I recently stopped by Harbor Freight Tools in Riverside and found it to be a decent spot for bargain-minded customers like me. I am not a professional so when it comes to home improvements that are easy, I come here to buy some tools and also talk to staff on getting their input on my home projects. I like coming here because it isn't as intimidating as Home Deport where they have a larger store and tons of items to look through. Here, it is small enough and easy enough for me to shop and find my own goodies. The store stocks a wide variety of top items like automotive tools, power tools, welding gear, generators, and hand tool sets -- all at competitive prices that help you save on projects big and small. The staff I interacted with were friendly and offered helpful suggestions when I had questions about specific tools and which ones to use for my home improvement project which made shopping easier. Inventory can be different from various Harbor Freight locations, so it is good to call ahead of time if you know exactly which tool you are looking for. It also helps when they have some good deals on the weekends. Last week it was a free item with purchase and this week it's a free bucket also with a purchase. Overall, good experience. If you register your phone number with them, they will record your purchase with your nunber so if you don't have your receipt for a return, they can look it up based on your phone number. read more

I have been a business owner now for over 5 years. We have ALWAYS purchased our Bauer Heat guns from Harbor Freight, as well as their 1 year extended warranty, why? Because the heat guns tend to last about 6-9 months, and then they stop heating up. When I had initially opened my business I went to Harbor Freight and bought 6 heat guns with 6 extended warranties, a couple of extension cords and some basic tools I thought we might need. Fast forward to 5 years later and multiple warranties and returns. I went back to return 3 of the heat guns that had gone bad. I got 3 more and purchased the extended warranties on the new 3 guns, only to have the Manager Lupe, in an extremely loud voice tell me. "After this purchase we will no longer be warrantying your heat guns, the computer flagged you and you are returning to many of them!" I calmly explained to her, that I had purchased the extended warranties for the specific reason. They work well when they work, but when they go bad, I need to replace them, no ands, if's, or buts. She told me "It's not my fault the heat guns are going bad, and if you aren't happy with them, we can give you a full refund and you can go purchase them elsewhere" I was like "wtf is she talking about?" Maybe you should call bauer and tell them to make a better quality product, or stop selling their products if you cant maintain a warranty on it! Either way, she told me that if I didn't like it, I could call corporate, which was no help at all. Corporate suggested I go somewhere else to do my returns, because maybe it was just the store flagging the returns....Either way....Lupe has HORRIBLE customer service and should not be a manager. read more

I called to confirm there was a certain item and available, and the girl who picked up the phone said that there was five available, but I had asked her if she could grab one to make sure because I understand sometimes the quantity can be off. She just told me to go to aisle five when I arrived so I drove all the way down there to pick it up and to no surprise, there was none in stock. I simply asked her to make sure that they physically had it and not just on the system so that I didn't waste my time or gas. read more

Horrible return policy. I bought an $80 extension cord. I tapped my debit card (not swiped). Anyway, I didn't need the extension cord. I went to return it, I was told that I could get store credit or a refund, but the refund would take 3 business days. I opted for tbt refund. Seven days later, no refund on my account. I went back to the store. The cashier couldn't help me. The manager told me to call corporate. Why?? It's their policy! One week later no refund and no extension cord. If you buy anything from this store, make sure you keep it. Worst return policy ever. read more

Harbor Freights product support stinks. Our company purchased a General Tool Box and the lock had to be drilled out as the keys were lost. In doing so the attachment from the lock to the rod was damaged. I've contacted the support and we have reviewed the illustrated parts catalog and this specific part is not shown. I have sent photos of the rollaway, photos of the lock assembly and attachments from in store rollaways showing exactly what I need. Isabelle ( manager ) on 1/4/2019 .. By far hubby and I agree this location is our favorite. It's not the products or merchandise. All harbor freight carriers the same type of inventory.. My 5 star goes to Isabelle , she was the manager on duty that day and I noticed her on the floor assisting / answering questions with customers. She also went above and beyond to try to find products for a caller on the phones. We were also pleased with her service and helping us find the right tools . Every time I walk in the line to pay is SO LONG! It makes me walk back out. One day I got lucky, no one was waiting to pay, so I did quick. But I had to get one more thing and guess what, the line formed again. I'm here today to hopefully return that extra item as the sales guy suggested the wrong thing. I'm standing in line right now! lol I do love their lower prices and they carry some interesting stuff. You can usually find a coupon online for a discount. I understand this location just opened, close it. Upon walking there were two women standing at the cashier area. No hello, no welcome to Harbor Freight. We walked around the store and with six customers in store there was no one to help or answer questions. When we went front to pay the two women couldn't stop their conversation to pay attention to any customers. Thier conversation was more important than paying customers. I'll go to Lowe's next time, get the same horrible service, but used to it. Close this store now, we won't miss it. read more

