made with love. I'm not sure I could explain it any better. I didn't see anything out of place on any of our plates. Food was overflowing and just tasty. The brewed ice tea was flawless. That will definitely bring me back. Our server, Christine, seemed to know what we needed. We asked for salsa and she brought out a homemade salsa and hot sauce. She also finished my sentence regarding a to-go cup for my tea. For one the service was terrible. They made me and my companion uncomfortable and like we didn't belong inside the restaurant. They have an extensive menu, breakfast and lunch that well exceeds what is expected of this little cafe. I had an egg and some cottage cheese only because I'm on a restricted diet. However, it was good. The people in my party had BLTs and things of that nature and they looked incredible. All the food is incredible. Here the vibe is excellent. They are only open till 2:00 p.m. they have on-site parking so you don't have to park on the street and the service was excellent. But this year my brother and I made it a point to come, so on a Wednesday around 10:30 am we were seated. Our waitress was Alyshe and she was great. I am from the south so I always have to try Biscuits and Gravy if someone has them. I will say I was not disappointed. The gravy was tasty and the biscuits soft. My brother had the short stack pancakes with bacon and eggs. Huge pancakes. He kept saying "this is too much I can't eat it all", but would then say "it's so good I can't let it go to waste". It's a laid-back, casual spot with lots of cool local photos on display. I also love their mismatched coffee cups -- it adds such a fun and cozy vibe.
