I frequently crave this place! Their seafood boil is so good. They had a sign posted that they changed ownership so the menu seems the same. They just do a few a little differently I noticed. When I come, I order a pound of shrimp: jellyfish smack, medium, with an addition of sausage. (Corn and potatoes too if I'm feeling really hungry.) I always like ordering a side of rice so that I can pour the sauce on top of it for that extra flavor. The service is good. It normally isn't too busy and they provide you with all the utensils: a bucket to dump ur shells, a bib, gloves, salt, pepper and lime if you need it as well. read more

So glad I finally made it to this place. We were here' on a Wednesday evening and the place had steady stream of guests. Service was quick and pleasant. We were seated right away. The mission of this visit was to try the seafood boil, and boy were we thrilled! The place didn't disappoint, Food was fresh and flavorful. We ordered garlic butter noodles 4 Yam fries 5 flavorful and crispy with a spicy dip. Seafood boil 4.5 good quality and flavors, I felt it was a tad salty, but I won't complain. Unlike the other seafood boil places the food came in a ceramic serving tray. We ordered the house sauce with medium spice with shrimp, king crab and clams.The spice level was perfect and so was the sauce. Very pleased with this service, portions, pricing and the flavors. The clams with the mixed sauce were good but it was full of broken shells and sand. There was not one bite where it did not have bits of shells and/or sand. It's been awhile since the last time we went here before our recent visit. My mom and I were a little disappointed with the quality of food before but luckily we gave this restaurant another chance. To all of the food we ordered this time, we really like the mussels, fried calamari and the honey walnut prawns. We like how they serve their mussels seafood boil. It's less messy compared to other seafood boils that we've been at as they put the mussels on a plate than serving it in a bag. The Honey Walnut Prawns tastes good as it's not too much of the sauce but at the same time it's a good size to enjoy. I just hope that it's crispier next time. The fried calamari tastes good too especially when we dipped it to the white color sauce. For the service, I didn't get his name but he's amazing. I'm so glad I overlooked the mix batch of reviews and decided to try this place. My mom and I were at the Outlets and she was hungry so I went on Yelp to search up food places nearby. After looking at a few food places we decided to head to Jellyfish Seafood Bar for an early dinner. This post is not to complain about the food...we love the seafood boil with jelly smack flavor. HOWEVER, we placed an order that was supposed to have 1lb each of Shrimp, Crawdads with potatoes, corn and sausage. Also an order of extra Corn, and another 1lbs of Snow crab...a Chicken salad, and mango sticky rice. Price was $106, and we gave a $15 tip for a TOGO order. Got home and the shrimp, sausage, and potatoes were missing...So I called up and they said I got what I ordered!!! Basically all we got was 1lb of Crawdads and 1lb of the snow crab & 4corn just expected 1lb of shrimp, sausage and potatoes as well. I am not complaining of the price, I just hate not getting what we thought was included!!! The cowboy burger was one of the best burgers my husband said he has had. We shared the taste of NOLA and it was outstanding. We opted for the jelly fish sauce which is all flavors combined and went with mild for my son. So flavorful it was finger licking good. Service was on point. First time getting the crabby combo! It was great as always, my only complaint is that I wished the dungeoness crab was still intact.. you can tell they had it pre opened & sliced in half already. Rice was served in the side versus in the middle. Also, it was missing sausage or I just did not get any. Service was slow and my food came out 10 minutes earlier than my friend's food so it got even colder. Should have just put it on a warmer. From ordering to getting food it was just slow. The gumbo was good but it being cold killed it. Ambiance was generic...Is it a seafood place or cajun place?!? You can't tell so it ends up looking generic. Crawdads we're tender and juicy, so good! The Snow Crab Legs were just as delicious as the other dishes. The meat was juicy and soft. They provide a bucket for the shells, crackers, scissors, and lots of napkins. This definitely satisfied my seafood craving! Overall, the food was great. The service was good. The meals are pricey. I intended on ordering the king crab legs until I asked for the cost, turned out to be over $70/pound! So a good alternative is the snow crab legs. Helpful tip, ask for pricing! If I can give this place zero stars with the negative I would. We made a reservation ahead of time for a party of 30 for a birthday party. We have a lot of people coming in from out of town when we got there they gave our table to another party, the manager came out. He was very short, very, very rude and not accommodating at all. His words to us were " what do you want me to do? I cannot accommodate you." it is not our fault that your incompetent Staffing did not pay attention to the name and gave our table to another party. Went for the Jellyfish Sauce (all sauces) and it was pretty good seasoning. Not stingy with sausages and corn was very good. Some big crawfish and shrimp was great. Not as garlicky as I hoped. The Cajun Chicken salad was very simple but good seasoning on the chicken. The Fish & Chips was a very good. Fries were good and the fish was really good with gray seasoning! The tartar sauce even had Cajun spices in it. Very good portion on this entree. Environment was great, nice and clean.. and the music was good. Celebrated our 26th Anniversary here. We enjoy Cajun dishes and was excited to have our dinner here. The servers were nice and helpful. But cannot say too much about the food. We ordered: 1) Gumbo. Meh! I cannot taste the distinct flavors of the nutty roux, gumbo files and smoke sausages. Yes, those flavors that make up a good gumbo. 