Good food! Service was great. He (I think the owner) was kind and busy. The catfish was so good! Batter was a little thicker than normal but it is cornmeal. Remoulade was good, didn't even miss the tartar. Breading was too thick on the fryer okra imo but I enjoyed a few pieces. Very large serving! Red beans and rice was excellent! I'd go back just for that! Jambalaya was good although it is a bit dry. It's nice to have real catfish and southern adjacent food nearby.

I love New Orleans. Mainly because of the food. It's very rare that I find southern food that can come close to actual NOLA fare. I was so pleasantly surprised that in Gilroy of all places held this hidden gem. I was hungover from a wedding the night before and I was ready to drive home and this place popped up on Yelp. I decided to cure my hangover with some comfort food. Boyyyy was I comfortable. When I arrived the place was pretty empty. There was no inside. But it was early on a Sunday so no biggy. As soon as I took a look at the menu I ordered the catfish, a shrimp po boy, the jambalaya and a couple of drinks. Everything was fantastic. The flavors were there. The texture of the food was profound and the smells brought me back to the streets of NOLA. However service was a little off. After we ordered another couple came in and ordered after us. They brought out my catfish and for some reason they gave the other couple my sandwich. Then tried to give my jambalaya to another person. Not sure what was going on with the person taking orders that day but I didn't really mind. The food made up for it.

I liked the food here- I ordered a fried catfish sandwich which was a good portion for the price. The catfish was nicely fried, crispy and not greasy. The bread was very fluffy and fresh. Overall really good sandwich, but I wish they offered tartar sauce on the side because it started to feel kind of dry after a while. I also ordered an oatmilk ube latte for about $10 which felt overpriced for the drink size. I could have gotten a boba across the street for half the price. However, the drink did taste good. Next time I will be skipping a drink and just getting the food.

So... I'm having such a difficult time reviewing this place! I was so super excited to come here... I am from Mississippi before living in Memphis, TN and have lived in Louisiana several years. Nearly all of my family are from that area. Not only did I grow up on Cajun and Creole food ... my grandfather owned and operated a few successful catfish restaurants prior to his retirement. I had fried catfish and seafood (often freshly caught) constantly. I had my first fresh raw oyster not soon after I could walk. There is no place around here to have true southern food... of any kind, unless I cook it. When I heard that NOLA was opening so close to my house I was super thrilled. I think my first mistake was going in expecting Authenticity. If you are wanting 'true' New Orleans fare ... this is not the place for you. The 'muffuletta' they make are tasty well made sandwiches .... But it wasn't a traditional muffuletta. The 'beignets' are soft fluffy doughnut like squares sparsely covered in powdered sugar and served with some kind of sauce... but they are NOT beignets. Slightly tasty ... sure. Beignets? NO! The 'Gumbo' was a sausage (not andouille) chicken filled soup with watery reddish Cajun seasoning filled broth m. Gumbo has a thick silky broth texture that ranges from a darker peanut-butter color to deep dark chocolate color, according to the type of gumbo you are making (Creole or Cajun) and how dark each cook wants to take their a roux. What they give you here is some sort of soup ... that is NOT Gumbo! I'm really not sure what it was. It wasn't terrible; it just wasn't Gumbo. The Fried catfish were perfectly cooked and not at all oily or greasy ... BUT they were NOT cornmeal dusted southern fried catfish (not at all the fried catfish you would find in New Orleans or anywhere in the south really). And there was no tartar sauce ... which personally I find a travesty when serving catfish! The Salad I ordered was great. fresh ingredients and the shrimp I added were perfectoy cooked and seasoned. I also liked the Miso dressing. Everything I e tried here so far is good, fresh, mostly well seasoned .... But NOLA it is not If it had any other name I'd say this place is great and unreservedly give it 4 stars or more. However, it is unabashedly advertising itself as NOLA food... and quite simply it is absolutely NOT that! Maybe it should be called 'NOLA inspired kitchen' or an approximation. The service was slow but super friendly and they make everything fresh so I feel it's worth the wait. Will I go back ... probably? But, I think it's important to know when going into NOLA that you will have mostly tasty fresh food but you WILL NOT have New Orleans food. I wish I had known this prior to going ... because it was a huge disappointment when I could not feed my homesickness :(.

