I stayed in Gilroy on business and placed a delivery order with BBQ152. The online ordering was easy and the meal arrived in @50 minutes. Once I opened the bag, I discovered that there weren't any napkins, forks, knives or salt. When I called the restaurant they said they only included those if requested. What the hell! I'm staying in a hotel where the restaurant is closed. After going downstairs and managing to scare up some supplies, I came back to enjoy my dinner. First, the food was cold. The pulled pork was good and the sauce tangy and appealing. The chicken was tough and couldn't be cut with the plastic ware I had. I ended up not eating it. Beans were pretty good but the potato salad was subpar and the lack of salt didn't help. Lastly the cornbread was rubbery and I stopped after the first bite. With the Covid-19 pandemic going into its 5th month, one would think that restaurants would have their act together but BBQ152 sure didn't. Never again! read more

The beans suck. Mac n cheese is a joke. The cornbread tastes like nothing but flour. The garlic bread shouldn't even be called garlic bread. The brisket was the driest piece of meat I've ever had. The tri-tip was cold. For the price, it was all very disappointing. Maybe it was just an off day since I see a lot of good reviews but to not even have one thing taste decent?! Let me start by saying I'm a really tough reviewer so to get 4 or 5's from me you really have to knock my socks off. Pulled in the empty parking lot and the smell of smoked meat was mouth watering. Very clean and everything looks new since I believe they just opened up a few days ago. I placed my order to-go since I had to get back to work. The gentleman who took my order was very polite and assured me that after I tasted the food I'd be back again for sure. I was hoping he was right because the smell alone had my tummy rumbling. 3 minutes later I had my lunch and was headed back to work. 2 Meat Platter about $10.00. Pulled pork - juicy and tender. LOVED the vinegar ju that came with it. Chicken - very small drumstick but juicy threw and threw Coleslaw - pretty basic. Nice light crunch when paired with the rich pork Garlic Bread - just okay. By the time I got it to the office it was a little cold and limp. Enjoyed the BBQ sauce although the spicy one tasted like the original just packed full of black pepper. When I first looked at m to-go box I felt like there was very little food for the price. To my surprise I was pretty full after it was gone. 1 Star for friendly customer service 1 Star for quick to-go order 1 Star for Juicy meats All in all, the guy at the counter was right. I be back. Gilroy. I know nothing about it. But we needed a place to stop for lunch so hubs found this joint on Yelp. Yelp is always so helpful!!!! The place is clean and when we drove up we smelled the delicious aromas of smoking meat. You can just say that it is hubs heaven spot if he can smell a smoker and get spicy BBQ sauce. We had the pulled pork (I recommend eating it with the reg bbq sauce and the cole slaw which adds a cool tang, good combo), the tri tip sandwich, the smoked chicken. My kids ate up chicken like ravenous thieves so I guess that means they like it. they also shared a grilled cheese. Warning: no real kids menu here. Which is a bummer (minus one star). And NO FRIES. But we didn't need fries so that's ok. Good brews to choose from if you are so inclined. Skip the salads and just go with the MEAT. You won't be disappointed. read more

Sad to report this place is not good anymore. It was a go to bbq spot pre-pandemic. Today, pork ribs and chicken were as dry as can be. The sides-coleslaw, beans, Mac n cheese and potato salad tasted bland. The brisket passed, but lacked the flavor it once had. The meat used to fall off the bone and was moist and tender. The customer service was great, people were friendly and the spot was clean. I ordered the brisket plate with potato salad, beans and cornbread. My husband ordered the tri-tip with slaw, garlic bread and potato salad. My kids got the kids plates; hot dog, ribs & brisket. The beans.. not baked, not chili. The were the blandest bbq beans I've ever had. They were red like chili but not chili bean taste - wish I could describe better, but my main point is don't order them, no one in my family liked them. Cornbread, or should I say bland polenta cake? Because that is what I could have sworn I got. Potato salad was decent, brisket was pretty good, hubby's tri-tip and son's ribs were also good. Meat overall was pretty good but I wish they had a better selection of sauces. My kids were supper disappointed about their garlic bread - it was more of a dry piece of warm bread with a smudge of butter tossed on the grill. Seems to have the exact same menu as Morgan Hill's Trail Dust, but this location is a bit more casual and laidback. There's still televisions, but no waiting service, and you bust your own tables. Prices are also slightly cheaper. The garlic bread is, of course, awesome, but most of the other sides are plain and nothing to get excited about. As for the barbecue, it's the best option you can get in the Gilroy/Morgan Hill area. The spicy barbecue sauce is amazing, make sure to give it a try. The best meats here are honestly the tri tip and ribs. I'd recommend the 2/3 meat combo ($17/$20) a try since you get to pick your meat options, comes with beans, garlic bread, and either coleslaw or potato salad, and it's easily sharable. read more

Sometimes to enjoy their there great beer selection while waiting for a tire repair across the street but the real reason is to enjoy their great bbq and over the top desserts. Came here last Saturday with my pops after I helped him moved. I ordered the two meat plate with tri-tip and brisket but they accidentally gave me ribs instead of brisket but I went with it. The tri-tip was perfectly cooked with a nice dry rub. The ribs were also good, but didn't have a whole lot of meat on them. The garlic bread was good and I enjoyed the spicyness of the beans but they needed a little salt to them. They have a pretty good selection of local craft beers which is always an added plus in my book. Overall a solid spot that I would frequent if I lived in Gilroy. read more
