I have to say this is a must try if you want to be blown away with what is possible. I'm a carnivore and this restaurant could easily convert me to plants. I'm still stunned how good the burgers and pizza are and honestly I call it Vegan Black Magic because it's not just good it's honestly better tasting than some of my favorite burger joints. We tried out the California buffalo wings yesterday and they absolutely popped. If you're still on the fence: Frozen cocktails on an 80 degree day is going to make for a great experience. My original choice for dinner fell through one afternoon after a day at the beach. Yelp to the rescue! After looking up nearby places I chose craft roots. 5 stars I was intrigued, first the old town feel in a very nice area I was seated right away the menu was very extensive and had many choices and all vegan! I ordered a "chicken" sandwich and a beer the sandwich was more like a burger it came with fries & small side salad it was very good and filling. The vibe was absolutely amazing the staff members seemed to be having as much fun as the diners. They had a good mix of people families, large parties and couples they have outside dining as well as inside. We just hit town and were looking for a nice place for a late lunch and Craft Roots filled the bill. Service was fast and friendly. Lots of beers on tap. I opted for the Pliny the Elder Did I mention this restaurant is Vegan? It is and fantastic. I had the Fiji apple and fig salad and my sweetie had the Caesar salad which had some amazing grilled mushrooms! We loved our delicious meal on the patio with our pup and our friends raved about their food. Such an amazing lunchtime experience. The food is so tasty, I came 2 days in a row. Icy was my server. Super nice and explained the menu. And she remembered my name! My favorite was the Japanese Cauliflower. And really, everything was good. 1st day, I had the Japanese cauliflower and teriyaki bowl. 2nd day, I had the chili fries (this sauce is vegan? Yes) and Korean bowl. The owner said hi. This place was so fabulous, so happy our friends found it for lunch. The parking structure was nearby so it was pretty easy. The restaurant was busy, but we didn't have to wait for too long. Driving through town, craving a great beer. Our local was closed. Now what? Let's see what YELP has revealed. There in the review, Russian River Brewing Company, ON TAP! Check the menu, let's go. What a great welcoming locals hang out. The entryway is steep, wouldn't recommend crutches or a wheelchair, use the side entrance. Once inside, a few tables, a bar for about 8, television on in the corner and a wood burning oven all aglow awaiting the next paddle of dough. The mood was laid back and comfortable. This was our first time in a total vegan restaurant. We had already settled on a great beer, now what do we eat. The menu has something for everyone. We settled on the cheeZe pizza. A handmade, wood fired pizza. A little skeptical, how will vegan cheeZe taste? DELICIOUS!!! The perfect amount of tomato sauce, a robust pesto and some of the cheesiest cheese ever! Nothing to take home but a warm feeling and a full belly. We enjoyed so much, we came back again. We had half cheese and half "meat." We will look for something like this close to home. As a person who enjoys meat regularly, up until recently I'd never tried a vegan pizza until I paid my 1st visit to Craft Roots. I was skeptical but open minded, as my friend raved about the food here. Now that I've done it, I'm pleased to report that the mushroom pizza with vegan sausage they serve here is not only delicious, but it's impossible to tell simply by eating it that the pie doesn't contain either diary or meat. The portion size was decidedly "personal pizza" sized, but it completely hit the spot and I left feeling both full and satisfied after our meal. Unfortunately, the service from our server, Cassidy, was one of the worst I've experienced in a while. She came across as irritated from the start and consistently acted like doing even basic parts of her job was an inconvenience. The food and service at Craft Roots is the best! I love the South County pizza with mushrooms, leeks, garlic, and crispy onions. So good! Today's dilemma: I'm not local but was passing through, didn't have time to dine-in, and wanted the South County pizza to go. Problem is it's fragrant and I didn't want my new car to smell like garlic after the 90-minute drive home. Solution: The folks at Craft Roots had the genius idea to par bake the crust with toppings on the side so I could finish it at home. Result: Everything worked out perfectly! Food: Mac and cheese 4/5 There's a strong tomato flavor which was pretty unexpected for Mac