If this restaurant were in San Jose, it would be packed all day, every day! I've been here multiple times with different people, and the food has been consistently amazing every single visit. They serve American-Asian fusion comfort food, and everything I've tried has been delicious. On my most recent visit, we ordered the Loco Moco and the Chicken Satay. The Loco Moco was definitely the star of the meal--it was absolutely incredible! The staff is always friendly, attentive, and welcoming. The restaurant is clean, modern, and well-maintained, with plenty of seating options, including tables, a bar, and outdoor seating. Even though it's in Gilroy, it's absolutely worth the drive. What a life saver! We were coming back from Carmel and wanted to stop by the area for lunch. Our original lunch plans fell thru since there was a huge wait at the restaurant but we saw that Alehouse And Bistro was also in the same plaza and decided to give them a try instead. We had a party of 10, 6 adults and 4 kids and were able to get seated immediately. Very clean modern place with a really nice and well stocked bar. Food was an interesting combination of pub food and asian fusion, which just happened to fit our tastes. I had the loco moco and my partner had the mushroom risotto. Food was tasty without feeling too heavy for gastropub food and the servers was super attentive to us and the kids. Our friends liked their poke bowl and katsu curry as well. Shout out to our server who went above and beyond getting a toy our toddler dropped behind the bench. Definitely a place to consider if you need a place to rest and eat when you come thru Gilroy, hopefully next time we will get a chance to try our the cocktails! read more

Had a very enjoyable lunch with the family here. Was seated quickly and our orders were taken pretty fast. The inside is clean and quant. They have a decent selection for kids. I got a teriyaki salmon plate which came with rice. The teriyaki sauce was house made I believe. Had a very good taste and my salmon was grilled well. (Forgot to take pictures). The rice was actually really good as well. My wife had a Poblano sandwich that she enjoyed a lot. The fries were also really good as I stole some from her and the kids. The garlic fries were a great addition. Kids chicken tenders weren't anything great but a solid item. The bathrooms were gender neutral but the toilet seat covers were on the opposite wall from the toilet. Not convenient. First time coming here, I stopped in for a late lunch and had a really great experience. Walked in and got seated right away and I loved that they offer both indoor and outdoor seating. It wasn't busy for a Saturday afternoon, so the vibe felt relaxed and I didn't feel rushed at all. Service was great and the food came out pretty quickly. I ordered the KFC bowl and it was delicious with just the right amount of spice. Also had the steak bleu salad, the steak was cooked exactly how I asked and tasted amazing. It was my first time here and wish I took pics of the food! Everything was fabulous except the service was very slow and the side benches are very uncomfortable which is why I'm docking it one star. We were looking for a new spot to eat at for lunch in Gilroy. After a quick research on Yelp, Alehouse and Bistro was highly rated so we decided to give them a try. We arrived on a late Saturday afternoon for lunch. The restaurant is located in a nice plaza in Gilroy. Parking is easy and accessible in the large parking lot. Upon entering, the bistro had a clean sleek modern decor to it with an enticing bar that looked inviting. The patio was large and looked lively especially on a nice warm night. Our server/bartender Jacob was friendly and informative on the menu. We ordered a couple of happy hour drinks, strawberry sour and the island oasis. Our son got a strawberry watermelon lemonade. All our drinks were refreshing and delicious. As for food we ordered a hot stone bibimbop, kid's chicken strips, and a heirloom tomato and burrata. Everything was flavorful and satisfying. The Korean sauce for the bibimbop was so tasty and had the right amount of kick to it. The heirloom tomato and burrata was crisp and light. Overall we enjoyed our experience at Alehouse and Bistro. The local bistro atmosphere was a good vibe. I liked the Korean fusion in some of the menu options. We hope to be back again to try other dishes and the happy hour menu. read more

