Vines and pints - TRUFFLE SHUFFLE SLIDERS

    Vines and pints

We came during what I would describe as a busy halloween weekend festive event! The streets were…read morefull of people dressed up and so were the bars. Vine and pint was the same, packed but bar top was open so we grabbed a seat and ordered my wife and I some sliders as an afternoon snack! Chatted with the bar tender and learned more about the festivities going on since it was a Friday before halloween so I was curious if Gilroy was always so lively or it was just that weekend. Bartender was great and even offered me a few samples of the local brews just to try. Honestly didn't recall which things but I do recall one was a sour and ipa for the first time. But I think I enjoyed the one that tasted like a sangria. I joked about hearing that Gilroy was garlic capital so asked if there was a garlic beer since I saw somewhere there was garlic ice cream, but unfortunately there wasn't a garlic beer on tap so no luck there. Soon afterwards our sliders came and we got to enjoy our afternoon snack before heading out to locate me a sample of garlic ice cream in the garlic capital! Sliders were good and medium well! If only Gilroy was the final stop on the road trip I think I would've enjoyed a bar hoping experience since it seemed like there were plenty of bars to choose from!

The restaurant was closed for the private event…read more This place is located in downtown Gilroy and I went on a Wednesday night and there was parking available, about a block away, on the street. I can see this street being busy and parking hard to get on a weekend. The restaurant has plenty of tables but no outside seating. There is a large bar with a great selection of wine, spirits and beer. The team serving us was welcoming and attentive. They knew their wines and were happy to make great recommendations. Our party did not get to order from the food menu because it was a preset menu for dinner. There was a buffet with a protein, vegetables, salad and dessert. I took one star off because of how greasy the food was. Other than that hiccup, I would come back here on my own. The service was outstanding - attentive but no pressure. An upscale place in downtown Gilroy. I highly recommend.

Kirigin is our new favorite winery in Gilroy and Monterey bay!!! Simply amazing wine and even more…read moreamazing wine clubs!! They have a huge selection of reds and their desert wine is to die for. They also host large events. I absolutely love the ambiance of the tasting room, which includes a very long tasting bar for those crowded days. By all means, allow a couple of hours for this tasting, you'll enjoy your time here. The downside, I'm currently living in MN and there's no shipping offered to that state, otherwise we would have joined a wine club.

The staff member behind the bar greeted us with a blank, deadpan stare (otherwise known as a "GenZ Stare") that made the whole interaction feel awkward from the start. When we mentioned it was our first time visiting and that we were excited to be there, there was no warmth, no enthusiasm, and no effort to tell us about the wines or the property. Even the pours seemed careless. I know this is Gilroy and not Napa, but I still expected a welcoming experience and better wine service. Unfortunately, both the service and the wine itself were disappointing. The best part of this place was definitely the beautiful grounds, which would make a gorgeous wedding setting. Maybe this place is better suited as an event venue than a wine tasting destination, but based on my experience, I would not return. The two stars are for the beautiful grounds.

We started with Sangria (both red and white) and tho I like the white a bit more, both are really good. We also had the "a little bit of both" share charcuterie, and that was much more than expected! Not fancy, but 2 cheeses, 2 meats, assorted nuts, olives (have pits be safe!) and grapes with a few slices of a nice crusty bread and these really good large cracker type bread that was just perfect to have with our sangrias. We sat outside while a great local band played, the heaters were perfectly warm, nice string lights, and a good atmosphere. We also ordered a coffee and a beer later on, but I forget what kind of beer. Was good, I just don't recall the beer or ale. Staff was pretty attentive most of the time. The reason for not 5 stars: while I was in the industry for almost 50 years, our server seemed to get bored with us at some point and we had to flag her down. It was busy so I understand but the attitude changed a bit. Also, we wanted an item on the menu from The website and it wasn't available as the website wasn't updated. Minor issue, but the server seemed annoyed. Next time I keep the menus so that doesn't happen again. Still, totally worth the visit and since I live in the area now I would love to become a regular! Next time I want to try the flatbread

It was pretty quiet when we went (only one other group outside at 1pm on a Saturday). The vibes are very chill--we came in through the side entrance and grabbed a spot in the back. There are plenty of tables and chairs available, most with umbrellas for shade; there seems to be a few tables with built in fire pits as well. There was also a stage in the back for live music, which would have been awesome to enjoy with some cold wine on a hot day. The inside area is nice, bright, quiet, and clean. They have TVs for sports, news, etc. There are a bunch of open seats and bar area with additional seating. There is a solid selection of beverages, including lots of wine and flights. Reds, whites, rosé, sparkling, and more. They also do dessert wines and bubbly cocktails! You can order most things by the glass, or full bottle. If you're not into wine, they also have a selection of beer, ciders, and non-alcoholic options! We had just had a big meal so didn't get any food, however they had a solid menu featuring items like flatbreads, sandwiches, tacos, salads, Mediterranean dishes, crostinis, and of course cheese and charcuterie plates. The woman working was friendly and helpful with answering questions and making sure we were taken care of. This is definitely a cute and fun spot to grab a drink, or whole bottle to share. I look forward to coming back and trying their food, while listening to some live music! IG: @bbnem.eats
