A friend of mine recently ate here and loved it, so I thought we should stop by for lunch today and try it out. They are located on Monterey road in the Creekside Plaza. There is parking right in front of the restaurant. We noticed the specials they were offering on a board out front of the restaurant. We were warmly welcomed by the staff upon entering. Since the place was empty, we got to pick where we wanted to sit. It soon got busy after we arrived. There are many tables for seating. The walls are decorated with replicas of swordfish and other types of large fish. Menus were already on our table. Our waiter took our drink order. I ordered iced tea but didn't like how it tasted. I asked for Diet Coke instead and they had no issues with that. For our lunch, I ordered the fish & chips with 1 piece of fish and a cup of clam chowder, and fries combo. My husband wanted to order the halibut, which was their special of the day, but they were out of the halibut. He ordered the grilled salmon instead and it came with two sides. For the sides he chose steamed vegetables and coleslaw. He also ordered a pint of clam chowder. We ordered the cheesy crab bread for an appetizer. Our soups came out first. The clam shower was just okay. Not the best I've had. It was super thick and very mild in flavor. The cheesy crab bread came out next. The bread needed to be toasted more. The bread was warm but the crab on top was ice cold and I didn't taste any cheese in this. It was just okay. I probably wouldn't order it again. Our entrees came out next. I think the start of the show here, for both of us, was the fish. My husband loved his Salomon. It came with three good size pieces and was very filling. My fish & chips were amazing. The batter they used on the fish was so crispy and delicious. I'd say that's one of the best fish & chips I've ever had. Their tartar sauce was also very good. I don't usually like tartar sauce but I liked theirs. Customer service here was excellent as well. The staff were so nice. Actually everyone in that restaurant was nice including the other customers. It's definitely a small town vibe there and I really love that. Overall, I'd say the fish is what stood out for me. If you're looking for great crispy Fish & Chips, this is the place. We will definitely be back again for the fish.

Had a late lunch here at the Morgan Hill location today with my mom. I've eaten at their downtown San Jose location several times and enjoyed it. The restaurant is in a strip mall. We had no trouble finding a parking spot at 2pm on a Saturday. The restaurant was fairly busy, but there were quite a few tables available. We were greeted and seated immediately upon arriving. The server took our drink and food orders without delay. I had the tilapia with mashed potatoes and coleslaw and a pink lemonade. My mom had the two-piece fish and chips and iced tea. I wish I could say I loved the food, but it wasn't great. The tilapia was overcooked. The mashed potatoes were served in the shape of a patty that was brown and crispy on the outside. I've never seen mashed potatoes served that way and didn't care for it. However, the coleslaw was very good and so was the pink lemonade. My mom loved her fish & chips. The pieces of fish were huge and she ended up taking home leftovers. I gave this restaurant four stars in spite of not liking my food because the service was excellent and so was my mom's food. If I go back I will try something different.

Service was great. Atmosphere was relaxed. Oysters tasted fresh. They left pieces of shell when they shucked them, very inconvenient, but the oysters were good.

Do not sleep on this joint. I know this sounds highly sus to order but their Cheesy Bread appetizer and their Chicken Fettuccine with Alfredo sauce are my go-to dishes here. I've had their fish and chips which are also excellent! The service is fast and the quality of food is fairly consistent the many times I've come to The City Fish. The only dish that I would unfortunately recommend to shy away from is their clam chowder; save your cravings for the Monterey wharf or Pismo Beach. This is a solid joint and the staff is very friendly!

I was in morgan hill and decided to try some fish and chips and clam chowder. The clam chowder was very creamy and delicious. I wanted to order more actually but remembered i got the fish and chips coming. The fish was fried nicely, crispy and overall great. The french fries or chips were decent. The interior was nice and cozy. The server was nice and attentive. They have a few TVs that were playing the football game so that was great. Plenty spots to park. If i am in the area and craving some fish, would definitely come back.

I ordered a one piece fish $12 on the menu, they charged 12.48$. A 1% non-cash transaction is .12 cents, then they tax the transaction fee rather than after. What a bad business practice!

For someone who loves seafood, this is a good place to check out. All the dishes we ordered tastes so good that we will definitely going back to try the other dishes. The calamari is not so oily compared to the other calamari I've tried and the breading is not thick so you can definitely enjoy the dish. The fish tacos were fulfilling for its price. I wish there's more fish in it than the veggies but it's still good. The 4 prawns and 4 scallops combo were good too. The breading is thick like for tempura which mentioned on the menu. They really give you 4 pieces of prawns and 4 pieces of scallops. We ended up having 5 breaded scallops because 2 of them were halves. The green and black mussels tastes good and its size were medium to large so it's worth it. We went to other restaurants that have something similar and it's usually on a smaller end. The service was good. They come and checked on us twice if we're doing okay. In addition, they made sure that they removed some plates to make room in our table. This restaurant is good for casual hangouts. The vibe is like Boiling Crab/ Wing Stop with how much space they have but also the tvs they have around the restaurant.

Tried this place for the first time and boy was I impressed! Great service and vibe. You can see them cooking the food and smells great across the board. Well priced and love supporting local businesses. Well worth a try and can't wait to try other items on the menu!

