5-Star Review for OD's Kitchen in Gilroy I finally made it…read moreto OD's Kitchen in downtown Gilroy, and wow--what a fantastic spot for breakfast! This place lives up to all the hype as one of the best breakfast joints in the area, with huge portions, friendly service, and that cozy local vibe. I started with the chocolate cream drink (their rich, creamy hot chocolate or chocolate milk variation--whatever it exactly is, it's indulgent!). It was perfectly sweet without being overpowering, super smooth and velvety, topped just right. If you're a chocolate lover, this hits the spot and pairs amazingly with breakfast. Not too heavy, but definitely satisfying. For my main, I went with the famous Rosebud breakfast, and I can see why it's a favorite for so many people. It's a hearty, loaded plate with eggs, meats, potatoes, and all the classic fixings done exceptionally well. Everything was cooked perfectly--fluffy eggs, crispy edges where needed, and those fresh country potatoes were addictive. The portions are generous; I couldn't finish it all and definitely didn't need lunch afterward! The staff was quick, welcoming, and the place was buzzing with locals. If you're in Gilroy and craving a solid, no-fuss breakfast with standout items like the Rosebud and a great chocolate drink, OD's Kitchen is a must-visit. Highly recommend--I'll be back soon! 5/5 stars

I can say, without hesitation, that this was the second worst Chicken Fried Steak I've ever had in my life. The breading completely came off the steak. The steak was thin and WAY over cooked. It was tougher than shoe leather. I could barely cut it with the steak knife, and it gave my jaw a helluva workout trying to chew that thing. And the gravy was terrible. So thin, I could see the steak right through it. It looked like a glazed donut. That's how thin the gravy was. Then, I asked for EXTRA crispy hash browns. They weren't even regular crispy, let alone EXTRA crispy. The eggs and the English muffin were fine. It's hard to mess up those things. The service was fine, but the kitchen COMPLETELY dropped the ball. I drove all the way from Santa Clara, thinking about the great CFS they used to have. Wasting all that gas, for one of the worst breakfasts I've had in a long, long time. smh

We did dinner, drinks, and a little bowling and had the best time. The vibe is upbeat and modern, and the food honestly exceeded our expectations. We shared the meat lovers pizza, a burger, and the southwest egg rolls. Everything came out hot and fresh. The burger was cooked perfectly and the pizza was delicious. Mike stopped by to introduce himself, which was such a nice touch. You can tell he genuinely cares about the place and the experience. We'll definitely be back next time we're in the mood for a fun night out!

I had to put my ball back in my bag and use the house balls and roll like a kid to get my moneys worth. For $40 an hour for a solo bowler on a Tuesday, being the ONLY bowler in the building is absurd. Don't want to absolutely rip the place, but for a regular bowler with expectations, this place is not for you. BUT, it is very clean and the staff was all very nice(except for the owner giving his trainee weird attitude for asking for help ringing me up). The vibe is upscale and is probably very fun for the average bowler looking for a good time. Comfy couches and good drinks, probably a great place to have a gathering or meet up friends.

The green pozole was phenomenal!!!! Service was amazing as well, the busser was on top of it. I was here on a Sunday evening for a volunteer appreciation dinner…read more I got there around 6pm and there was no parking on the street, I had to go down the block and park in a parking lot. The area tends to be a bit dark but I did not feel unsafe. The restaurant itself is on the Main Street and has ample outside and inside seating. Our group was in the back and we had the area to ourselves. There is large bar with 2 TVs playing games. I did not try drinks from the bar because those were provided by the group I was part off but the staff were helpful and attentive. We also did not order from the menu but had a buffet - small pieces of bread, butter, salad, mashed potatoes, pasta with shrimp, skirt steak and chicken. Unfortunately no dessert. The food was good, especially the skirt steak. The reason for the 4 starts is that nothing really stood out in the menu where I wanted to go back. The place was not very crowded, at the bar or tables. Maybe 3-4 tables were filled. The decor was warm and inviting with mostly wood on the walls and bar. The area was surprisingly quiet for a Sunday evening. The restaurant is definitely worth a try!

We arrived on a Saturday early evening for dinner recently. Old City Hall Restaurant is located in a nice area in beautiful downtown Gilroy. Parking is accessible along the streets. The restaurant use to serve as Gilroy's old courthouse and jail. It has been transformed into a majestic and historic restaurant building. The decor is modern and traditional. Plenty of tables are available for dine in downstairs. There is a full bar with plenty of bar stools. The lovely patio looks inviting and spacious. Unfortunately I was not able to see the upstairs dining area. We ordered a Chicken Cordon Bleu with a Caesar salad and baked potato, Scallops and Prawns with a house salad and coleslaw, crème brûlée, and a couple of happy hour drinks of local IPA and house Chardonnay. Everything was delicious. My Chicken Cordon Bleu was flavorful and the combination of the cream sauce, cheese, ham, and chicken all went well together. The wifey said her Scallops and Prawns was scrumptious and the tropical salsa was a delightful complement. Her only gripe was that the portions did not match the price point of the dish. The crème brûlée was delectable and the perfect dessert to complement a wonderful 3 course meal. Overall we enjoyed our experience at Old City Hall Restaurant. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The vibe was bustling and inviting. Daily happy hour is always a nice touch. We will come back to try other dishes especially the burgers.

Coffee was mediocre at best. Despite my request to make sure the French toast wasn't dry, it was the worst, most awful dry crap I've ever had. No amount of syrup could fix what was essentially two slabs of desert sand with a crust. My dining companion, on the other hand, enjoyed her vegetarian eggs Benedict. I paid $50 for a breakfast that was worth $20 max. Never going back.
