Yummy. I ordered a sandwich at the counter around 11:15. Got the club with a different aioli. Not a fan of chipotle aioli. Also got a raspberry iced tea and cookie. Sandwich came with a bag of chips. Chips and tea did not last long. I ended up eating the sandwich over 24 hours later and WOW. Nothing soggy. Everything still fresh as can be. So yummy. read more

I had high hopes and really wanted to love this place since Gilroy is small and doesn't have many places. I visited on a weekend and the outdoor floor sign highlighting breakfast caught my eye. When I entered in it wasn't too busy one other family was seated. The staff was not very friendly it kind of seemed like I was bothering them I stood there for a while until one of the ladies asked to take my order. I tried to order breakfast and they told me they aren't serving breakfast so I just opted to try the lunch options. I got the Egg and avocado Tartine and ice coffee the food wasn't appetizing The coffee was "ok" I would revisit to try the breakfast read more

Friendly staff and very accommodating for food allergies, warm atmosphere and welcoming staff 100/10 would recommend

This place used to be so good. I tried it again today. The current staff are either very rude or very apathetic. I ordered and got a complimentary glass of water, which I accidentally spilled and then I told the women who worked there, who made a huge deal about it saying "where the hell are my signs" and kept saying she had to "fix this problem". She told the other worker she had to "clean up this problem because if the lady comes out of the bathroom and slips then we are in big trouble". Not once did she acknowledge me and the fact that I was very apologetic for spilling a glass of water. So I had to listen to her talking to herself saying very loudly and irritated "I have to fix this problem" while I'm trying to enjoy my $12 vegetarian sandwich. Then as I'm finishing up the gentleman in front of me who had left, came back and said he spilled his entire iced tea when he left the restaurant and the workers were SO NICE to him, gave him another cup, as she is STILL talking about how she had to "fix this problem". Never again read more

So I support this place bc it's a small business in my community- but today i admit I was frustrated with the service. I typically order the croissant with bacon and cheese with avocado bc I don't eat eggs. And typically they allow the substitution no problem. However today they tell me we are out of croissants- and offer to put my sandwich in bread. No major problem, I'm flexible but then you go ahead and up charge me for the avocado- even when you didn't have supples to fulfill your own menu. It seems like some flexibility on the cafes part was needed. All in all the sandwich was blah- with sourdough. Hoping for more consideration for your customers because if we stop here it's because we care. read more

Got here at 8:05 been sitting here for 10 minutes waiting for this place to open that says 8:00am. The worker/opener get their at 8:15 and to top it off, is very rude for being there so early. Never going here again. read more

Very mediocre cafe in Downtown Gilroy. I was excited to give this place a try since it's a small local business with a nice location, but I wasn't impressed in the slightest. I'll start off with the good: pretty clean and nice space + decent service. I had a breakfast sandwich, yogurt parfait, and a latte. Both food and coffee were totally adequate, but I absolutely could've made each of those items better at home and saved some $$$. I might've eaten better breakfasts at hotels if I'm being honest. All in all, food is pretty underwhelming considering the price. Hope they can turn things around so I could possibly give them another try. read more

If you want to stand there and be ignored while Two women gossip and act like they couldn't be bothered, by all means enjoy. The owner needs to know the staff he pays are so rude AND can't seem to get an order right. If New staff came in and actually acted like they were wanting the business to succeed.. I would go back. read more

Lots of potential and disappointment. Woefully understaffed. Mgr sent workers home early. Our meals were late, missing items, and lackluster. The pastrami sandwich was bread, cheese and meat. No sauerkraut or coleslaw. Something resembling a vegetable was needed on the sandwich. The truffle egg salad was missing the truffle. And the salad. Just mayo and egg, with no attempt at seasoning or adding a crunch or color, like celery or apple. The management needs to learn customer service. The 1.5 workers were pleasant yet woefully insufficient. And when they so thoroughly mess up orders, they need to compensate with more than words of apology. read more

First time here, did an online order to pick up for work. I got the pastrami sandwich, now I realize I got it to go so that affects the freshness but I feel like I paid $14 for something I could slap together at home. Nothing memorable about it. I ordered the macaroni salad, they gave me the potato salad (I wouldn't even call it a side, it was more of a sample) , took one bite and it had that carbonated zingy feel that something has when it's fermented. No more of that. Raspberry tea was light and refreshing. Ordered a chocolate chip cookie, got a raisin cookie with no chocolate. Pretty disappointed, probably a one and done for me for this place. read more

