The food is from scratch country cooking. My wife ordered the southern Benedict which was homemade sausage, on a biscuit, with a poached egg topped by southern white gravy. It was pretty good stuff but the sausage was a little high sage for me but it was still excellent. I had the chicken fried steak which was hand breaded and well fried. I got it because I had never had one made from NY strip. The gravy was good, The hash browns were great as well. I really think this is one of the best diners food wise around. The service was good, it was brunch on a weekend so that is saying something. The ambiance is sort of strip mall meets diner with an outdoor patio. "Good food feeding good people" this is the motto emblazoned on the kitchen wall and describes this local gem of a diner style restaurant. Another sign states that Betsy's has been serving this community since 1981. I was greeted immediately upon entering and advised to "just sit anywhere." I grabbed the first booth I encountered and was brought water and menu right away. The waitress took my order of a bacon cheeseburger and onion rings ($16.50). A few minutes later the onion rings of my dreams (super crispy on the outside and a real onion rings inside with enough crunch left that you can bite through without dragging a soggy onion out of its outer shell, so each mouthful is both onion and crunchy coating) arrived and a sandwich with crispy (not soggy, underdone) bacon, hefty burger patty (done just how I like them with carmelized edges and perfectly done thick center) with cheese, pickles, red onions, lettuce and mayo. I asked them to leave off the tomato due to my food allergies. The bun was soft but held up well to the heft of the sandwich. The decor was classic 60's style diner. While the seats were well padded and the covering looked practically new, some of the tables showed the wear of the years on the corners. There is also a short lunch counter next to the kitchen. What really caught my attention is the staff seemed to know most of the guests and greeted them by name as they came and went and inquired into different aspects of their lives. This personal touch reflects what seems to be a long-time relationship with dedicated customers. Parking is close to the door. This place was a little hard for me to find as it is behind the bowling alley at Tennant Station Shopping center, but was well worth the effort to locate and enjoy. Food was amazing. I had biscuits and gravy which was excellent. My husband had the chile verde with eggs and potatoes. It was one of the best chile verde's he has had and he always try's the Chile Verde when it's offered at a restaurant. He said 7 stars out of 5. It was that good. The service was beyond excellent. We sat at the counter and had our food within 7-10 min from ordering. We were able to see the line cooks doing their magic from our seats. It's a well oiled machine. We paid the bill and then our waitress brought over a small bowl of Chile Verde for my husband. She said she noticed he had a tortilla left so she wanted him to have something to put in it and gave him a to go box. We will definitely come back for the food and the friendly welcoming service. I first moved into the area in 1977. Shortly after, I had my first experience eating a Betsy's. Since then, I've been eating there regularly. It's a true family run business. I've watched all Betsy and Jesse's girls grow up waiting on customers, and now their grandkids work there on and off. Their food is the very best. I love the Chili Verde burrito for breakfast. It's huge, and you never leave hungry. Their portion's are large and filling. Their Cashew Chicken Salad is also great. When you pull into the parking lot, you can always tell how great a restaurant is by all the people waiting outside for a table. This is a restaurant with LOTS of regulars. We always recognize the regulars, as it's like coming home for a family meal. Betsy and her girls are warm and friendly, talking to customers like they're part of the family. We finally decided on the chili verde, scrambled eggs, country potatoes with flour tortillas AND the eggs in a nest, with hash browns and bacon. Both were yummy yet I must say the chili verde and eggs were the favorite at the table. I have to mention the coffee was good and our mugs were always full. I have been a customer of this establishment since it was located on Monterey Highway over 30 years ago. I have always enjoyed the service and the food had always been flavorful and bountiful. As with many of the older businesses that are still around I'm sure they struggled with prices which have risen dramatically over the past 4-5 years. The food is still above average and the service in still maintained at a high level. However I've noticed that the portions have been reduced and smaller plates are being utilized. Prices have been increased and I would still prefer to pay additional costs for yesterday's portions!!!!!! This however will not deter me from eating there. read more

This place is pretty solid for a diner and i enjoyed it. The maple syrup was a little too watery for me but the pancake was soft and easy to eat, if only i had more time. TLDR: Overly salty Reuben. I was dropping my car off for service, and thought I would stop by here to get some brunch. When I pulled up around 9am to get my to-go order, the place was crowded... people were waiting outside for an open table. So my mom ordered the ruben, which is one of her favorite sandwiches. She thought it was very salty. She didn't like the sandwich at all. I ordered the Eggs in the Nest. It looks good on the outside, but the handling of the sandwich was a bit tough to do. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to just eat it with a knife and fork, or if I could handle it like a sandwich. I expected the egg to be nestled on the top of two layers of bread. But the thing fell apart almost instantly. But if I was supposed to eat it with a knife and fork, how come I didn't get any cutlery, like my wife's ham and eggs? I asked my wife how was her ham and eggs, and she said it was fine, although they over-buttered her bread. I know this is a beloved place in Morgan Hill. Betsy's is a cozy diner attached to the Morgan Hill bowling alley and serves up some hearty breakfast. We arrived on a Sunday around noon and waited outside for about 20 minutes. Chicken fried steak is my go-to order at any breakfast spot and Betsy's does it well. The steak was well-breaded and smothered with a tasty gravy- not bland and not overly salty. Stop by for breakfast, it was an interesting location behind a strip mall all the way in the back in a corner. Thankfully GPS took me right there. I was greeted quickly and was escorted to a booth. Asked what I'd like to drink and I asked for water which they came back right away with. My favorite breakfast is Chicken Fried Steak which I wanted to try. I must say I've never had a Chicken Fried Steak ever prepared in this manner. It was actually a thin piece of steak, Fried with no batter and covered in gravy. So basically "Fried Steak" and Gravy. The steak was tough and jerky like. Hash Browns and Eggs were cooked fine but I left 3/4s of the steak behind. For me the meal was a 2 out of 5. This location is right across the street from my works branch office which I have to go to quarterly for meetings. I will give this place one more try choosing a different meal. read more

Rather than addressing the matter professionally, our server, Jenny Rogers, who is also one of the owners, made derogatory comments towars my children , such as 'Who invited these bunch of animals?' and 'bring them out more often so they know how to act.'
