Came here with a friend on a Sunday early evening after hiking in Henry Coe. I ordered the tri tip sandwich with beans as a side and my friend got burnt ends with Mac and cheese and potato salad. Our food came out quickly. There were plenty of tables for indoor or outdoor seating. I'm glad that my sandwich didn't come with BBQ sauce on it and I was able to add it myself. Not very thrilled with the most recent order. I guess if you get a takeout order you better tip or they're gonna give you a skimpy order. I ordered a rack of ribs. It's $39 and a rack of rib should be 10 to 13 ribs. There was 10 ribs in the order, but they were all really skinny and not a lot of meat on them and several were really dried out like they've been sitting there all day. I gotta order before where they were fat meaty ribs when I ordered in, and I did tip because I was being served. Also, they don't take phone orders anymore so you can't actually talk to a person. I placed a catering order for my son's birthday after normally using taco guys. I wanted something different. Ordering was super easy. I did the ordering online and they had several different package options and ways to customize your order. The packages also listed approximately how many people that specific package would feed which was very helpful and pretty accurate i would say. I must have deja vu because this place looks exactly like Aptos BBQ, Salinas BBQ & Canyons BBQ in Castro valley. The food and menus are identical! If that's the case then that makes for a bunch of solid bbq spots to stop in at in multiple locations! The tri tip is always tender with a nice smoke taste, the Mac and cheese is creamy and gooey and the beans are always full of meat! The spicy bbq sauce has a nice kick and isn't overly sweet and pair amazingly with the beans. The corn bread has a nice subtle crunch to it and isn't dry at all. A few pieces had a lot of fat to cut away but the majority was not fatty. The baked potatoes were easily the largest ones I've ever seen! We ended up cutting them in quarters they were so big. Garlic bread was soft with a smoky flavor and was very good. Cole slaw was good, beans were spicy but everyone loved them. I would definitely order from them again. Very disappointed with my experience at Trail Dust. The food here is honestly phenomenal, which makes this even more disappointing. After working a 16-hour shift, I treated myself to brisket meal my absolute favorite on Friday 2/6 evening and made one simple request when I called in: please don't wrap it in foil. That's just my personal preference. When I picked up my order, a young male teenager maybe early 20's employee mocked me, called me a "conspiracy theorist," and then sarcastically asked if I use fluoride in my toothpaste. I'm not sure what that had to do with my food request, but it felt unnecessary and disrespectful. I'm a local small business owner in Morgan Hill and always try to support other small businesses. It's extremely difficult to find good quality workers these days. I don't blame the owner, however, customers shouldn't be mocked for simple requests. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The manager personally reached out to me and sincerely apologized for the experience. I feel like I owe this place an updated review since it's been over 10 yrs since I first reviewed it. The food has improved quite a bit. I remember my first experience wasn't the best but now we do frequent this place whenever we're feeling some BBQ. It's a local favorite among smoked meat joints and I'd have to say I think their BBQ sauce is now my favorite! It has a nice smoky flavor and their spicy has a nice kick without being overpowering. During Covid we ordered from this place quite a bit and now that Covid is a thing of the past, we actually dined in! The ratio of men-women is still unbalanced but that's every BBQ place. Everything about this place is a 5 star. The service, food, and environment were awesome. I chuckled walking in because it had a sign saying "If you have a reservation, you're in the wrong place." Also, two sides, mac and cheese and coleslaw. We got cornbread and garlic bread. I was told the brisket gets sold out daily. All the sides were good and I liked it all equally. Mac and cheese isn't cheesy but enough cheese, the coleslaw had a apple cider vinegar taste (maybe it's just me) that I enjoyed, and the potato salad tasted like a perfect bbq potato salad. Food is always great! Their catering is the absolute best. Ordering for pickup is quick and convenient. You get a text when it's ready. Their service is great. I screwed up one day and called in an order to Trail Dust when I meant to order at BBQ 152 (their Gilroy location). I only realized my mistake when I tried to pick it up. They were so kind and allowed me to cancel the order and place it at my intended location. So appreciated. It was entirely my error but they saved me a bunch of time (or money) to fix it. But I can only speak on those two meats as i didn't try the others. As for sides, I think I only liked the corn bread and the potato salad. The corn bread was moist and fluffy, the butter was good on top of it as well. Their side spicy bbq sauce wasnt very spicy. For the bread pudding, it was decent.