HORRIBLE! I went in on a Thursday morning and there wasn't a single customer aside from myself. The two employees working at the time didn't acknowledge me, so I said hi. I stood there for a minute or two before the first employee finally asked what she could get for me. I ordered a latte, a hot chocolate and a chocolate croissant. At this time another customer walked in behind me. She must have been a regular because they greeted her in a friendly and welcoming manner. They also had her food ready for her upon arrival. The first employee took my debit card and put it in the card reader and then went off to make the drinks leaving my card in the card reader. The second employee went to take payment for the customer behind me and realized I still hadn't been given back my card at which time she handed it to me and apologized. My son and I went and sat down to wait. The first employee brought out the hot chocolate and the croissant. 1.) The hot chocolate way too hot for a child to drink 2.) it was over priced. I paid $4.19 for a 6 oz hot chocolate. Then 11 minutes later the first employee brought over my latte. I don't understand how it took her 11 minutes to make a latte. I used to be a barista and I can make a latte in 30 seconds. In addition to waiting far too long it tasted bad. At this point I just wanted to get out of there. My son and I agreed the staff wasn't very friendly and we felt unappreciated like it was an inconvenience for the staff to help us. They obviously had prep work to do and it felt like that was more of a priority to them. Bottom line: the staff is unfriendly, the food is mediocre and overpriced. Save your time and money and go elsewhere. read more

Paid with card. Cafe 152 is located on a corner and offers street parking. They are Covid ready with employees wearing masks and masks required from customers. I went in on a weekday morning and only one other customer was there, but I didn't need to wait to be helped. This was the second time I visited and I'm glad they got rid of the rude girl that was there before. This time around a nice guy helped me. I ordered the blueberry muffin, blueberry scone, dirty Chai, and regular coffee. I thought it was funny but while I was waiting for my drinks someone brought in Peet's Coffee for the workers. Overall my experience was ok. Nice customer service but the pastries were dry and seemed old and the drinks weren't anything to brag about. Maybe that's why the employees got Peet's delivered. Lol. read more

Cute, small establishment in downtown gilroy. While my love for Cafe 152 started off good it quickly went down hill due to rude staff, inconsistent food and rising prices making me feel cheated. I'll stick to an unamed chain in town where the deli meat is sliced as my sandwich is being prepared and where I'm always greeted and treated like my patronage matters. read more

I was attracted to this place for the "Bread Company" sign, thinking they made their own bread. Nope, not the case, store bought bread, disappointing! I ordered a turkey sanwich and a ceasar salad, both were decent. Service was very slow, considering there was only one other customer in the store. I love to support our local businesses but this one needs to step it up a notch for me to go back. Great potential though! read more

Very poor quality and service. The food made by 2 girls was sloppy and old. It tasted horrible with absolutely no care for ingredients or its customers. I believe they wanted to close and leave so they tried to purposely make our food with not all of the ingredients as to leave early. When I asked for some condiments to complete the sandwich I received attitude. One of the workers had a ride waiting for her in the store where she made it obvious as she called him in front of us as she shut off the lights and music. Then proceeded to explain loudly that she was going to need more time. Extremely rude unprofessional and very poor quality food. Highly recommend NEVER GOING HERE!! read more

I've never spent so much for a deli lunch, as good as most of it was. My husband got the combo which added a small bag of chips and a soufflé cup (less than 1/4 cup) of potato salad...at an extra price of $4! The potato salad had turned or was just bad, he didn't eat it. Sandwich bread was fluffy but stood up to the meats and spreads. The chocolate chip cookie was, as advertised, the best chocolate chip cookie in Gilroy. Still, $42 is a lot to pay (before tip) for 2 sandwiches, 2 iced teas, a cookie and a personal sized bag of chips and minuscule serving of questionable potato salad. read more

I was told by 3 people that this place isn't very good. But I figured I would try and give it a shot anyways. I ordered the "truffle egg" sandwich, Chocolate chip cookie and the biscuit. Sooooo, I wasn't told that the cookie has nuts in it and doesn't say walnut on the receipt either. If I would have known I wouldn't have ordered. Luckily I took a bit before giving to my daughter, could have been bad. If you like kfc biscuits that are very dry you might like their biscuits. I prefer Popeyes biscuits 100%. The sandwich was just ok, nothing great and not very much egg at all. There was about 3-4Tbls of egg total and didnt even cover the whole sandwich. You dont get your money worth here at all. Sandwich with some avocado was about $13, WALNUT choc chip cookie was $3.49 (Just go to Tristans, his are bigger/better and $2), biscuit was $2.79. It took about 15 minutes to get my sandwich and there was no one else waiting for an order. read more

Food tastes fine but portions and cost is not worth it. The combo is nearly $20 for 1/2 sandwich with either soups or salad. That's a rip off. They rarely include the chips advertised in the combo too. read more

Great bakery and sandwiches! A real asset to our little foodie town. Friendly too! Try the roast beef!

