My daughterr and I were very happy to discover Aura Gardens when we were out on a recent "girl's day" on a quiet weekday. The shashuka was so fresh and delicious and the tallow fried bread on the side was so much tastier than the usual toast. We also enjoyed the sweet potato hash and cappachino's very much. The counter ordering with the food being served worked out nicely. We don't get out often but certainly will return whenever possible to try some other items. read more

They're also seed-oil free and make their breads in-house, which is such a nice bonus. I'm a big fan of their tallow biscuit sandwich and shakshuka. Truly so good! This is such a cute spot. I kept seeing this restaurant popping up on Yelp as a popular and recommended place to visit. I even saw reviews from my friends, so I've been meaning to come here. A friend needed to go to the Nordstrom rack across the freeway and asked me to join her. After shopping, we decided to have breakfast and this spot was very close so we opted to try it. When we got there, it was pretty crowded, which is to be expected of any breakfast spot in San Diego, but the wait was short which surprised us. This is one of those places where you order at the counter and find a seat. We found a two top outside and each of us went in and ordered separately. When you walk into the right, there's all kinds of merchandise like aprons and dresses and various little knickknacks. When you head to the counter, there's a pastry display case with some delicious looking pastries. When I got to the counter, there was no line. I just got lucky. I ordered Chilaquiles and a cappuccino. Prices are average for what you would expect around San Diego. I was given my number and I went back to my table to wait. When my friend went up to the counter. There was quite a line. It wasn't long before I got my cappuccino which I needed as I was dragging a little bit. The girl who brought it to me, brought me sugar when I asked where I could get it. It was very nice of her. It was good, a bit strong, but that's not a bad thing. My friend returned to the table and shortly thereafter, my Chilaquiles arrived. It was a huge plate I had asked for the eggs medium, and they were medium. It had a nice kick to it and I was drinking water to quell the heat in my mouth. Though there was staff out, checking on everyone I did have to ask for water refills. Otherwise I enjoyed my meal and couldn't finish it.. My friend enjoyed her meal as well and we both agreed we'd like to come back again soon to try other things. We are OBSESSED with Aura Gardens!! We regularly come here for brunch and the food is always so freaking good and made with whole ingredients. Their kale chicken Caesar salad or lemon ricotta pancakes are our favorite dishes to split, though you seriously can't go wrong with any dish! They have a great crème brûlée French toast, and the sandwich is great as well. If you upgrade to the sweet potato hash, just know that it's actually thin pieces of sweet potato cut into triangles. The portion is pretty small, but it does come with onions and red peppers. The Slammin Salmon Benny was a bit of a letdown. The menu says it includes poached eggs (plural), so I was expecting a more traditional Benny with two eggs. Instead, it's cold salmon (almost canned in texture) served over greens and avocado spread. It comes as one piece, and the bread was overpowering. It was also difficult to cut through, which made it hard to really enjoy the dish. There's also paprika seasoning on it, which was a little unexpected. One thing to keep in mind is that they get very busy on weekends. Sundays in particular can get packed, and there's often a line out the door. I do appreciate that they let you find a seat first and then come back to order, rather than making you stand in line before finding a table. Overall, there are some good options here, especially the crème brûlée French toast and breakfast sandwich, but I'd probably skip the Benny's next time. read more

I appreciate being told in advance, but was also disappointed to learn there'd be a 40 min wait if I ordered food that required prep. In other words, any food aside from pre-baked goods would take forever. We went there for lunch, so that messed things up for us, especially since we have two little kids with short attention spans. This was shortly after noon on a Sunday, so keep that in mind. As a result, we only got drinks and ended up going elsewhere for food. I may have been in a bad mood already after learning I wouldn't be eating there, but I swear the strawberry matcha latte tasted off. I'm not a matcha expert, but I've had my fair share. There seemed to be a bit of hype for this new breakfast/brunch restaurant in Carlsbad. We were very pleasantly surprised and the hype did not disappoint. The restaurant is airy with outdoor seating and very comfortable inside seating. There is even a small corner gift area. The only thing I wasn't a big fan of were the fake hanging leaves/flowers. The host explained that we pick a table and wait in line. It was around 10:30 am and it was busy, but I actually expected it to be worse. The food was unique and delicious. I had the beef tallow breakfast sandwich with the bacon, cheese and scrambled eggs. The biscuit was soft, pillowy and full of flavor. The eggs were thick, plentiful and cooked perfectly. My guest had the avocado toast with sourdough. The avocado was splayed beautifully and fanned out on the thick piece of bread. We split the pumpkin loaf piece with maple cream. It was moist and unique with the maple cream on top. I had ordered the Mexican Mocha, which was a bit spendy at $8 and it was a bit different than I expected, but the manager was quick to send the barista over to me and I decided on a chai latte. What a wonderful little gem! This was our first visit, and we absolutely loved everything about it. The ingredients were incredibly fresh, and you could really taste the quality in every bite. This place was super cute and yummy! I found this place on Yelp on Sunday and had to try based on all the great reviews! When we drove up there was a bunch of people standing outside at 11:30 am. We were worried there would be a long wait, but it must be good because of all the people there. We walked up and found out that you order and then sit down. The crowd of 10 were just waiting for some tables to clear up. My husband and I ordered the Mediterranean omelette with potatoes, wagyu Moco loco and the crème brûlée French toast. We found a table right away. Food took a bit to come but all of the staff was busy trying to take care of all the tables. We eventually got our water and after chatting and people watching, got our food. Everything was so good! The portions were a bit on the smaller side of what we're used to, but it was all very good. My husband loved his Moco loco and the French toast. I too loved the French toast. My omelette was perfect and the feta wasn't too strong. Happy they had Tabasco for my ketchup. The inside was super cute with the plants and pink ambient lighting. I definitely want to come back and try the wrap. My husband loved the Moco loco so much that he made it a couple days later because we had all the stuff to make it. We had espresso, guava mimosa, lavender and vanilla matcha and the Blue Dream which were all delicious. I liked the presentation of the espresso on a little tray. The Blue Dream was refreshing and gets its pretty blue hue from pea flower. For breakfast we had the Mediterranean omelette and replaced the potatoes with sweet potato hash. The omelette was packed with fresh vegetables and sweet potato hash was thinly sliced with onions and red peppers. Scrumptious. The lemon ricotta pancakes were topped with strawberries and served with a raspberry jam and maple syrup. I would have liked them to be more fluffy, but they were tasty and the lemon came through. About 11 minutes from the Westin Carlsbad where we stayed after LEGOLAND. Nice quiet place for breakfast. Good food selection and everything we ordered was tasty. I ordered a hot oat milk honey latte, and he recommended the oat milk with seed oil - he mentioned the chemistry with that particular hot oat milk just makes it work, which I really enjoyed. I also ordered the freshly baked tallow biscuits and the two-egg breakfast plate. My husband ordered the same breakfast plate. Mine came with chicken sausage, and his came with bacon. We both enjoyed our meals. The sourdough and breakfast potatoes were a delight. You must get the housemade raspberry compote with the biscuits. It's a crowd favorite for a reason. We also had a great conversation with Aaron, the other owner of Aura Gardens. He was very kind and checked in on us while bussing tables.
