We recently used Trail Dust BBQ to cater our office happy hour, and it was an absolute hit! The food was delicious, and I got tons of great feedback from the whole team--everyone agreed it made for our best happy hour yet. Everything was cooked to perfection. The meat was incredibly fresh, the ribs and brisket were an easy 10/10, and the chicken was perfectly moist. If you ever need a great catering service, Trail Dust BBQ is reliable and will instantly elevate your office events. We will definitely be ordering from them again! read more

Update as promised; Well, sorry to report it was not as good as the first time. IT WAS BETTER! +1 star. From order to delivery in under 25 minutes. Got the ribs again, and a half chicken (they call it half a bird which I think is just weird). Both were tasty, both were moist and not undercooked. So, me new go to when I'm in Morgan Hill. Tried it with Uber eats. RIbs ready and arrived fast. Decent ribs all about the same size, which is always a good thing. Will use again in the near future and update. read more

Omg I finally found a good BBQ spot in the bay. After Austin a few years ago, I've been craving Texas BBQ. Nothing nearby has anything close. Finding this spot is so amazing. This is a typical bbq spot where you order from the counter and find your own seating. Sauce bar and utensils are also self serve. Spicy was actually spicy. The meat themselves were so juicy and tender. The rack of ribs were the best and most tender ribs I've tried. Even though this is mostly self serve, the servers were really friendly. They even helped us clean up after we were done eating read more

There really isn't enough bbq in the San Jose area and we went down to Morgan Hill to visit friends and were pleasantly surprised by this place! I've been craving Texas style bbq for sooo long, but haven't found the right spot. This isn't exactly that, but it's the closest I can get! Brisket was moist and fatty. Burnt ends were good. The ribs were fall off the bone. The sides were pretty good too, but I wish they gave bigger servings. The garlic bread could have used more garlic and the jalapeño cheese sausage was promising, but a little dry. I liked that they served their platters with pickled onions, pickles and peppers. They also had a self serve bbq sauce - regular and spicy! You order at the counter and then buzz you when the food is ready. There's also a fountain soda machine. There's a lot of tables both inside and outside! read more

Used yelp to find this place doesn't disappoint. The little spot hard to find parking free parking next door in the structure. Bbq chicken they use a rub the smoke is not to strong flavor a bbq flavor not overdone you can taste the chicken and it was tender. Tri-tip. Yummy seasons just right again the smoke is not over powering or salty tender more like a light medium pink with no blood the flavor is just right you can still taste the flavor of the meat. Bbq beans must try potato salad was in the sweet side with a touch of bbq sauce different flavor all together. Corn bread or garlic toast both equally tasty. Seating inside and out order your food then have a seat. Service was very helpful and patient for the first timers giving some great suggestions but of course I am sure all the food is delicious. Don't forget to take a walk after your meal cute little town read more

I wanted to try a new barbeque restaurant, so we came here. It became apparent that this place has the same menu as restaurants we have gone to in San Jose and Mountain View; maybe thay have a common owner, although the restaurants all have different names. You order at the counter and they bring you the food. And the food is pretty good. Meals come with your choice of garlic bread or cornbread and include a bit of garnish and an Andes candy. I had the tri tip meal with beans and coleslaw. My husband had the chicken with potato salad and beans. They have 2 price choices for regular or large meal portions, and we both got regular. We also got a garden salad, which came with more bread. read more

Came here with a friend on a Sunday early evening after hiking in Henry Coe. I ordered the tri tip sandwich with beans as a side and my friend got burnt ends with Mac and cheese and potato salad. Our food came out quickly. There were plenty of tables for indoor or outdoor seating. I'm glad that my sandwich didn't come with BBQ sauce on it and I was able to add it myself. Food was salty, but tasty. We were both hungry and ate most of our food. If we are in the area again and in the mood for BBQ, we might come back! read more

We were in Gilroy then stopped by Little Bean's Cat Cafe before fueling our body. We were hungry and was a tad bummed we were told the wait would be 25 min. due to folks ordering over the phone or via delivery third party apps for the football game. Service was excellent. Ronnie ordered ribs, mac and cheese, and a baked potato w/o the chives. I ordered their special (turkey sandwich w/ garlic aioli. We also ordered 2 fountain drinks. The wait was barely 15 min. The mac and cheese was creamy and saucy. I tried Ronnie's massive baked potato; 'twas very good.. soft, but not overcooked/mushy. My sandwich (though I only ate half and brought the other half home) was succulent. I loved the pickled red onions. A very satisfying meal after a week of consistent workouts and diet. Loved the decor. They have outdoor seating as well. read more