2) Crispy Calamari. The crispy batter was really crispy and flavorful. However, the calamari is very slimy. I'm guessing, the calamari were frozen when dipped in the batter and fried. Although the nuggets were cooked, it's slimy. I can eat it, but wont order it again 3) 1lb Shrimp with Hot JellyFish Smack Sauce. It's not that hot. But, what is up with the sauce. It's so watery that the shrimps were floating rather than blanketed with it. The shrimps were big and fresh though. 4) Chargrilled Oyster. This was really yummy . $18 for 6pieces. Come back here over and over again!!! The food and drinks here were ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! The garlic saute used for all the seafood was out of this world. So good. The gumbo was absolutely delicious and flavorful. And I found my favorite cocktail of all times, "Jelly From The Block". So deliciously fruity but not overly sweet with a chamoy rim. My sister and I came here for lunch at my request. We arrive, there was only one other customer seated in the restaurant. We order our lunch and I also ordered a lemongrass vermicelli bowl with everything on the side as it was for my husband's dinner later tonight. We ordered gumbo and garlic noodles. Both were lacking flavor and a little salt. We asked for salt and cayenne pepper hoping we could doctor them to find a little. Our waitress brought us some paprika with some oregano. It didn't help the gumbo much. We wanted to spice it up (like Cajun food is supposed to be). I also asked for a little more sauce for my gumbo because it was a little dry and was told "they're being really strict on giving stuff out". I wasn't asking for something that I had not originally ordered but ok. I wasn't going to argue. We got ready to pay and the waitress brought out the to go order. I decided to check the order before we left and they had placed the lettuce, cucumbers, bean sprouts, and onions on the noodles. I was unable to locate our waitress so walked up to the girl at the bar who had been on her cell phone and asked for help. She then went and located our waitress. Our waitress took the container to the kitchen and re-appeared five minutes later. She also brought us two containers of what looked like chicken soup because "they had extra". I assumed they had remade the noddles and as I was placing them back in the bag noticed that there was lettuce on the bottom of the noodle container. What they did was pick off the lettuce etc and flipped the noodles over so that it looked like a fresh batch. My sister had an appointment for that she needed to get to otherwise I would have asked them for a fresh batch of noodles. I arrived home (and I should have also checked before leaving the restaurant) but it was lemongrass chicken and not the lemongrass pork that I ordered in the container. We stopped in on another Saturday for some food and drinks. I wanted to try a drink, (can't remember the name), that needed Fernet, which is a type of Amari. Anna said they didn't have it but that she was going to go "next door" to get some. I thought she meant that she was going to go next door to Pineapple Village, (the Thai restaurant that is owned by the same people). I thought maybe Pineapple Village had a bar that had different liquors than Jellyfish. But what Anna meant was that she was going next door to Nob Hill to BUY a bottle of Fernet!!! Every other time I've been to a place that didn't have a certain ingredient necessary for a cocktail I wanted, they've just said, "Sorry we don't have such and such." I've never had one go buy something just so they could make a drink for me. So Anna did just that. Walked over to Nob Hill, bought a bottle of Fernet and came back and made my drink. I had high hopes for this restaurant, as I'm always rooting for new eateries in Gilroy since we lack quality food and options here, but have to say, I'm hugely disappointed. Honestly, I don't think Jellyfish will last. If you enjoy Boiling Crab or Claw Shack in San Jose, let's just say Jellyfish is no comparison. I ordered a pound of clams medium spicy with the smack sauce and it smelled great, almost just like BC, but the greatness ended there. The sauce is just way too sweet and absolutely too peppery (peppercorn peppery, not spicy). I did not taste any lemon nor garlic. The clams were very small and grainy. I also ordered their chicken Alfredo to play it safe, as I know this is a basic pasta, but that failed greatly too. This was a buttery pasta with rubbery chicken. I'm happy to see that Jellyfish has been getting busier and busier these day! I was pleasantly surprised to see that they opened up the wall between themselves and Pineapple Village next door. When my husband and I went to eat dinner, they were full on the Jellyfish side, so they sat us on the Pineapple Village side. I loved being able to order food from both menus. We ordered our shrimp, crawfish, etc. from Jellyfish, and then ordered mango sticky rice from Pineapple Village. We didn't have to pay two separate checks, one for each restaurant, either. I originally wanted to go to Kicking Crab or Boiling Crab but we couldn't since the freeway home to the Central Valley had a lot of traffic due to construction. I saw this place on yelp and decided to try it. We came in around 4:00 pm and it wasn't busy at all. They offered us to choose which table to seat. We ordered strawberry lemonade, Cajun fries, chargrilled oysters, and cajun classic with jellyfish smack sauce. Everything was so good!! I was highly impressed. The strawberry lemonade was perfect, not overly too sweet. The Cajun fries were nice and crispy on the outside but soft inside. Oysters & seafood boil also super good! My husband and I finished everything. The only downside I had is that the wait was a little too long. We even finished the fries and oysters before we got the seafood boil.