Bringing NOLA To Gilroy! Can't wait to try the beignets!

Absolutely recommend! Enjoyed a delicious lunch today and am still so wonderfully full from the generous portions. The Mufaletta Panini is definitely shareable but I had to enjoy my own Grilles Shrimp Wrap--with all my favorites including olive salad, Swiss cheese AND hugs grilled shrimp. The garlic fries were outstanding! Service was excellent and very friendly, willing to explain to those unsure of the menu. Area was clean though seating area is limited with one outside table. It was a "date lunch" for us and we made an excellent choice! Don't miss out!

This place has been open for about 3 weeks. The place isn't too big however they do have seating indoor and a table outdoors as well. I've been in the Gilroy area for a few years and this is for first NOLA inspired establishment I've experienced. I have traveled to NOLA and nothing will ever compare to the real deal. I ordered the jambalaya with chicken and shrimp however was not flavorful and lacked spice, I wouldn't order again. The gumbo was also ordered with shrimp I personally liked this more and felt like it was more flavorful. The chocolate beignets were good. The fries and hot wings were good, but I feel like you can't really mess those up. You do have to order at the counter and they bring the food to your table. They were very friendly and helpful. Overall, I'm glad I tried the place however probably would only come back for the beignets.

DELICIOUS!! I did not expect to find an authentic New Orleans spot here in Gilroy. I forgot to include the sweet potato fries but everything was so delicious! The price was sooo reasonable! I would definitely come back. Hubby and kids approved as well!

A cute spot with the best food! Service was fast and friendly. The muffaletta was huge and delicious. Enough to share. The drinks were a surprise. Filipino fusion with New Orleans food is always welcome. Will come back for sure!

    Begnets, yum

Food and service are amazing. Gumbo, jambalaya and catfish with fries. All terrific. Tried the begnets too. Yummy!!!!

    Catfish and Beignets. Yummy

Prices are fair and food is good. Portions are ok, for the price . I wouldn't pay more . Nice to have the beignets fresh to order ! I have had Catfish and it was good, but not New Orleans style with the corn meal crust. I had the shrimp wrap, good for lunch. The Jambalaya was also good .

    Mufalata

The service is always welcoming me back like a friend and the quality and quality of food! Yummy you yum!!!! Dreaming of this sandwich!!!

    Original Beignets

My husband and I each had the fried shrimp po boys and we got our son the fried chicken po boy. The shrimp are bigger than I've had on other po boys and there was a generous portion of shrimp on each one. The sandwiches are on super soft fresh bread and are absolutely huge. The chicken sandwich was loaded with chicken and also really big so I had to remove a little chicken for my 5 year old because there was just so much! Daddy and I got to try it and it was super flavorful and juicy! I got a Ube Latte which was simply incredible. My husband got a cup of the gumbo and it was so flavorful we wish we had gotten the bowl instead of the cup lol! We also got a side of the fried okra and the original beignets to finish it all off. As far as the beignets, they have several but we wanted to be sure the original was on point before we started branching out. Spoiler alert: These are legit and more the size you would find at Cafe Du Monde than other places I've tried! I wish I had taken more pictures but the fact is we were hungry and just devoured most of it before I could get too many pics Try this place if you're in the area! I live about an hour away and can already see myself making a trip back for shopping at the outlets and lunch here. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and met our high expectations. My husband grew up in Louisiana so he's hard to please with this type of cuisine but was thoroughly impressed with what we tried here and can't wait to come back. There's nothing like this where we live so it looks like we will be finding reasons to come back to Gilroy for lunch

We've been to New Orleans and had the pleasure of trying some of the best southern cooking. NOLA brings New Orleans to Gilroy. We ordered two different po boys, fries, two types of beignets and the iced coffee and it was delicious! I can't wait to go back and try more!