OK fish n' chips. I kept hearing City Fish had amazing fish n' chips but it was for the Cupertino location. We happened to be in Morgan Hill and I was excited to find they had a branch here. They are located in a large plaza with plenty of parking, they are street facing and easy to spot for first timers. The interior is decorated in a fisherman nautical theme and it made me think of The City Fish Co in Seattle. I think the reason why I thought it was OK is I'm a big fan of British style, they use different batter and fish and the potatoes are cooked differently. This place I would call American style. Combos were OK, fish was well cooked and fresh but not the type we were looking for and each piece was also small, almost like a large fishstick. The fries were overcooked and some were turning brown with a very light starting to burn taste. We got the clam chowder with one combo and it was very watery with very little clams and potatoes. Fresh oysters were great, I believe they were blue points.

Great place! The service is always top notch here. There have so much selections and portions are big. We have to come back to try other dishes. Food tastes great and price isn't too pricey!

Since they have outdoor seating according to the amenities on Yelp, Are they dog friendly?

I think they ignore it. I saw a dog there today but it was tiny, maybe 6 pounds. They might notice a huge scary looking dog.

How is the fish n chips prepared? Are the “chips” made like steak fries or crinkle cut fries? Are thry known for their Fish n chip or for something else?

More like steak fries. The fish and chips were wonderful!

I'd say the time estimate was pretty accurate. The sandwich itself was pretty good. I was expecting a classic pesto sandwich with turkey breast and a light aioli, but it was sliced deli turkey and a generous amount of pesto aioli. I really enjoyed it. My only complaint was that they just threw my pickle in the plastic bag lol. I still ate it, but I didn't love that it wasn't wrapped. I'll be back to try more of their sandwiches.

Coming from Westminster in the OC then moving to San Jose, those two areas I was always around viet food so coming to this place I tried to give it some leeway since I know since moving to Morgan hill there is not many places to gather Vietnamese ingredients to cook at home The banh mi itself needs work. The baguette came out pretty dry. For their selection, it seems like they try to add multiple variations of banh mi meats into one rather than the way other banh mi places do specific meats per each sandwich. (Thịt nướng , chả lụa, heo quay) The pate and mayonnaise were lacking. The đồ chua or picked daikon and carrots were kind of lackluster. That being said it seems like one of the few places to get banh mi in Morgan hill, I do feel that they should not be charging such premium price for their sandwiches. When he visited his parents recently they had talked about MoHi and when they visited downtown, he saw the restaurant and automatically knew we needed to try it. We travel everywhere with our dogs and he found out that they had a dog friendly patio. A few months later, we were in town and decided to try it for breakfast. There were not a lot of reviews or pictures of breakfast so he made it a point to order some items recommended by our server, Ty - who was phenomenal by the way. Always checked in on us and even complimented how nice and chill our doggy was. We ordered a vanilla latte, orange juice, the breakfast pizza, and the eggs Benedict. The breakfast pizza came highly recommended by Ty. On paper it sounded delicious, but we were still reluctant, because a breakfast pizza? It was delicious, lol. They have a sauce on there that is very similar to what In-N-Out uses and the farm fresh eggs and cheese brought everything together. I decided to try the eggs benedict because the English muffin is scratch-made. The benedict was savory with confit potatoes and fruit. The only thing that threw me off was the fresh fruit was tossed in a pesto dressing. I can definitely do sweet and savory, and all the other weird, eclectic mixes, but this one was just too different for me. The orange juice was a highlight because they literally squeeze it right in front of you at the bar. They have other mixes that they can do as well like orange carrot or orange strawberry. So make sure you ask what is on the menu for fresh squeezed fruits because this one you don't wanna miss Outside there are at least 20 tables with dog friendly written all over the patio area. They have water bowls, turf, and even a cute little fire hydrant. There was a doggy on the patio already who was well-behaved. Overall, we'd be back to try the rest of the breakfast menu!

They also apparently own a theater, mansion, ranch, and an upcoming complex that will include housing, shops, and more restaurants. The Good: * Several free lots and free street parking * Catering available * Outdoor dog-friendly seating * They also have a bakery and café available if you're just looking for a light morning breakfast. * Service was friendly but stretched very thin during both our visits as the servers were working more tables than they should've been. * Overall, their pricing is very fair for the quality of the food. * Local beers on tap, as well as a large wine menu. * Wood-fired pizza oven. I didn't try the pizza, but my son wolfed it down. * Carissa loved her brunch Short Rib Fried Rice bowl, especially all the perfectly cooked butternut squash. * Tempura broccoli was fantastic. I loved that they served this instead of the ubiquitous fries to go with the burgers. The Meh: * I don't know why they can't have a menu on their website? The only way to view what's available is you have to pretend you're making an order. * The Brunch Loco Moco was just okay; the hamburger was a bit overcooked for my liking. Otherwise, the egg, rice, and gravy were delicious. * Their burger-to-bun-to-topping ratio is not good. It's mostly that their buns are much, much too thick for the tiny smashburger patties, and the whole thing ate very dry despite all the cheese. I did enjoy the crispiness of the bacon, though. * The salmon in the Roasted Salmon Bowl was also overcooked, and the amount of salmon for the price point wasn't really worth it, in our opinion. The Ugly: * Vegetarian Farm Spring Rolls were pretty bad, if I'm being honest. The only reason we wolfed them down was we had just arrived after a long 5+mile hike and were starving. The ricepaper skin was tough and leathery, and the filling wasn't very substantial. The sauce also needed to be thicker to stick to the rolls. * Parking can be a bit of a hassle, especially if you arrive during the nearby farmers market (Sat 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.), as they are located in the large parking lot on Depot St. Conclusion: Overall, we had very high hopes for this place, as this is the type of place we usually love. However, even after two visits, we just don't see ourselves coming back for another visit anytime soon.
