I went to this Ace today for the first time. A very kind and helpful employee by the name of Michael helped me right away. I got exactly what I was looking for and was out of the store in less than 5 minutes. This was SO appreciated after visiting so many places. I even got local bee pollen at the register. I specifically avoided the big box stores because of having to search for help and sometimes feeling like it's a nuisance to ask for their assistance. I'm so glad I came to this Ace and will definitely be back! read more

I came in mid day with a coconut soda in hand and a backpack full of engine parts in need of bolts. Right off the bad an elderly man behind the counter starts telling me off for having a backpack, telling me I can't have it in the store. Now I understand the rule, but I'm clearly here to buy some bolts and I've got the means to pay. The whole store is empty and I'll need someone with me anyway to find the right bolts! But like some autist this old bugger just tries to tell me to leave the pack, with the parts, out side?! Buddy I'm here to get matching bolts! read more

First time customer at this ACE Hardware. Big selection but some items have been sitting on their shelves for a few decades. lol I was greeted by an employee after roaming the aisles for a bit because he was helping an elderly couple. I don't like to be bothered shopping especially if it's a new store I've never shopped at. Prices are ok. Not sure if they are much higher than big box stores. Seems inline with the market. Observations: They have a decent camping aisle with lots of unique gadgets. They sell Traeger pellets and accessories including spices and rubs for BBQ. I saw some toilets and faucets. Not a huge selection but they carry those items. Lots of nails, bolts, and screws. I didn't see spray paint, but it may be locked up. I didn't see it by the paint section which I walked through tw This ACE is not in a fancy location, it's in an industrial part of Riverside. But you are in and out in a few minutes, so location doesn't bother me if it's during the day. read more

Oh how the mighty Baumans has fallen. I have been going here for at least 10 years, and have always found what I needed, and got the most part, had good service. That has all changed in the last year or two. Customer service has gone away, unless you speak Spanish. Those are the only customers that they will help, in this store. Today 3 of their so called employees were standing in the middle of the store, chatting with one man in Spanish, and not helping anyone else. I had to walk to the register to ask for help, and the woman there looked like I was really bothering her, and how dare I ask for help. I finally left, and just figured that Baumans must not need my money anymore. I have way better service at Home Depot, and they still appreciate their customers. I'm done with Baumans! read more

Well, Gee. Thought I'd give this place another try. Looking for light bulbs and other things (but only could find the light bulbs). Saw some bulbs that were right above a sign that said "Regularly $23.99 - Now $5.99!". OK, thought I'd give it a try. Went to the register where that "nice" old lady is, and told her the items were on sale, she just smirked, giggled, and said "oh, NOoooo." I told her about the sign, and she called someone to do a price check, and made me feel like an idiot. Their price check guy didn't even bother to look, just said I was wrong. "Old Nice Lady" at the register was now gleeful! SHE ENJOYS THIS! Went to Home Depot, found the same items for $4.99, regular price. Works great! Every time I forget why I stopped going to Bauman's (since 1992), I remember the moment I walk in. Aside from a decent selection of screws, everything else looks like dusty, cheap leftovers from the Carter vs. Reagan era--without the charm of cool vintage finds. Every once in a while, I need a random screw, so I make the trip. It's not just that the place is surrounded by sketchy activity--it's that the employees, especially the "manager" guy, treat you like you're the sketchy one. Like you're trying to scam them or steal a 49-cent screw. That's when it all comes back to me. Do yourself a favor and drive to the Ace on Van Buren instead. It's five times the size, with a way better selection, new inventory, friendly staff, and it's in a safe area. Plus, you're still supporting a small business. I could go on, but I'll leave it at this: if you're looking for a pack of smokes, a torch lighter, or a bicycle tube, you're in luck. Just remember--"All Sales Final." read more

Didn't accept my return, even though the items still had Ace tags on them and I'd bought them the week before. I even offered to have them look up the order on my card (which is standard in 2025), but they flat-out refused. I left the unused product there, which I'm sure they'll just resell. My message to the owners: loosen up your return policy. Sure, once in a while someone will take advantage, but if you don't show customers goodwill, you'll lose them. I won't be back, and I'll encourage my family to shop elsewhere. Negative reviews here and on Google are coming. The irony is this only pushes people like me to Home Depot or other big-box stores, which do look up purchases by card and are far more customer-friendly about returns. read more

If you ask them a question they get annoyed. There was someone who was trying to avoid me and acted like he was busy so he didn't have to help. I need to go back 1 more time but I'm sure this will be the last time I will ever be there. Horrible customer service and craftsmanship... brought a window screen to have them replicate it for 4 other screens .. when I took them to install they did not fit we noticed they were uneven .. took the screens back and they refused to fix the problem . Love a hardware store that's easy to find, has decent parking and has a store packed with whatever you need. Quick visit today for a tape measure...no fuss, in and out in less than 5 minutes. Okay maybe 10 but that's because it took me a minute or two to make a decision on the tape measure but definitely not more than 10 minutes. Lots of folks drop in for last minute needs...nice to see this place bustling with business. It seems everyone is tackling home improvement projects and "Honey Do" lists and the team here is supportive of all of them! I think I heard them answer 25 questions in the short time I was in the shop. Swift and friendly service - no idea if there are other hardware stores nearby, but it doesn't matter because Bauman's is all I need. read more

