I have been going to this hardware store for 23 years now and it is a great place to find a solution to a difficult little problem. The folks here are very informative and aim to please. What I really like about this place if that you can buy one part of a unique item such as a small screw or spring without having to purchase and entire package. I bought a showerhead from them and it is defective three weeks after I buy it, I have the receipt and took it back in there too exchange it with something else still giving them my business but they would not take it back because it was used. Then he said they only have a two week return policy. How does a company stay in business with such crappy return policy on defective parts. There are two types of homeowner's out there. People that have been to ACE and the poor folks that have only experienced Home Depots. The fact that this location has just about everything in a fifth of the footprint of your big stores is amazing but the best part is the staff. They are always quick to help and never seem bothered or rush you even though they are busy. We bought a house downtown a year ago and the house being 107 years old means I come here a lot. They only caveat is they aren't open as late as I would like but I'm not knocking off a star because I work late. That local hardware store also had excellent customer service with knowledgable employees. When I moved to Riverside, I thought I would never find a place like that again. I always prefer to shop local instead of big box stores. I purchased an inexpensive order online ($8.25) to be sent to this store. I picked it up and returned it 2 days later, never used. They refused to honor the 30 day return because I bought it online and had it shipped to their store. The receipt I received when I picked it up clearly states a 30 day return policy. ACE customer service was great, I can return it to the Moreno Valley store, but I will NEVER shop this store again. Unbelievable. Worst customer service ever. read more

I have gone back a few times to pick things up from this store even though there's a big box store closer to me. Every time I've been to this store, staff has always been very helpful. I am regular customer of Bauman's ACE at 3199 Kansas. People there have been very helpful and knowledgable of hardware. One of its associate named Abraham Meza has helped me many times. Abraham knows so much about hardware and its repairing. I told him what I needed to fix, and he just showed me what parts I needed and explained to me the steps to fix it. I find their prices higher than the Lowes and Depots, but their service is wonderful and they usually have the odd-ball parts, screws, bolts, etc. that I am looking for. But instead of being, for instance, in the lonely isles of Lowes or Home Depot where you start to wonder if anybody works there except the cashiers, at Ace there's usually somebody right there at the front door. If it's busy you might have to collar someone, but once you do, they show you exactly what you're looking for and where it is, often picking the things out of the bins or off the shelf as fast as I can describe what it is I'm looking for. read more

What a sheite hole. Why is it every time I go there no one asks to help me or says hello? Could it be because I'm, white? I just went there this afternoon and three workers were standing in the middle of the store and as I walked past them I said "Hi" and not one of them responded. The next customer behind me was a latino man and he was greeted and was helped without having to ask for it. This business has serious racial issues. I moved to the area 7 years ago and shop this store "often" as the store is 5 minutes from my house, customer service is excellent, and they always have what I need. Today I went in to "exchange" an impact sprinkler I purchased for $30, 5 days ago, with receipt, that was not working properly because it was missing a small spring (1st time I've asked for an exchange, and never a refund). The sales girl said I've have to speak with the manager, who was standing right behind me all along. He was a small man with dark hair and appeared very unfriendly. Creepy is a good description. After explaining to him why I was asking to exchange the sprinkler that was missing a part, he told me that you have to be extremely careful when using the sprinkler so that the small spring doesn't eject itself off. Nowhere on the box does it state that it must be used gently so the parts stay attached. In fact it came without instructions in "or " even on the box. He then questioned the fact that he could tell I had used it. Hello, unless I used it how would I know it didn't work? He finally agreed to exchange it but for this one and final time only. He then removed it from the box and handed it to me, keeping the box and my receipt.??? That, by far, is the worst customer service I've ever seen. Instead of providing quality products that he will stand behind, he would rather blame the customer ??? I just bought a house in the area and was looking for a local hardware store because I have many projects planned and I'm not a huge fan of Depot or Lowes. I chose this place because of the reviews. I walked in a was greeted with a hello. I asked if they carried wood dowels. She didn't know, but she yelled to a guy to show me where they were. He turned and pointed across the store and said "go in that room and look low to the left" and turned around and walked away. Not the greatest customer service, but I went looking in that room anyway. I did not find any wood dowels, only wood shims. I looked around that area and still could not find what I needed. So, I tried to get someone's attention with no luck. Then I went looking for someone to help me. There were three employees talking (it did look work related) and I tried to get their attention. No luck. I spoke up and verbally got their attention. I asked for some help and one of them said "in a minute" and turned back to their conversation. The overall experience was an example of the worst customer service I've experienced in quite some time. The bummer for this store is that I have many projects to complete at this new house and I have allotted $20K to complete them. I guess that money will go to a different hardware store.