I have always enjoyed trail dust, the pulled pork sandwich is my go to but everything I've had is good. It is a place my entire family enjoys. It's a fun place to dine in, the decor goes with the theme. Or it's easy enough to call ahead and pick it up to dine at home. I've always had friendly service. read more

Pleasant surprise with Trail Dust bbq! I don't eat a ton of bbq but my partner is pretty particular so decided to take him here to try on our way to Spina Farms. Came for lunch and there wasn't a wait. I got a kids meal because bbq is usually heavy for me and my partner got a brisket sandwich. The bread is delicious, the corn bread included, and the meat was super tender! Sides are yummy too and they have beef ribs right now as a special! Will be back to try the other items! There is no better BBQ I have found to beat this place! I didn't want to write this review because I want them to stay small and retain the outstanding quality of their meats! too many times growth can kill a restaurant! you must try them even if you think you don't like BBQ they smoke the meats not sure if that is the secret to their tender meats but we had a second party featuring their meats and just like the first times rave reviews even some of our vegan friends loved it! We are eating some of the leftovers and reheat up perfectly no Dryness or loss of flavor Anyone with taste or taste buds for that matter will enjoy this Place!! read more

My husband and I stopped by this spot after visiting a nearby pumpkin patch and we were starving. This place hit the spot. My husband both decided to get platters. I got the brisket with slaw and potato salad. The brisket is everything I wanted it to be. It was tender, flavorful, and delicious. The potato salad was pretty good with the right amount of acidity and tanginess; same with the slaw. The restaurant is very cute. The decor is something I would find in an old saloon. Service was good, nothing extraordinary. People taking our order were fine. Food was delivered to our table after 10 minutes. read more

I have ordered to go from Trail Dust BBQ numerous times. It's very hit or miss. Frustrating with the price of food these days to pay a lot of money for mediocre quality. Somewhere along the line someone must have dropped a whole container of salt onto the Brisket and black pepper and neglected to spread it around and wipe off the big clumps of seasoning. I ordered a stuffed baked potato with brisket, no sour cream. It was so overwhelming salty I couldn't eat it. I can't believe whoever dropped the salt shaker wouldn't have noticed and removed the over abundance of salt before serving the expensive baked potato! I called to let them know and they didn't seem the least bit concerned. read more

Tritip was fairly juicy and flavorful. I liked the macaroni and cheese which tasted more like an Alfredo sauce than the more common orange cheese macaroni. Coleslaw was basic cabbage but pretty good. Order at the counter, with friendly servers. read more

Got the Santa Marie or Maria I think tri tip salad.... Loved all the greens! But I wasn't super into the meat, I would've preferred to switch out for brisket to be honest. It's a self serve at the counter situation (not buffet). The gal still walked around and made sure we were doing ok which was nice. Inside was kind of small but the outside area was pretty big down the side. Perfect BBQ for meet ups or parties with the space. I'll need to come back for more brisket too because it was pretty good last time I came. read more

I must have deja vu because this place looks exactly like Aptos BBQ, Salinas BBQ & Canyons BBQ in Castro valley. The food and menus are identical! If that's the case then that makes for a bunch of solid bbq spots to stop in at in multiple locations! The tri tip is always tender with a nice smoke taste, the Mac and cheese is creamy and gooey and the beans are always full of meat! The spicy bbq sauce has a nice kick and isn't overly sweet and pair amazingly with the beans. The corn bread has a nice subtle crunch to it and isn't dry at all. Trail Dust definitely mimics the others I've mentioned and if they are all the same they definitely have the quality down at multiple locations. read more

Service was 5 stars, the staff were very kind and funny. Super helpful. I loved the inside it was very warm and homey feeling, the decorations for Xmas were also very cute! I had the burnt ends and they were good but drowned in a little too much sauce for me. The curd were not as fatty as I'd like. However, the brisket was good, and the pork ribs were fall off the bone. The sides were ok, the Mac and cheese would skip again but the coleslaw was bomb Def recommend this spot ! read more

