    Garlic Salmon Salad with prawns
    Peter E.

We were traveling from San Francisco to Morro Bay and stopped in Gilroy for dinner. The waitstaff were friendly, the accommodations comfortable if dated, and the food was tasty and plentiful. My wife ordered the Garlic Salmon Salad, I got the Baby Back Ribs. Both were delicious, and were very ample serving sizes. The salmon was cooked perfectly and nicely presented with the added prawns on a bed of lettuce. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender, the sauce had just the right kick for me, and the baked potato topped it off nicely. The staff were appropriately attentive even while preparing to close for the evening. This is a nice neighborhood restaurant; wish we lived closer!

Went in again today and I had to try the New York Steak Sandwich and the potato salad with some delicious lemon soup. The New York Steak sandwich was PERFECT. Made to my request and the meat was so good. Not too much fat and bone. It was 99% meat and I was impressed because some places use meats with a lot of fat or bone and takes off the value of the plate. Overall this was a 5 star plate for me and the price was perfect for my wallet. LuLu waitress was great again and her service was a definite TRUE ONE!! The soda Coke with ice was also pretty good. Left me fed for the rest of the day.

We stopped by this cozy breakfast spot & we're pleasantly surprised! The atmosphere was warm & welcoming & sat down quickly. The staff were friendly & attentive. We ordered from the breakfast special menu & everything was cooked just right -- my coffee cup was fresh and refilled often. Our plate sizes portions were generous, prices were fair, and service was quick even though it was a busy morning. We'll be back for sure!

I went with the chilaquiles which I believe they're known for and they did not disappoint. Great flavor and definitely something I'd order again. I also tried the horchata latte, which was delicious and unique. It wasn't overly sweet, so if you prefer less sugary drinks, you'll love it. Personally, I would have liked just a touch more sweetness, but that's just preference. Service was fast and our server was very friendly. Overall, a great lunch spot and we'll definitely be back next time we're at the outlets.

The eggs were cooked perfectly, the fruit portion was generous and tasted incredibly fresh, and the chilaquiles themselves had the perfect level of spice with really great flavor throughout. Super satisfying and definitely a solid option if you're craving quality chilaquiles. The only downside was the tri tip. It was pretty bland, the cut wasn't great, and unfortunately tasted more frozen prepared rather than fresh tri tip. As for the Strawberry Matcha, I wasn't the biggest fan. It didn't really taste like matcha at all and came across more like strawberry milk. It was still sweet and enjoyable enough, but if you're expecting an actual matcha flavor, this might disappoint. Better suited for someone looking for a sweeter, unique twist rather than a true matcha drink. Service was excellent, attentive and welcoming throughout the experience. The ambiance was also great, clean, modern, bright, and very open. My only minor critique would be the seating arrangement, which felt a little awkward since the tables were placed pretty close together, making the space feel slightly cramped despite the open layout.

This place lives up to all the hype as one of the best breakfast joints in the area, with huge portions, friendly service, and that cozy local vibe. I started with the chocolate cream drink (their rich, creamy hot chocolate or chocolate milk variation--whatever it exactly is, it's indulgent!). It was perfectly sweet without being overpowering, super smooth and velvety, topped just right. If you're a chocolate lover, this hits the spot and pairs amazingly with breakfast. Not too heavy, but definitely satisfying. For my main, I went with the famous Rosebud breakfast, and I can see why it's a favorite for so many people. It's a hearty, loaded plate with eggs, meats, potatoes, and all the classic fixings done exceptionally well. Everything was cooked perfectly--fluffy eggs, crispy edges where needed, and those fresh country potatoes were addictive. The portions are generous; I couldn't finish it all and definitely didn't need lunch afterward! The staff was quick, welcoming, and the place was buzzing with locals. If you're in Gilroy and craving a solid, no-fuss breakfast with standout items like the Rosebud and a great chocolate drink, OD's Kitchen is a must-visit. Highly recommend--I'll be back soon! 5/5 stars

I can say, without hesitation, that this was the second worst Chicken Fried Steak I've ever had in my life. The breading completely came off the steak. The steak was thin and WAY over cooked. It was tougher than shoe leather. I could barely cut it with the steak knife, and it gave my jaw a helluva workout trying to chew that thing. And the gravy was terrible. So thin, I could see the steak right through it. It looked like a glazed donut. That's how thin the gravy was. Then, I asked for EXTRA crispy hash browns. They weren't even regular crispy, let alone EXTRA crispy. The eggs and the English muffin were fine. It's hard to mess up those things. The service was fine, but the kitchen COMPLETELY dropped the ball. I drove all the way from Santa Clara, thinking about the great CFS they used to have. Wasting all that gas, for one of the worst breakfasts I've had in a long, long time. smh

I chose cornbread, baked beans, and coleslaw. The burnt ends are by far my favorite! They were so flavorful and absolutely the most perfect texture. Not too much fat, but so much flavor! The ribs were also delicious. They weren't "fall off the bone", but not everyone likes that anyways. I thought they were amazing! The baked beans were fine, I was expecting them to be sweeter but now I know. Next time I'll get the potato salad. I got to try it and it was delicious and unique. The coleslaw was good and fresh, perfect crunch. It was a nice contrast in flavor with all the meat and barbecue sauce. The cornbread is not the sweet kind. Which is nice because you can put your own butter and honey on it to your liking. They have an awesome selection of beers in the fridge and some on tap as well. I will definitely be coming again, and soon!

We arrived on a Saturday early evening for dinner recently. Old City Hall Restaurant is located in a nice area in beautiful downtown Gilroy. Parking is accessible along the streets. The restaurant use to serve as Gilroy's old courthouse and jail. It has been transformed into a majestic and historic restaurant building. The decor is modern and traditional. Plenty of tables are available for dine in downstairs. There is a full bar with plenty of bar stools. The lovely patio looks inviting and spacious. Unfortunately I was not able to see the upstairs dining area. We ordered a Chicken Cordon Bleu with a Caesar salad and baked potato, Scallops and Prawns with a house salad and coleslaw, crème brûlée, and a couple of happy hour drinks of local IPA and house Chardonnay. Everything was delicious. My Chicken Cordon Bleu was flavorful and the combination of the cream sauce, cheese, ham, and chicken all went well together. The wifey said her Scallops and Prawns was scrumptious and the tropical salsa was a delightful complement. Her only gripe was that the portions did not match the price point of the dish. The crème brûlée was delectable and the perfect dessert to complement a wonderful 3 course meal. Overall we enjoyed our experience at Old City Hall Restaurant.
