I was hoping to find a high quality panaderia near Watsonville and have dried a few. Most have been disappointing. Recently, friends from Gilroy were visiting and brought us some pan dulce from Negrete. Wow. Everything we tried was so fresh and yummy. My favorite bakery to get pan dulce, breakfast burritos early and fresh in the morning, and yummy coffee t other drinks. I can easily call the day before or sometimes morning of to order 64 concha's for my students, they are always so something and c the concha's are soft and fresh. The best in Gilroy! Im sorry to do this but I found a hair in my bread, specifically the puerquito pan. This is not ok and totally lost the trust I had for this panaderia. I brought this bread for a bake sale at work and I really wish no body had any hairs in theirs too. Also, not sure who the new staff members are, but their service is horrible. Inpatient, poor etiquette, and just need proper training if you ask me. One last thing please control the flies inside the shop! I'm really sad because this was my go to panaderia in town. Hope they make some improvements soon, until then they lost me as a customer. read more

After our favorite concha place in Watsonville closed down my wife and I were left with an empty hole in our hearts... and our stomachs lol. That was until I was recommended this place by a fellow yelper. (THANK YOU SO MUCH) This place is the real deal. I came at 10:45 and they open at 4am. There's no way the concha's should still be this soft. I can only imagine how amazing they are right after they open fresh baked with all their delicious goodness. I purchased 1 just to try it out and after I devoured it and ran back in and my wife sent me with a mission to stuff a whole bag to bring home. Needless to say, mission accomplished. They are very nice and the prices are fair. I paid $14 for a big brown bag full of delicious goodness. I didn't try any of the food they were cooking up but I'll definitely be back to find out. The store is located in a small parking lot so it's very easy to miss but you won't want to fly by this place. Stop by if you're a fellow concha aficionado! read more

Negrete's is my neighborhood bakery. I shop here often. Great assortment of Mexican pastries, empanadas, pan de huevo, tres leches, etc. Prices are reasonable. Usually lots of ample parking available out front. All my experiences with Negrete's have been positive. read more

The have really good bread but DO NOT order a cake from them. I placed my order two weeks before the event, paid in full a week ahead. I received a message they had ordered a cake topper for the cake it all sounded like things were going perfectly fine then the Saturday came to get the cake and wouldn't you know that the order was never placed! We had to just get what ever cake was in the cases all were tires leches, I hate wet cake. It doesn't seem like a big deal but the event was my sons 1st birthday. Parent will understand this is a Huge moment for us as a family. We planned this event for months for them to fail on a pretty important piece of the event. They did send us with 4 cakes and gave us a small refund as a peace offering but when I called to talk about what happened and to see if maybe next time we could work together, the lady kept cutting me off and was more interested in proving her point. "We'll they didn't put in the order so that's what happen" get over it type of tone. Needless to say I won't be going back. read more

We called yesterday to order the small Bolillos for a party. The girl that answered could not speak any English. My husband called back and placed an order in Spanish. He told her we were coming from Campbell. He asked her name so we could reference when we came to pick up. She refused to give her name. Today we drove from Campbell to Gilroy to pick up our order. The girl could not locate our order. Saying she couldn't find it and no one told her about it. She did have the ticket with our order written on it. She called someone and then came back to the counter to tell us our order had been sold to someone. This is not good customer service!!! I'm surprised this Panaderia doesn't have many reviews, given they've been opened for years now. I stopped by on Father's Day Sunday, since all other bakeries were closed and I tried all sorts of their pan dulces! Conchas are my favorite and I was happy to see that they had trays and trays of fresh conchas! Tbh, the conchas here were the BEST I've ever had! The texture was very soft and fluffy, bread-like. Most conchas I've had elsewhere must be old because they're always so crumby and dried out. I would've given 5 stars, but the lady jipped me. I bought 8 items and she charged me for 9 items. This could purely be an honest mistake and I hope it was, because I'm willing to give them another try and actually check my tab before leaving. read more

This place is AMAZING!!! Maria & her family are wonderful. Haven't met her husband yet, but I also haven't gone in as early as 4AM when he's doing the baking! It reminds me of a great hometown bakery from back East which are sparse out West. The variety is excellent and the prices are definitely from a different era!! What a find!!! I'd travel 30 minutes for this any day! I did it when someone told me that there was a "bakery" in Pescadero which when we arrived it had very little baked goods though they did have some out-of-this-world artichoke bread. Made an order about 2 weeks ago ahead of time and even paid it off. When I come to pick up the order, they inform me that someone else already picked it up. When I never sent anyone nor receive any call from the workers that someone else was picking it up for me. The workers were rude, racist and harassing me that if I didn't get another order they already had made for someone else that they wouldn't return my money back regardless. They rudely took my copies of the orders both the receipt from the order and the receipt of my payment. When asked to give it back they told me they intentionally through it away in the garbage and wouldn't let me retrieve it. When asked to speak to manger they told me to come back 2 days and maybe they would give me my money back and see what stranger they gave my order for free. It's been 2 weeks, I have not received a call nor a refund for my money. It's unfortunate that it's Latinos running a small business scamming other Latinos. I can't imagine to how many other people they've done this too and took advantage that they didn't speak up. read more

They have amazing pan dulce, highly recommended it. My only critique is that lately there is a teenage girl that to works there and needs to have more patience. Every time I buy the bread and as I'm thinking of which one to select next, she instantly begins tapping her nails or the tongs on the pan... very rude. I hate the feeling of being rushed or like it annoys her to service the customers. It's so bad that I had to tell her something by the third time I came in... Prices ranged from 85 cents to about $2 for each pastry which is amazing. I grabbed about 16 items. I asked for a box( i had to pay for) instead of the free paper bags. My favorites so far are the slice of orange bread with white frosting and the raisin cinnamon bun. The chocolate bun was good too. Got a mango milk shake with a protein boost, was okay. I would love to come again to pick up my favorites whenever I'm coming through. read more

Went today at 9:10 and as soon as we pulled up to the store an employee peered out and saw us, then shortly after her and another employee walked out and locked up. Amazing customer service and super delicious bread! Was in the area and stopped by. When I didn't see my favorite bread, I asked the young lady working the register. She said they were out but could make me a fresh batch if I could wait five minutes or so. Surprised that they were willing to make a fresh batch for me I agreed to wait. In less than 10 minutes she came out with a fresh batch and of course I purchased 5 rolls. Will definitely be stopping by more often to satisfy my cravings! Very good bread conchas are a staple in our house. We always are in the hunt for the best ones. The best part is the all the bread taste different or what it's supposed to taste like. The young lady who helped us was rushing us to get out when there was no one there and they closed at 10pm. She took our order and threw our bread and pastries together. I had been coming here for bread and the bread is good. today I called very early in the morning to order a cake for my daughters birthday, picking up at 5:30.
