Fishermen's Terminal is a cool area that I would visit just to see the sights. So it was a bonus that there was a nice breakfast joint there. Pretty standard breakfast offerings that are quite tasty. The service wasn't overly friendly or helpful, which was kind of a downer, but the food was worth the visit. read more

Better than your average local café style food. Great seasoned staff, nice view, and decent prices. Not well known, but a good choice for locals and travelers alike. read more

If you like benedicts, come here... also the hash brown comes in generous portions.

Greasy spoon with a view! This spot offers diner style breakfasts that are not as gourmet as their next door neighbor (chinooks), but will a leave you feeling full. The service at the counter is on top of coffee refills and the food arrived in no time at all. The view of fishermans terminal makes the higher than average prices worth it. read more

John and I went here before heading for a wonderful day at Discovery Park. I hadn't been here before and I was pleasantly surprised. It was exactly what we wanted... Big portions, coffee always filled, a fantastic waitress (who was super cute and playful), and a view of the water. It was busy for a Sunday morning but we didn't wait at all before seating. We both got one of the breakfast combos. I got pancakes and John got french toast. They were both great. We just wanted an easy breakfast before we spent the day walking and enjoying the sunshine. It is a diner and it has that feel. The lady at the counter complimented me on my beaded wallet and we shared a little moment. I would have to say not bad at all. read more

Great food with a fantastic view of Fisherman`s Terminal.

We like the Bay Cafe quite a bit. The view of the water is always nice and the food is pretty good. The woman who seats you at the front door seems a little cold sometimes, but I'm sure that it is probably taxing to deal with the crowds & cranky fisherman on the weekend mornings. The service is usually pretty good, but can also be kinda hit or miss, even when it is on the slower side there. There is one Latina lady that we love because she is always so warm, smiley, and friendly. We tend to stick to the breakfast menu though, as I've never been too impressed with any of the lunch items I've ordered, except for the tuna melt & grilled cheese. read more

Great food, good atmosphere, friendly service. A nice change from the often too pretentious aura surrounding the restaurant scene in Seattle. Enjoyed my country fried steak and eggs very much. read more

My review really has to start with a phone call. I called to ask if they stopped serving breakfast at some point during the day. The woman who answered the phone had trouble understanding me. I repeated myself. She mumbled something completely unintelligible, and hung up on me. Ok. Service was surly, food was ok but nothing special. Probably wouldn't go back. read more

I was so underwhelmed by this place which was so disappointing since I had heard good things. The waffles were just ok, the syrup wasn't real, and I had to ask twice for a coffee refill and never got one. It wasn't even crowded and yet we were all but ignored by the waitress. It is also way overpriced for food you could get done better at IHOP. read more

The location is pretty cool, right on the Fisherman's Terminal. I was hoping for a huge portion of hearty breakfast food. What I got was average in every way. I don't see the point of eating here when there are so many great breakfast spots nearby. For example, The Salmon Bay Cafe is right across the bay, in Ballard, and its better in every way. read more

This is where we go when we have time off and want to celebrate with a breakfast out. The view, the view, the view; the prices; the food; the service. We even discovered they have great homeade salad dressings. My daughter was not in the mood for breakfast. The lunch menu seems good but we always go for breakfast. Shhhh don't tell anyone we usually can get a table here without too much of a wait on a weekend. Breakfast is offered all day but this is only a breakfast and lunch place. It is not fancy but sometimes you do not want fancy you just want to enjoy living in the best city ever. read more

Great family brunch place! Great kids menu! If you have two children they could easily share one of the kids meals. Corned beef hash is Amazing! Service is alright there have been a number of times half the food was delivered cold and the other half quite a while later. Great views and a generally nice atmosphere. I'm giving a 3 star review because on almost every visit we were charged for things we didn't order. Or secretly up charged without the new prices being on the menu. That's just poor business. However when the food is hot its good! read more

Yum yum yum...I love breakfast and this cafe hit the spot. It wasn't trendy or pretentious like some other brunchy places are. They had a lot of specialty omelets that the crew I was with had. Service was great and food was super tasty. read more