and Cheese. The noodles have a bouncy chew and the sauce doesn't feel overwhelming rich. Greek Burger: 4/5 This burger tastes like a falafel. It tastes fresh and tangy with a bit of creamy texture. The bun is soft and you're able to eat the burger without making a mess. Salad with Citrus Dressing: 4/5 I normally don't order salads but I was feeling like I wanted to be " healthier". To my joy, the salad is pretty good! The citrus dressing primarily tastes like lemon and the salad didn't taste bitter at all. I'd get this salad again anytime. Service: Quick and friendly! First time here - I love when restaurants come up with creative vegetarian dishes, or healthier options, so had to give this place a try! I was here at 2 p.m. on a Sunday, so it wasn't very crowded, likely due to our timing. It is a small space, but it appears to also have some outdoor side seating. It was a 99 degree day, so we sat indoors, which was a bit warm, but bearable. I had the Korean BBQ tofu rice bowl dish. It was too spicy for me. It was tasty, other than being a bit too hot, especially on a 99 degree day. That made it not very enjoyable. I had asked the waitress if the Teriaki bowl dish or the BBQ dish was more popular, as I said I love the flavor of Teriaki and BBQ sauces. She told me if I love the sauces, then the BBQ dish was the way to go, as it had more sauce. It may be my fault, as I don't know if Korean BBQ is typically spicy. I love sweet BBQ sauce. So, it depends upon your preference. Next time I'll try the Teriaki! It was quite noisy inside, even though it was during an off-hour. I couldn't sit across the table from my friend, as we wouldn't have been able to hear each other, so we sat on a corner of the table. There was a dog inside, which some people may love; having a sister that is deathly allergic to animals, and having one in a small enclosed space where they are serving food, is not what I enjoy with a meal. I may be in the minority, but after seeing what someone's dog did in a grocery store the other day, and the owner just walking away, I don't think that is where dogs should be. The Good: Great ambiance, and great options for vegan, vegetarian, and sober/dry/straight-edge folks. Tasty Jambalaya, Salads, and Pakora Burger. The Not So Good: Lackluster service and inconsistent food and drinks. I enjoyed my Pakora Burger with side salad and the Jambalaya a lot, but the pizzas were a little one dimensional flavorwise, and that flavor of faux cheese was a little overpowering for the non-vegans at the table. While staff were courteous, the jambalaya took a long time to come out. So long in fact, that most of us had already finished eating by the time it arrived. The good news is that staff apologized for the snafu and took the jambalaya off our bill. I had a Zero Things Green cocktail, which was okay, but I didn't love its rather one-note green taste. The Mule was also an okay drink, but lacked flavor and was a little overpoweringly sweet for our tastes. That said, I'd be willing to give Craft Roots another chance sometime, given the uniqueness of finding a Vegan restaurant in the South Bay. read more

Probably the most flavorful veggie pizza that I have ever had, but with very simple ingredients. I suspect there were a few extra ingredients added than what I saw on the menu (maybe thyme). Delicious vegan food in a fun outdoor picnic table setting! It's on a cute downtown Morgan hill street with twinkling lights and large picnic tables for outdoor dining. They have gluten free options which is great. The crispy mushroom burger with a gluten free bun is incredibly delicious! They have tofu nuggets and fries for the kids, a lot of different drinks to choose from, a Japanese cauliflower dish that's good. We also enjoyed the chili fries! Yum. The parking was free at a public lot nearby and there is also free street parking. The staff was friendly and very cool! I like the knife stuck in a box of cauliflower on the kitchen counter. The food so far has been very good. We have had the combination pizza , sausage and mushroom calzone. Liked them both. We really liked the Mezza plate $17.00. The hummus was excellent. The pickles and olives also good. Very good choices for the cheese are spot on. The salami and flatbread offered a good choice to hold the condiments. We liked the fig spread. The Bourbon Bakon Burger $21.00 tastes fantastic. The BBQ sauce used is sweet and savory. I had the sweet potato fries and they are good. We also ordered the potato fries too which are just as good. Just wished the burgers came with a wedge of pickle. We also had the CR Burger $19.00. Again can't go wrong with this burger. Just like a well cooked cheese burger. We definitely will be back.