I love their tomato bisque! It is so delicious & it just hits the spot. Get the combo & pair it with their grilled cheese--super gooey and crunchy. This was the first place I've ever tried a tomato soup & to this day remains the best! I also enjoy their egg truffle sandwich & their chop chop salad. I work nearby and whenever I forget my lunch or don't wanna bring my own, I usually go here. It does get packed during lunch time & peak hours. I recommend to ordering online and pick up at the time given. This way you don't have to wait long. Super nice service as well! Oh yeah...their homemade chips are bomb too :) read more

Well now, here is a delightful little cafe! I had the good fortune to have been invited to The Bread Cafe to hear a Ukelele Christmas concert. It was such a delight to find that the place served outstanding food. A real treat. I enthusiastically recommend the house specialty which is sliced french bread toasted, spread with mascarpone and topped with a variety of fresh fruit. It is just out of the world! Looking around the room, everyone appeared to be quite happy with their choices. Even though the owner was present, I found the service to be painfully slow. I wanted to make a purchase after we ate, but the order line was just not moving so I had to forgo the purchase. I was disappointed about that. Bread Caffe is easy to find, across from the post office. Parking is on the street and we had no problem. The place is clean as is the restroom. read more

Rating for a to go order of their Cafe 152 Club sandwich on wheat. Needed to pickup a sandwich on our road trip, and their Cafe 152 Club was exactly what I needed. It is a club sandwich with two slices of bread (not three), which I appreciated as I find a third slice of bread takes away from the flavors inside. All of the ingredients tasted very fresh and of high quality, and the flavors blended perfectly together. If you're looking for a sandwich on the go, I'd definitely recommend this place. If you want to dine in, they had some tables in a very casual coffee-shop style environment....but I didn't pay much attention to the environment; I just got my sandwich and headed on out. read more

The bakery items were great, especially the blueberry muffin, which staff recommended. The streusel crumble topping was crunchy and buttery, and the cinnamon in the apple bar was perfect. The coffee was decent, but my eggs benedict were not... the poached egg was cooked all the through and didn't have that creamy yolk you expect. There was soggy bacon and really salty turkey in place of ham, and the hollandaise sauce wasn't as smooth as I'd prefer. Overall I will definitely come back again, enjoyed chatting with the staff and the location was bright and right off Monterey Street downtown and easy to find. Customer service and baked goods were four to five stars, but the warm breakfast was subpar. read more

Local bread company that makes sandwiches. They als have a variety of other goodies to...almond crisps, pumpkin loaves, granola, etc. I decided to order the Cafe 152 Club with turkey, bacon, lettuce, swiss cheese and chipotle aioli on a specialty sour dough bread. As a side, I chose a sesame pasta that included mushrooms. I didn't care for the sauce. The sandwich came with handmade chips, which tasted a bit over cooked for me. They offer a great variety. I really wanted to love this place. I've ordered lunch from here twice. It has a great selection of salads and sandwiches. The first time my fruit cup came with moldy fruit. Literally inedible. The second time my salad was visibly dirty. They clearly did not wash their leafy greens. I could feel the dirt in my teeth as I ate. This place has a good menu but clearly quality and cleanliness is not a priority. Would not recommend. read more

We came through town looking for a quick and healthy breakfast and were intrigued by the breakfast bowl options on their menu. They weren't necessarily bad...they just weren't all that good. The layout is good for the size. I originally came in for waffles, but they only serve it on the weekends. I asked what else was good, and the cashier let me know the chicken sandwich was popular with customers, so I went with that. The sandwich itself was pretty good, and the pickle on the side was also very yummy. I ordered a chai latte, but the cashier forgot I ordered that drink. I went up to ask for water with my coffee, but she didn't get the hint and directed me to a water container for customers to serve themselves. I reminded her that I had ordered a drink, and she made it right away. I did not ask for almond milk, which is fine with me that she substituted the regular for almond. When she brought me my drink, she said something like, "You wanted almond milk with that, right?" I told her it didn't matter, and accepted the drink. I feel like maybe it would have tasted better with the regular milk, but I wouldn't know unless I try it. The chai had a nice kick to it, but I feel some people might not be up for such strong flavors. Cafe 152 is a good spot for groups. I heard Tom Jones playing in the background, and a lot of the people were a little older. So maybe you can try this place with your parents or grandparents, or a small study group. My table was really wobbly, so be careful with your drinks! I have mixed feelings about my last visit, and want to go back on the weekend for some waffles. The picture looks good, and is the reason I went here in the first place. read more

Today my wife and tried a new place to have lunch. We ordered two sandwiches, one hot pastrami and one grilled chicken sandwich. The sandwiches came with a bag of chips and we added two cookies. The total cane to over $30. When we got home we found the pastrami sandwich was made with very little meat, I mean almost no meat. The grilled chicken sandwich was missing the avocado I requested and paid for and the chicken was just a sliver. This was disappointing to say the least, especially having to pay so much for so little. I know most places will scale the meat to a certain weight but come on now! read more