Hidden gem. Waitresses have been there forever & treat you like family. Food appears in no time (although avoid after 9:00 or 9:30 on Sat/Sun). Great spot to enjoy when they open at 7:00. read more

Service is very bad. Hostess ignored us. After our breakfast was served our server never once came back during our entire time, so I couldn't tell her the eggs are under cooked (ordered over easy) and could she please cook them a little more. When we finally did get her attention we were finished eating. I commented that I couldn't eat the eggs as they were under cooked (whites were hardly cooked at all, very runny). She commented "well next time honey you need to order over medium" with an attitude. I wanted to reply with, over easy is whites cooked, yolks runny, but by this time we were done. read more

Always friendly staff who remembers us, yummy coffee, delicious seafood breakfasts/brunches and a wonderful view. What more could we ask for. The spinach seafood benedict is fantastic as are salmon salads. My wife says the fried oysters are to die for! read more

We hemmed and hawed about where to have breakfast this morning before visiting Discovery Park for a walk. Finally we settled on the Bay Cafe. Got there about 9, were promptly seated and given fresh coffee (good) and menus. Waitress took a while to check back, but was helpful and friendly. We ordered a Greek omelet with fruit instead of hashbrowns, a side of bacon (crispy, please) and a side of toast. Took a while to get served, but when it came, all was fine. Omelet was very big and easily split between the two of us, the bacon was five large thick stripes crispy enough to shatter if dropped. All in all was a nice breakfast at a decent price. Including $4 tip, total was $24. Good location with lots of free parking. read more

If you want a basic sit down breakfast nook where the fishermen eat, this is your place. I always get the Eggs Benedict and it really is a can't miss. However, their French Toast and Biscuits and Gravy are killer. Sometimes there is a bit of a wait, but usually the food makes up for it, especially for the price! read more

Right in Fisherman's Terminal. Great view of the boats. Good food and fun staff. Lots of parking. Highly recommended

My favorite cafe in Seattle, and the House Omlete is my favorite dish. Only open for breakfast and lunch. Consistently good food.

I got a recommendation for this place while looking for a breakfast spot near Ballard. What a hit! The food was delicious. We had omelets with smoked salmon (yuuum) and a special with grilled fish, which came with eggs and hash browns. Only in Seattle can you order eggs with fish. Both dishes were super yummy. And the waitress was so nice! She always had a smile on her face, and not one of those fake smiles that disappears as soon as she walks away, but she was genuinely having a good morning and passing it on to all the patrons. I will be back. read more

Bay Cafe is "the sure thing"! We love having breakfast there, the food is good, the service is good, and you know exactly what you'll get, always. It is the great American restaurant that keeps all he good traditions. The view of the fisherman's terminal and the boats is wonderful, nice walk after a satisfying meal :) read more

Diner food. Some choices are better than others, true, but the food is homemade and the fish couldn't be any fresher if they cooked it for you on the beach. Man the vibes. Come down on an mizzling morning, brood over your endlessly hot coffee while staring down the docks. Listen to the fishermen talk about their boats, their nets, their catches, the day they fell over board, big storms, big fish, and last night at the casino. Listen to the bankers, the brokers, port authorities, and maritime lawyers talking shop. Ponder your own constitution for beer and tomato juice at 6 am and add a normal sized glass grapefruit juice to your order. Dream of getting a boat and writing a book. You won't be the first, but you won't be the last either. Some long simmered oatmeal, grainy buttered toast with blackberry jam and bacon? Salmon scrambles, omelets and benedicts. Lunchy specials, pan fried oysters, homemade chowder. Halibut and eggs. Order a burger if you must, but seriously-Halibut and eggs! How good is your life that you don't need some of that? Seattle. That is where you are. Live the life. read more

Reliably good breakfast food, and wonderful friendly staff. The soups are always homemade and delicious too!