Came here about 1.5 years ago, but finally getting around to the review . The day before a concert in San Francisco, I might a pit stop in Morgan town to refill my gas, and get some grub. Wiping away the trail dust from my sojourn, I stopped here at Trail Dust Bbq to also get a nice swig for my gullet. I ordered the two-meat, two-side combo -- brisket and ribs. This was mighty fine bbq and can be easily slated as a 'best-of' in north cal. The brisket had a very nicely defined blackened bark, juicy, and fatty, and I could absolutely taste the savory smokiness of the beef. Professionally smoked . Make a Texan proud too. The ribs were just a tiny bit dry, but when slathering in their house made bbq sauce, everything tasted good. Their homemade sides were to die for. The brisket pit beans is a must. Potato salad house-made blend. Finger licking good. Would highly recommend . read more

Mediocre BBQ. I ordered a Burnt Edges dish and it was kind of difficult to eat. The meat was kind of hard and tough, not tender at all, and covered in a sweet sugary bbq sauce that was just too sweet for me. I was just passing through but won't return and don't recommend. read more

We had an amazing experience with Trail Dust catering for our company BBQ! Everything was seamless from start to finish. The team arrived right on time, the food was hot, fresh, and absolutely delicious, and the setup was smooth and professional. A special shoutout to Stormy, the Catering Sales Coordinator--her communication throughout the process was outstanding. She was responsive, organized, and made sure every detail was handled, which made planning so much easier on our end. Our team couldn't stop talking about how great the food was, and the overall service truly exceeded expectations. I feel like I owe this place an updated review since it's been over 10 yrs since I first reviewed it. The food has improved quite a bit. I remember my first experience wasn't the best but now we do frequent this place whenever we're feeling some BBQ. It's a local favorite among smoked meat joints and I'd have to say I think their BBQ sauce is now my favorite! It has a nice smoky flavor and their spicy has a nice kick without being overpowering. During Covid we ordered from this place quite a bit and now that Covid is a thing of the past, we actually dined in! The ratio of men-women is still unbalanced but that's every BBQ place. If you wanna see more women, go hit up Fresh Choice. read more

Very disappointed with my experience at Trail Dust. The food here is honestly phenomenal, which makes this even more disappointing. After working a 16-hour shift, I treated myself to brisket meal my absolute favorite on Friday 2/6 evening and made one simple request when I called in: please don't wrap it in foil. That's just my personal preference. When I picked up my order, a young male teenager maybe early 20's employee mocked me, called me a "conspiracy theorist," and then sarcastically asked if I use fluoride in my toothpaste. I'm not sure what that had to do with my food request, but it felt unnecessary and disrespectful. I'm a local small business owner in Morgan Hill and always try to support other small businesses. It's extremely difficult to find good quality workers these days. I don't blame the owner, however, customers shouldn't be mocked for simple requests. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The manager personally reached out to me and sincerely apologized for the experience. I truly appreciated the professionalism and accountability. It meant a lot that they took the time to address the situation directly. That level of care reinforces why Trail Dust continues to be one of my favorite local restaurants. read more

I placed a catering order for my son's birthday after normally using taco guys. I wanted something different. Ordering was super easy. I did the ordering online and they had several different package options and ways to customize your order. The packages also listed approximately how many people that specific package would feed which was very helpful and pretty accurate i would say. On the day of when I picked up the food they had is packaged so well and everything I needed was included such as utensils and bbq sauce. The girls even helped me load up the food in my car! I would definitely order for other parties in the future. read more

Everything about this place is a 5 star. The service, food, and environment were awesome. I chuckled walking in because it had a sign saying "If you have a reservation, you're in the wrong place." It is such a chill vibe. I didn't get the person's name behind the counter, but his customer service was suburb. My husband found this place on Yelp. My bonus daughter is doing a play and had rehearsal at the community theatre. We needed something to do for 2 1/2 hours. It was a nice day date on a Saturday. There was a farmers market nearby and a lot of other places to check out. Back to my review for Trail Dust Barbecue, all the meats were yummy and flavorful. I didn't have a big appetite and I was able to get a tri tip kids meal with cornbread and potato salad. My husband got a two combo with brisket and pulled pork. Also, two sides, mac and cheese and coleslaw. We got cornbread and garlic bread. I was told the brisket gets sold out daily. All the sides were good and I liked it all equally. Mac and cheese isn't cheesy but enough cheese, the coleslaw had a apple cider vinegar taste (maybe it's just me) that I enjoyed, and the potato salad tasted like a perfect bbq potato salad. Lastly, I paired it all with a sour ale which was a perfect amount of tart. I would try everything again and I want to go back with a big appetite. I would like to try their desserts next. read more