I bought on 1/4/22 an electrical adapter in it's package, looked like it been sitting a long time, turned out not needed, its a cheap piece, 120v - 30amp to 15amp, cost $13.99, never used it, they wouldn't take it back! Now I needed another type and found it at Richardsons RV, they say returns no problem and they quality is leaps and bounds beyond Ace, also nearly 1/2 as much on price. Ace is either Desperate, don't care about screwing thier customers or just bad business. I had no problem going out of my way to support this business before wasting to much time and money with them, when many would take this back, also they guy that made the call on no return just ignored me afterwards These people suck, overcharge and are rude. I never like going into this particular ace, because the employees are unhelpful at best. I just tried to return a ratchet strap that I bought only two hours prior, the lady at the counter acted as if she couldn't remember the purchase and told me that they couldn't return it because the packaging was opened even though this is how they sold it to me. Abraham the manager was called over just to reconfirm that they could not refund me my $10 because of the packaging, and was so rude about it that a customer felt bad enough for me that he offered to buy the ratchet strap off me just to resolve the situation. Ace is the place! For the helpful hardware man and woman. Do you want to buy one or two screws? Go straight to university avenue on most nights. Jk. Unlike the notorious big box stores, you know the ones, Lowe[red] Standards and Home Dipstick? Well, you not only get greeted almost immediately, the employee will always take you straight to the section required and assist you in the old fashioned way. This has always been the case in the eight years that I have shopped here for random fasteners (thanks Ikea, you lame o's), keys made at checkout and don't let the facade fool you, this place is huge and carries an incredible array of tools and home repair items for fair prices. Horrible. My mother in law Bought a grill on July 3rd to use for the 4th and the side smoker's paint on top peeled off while it was cooking. My mother in law called about a refund and spoke to the owner. She was informed that she could return the grill and give her $40 or keep the grill and they'd give her $150. All this was over the phone. She returned the grill. When we arrived to pick up the grill, we received the $150 and loaded the grill back in the vehicle. After we loaded the grill, the lady behind the counter ran out and stated that the deal that was told to us was the opposite. They informed us that they would pay us $150 and they keep the grill, or we keep the grill and give us $40. How does it make sense for us to loose out on over $120 and they keep the grill? Keep in mind we were already leaving when they went back on the deal. Horrible customer service and wants to change deals at the last minute. I like spending my money locally, but never at this place again. read more

We called Bauman's and they were closing in 10 minutes. They offered to stay open until we got there (which was right at closing time). When we walked in, there were all the employees waiting to help us. I can't say enough how thankful we were for the personal sacrifice of Bauman's and their employees. I just wasted 30 minutes trying to use curbside to pick up a small order of fertilizer at this Ace Bauman's location on Kansas Avenue in Riverside. Initially, I was told the order wasn't ready. I said I received an email and a phone call that it was. I finally convinced the associate to check and --- surprise! --- it was ready. Then I was told someone would be "right out" and he hung up without asking my location or a description of my vehicle. 15 minutes later waiting in the car with 2 dogs and hundred degrees... I called back and was told that this ACE location does NOT offer curbside pickup and never has. That was a surprise because it says it clearly on the website, in my confirmation email and I have used this location THREE TIMES in the last 2 months for curbside pickup. I asked the associate's name and he said "David." I asked for a last name and he said "Jones." I doubt that's a real last name but I'm very disappointed in this customer experience. We try to support small local businesses whenever we can, but I will be making all of my future curbside purchases at Home Depot. read more

That is why my experience today was so difficult to accept Last Thanksgiving I purchased a kitchen faucet. Today I went to return it because it was leaking from inside the handle. I did not have the the receipt. I take responsibility for that. But the complete lack of customer service from the owners son is why I give this store 0 stars and will tell everyone not to shop here. I get that you need the receipt. But to do nothing and tell me that you don't care if I never shop there again. Your parents should be proud of that college education you just received. This 5 star rating was made possible by young Lady named Karen who works the counter and key cutting machine at Ace Hardware in Riverside Ca. This maybe a bit long winded but bare with me. I will do reviews on exceptionally bad service or exceptionally good service. Here was issue at hand, my key to my storage lock broke on my circular lock, i was able to retrieve both portions of key, however the removal of the lock by storage company has a fee of $100.00 and your not aloud to do it yourself. Taking both pieces of the key to Home Depot and Lowe's they were unable to assist. I needed to get in my Storage immediately. I thought what the hell i have to go to Ace anyways, i will see what they can do. So i go to the counter and this young lady named Karen assisted me with so much professionalism and confidence, after i explained my situation she took the broken key and made a new one, stating there is no guarantee it will work but im confident it will. " Karen it sure did work and i thank for the friendly and excellent customer service" To Owner's of various retail establishment professionalism in your staff does matter a great deal to us the Consumers having staff such as this young lady i mentioned above are prized assets to any organization.