Great service , excellent food and convenient location. We sat outside so didn't get a chance to explore the interior but there were a lot of people ; young and old alike. We walked in at 7:30 pm on Friday , the place was busy , but we were lucky to get seated outdoors right away. Our server was friendly and professional, service was prompt. For appetizers we ordered the coconut prawns 4, and mahi mahi tacos 4.5, both were fresh with excellent flavors. Although the tacos were my favorite. We also ordered the Hot stone bibimbap as main course to share. Unfortunately, this place was a miss for us. We came in for brunch with some friends and were really looking forward to trying a variety of dishes to share. The service was friendly and the patio seating was pleasant, though it could definitely use more sun protection like umbrellas. Luckily, we came on a nice day. As for the food, it just didn't live up to expectations. The Spam fried rice was okay; on the greasy side and lacking flavor beyond the spam itself. The pork belly had good flavor and a nice texture, but the portion we received was mostly fat with very little actual meat. The steamed dumplings had a tasty filling, but the wrappers were soggy, which really threw off the overall experience. The highlight was the galbi tacos, which had great flavor, but even those were served a bit cold. Maybe we caught the kitchen on an off day, but for a menu that sounds so promising, the food just didn't deliver. read more

First impression a few days ago while scheduling the reservation was smooth. I was concerned that the abundance of low scored reviews were from people complaining about their servers so I requested a great server for Friday night. The response from the very cool guy who answered the phone was, "No problem, we only have great servers Friday night". Server Nicole was perfect, salads were excellent (we've never had more delicious salads than here tonight!!), appetizers were wonderful, entrees were great, cocktails were terrific. We absolutely enjoyed our time here at Alehouse & Bistro. Each time my hubby and I come here for date night, we get greeted by the sweetest staff and we're helped fairly quickly. We decided to go out today to find a restaurant where we could also bring our dog outside to since we wanted to celebrate my furbabies 7th birthday. We were seated in their beautiful outdoor area where they turned on the heated lamp for us. All the staff was super friendly to our furbaby and gave him water and some chicken too! We also ordered him a plate of chicken for his special day and he absolutely enjoyed it (and the attention). We also enjoyed our food as well, very good portions and so neatly decorated! She told us that Covid had hurt the original business and they weren't really able to recover. Gilroy isn't really the place I think of when I think of fine dining anyway. Now the establishment is a little more mid-scale although the wife had their spicy pork belly and squid that runs $25. A bit pricey for a lunch item but she enjoyed it. I had the Nashville hot chicken sandwich. The sandwich was good, crispy and juicy chicken breast but I would have liked it a bit hotter. I really wish I were able to try the food here because looking at the menu everything looked amazing. When we stopped in for dinner there were 4 parties on the patio, all of which were already in the middle of their meal, and only a few more tables inside with patrons. We were greeted by a very friendly girl who gave us the option of sitting inside, or out on the patio. We chose the patio. She said that the table was still dirty because a party had just left but she would send someone over to clean it for us. We waited for about 10 minutes for a busser to come clear and clean the table. He only cleared it and walked away. About 5 minutes later he returned with waters and silverware. We moved the glasses anticipating that he would clean the table, but he started to walk away. My husband stopped him and asked if he would wipe down the table since there were still large pieces of food left behind and he said he would come back. When he finally came back my husband and I were the ones that ended up cleaning the table because he set the towel down and walked away to clear dishes from another table. We still sat and waited another 5 minutes for our server to come and greet us. It never happened. There were 2 servers working the patio and neither one came over to our table when they came out to check on their other parties. We didn't feel like being ignored anymore so we got up and left. We were pretty disappointed too because it looked like they had some pretty tasty things on their menu. The reason why I am giving 2 stars is because the girl who greeted us was super sweet, and because the atmosphere was actually pretty cool. Oh well. read more

I planned to meet up with a long time friend who I haven't seen in a long time, but we communicate via FB. I suggested here because I needed a patio for Cako. They have a patio seating area which is great, I only wished there was a heater but other than that, it was a nice area to eat and catch up. We started with wings and asked for both kinds of preparations, very good! I had the shrimp scampi and this dish was very good! Someone had the tacos which were great, and the chicken parm which was excellent! Staci had the ribeye which she said was tender. Good wine list! I also had the Mr. Black Old Fashion, which had a nice coffee flavor. What a great drink! We also had the budin flan and the strawberry nutella crepes, both sooo good! The others didn't care about the flan, but I thought it was excellent! Very unique! What a great way to end our meal! Jacob took really great care of us! Even made it a point to say hello to Cako! The bun was a soft chewy brioche roll. The picked onions added a nice tang, but the perfectly fried egg was the runny gooey yolkey situation that tied it all together. Pro Tip: I added a little bit of their house gochujang sauce and I wouldn't recommend it any other way. The wings were crispy and delicious. The cocktails were balanced and well crafted. The wine list is brief, but well curated. Our waiter was really friendly, knowledgeable, honest, and he kept us happy.
