I've been here plenty of times but honestly don't know why i haven't left a review. I visited over the weekend and it was the best decision. They have outdoor seating which feels amazing to get fresh air. The line was long but it was helpful to have the register open and also a girl on the side taking orders. This place has really grown on me. I've never been a fan of basic 'meat' restaurants but after going several times I've now learned what to order. The ordering has become easier, the outdoor seating was much needed, and new employees are a pleasant surprise! They so great for school fundraisers, and honor students gift certificates for free meals, coordinated by our school for students that earned some type recognition award. Everyone leaves happy here. Not a big fan of sweet bbq ribs I'm more of a smoky/spicy bbq person. I did feel the brown sugar on the ribs not a fan. The chicken was undercooked still pink sadly I end up feeding it to the dog. Tri-tip was okay a bit tough and dry I had to smother it in barbecue sauce. Beans are a no go too sweet nothing special just plain beans no meat sad. Would recommend mashed potatoes/fries. Stopped by on a Monday for take out. Ordered pulled pork sandwich for lunch and got a brisket dinner for later. For sides I got coleslaw with the pork, garlic bread and beans with the brisket. I love that they have the option of spicy bbq sauce, as I like spicy. I also got a bottled root beer, which they have in addition to fountain drinks, juice and water. I love the quality of meat and the good smokiness they achieve. The pork had a true smoked bbq flavor and texture, with some crunchy bits mixed in, which I love. The brisket was well cooked and had a great smoke to it as well. I did find the pork a bit dry, and they give you a spicy vinegar sauce with it as well as bbq sauce, which I found was needed, as the sandwich is bread and meat with no other toppings. The portion of pork was generous, so it's a filing sandwich. The brisket had some stringy bits that made it hard to cut with a fork but was delicious and you get three large slices. The coleslaw is slightly sweet and is only cabbage and sauce. The beans were very tasty and well cooked. The garlic bread was standard, but a nice big piece that heated up well, as did the beans and brisket when I reheated them all for dinner. It was during the stay at home order and it was easy to order by phone and pick up at their outdoor window. They have a dedicated parking lot, so I was able to order from my car and pick up about 10 mins later. I do wish the would create a mobile-phone friendly menu on the website. I went to the website and it downloads a menu designed for print that is hard to use on a phone. Make the menu a mobile friendly web page! The server was wonderful during the phone order and at pickup, she was masked and they have touchless pay. Order was exactly right. It was a bonus that they could have the restroom open. Overall very happy with the authentically smoked meats, the generous portions, the tasty sides and the spicy sauce. Definitely a winner for me. read more

We stopped at this place on our way up to S.F. In general, I don't eat meat but I was with someone who loves brisket so, when I agreed to let him get his fix, I was hoping they'd have something non-meaty to eat. Yes, there are salads but hearing from my companion about how brisket is cooked and how delicious it is, yada yada yada, I decided to abandon my meat-free life for 30 minutes or so of meaty goodness. Even during the carnivore portion of my life, I somehow missed out on the heavenly experience of eating brisket so, when I say this was the best brisket I've ever eaten, that doesn't hold much weight. However, my companion insisted it was the best he'd ever had so it has that going for it. It's been 3 days and I am still reflecting on the brisket with much fondness. Okay, the cons of this place is that the sides are meh. The cornbread was missing something. I soon realized it was the flavor. Even with the butter and honey that it's served with, it was just awful. Either the butter and honey were bad or the cornbread was so horrible that it just sucked the flavor out of the honey and butter. The coleslaw was just okay. Craving BBQ during a Gilroy Outlet excursion we decided to revisit an old favorite, BBQ 152. They have ample and comfortable outdoor seating but it was a warm day so we opted to sit inside in air conditioned comfort. My wife and I split a full rack of pork ribs meal with coleslaw and beans. The food was every bit as good as I remember. Fall off the bone, smokey, succulent, rich flavored pork that I ate without sauce but my wife enjoyed with their house spicy bbq sauce. The beans were perfectly cooked BBQ beans and coleslaw. I hate it when coleslaw is warm and dripping with dressing. I was happy to find BBQ 152s coleslaw cold, creamy, crunchy and lightly dressed. We will move BBQ 152 back on the short list. read more

We're from Monterey County and was in town and we were on our way to look for sushi place or tacos and ended up driving by this barbecue joint. It was a beautiful day outside. There were people outside and you could see talking laughing, enjoying some food and drinks. So we made a U-turn and decided to check it out and that was last week and we haven't stopped thinking about it since. I've never had a tri-tip sandwich so tender that I can cut it with a butter knife. The meat was cooked perfectly. And I don't know what kind of bread they use, but the whole experience was worth every penny. I did read someone else's review about it being expensive.... Not true!!! it's the same price we go anywhere to pay for average barbecue this place is above average. Hats off to the guy who cooked the meat!! read more

