My partner and I came to this pizza joint because we LOVE PIZZA. As soon as we walked in we were greeted right away by a very nice worker! He let us know where we could find the menu up close, as opposed to the giant one listed above us. My partner and I decided to go with the Cowboy Pizza and the Pesto Pasta. BOTH OF THESE FOOD ITEMS WERE SPLENDED!! Compliments to the chef, seriously. We really wanted to pair our food with lemonade, but they did have any like they listed on the menu. We ended up going with two ciders from "2 TOWNS CIDERHOUSE." My cider was POG Cosmic Crisp but unfortunately it was a little flat and not as enjoyable. My partner got the Mango Cosmic Crisp and he enjoyed his better. I wish they had lemonade, or I wish I would've just stuck to a water cup or a different type of beverage. They have a lot of options for 21+ but they also have a Stubborn Soda Machine with 8 different flavors. There is plenty of seating indoors as well as outdoors! The inside is decorated with lights, plants, and a majority of the seats are a nice brown leather. Overall, it was wonderful. Tried High & Mighty Pizza Joint in Gilroy for the first time, and I've gotta say--this place seriously impressed me. The pizza was phenomenal--perfectly cooked, non-greasy, and you can really taste the quality in both the cheese and the dough. The crust had a great texture, and everything just came together exactly how you'd want it to. The vibe is what really makes this place stand out. It has that classic, old-school family pizza restaurant feel--like something straight out of the '80s. It's a great spot to sit down with family, enjoy a meal, and even grab a beer while you're at it. If I had to nitpick, I do wish their large pizzas were a bit bigger. Prices are about average, but honestly, when the pizza is this good, it's not even a concern. I wouldn't call it New York or New Jersey style--but for what it is, it's really solid. Their normal pizzas are awesome but I cannot get behind their Detroit style pizza. It was salty and burnt. We surmised that it was the pepperoni that made it salty. My family members said it was ok but for me it bordered inedible. Their standard pizzas were great though. Floppy and flavorful. The chicken bbq was unique; would get again. By the way the ranch is 50 cents but it's nice and thick and not watered down. Love that our children were running around and there's plenty of space and no one cares or mildly cared but don't say anything. Would def get their normal pizzas again but will pass on the Detroit pizza. read more

Tried the BBQ Chicken and the 2-Meat BBQ combo pizza (we did a half-and-half) at High and Mighty Pizza Joint in Gilroy. Overall, a really solid spot. The BBQ chicken pizza leaned a bit too sweet for my taste, and they do add cilantro--so if you're not a cilantro fan, keep that in mind. That said, the crust was excellent--crispy, flavorful, and definitely one of the highlights. The 2 meats bbq meat ( briskets & Sausages ) was excellent. loved the bbq taste. You can actually see their half-dome pizza oven from the parking lot, and the BBQ aroma hits you before you even walk in. Smells amazing and sets the tone right away. Also wanted to give a shoutout to Jackson, one of the staff. I honestly thought he was the owner because of how much he cared about the place and the customers. Our group of four came here last night. We bought a few different pizzas, a Caesar salad, and a small ambrosia salad. The pizzas were delicious. The Caesar salad was crisp and had a great dressing on it with what seemed to be homemade croutons. The fact that there was ambrosia salad on the menu was very surprising to me, so I thought I would order it. It was creamy and so flavorful, I'm gonna try to make it at home. The stars were the Caprese Salad with thick cut slices of mozzarella and juicy slices of tomatoes and the perfectly balanced BBQ Chicken Pizza. First, they were SO accommodating! We brought our dog to sit outside, it was full but a wonderful young woman brought us chairs. We ordered the spicy cowboy and a side of chicken for the pooch. This is the newest restaurant in Gilroy and it just happens to be offering my favorite food---PIZZA. I arrived at 11 AM and they had just opened so I was the only person in the place for the first 15-20 minutes. The waitress greeted me and I ordered my old stand by; Pizza Margherita. I wanted to taste a pizza without all the added meats or sauces that were offered that might cloud my taste buds and skew the review. On my first visit to any restaurant one of the first things I do is check out the restrooms; they were spotless. One is so large you could park a car inside and still take care of business. The pizza arrived hot and brimming with cut up tomato chunks instead of the traditional sauce; that was a pleasant surprise. The crust was soft and complaint but cooked through, as it should be. Gooey, tasty mozzarella cheese covered the soft warm dough and fresh basil leaves were added as a garnish on top of it all; just they way it is done in Italy. Yeah, it was good, real good! The only negative for me was my drink order. I like an Arnold Palmer to drink while I eat my pizza. In Italy they would say "mezo e mezo" - half and half; half ice tea and half lemonade. The drink selection was abundant with bottled ice tea as one of the choices but no lemonade to make my drink of choice. High & Mighty's motif is a County/Western theme and on Fridays they have live music. As I was leaving the waitress thanked me, a pleasant surprise compared to many Gilroy restaurants. This is a fun place to eat with a good pizza. I am planning on taking my wife and granddaughter there to try some of their other types of pizzas. I was in town for work and wanted to have a yummy solo meal. I landed on this spot through yelp. The ambiance was nice! It was casual, very open. You go to the front to order, grab a number then have a seat. They bring you the pizza to your table or you're dining in. I opted for a half and half pizza. I believe it was the 3 Cheese with Mushroom and Pepperoni with Pineapple. Got a bottle of root beer to wash it all down. I was sitting down at a table waiting for my food. Felt like forever.. then the sever brought the pizza to my table. He first apologized for the wait, let me know it was a little burnt and since that's not the standard they were already making me a new pizza but that I could have this one any way. What service!? Honestly best customer service I've had in forever. The initiative they took was greatly appreciated and I'll be back! Not to mention, when I finally got my pizza!? It was so goood that I demolished the whole thing. LOL. I boxed up the "burnt" one and took it home with me. We had an amazing time going to this place! Hubby and I were just randomly looking on Yelp and came across this place that we thought looked really cute! The parking was pretty good and spacious as there wasn't too many cars on a Sunday night. We walked in and was greeted with such vibrancy and life. The staff was so sweet and really did make us feel at home (as they said "mi casa is su casa"). We sat down and we didn't wait long at all. The food was also really good, we got the BBQ Chicken with a root beer and it really hit the spot! Kind of reminds me of base camp pizza from Lake Tahoe (if that place is still around). Anyways, we would definitely come back and bring some friends. The atmosphere and location is amazing, and the decor was super cute!