HORRIBLE! I wish I could a negative ZERO because I've never seen or met such LAZY people in my life!!! There's nobody around to help. The girl doing the cashier just stares at you when you walk in - not even a nice greeting. They seem irritated when you ask a question. I asked the girl in the front by a cashier if someone can help me - I stood in the aisle for quite some time and finally flagged a guy down. The guy looked irrirated. Tools galore! Granted, you won't find high quality tools here but Harbor Freight Tools is definitely a one stop shop. Whether you need a table saw or an OBD-II reader, you'll find it here. This is a store that can cause serious problems to the checking account. Aside from essential tools, they also stock their aisles with impulse buys like machetes. Machetes that sell for $5. Their inventory reminds me of long defunct hardware stores like Channel. I think some of the tools were actually made in the 80s. Well, at least the packaging suggest that it was. But seriously, you can find a no frills version of nearly any hand-held tool you can think of at Harbor Freight. Magically, they're open during the CBU takeover of the Adams Shopping Center. The center used to be home to Mr. Yu's, The Original Pancake House, Juan Pollo, and a dozen other businesses. Now Harbor Freight stands alone. Rude customer service! Asked a worker where an item was and he just said oh check over there. Didn't get his name but very rude. We went to check out and Kim was the cashier and she didn't greet us didn't even look at us and put our money on the table and throw the change in my husbands hand. Stopped in this afternoon at 2:15 pm. I am looking for a submersible pump and a submersible light for my pond. I used to get these all the time at the old store on Adams. Only one cashier at the front of the store, a young lady working, running register and answering many customers questions as to where items were in the store. As I walked down the first aisle, two male employees ducked in the storage or warehouse area of the store, out of sight of customers. And they stayed there for 15 minutes. I timed them. You know why? I needed help locating my two items. So, since the two male employees decided to hide from the customers on the sales floor, I walked each and every aisle, looking for my items. I looked at each and every end cap. Twice. I actually asked customers if they knew where my items were. The general consensus was, what good are the employees if they're not out on the sales floor to help not only me but the other customers who were wandering around as well? Yes, I could have asked the gal that was running register, but she had her hands full answering the phone, talking to the customers that were milling around the register asking their own questions, and ringing people up. And then I spotted a third male employee, who very quickly placed a cart at the front of the store and then disappeared behind the door right next to the two-way mirror window right at the start of aisle one. Apparently he was blind to all the customers lingering around the register, asking for help. A decent employee would have stopped and realized his coworker needed help and provided it. But no. Needless to say, I walked out empty-handed. I am very disappointed in this Harbor Freight, as this is not the first time this 'hide from the customers routine', has happened at the Riverside location. read more

Went in this week to return a Pacific Hydrostar 1650 PSI Electric Pressure Washer purchased. It sat in the box in the garage for a year. Then used it to wash a lounge chair and two days later to wash the car......then it did not work went dead. I explained this to the lady at the cash register, I had even purchased extend warranty per suggested by the casher when I purchased it. They said there would be a re-stocking fee. Of course they would not exchange or give me any credit. So be warned do not buy this product it is TRASH. I will never buy any thing other than a paint brush or tarp at this place, thats if I even go back. The lady was not helpful, I know I should have asked for the manager, but I was so feed-up I left and said that could keep the piece of sh** and walked out. You can buy literally the identical tools at Autozone and actually exchange the broken tool without a receipt. Love this tool store. So glad they moved and opened up this nice new location. Store is much bigger and offers plenty of product. Staff is not always the most knowledgeable but as long as you know this going in your good. Having said this, the staff is still very friendly and they try very hard to assist in any way possible. I use tools every day for my job. This is my 'go-to' spot. The deals they have are incredible. I recommend to always look at the ad and coupon specials. If you are a regular tool shopper I encourage you to sign up for the membership. It gets even better pricing on certain tools and the deals change throughout the year. This location has a big parking lot with plenty of spaces, even with work trucks in lot. The store is newer and very clean. read more

Harbor Freight is wonderful! My husband loves this store, and thus, I have been dragged there more than once. They really do have great tools/home improvement items for cheap. It's kind of like the home improvement & tool dollar store. We've bought everything from spare tool boxes for the car (and then filled that tool box with an array of tools) to solar panels to dog supplies. I'm a girly girl, but do I ever love this inexpensive tool store. I only gave it 4 out of 5 stars because, like the dollar store it doesn't have everything that Home Depot or Lowe's would have (not as comprehensive coverage of tool items), but I'm sure you could find just about anything on their on-line store. read more

I know people are usually inclined to write reviews when they have a bad experience. In this case I am writing this review to complement the Harbor Freight on Magnolia in Riverside, CA. I recently purchased a sand blast cabinet. When I finished assembling it, I saw that the door didn't fit tightly. This would be a problem with sand blasting because you don't want the dust to get out and to breathe it. So I brought the door to the store and explained that I recently purchased the sand blaster and spent a long time assembling it. The door was warped and I didn't want to return the sand blaster. The salesman (I wish I got his name) very politely told me that he would see what he could do and left. After a few minutes I went to see where he went and he was taking the door off the floor model. Two stars because the store is clean and not a total mess like I've seen at other locations. The low rating is mainly for the employees in this store. Our cashier Kim, obviously didn't want to be at work today she couldn't be less interested in providing good or even mediocre customer service.
