"Good food feeding good people" this is the motto emblazoned on the kitchen wall and describes this local gem of a diner style restaurant. Another sign states that Betsy's has been serving this community since 1981. I was greeted immediately upon entering and advised to "just sit anywhere." I grabbed the first booth I encountered and was brought water and menu right away. The waitress took my order of a bacon cheeseburger and onion rings ($16.50). A few minutes later the onion rings of my dreams (super crispy on the outside and a real onion rings inside with enough crunch left that you can bite through without dragging a soggy onion out of its outer shell, so each mouthful is both onion and crunchy coating) arrived and a sandwich with crispy (not soggy, underdone) bacon, hefty burger patty (done just how I like them with carmelized edges and perfectly done thick center) with cheese, pickles, red onions, lettuce and mayo. I asked them to leave off the tomato due to my food allergies. The bun was soft but held up well to the heft of the sandwich. The decor was classic 60's style diner. While the seats were well padded and the covering looked practically new, some of the tables showed the wear of the years on the corners. There is also a short lunch counter next to the kitchen. What really caught my attention is the staff seemed to know most of the guests and greeted them by name as they came and went and inquired into different aspects of their lives. This personal touch reflects what seems to be a long-time relationship with dedicated customers. Parking is close to the door. This place was a little hard for me to find as it is behind the bowling alley at Tennant Station Shopping center, but was well worth the effort to locate and enjoy. Betsy's Restaurant had a screaming menu! Our breakfast was delicious! The portions were so generous we had to cancel the pancakes.(Next time!) We finally decided on the chili verde, scrambled eggs, country potatoes with flour tortillas AND the eggs in a nest, with hash browns and bacon. Both were yummy yet I must say the chili verde and eggs were the favorite at the table. I have to mention the coffee was good and our mugs were always full. Betsy's crew was so friendly and attentive. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a smile at the door, seated timely and given time to figure out what to order. By the way, all the tables were full. Which immediately told me, we were about to have a fantastic meal. The food portions are awesome. They are not stingy or overpriced. The coffee is always fresh & great. Free refills, anyone? :) The chorizo pile is great after a hike. The Chile verde with eggs is also great for a kick of spice and warm tortillas. Come for the food, stay for the small town vibes. I have been a customer of this establishment since it was located on Monterey Highway over 30 years ago. I have always enjoyed the service and the food had always been flavorful and bountiful. As with many of the older businesses that are still around I'm sure they struggled with prices which have risen dramatically over the past 4-5 years. The food is still above average and the service in still maintained at a high level. However I've noticed that the portions have been reduced and smaller plates are being utilized. Prices have been increased and I would still prefer to pay additional costs for yesterday's portions!!!!!! This however will not deter me from eating there. read more

This place is pretty solid for a diner and i enjoyed it. The maple syrup was a little too watery for me but the pancake was soft and easy to eat, if only i had more time. TLDR: Overly salty Reuben. I was dropping my car off for service, and thought I would stop by here to get some brunch. When I pulled up around 9am to get my to-go order, the place was crowded... people were waiting outside for an open table. So my mom ordered the ruben, which is one of her favorite sandwiches. She thought it was very salty. She didn't like the sandwich at all. I ordered the Eggs in the Nest. It looks good on the outside, but the handling of the sandwich was a bit tough to do. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to just eat it with a knife and fork, or if I could handle it like a sandwich. I expected the egg to be nestled on the top of two layers of bread. But the thing fell apart almost instantly. But if I was supposed to eat it with a knife and fork, how come I didn't get any cutlery, like my wife's ham and eggs? I asked my wife how was her ham and eggs, and she said it was fine, although they over-buttered her bread. I know this is a beloved place in Morgan Hill. Betsy's is a cozy diner attached to the Morgan Hill bowling alley and serves up some hearty breakfast. We arrived on a Sunday around noon and waited outside for about 20 minutes. Chicken fried steak is my go-to order at any breakfast spot and Betsy's does it well. The steak was well-breaded and smothered with a tasty gravy- not bland and not overly salty. We said a few more minutes since it was our first time there, we had to check the menu first. what we order: drinks: -coffee 1/5: coffee was very bland and didn't have much flavor. It tasted like decaf. food: - Denver Omelet with hash browns and pancakes. 3/5. Pancakes were good and so was the omelet. Stop by for breakfast, it was an interesting location behind a strip mall all the way in the back in a corner. Thankfully GPS took me right there. I was greeted quickly and was escorted to a booth. Asked what I'd like to drink and I asked for water which they came back right away with. My favorite breakfast is Chicken Fried Steak which I wanted to try. I must say I've never had a Chicken Fried Steak ever prepared in this manner. It was actually a thin piece of steak, Fried with no batter and covered in gravy. So basically "Fried Steak" and Gravy. The steak was tough and jerky like. Hash Browns and Eggs were cooked fine but I left 3/4s of the steak behind. For me the meal was a 2 out of 5. This location is right across the street from my works branch office which I have to go to quarterly for meetings. I will give this place one more try choosing a different meal. read more

We started going here when Betsy actually ran it and her daughters helped her out. The daughters have now taken over but the good quality hasn't suffered. I came here with my team for lunch since we were in Morgan Hill and this was their go-to spot. I could see why, it's in a decent plaza with plenty of neighboring traffic/exposure! I ended up ordering the California Chicken Sandwich with bacon, and avocado on grilled sourdough bread (I opted for no jack cheese) and fries. The waiters are very friendly and came by to chat with us about our day and fill our coffee frequently. I wasn't very hungry that day, but the food was really good! It was filling and very well made. The fries were also amazing, I let them steal a few since I was unable to finish everything. Ambiance is very all-American diner-esque, this place still had an ebb and flow of customers at 1 pm!