Great setting and great food - fisherman style. Had the Benedict Halibut that came with fruit and hash browns. Mix the great flavors with the beautiful view of the moored fishing fleet and you have a distinctive memory of the Ballard area. read more

The corned beef hash is the standard by which all others should be measured. Made with real beef brisket, not that excuse for hash that some places pour out of a can. Mine came with 3 over easy eggs on top that made the whole skillet coagulate into the most tasty hash I've ever had. The only reason the review isn't 5-star is that the server had to be reminded to bring the hash browns, and the side of fruit never arrived. Other than that, really nice experience with friendly staff and a nice view of the marina. read more

Lots of fishermen eat here, and other old school Seattle people too. I used to get breakfast here with my dad a lot when I'd do odd jobs on his fishing boat. Well, it was breakfast for me anyway. The Bay Cafe serves conventional American/Seattle food. There's a big menu and everything is really good. No complaints. read more

This place is in Fisherman's Terminal. It is a fairly standard breakfast place with big portions. I recently discovered I have a sensitivity to whole eggs, and ordered egg beaters. "We don't have egg-beaters." "Okay, can I do egg whites then?" "No, we don't do egg whites" my response could have been "would you like me to go back and show the grill-man how to do just egg whites?" That was more than a little bit annoying. Although I have been many times before, this is my last trip or breakfast. I will order a sandwich next time. read more

3-stars for breakfast--the Benedict's are generous in portion, but the size does not make up for what's lacking in flavor. Same goes for the omelettes, waffles, etc. In fact, the breakfasts have left me feeling heavy and somewhat revolted afterwards--including this very moment (although over-imbibing on wine last night certainly doesn't help). On a positive note, always an enjoyable view of Fisherman's Terminal, and the service is good. Appears to be a bastion for blue hairs early in the morning. read more

This place is great and the view is amazing. I have been coming here for years but never yelped about it. In the last occasion I decided to go off the menu and the waitress was more than happy to oblige. I ordered an english muffin with egg cheese and smoked salmon, and side of chowder. After thinking for a moment longer I thought why not some gravy to top it all of. Needless to say it was amazing. So much so that i suggested it be added to the menu. Time will tell if that happens. Either was it was great and I look forward to my next visit here. read more

His place a great spot to grab some breakfast and the owner Pete is a solid dude. Would recommend for anyone in the Interbay area

A basic diner. Good food. Always busy. Nice view of the water.

Decent food, horrible service. We waited about 15 or 20 minutes before we were approached by our waitress, Darlene. In that time we watched her wait on two other tables who had come in after us. She took our orders and we waited another 20 to 30 minutes for our food. She forgot part of a meal and said it was because the kitchen was so hot that she forgot. She tried to talk to us across the room, but it was loud so we couldn't hear her. Finally, we got our checks and after waiting about 10 minutes, we decided to pay at the cashier. Likely will not return, or if we do we will be sure to sit in the main area since the smaller rooms seem like they get far worse service. read more

Unpretentious, authentic and delicious. My husband usually gets one of the many benedicts, sister-in-law always gets the french toast...and I like the omelette. After breakfast we usually stroll along the fishing boats in the wharf. The one thing that I would recommend: bring your own coffee. read more

Great food, with a nice view. Not fussy at all, just a great breakfast spot.

Above average experience for a breakfast "diner." Always prompt service, plenty of coffee refills, and willing to make substitutions as needed. Been here for breakfast several times, and their omelette & scramble portions are generous, with a good amount of variety on the menu. Usually there are specials which include waffles/French toast topped with seasonal fruit. The prices are decent and we've never had to wait more than 5 minutes to be seated. Larger parties may want to call ahead. This used to be our "Plan B" if the wait at Chinooks was too long for brunch, but recently we've been opting to make this our first choice as this menu has more options, especially if you're gluten free. Gorgeous views of the boats in Fishermans terminal, worth the walk out to the memorial after your meal. read more

Is what it is with the diner feel and diner food. We were warned to keep it simple and not embrace any of the more funkier options. Subpar diner coffee though... read more

It might seem weird that I would rate a place a 3 out of 5 even though I eat there some what regularly, but what can a say about a place with decent average food, with varying levels of service, and a nice view of fishing boats. I like this place for breakfast and the omelets are pretty good, yet lunch isn't bad either. When in doubt try the wunderbird, I get it when I'm not feeling like anything in particular. read more
