This place lives up to all the hype as one of the best breakfast joints in the area, with huge portions, friendly service, and that cozy local vibe. I started with the chocolate cream drink (their rich, creamy hot chocolate or chocolate milk variation--whatever it exactly is, it's indulgent!). It was perfectly sweet without being overpowering, super smooth and velvety, topped just right. If you're a chocolate lover, this hits the spot and pairs amazingly with breakfast. Not too heavy, but definitely satisfying. For my main, I went with the famous Rosebud breakfast, and I can see why it's a favorite for so many people. It's a hearty, loaded plate with eggs, meats, potatoes, and all the classic fixings done exceptionally well. Everything was cooked perfectly--fluffy eggs, crispy edges where needed, and those fresh country potatoes were addictive. The portions are generous; I couldn't finish it all and definitely didn't need lunch afterward! The staff was quick, welcoming, and the place was buzzing with locals. It's been awhile since the last time we were here so it's good to come back and try again the food if it's the same still. I got the steak and cheese and chose pancakes and country potatoes for the sides while my mom got the od special . It's always nice to have choices what would you like for the sides. My mom and I didn't expect that we can actually change the toast to pancakes as it's not mentioned in the menu. My favorite part is the maple syrup as it's served warm. For someone who only uses syrup for pancakes that's a big plus for me. The steak and cheese was good but I feel like it's missing some taste to it that the salsa helped to cover. Service was good. We sat at the back room but I feel like we're checked enough times to make sure we're okay. The only funny thing I found was when I paid for the bill in the front, one of the server supposed to walk to our table to give us the to go box but instead the other server stopped her and gave me the to go box instead. The ambiance was casual. At first, it's really nice as it's quite peaceful and can actually enjoy the food quietly but when a big group came, they're loud that I tried to rush to finish so I can leave the restaurant already. Hadn't been there in years but remembered they made great French toast so went there for breakfast. French toast was cold, butter didn't melt, only got half an egg and the syrup was like colored sugar water! Absolutely gross! The glowing reviews are accurate. I can attest firsthand as I came to OD's Kitchen to celebrate a gf's birthday and was just blown away. Brekkie is not usually what I would lean-into meal-wise over lunch or dinner but with the food being so good, I would actually come back. We both ordered the Kitchen Sink plate which was loaded with all of the breakfast fixings and covered in a bed of delectable gravy, and topped off with two sunny-side up eggs. It was so much food that we were able to take at least half to go for a second meal. You know the place is good when there's people waiting outside. Despite the small wait time, the service was fast and attentive. The next time I'm in Gilroy, I definitely will be making my way back to OD's Kitchen! read more

I'm ashamed of myself that I haven't been back here in 10 plus years! This place on my way up to San Jose has been out of the way for my liking and I'm sure to now stop on by more often. I've always remembered they are not shy with the portions and did they deliver. I ordered the half rose bud as I remember they serve well and it was plenty! This place is great! From the food to the service there isn't anything bad I can say about my experience. I got the Kitchen Sink which was delicious. It comes with fried potatoes with diced ham, bell peppers, onions, sautéed together with cheddar cheese and 2 eggs on top, with choice of toast. The portion size of this dish is on the bigger side. Lovely little downtown gem. Welcomed right away and handed menus to sit wherever we liked. It's was quaint and comfortable. I ordered the "little one" full breakfast but with one egg. My bf ordered the linguisa and eggs. Both were delicious, eggs cooked perfect, the sourdough toast was so good I asked what brand, it was from a local baker Paulino's in Watsonville. Best sourdough! I read the reviews so I had to try this place. When we walked in, the lady handed me two menus and told me to sit anywhere. We ordered and she brought us our utensils and drinks. My friend and I wondered why the server was being rude. I tried talking to the server and she just seemed off. She rarely made eye contact. It was 1 pm and pretty empty so it wasn't that she was busy. While we were eating they decided to clean and all I could smell were the chemicals. There's something about the food that made me feel sick afterwards- maybe the extreme amount of oil dripping from the bottom. My tummy felt so bloated and gassy after eating here- it left a bad taste in my mouth and definitely my stomach! Lol The place is decorated for the holidays- I love the festive cheer! Came on Tuesday, right before they were closing at 2pm. Downtown area of Gilroy. Accessibility - there were street parking and handicap parking in a nearby parking lot. Atmosphere- really nice and friendly staff. It is a quaint small diner. Service- they were able to accommodate our party of 11 and very flexible for some of us who wanted to share the entrees. Food- over all, the dishes were tasty and good portions to share. - fajita salad: fresh spring mix, carne asada meat. Slightly dry - Kitchen Sink Sandwich: fresh roasted turkey breast and good amount of meat - Kitchen Sink Breakfast- it was the best stirred fried cubed potatoes with ham, onions and bell pepper. I've come here for breakfast a few times, but today's experience was very disappointing. An elderly woman with two long braids made us uncomfortable by joking with customers about firing a new hire if he didn't do his job right. Her tone and constant jokes throughout our visit were so off-putting that we almost left the restaurant. There seemed to be a language barrier between them, which may have made her feel comfortable speaking so openly about him, assuming he didn't understand. The new employee looked uneasy, but he still did a great job assisting us and was polite and attentive. I hope management addresses this. No employee should be spoken about that way in front of customers. read more

The place was really busy, even at 11 in the morning, and seemed to be mostly locals - always a good sign. I had the afore-mentioned 3-egg omelette but without the cheese (I never understand this American desire to put cheese on everything), and it was as good as expected. With hash browns on the side and a couple of slices of rye bread, it was the perfect eggy breakfast that I'd been craving. The coffee wasn't too bad either. This place is a little diner with lots of space on the inside. The food was delicious and best breakfast i've had in a minute plus the portion size was huge enough for my husband and I to split and mix with another option and get a decent breakfast plate. Definitely recommend the rosebud and my daughter loved the french toast. Service was awesome very attentive and seated us pretty fast for how packed it was. I love the fact the servers are tatted you don't see that often and the owner is walking around serving as well. Wow! Looked for breakfast spots in Gilroy and saw OD's. Glad we decided on them. Sat down and immediately was asked about drinks. Tea and Coffee refilled and topped off 5 times. All of the staff worked all the tables like a team. The owner Mike (I believe) took our order. My wife wanted the french toast combo and I chose Chilaquiles. They had mild , medium and spicy salsa for the dish so he brought me samples so I could choose the heat. (Samples in the picture) . I chose the mild red with medium green on the side. The spicy was phenomenal as well for those who enjoy it fire ‍ and over easy eggs. All the salsa is made in house by the owners. Best chilaquiles I've ever had. My wife loved the fact that the syrup for the French toast is served warm and mixes with the melted butter. She had bacon and over easy eggs as well. She loved it. This is what a breakfast spot should be, welcoming , great folks with smiles and great food. We're always working in and going through Gilroy, so this is where we will stop for grub. I've had a loooooong love affair with the Sante Fe omelet. Going back to not long after they opened. After living out of state for over 20 years, I literally yearned and searched for a replacement.