I chose cornbread, baked beans, and coleslaw. The burnt ends are by far my favorite! They were so flavorful and absolutely the most perfect texture. Not too much fat, but so much flavor! The ribs were also delicious. They weren't "fall off the bone", but not everyone likes that anyways. I thought they were amazing! The baked beans were fine, I was expecting them to be sweeter but now I know. Next time I'll get the potato salad. I got to try it and it was delicious and unique. The coleslaw was good and fresh, perfect crunch. It was a nice contrast in flavor with all the meat and barbecue sauce. The cornbread is not the sweet kind. Which is nice because you can put your own butter and honey on it to your liking. They have an awesome selection of beers in the fridge and some on tap as well. I will definitely be coming again, and soon!

With my family and I being in need of lunch, I wanted to give BWW another try... Let me start off my confirming that the reviews at this particular BWW isn't great. Hell, I think its safer to say they are terrible. I was a little weary of dining in but I didn't want to miss out on an opportunity for their mango habanero. Our party of 4 walked in and was immediately greeted and seated. The bar had maybe 2 patrons and 2 other booths were being occupied. Slow for what would typically be a lunch rush but it is what it is. Lunch consisted of: *BOTTOMLESS APPS [CLASSIC: mozz sticks, onion rings, fried pickles, hatch queso, + chips & salsa] *15ct BONE IN WINGS [medium, mango habanero, honey garlic] *3pc CRISPY CHICKEN DIPPERS, served with fries *KING'S HAWAIIAN CHEESEBURGER SLIDERS [golden fire sauce on the side] Food was good. The bottomless apps weren't as beneficial for our party since the fried options got tiresome quite quickly. BUT!! We did make sure to sample a little bit of everything- hatch queso being one of the faves and the disappointment lies with the clearly canned salsa that was offered. The wings were delicious and yes!!! The mango habanera was just as amazing as i had remembered!!! The chicken tenders were a bit dry but the tasty fries kind of made up for that. I highly recommend the King's Hawaiian cheeseburger sliders- the buns were so soft and fluffy, the burger was flavorful, and this is the perfect choice for anyone dining with children. With all that said, kudos absolutely goes out to Natalia!!! You are the primary reason as to why this visit/meal was so enjoyed. Thank you for being patient, kind, hardworking, and so personable. Each and every request was met and your level of A1 customer service was so refreshing. Girl, you undoubtedly deserve a raise!! Yes, there is a wait to place and receive orders. Yes, the server takes a bit of time to make their rounds but that is expected since they are juggling quite a bit. Come here ready to be patient and be floored by the friendliness - a fair trade off if you ask me. 5/5 stars. I'd come back again and you already know mango habanero is gonna be on my order!

Unfortunately I was not able to see the upstairs dining area. We ordered a Chicken Cordon Bleu with a Caesar salad and baked potato, Scallops and Prawns with a house salad and coleslaw, crème brûlée, and a couple of happy hour drinks of local IPA and house Chardonnay. Everything was delicious. My Chicken Cordon Bleu was flavorful and the combination of the cream sauce, cheese, ham, and chicken all went well together. The wifey said her Scallops and Prawns was scrumptious and the tropical salsa was a delightful complement. Her only gripe was that the portions did not match the price point of the dish. The crème brûlée was delectable and the perfect dessert to complement a wonderful 3 course meal. Overall we enjoyed our experience at Old City Hall Restaurant. The barbecue meat was extremely tough--so hard that it genuinely felt like it could damage my teeth. It was nearly inedible. More concerning was the hygiene issue. I clearly saw the server's finger touching the food while carrying the plate. Basic food handling should ensure that hands do not come into contact with what is being served. When I requested a to-go box, I was initially given a container that was far too small for the amount of leftover food, without any explanation. Only after I spoke up were additional containers brought, which felt careless and dismissive. Out of consideration for the cooks and other customers, we chose not to escalate the situation and simply took the food to go. However, having lived in the U.S. for many years, this was a rare and deeply unpleasant experience--one that felt not just poorly handled, but genuinely insulting and unacceptable. Despite everything, we did not leave without tipping. We still left a 10% tip out of basic courtesy. I worked as a waitress myself when I first came to the U.S., so I understand how demanding service work can be, and we are usually very generous with tips.