My wife and I had a chance to check this place out on Friday. The reviews were true. We ordered Tri tip, ends, and pulled pork. They were all very good. My only comment was the ends were more sauce then ends. They were really good, but I really wish I could have had the sauce on the side. I only add BBQ sauce to meat if it can't stand on it's own. These could. We also have macNCheese, coleslaw and potatoe salad. The slaw and mac were excellent and the potatoe was ok. The endless fountain soda was also a plus. We both realized that we ordered and ate way too much food. Next time we will split a plate instead. Also, the MUSIC was perfect. They found how to have soothing "background" music instead of blasting music like many places do. All in all a very well run and efficient place to eat. It was clean, and well layed out. BBQ 152 is probably one of my favorite bbq places in the area. Whenever we're around the outlets and we get hungry, it's the first place I think about. Let's start with my favorite- their bbq sauce. YUM, I love their sauce! Both regular and spicy are really good and you better believe I always want extra on the side. My favorite items are the ribs and brisket! The ribs are tender but not quite fall-off-the bone and the brisket has a good balance between meaty and fatty- I can't tell you how much I hate dry brisket. We tried their chicken kids meal for babygirl and it was actually good too, not dry! The not so great things about this place are no fries as a side?? The potato salad (my second option at bbq places) is ok. The "garlic bread" is nothing special, I wish it was more buttery and garlicky! I don't care for the beans or coleslaw. However, I'll still keep coming here for the meats and bbq sauce :) read more

So look, you can't just bank on being a BBQ place and that be enough. My fiance and I had a $70 lunch for two, a brisket sandwich a salad with tri tip and a half Lb of burnt ends. Flavors were great. But the half pound of burnt ends had 3-4 pieces of full fat, and the brisket sandwich had about 20% fat. Feels like the quality control is down or you are just banking on people wanting to eat huge chunks of fat. Again, flavors are on point, all cooked well... but not worth going again. read more

Wow.. this place was expensive! We paid $46 for 1/2 rack rib meal and the 3 meat meal. Both meals came with 2 sides, but the portions were smaller than we expected. We came on a Saturday afternoon around 2pm and it wasn't busy. When you get out of the car, you know you're at a BBQ spot. Our favorite meat was the 1/2 rack rib, the meat was soft and it fell off the bone. The sauce was also tasty. I got garlic bread and coleslaw was my side. The garlic bread was decent, coleslaw was meh. It didn't taste anything like a coleslaw, it was just chopped lettuce and watery sauce. My bf got the 3 meat meal and he picked chicken, tri-tip, and pulled pork. He didn't see there was brisket so we missed out on that. Out of all the meats he got, my favorite was the tri-tip but it tasted bland. My bf thought the pulled pork was alright and the chicken was eh. Most of his meats were pretty dry, a little disappointed. His sides were coleslaw and beans. Coleslaw, again, wasn't great but the beans were good. My go-to BBQ meat is brisket so lucky for me on my first visit to BBQ 152 brisket was featured as a special. Since this was written on the chalkboard, I think this isn't a regularly feature meat since i didn't see it on the menu either. With my brisket i also ordered some ribs and chose cole slaw and potato salad as my sides. The gf chose the pulled pork sandwich. Wow the meats had really good flavor with a nice smoke ring. The meat on the ribs were tender enough where I could suck the meat right off the bone. The gf's sandwich was great as well with the bun having a nice crisp texture. They have a nice sauce station with only 2 choices: spicy or non-spicy, both delicious. The cole slaw was totally blah--simply chopped cabbage with dressing. The potato salad was average but at least you got a nice heaping cup. The winner was definitely the garlic bread which was toasted exactly like the pulled pork sandwich. Is this place as good as BBQ in Texas? Hale naw it aint even close but i'll tell you what Yankee....it's good enough for you City slicker! For the sides we got potato salad for him and a baked potato for me. They also give you a yummy piece of garlic bread. All the meat including the ribs were tender and juicy. I saw some reviews that the ribs were hit and miss and I don't normally order them because I'm pretty picky, but when I saw how tender they looked, I had to try. Yum. The baked potato was humongous and I only ate half of it. He said the potato salad was good too. Would def come back here and wish they were local to us. Better than the bbq we find near home.
