I live close to the store so I shop here all the time. Unfortunately, the cashiers that are nice here. Don't work here anymore. Adrienne is flat out a liar and then rude as well. I went out of my way to buy six because it said by five get one free then I'm like OK. I just paid for all six and she started arguing with me and I'm like it's basic math 6×5 = 32 dollars tax that's what I got charged so I just flat out said she just tells you what she wants so that you'll go away I'm 56 years old so I don't want some 20 something not doing her job and ripping me off even if it's not my money. The cashier needs to greet every customer with open arms, during each and every interaction. Usually have some of the parts that I need. It's nice that there's a hardware store that's convenient but most of the time I have to buy from the big box stores or for from Amazon. Prices are a little higher here than normal, but I think that's to be expected. read more

My wife went online to find a leaf blower bag. This ace hardware came up on the listings and said it was InStock. So she purchased it online. Just to be safe, she went ahead and tried calling the store . After four times with no answer, I decided to drive over and get it online. When I got there, lady at the store said "oh yeah we don't have that" It's your fault that you showed up before we pulled the order and realize we didn't have it. I bought two tires for a dolly at Ace, they cost approximately $70 for both. This was approximately two months ago I have not used the dolly at this point, but yesterday I needed the dolly one tire was fine the other tire was flat these are tubeless tires. I called the store and talk to a woman on the phone and explained that the tires were still brand new and hadn't been used she said she had to talk to a manager. When she came back to the phone she told me the manager said they could sell me a hand pump or an electric pump but they could not help me in any other way. It is sad that ace does not stand behind their products I have been going there for approximately 12 years I would not recommend this particular ace hardware store to anybody that expects to be treated fairly. All I wanted was for them to put some air in this tire, and they couldn't even do that to help a customer. read more

I needed a very tiny screw with a specific head. The lady at Ace looked at her hundred or more of boxes of screw and found an almost identical one to what I needed. They are always very helpful, and they have a large stock of items. read more

What's happening with my favorite ACE at Woodcrest?  This is the 3rd visit where I couldn't help but notice the empty shelves.  And the third time I left empty handed having to go to the dreaded Home Depot.  There's nothing really wrong with HD its just too hard to get to, parking sucks, and there's no one that really knows what they're doing on hand, but they do have stock.  I miss the old Woodcrest ACE.  I wonder if there's financial issues at hand.  What ever it is better solve them fast because I'm sure others are losing interest. read more

I just left Ace hardware in Van Buren I bought a handicap grab bar according to the instructions there's another part sold separate so I asked Tim a large man sitting changing some labels or something I asked him if he knew where they're at he said everything should be there in a disturbed voice I told all that is in there is six screw and states the other parts sold seperate he then shoved the grab bar into my hand and said very disturbed then I can't help you man woman so I told him you can even tell who your seeing he said well I don't know now a days you could be both. Wow worse customer service. So sad because I used this store all the time since it's down the street. They have new staff at least to me look awfully young and don't have any customer service skills. Bryan the supervisor is clueless ana could careless to loose business. Mellisa treated me like a criminal the minute I entered the store. I walked in to do an exchange wasn't try to get money back. I had no receipt but gave them the rewards number. They claimed they couldn't pull it up and refused to exchange. I ended up purchasing what I needed anyway over $40 and checked my receipt and no where does it say must have receipt to exchange. I try supporting local stores specially knowing they are privately owned but they will continue to loose business because their customer service has gone downhill. I feel sorry for the few good employees they have left that do go above for their customers but with people like Bryan running the show good luck. read more

I am redecorating my office and ran into an issue with my desk. I found desk legs I liked and wanted to connect them to this wooden panel I loved. I went to Ace on Woodcrest on Wednesday and ran into Chuck. I told Chuck I needed some help attaching the legs to this panel to make a desk, and I wanted it to be sturdy. I showed him two ways I found online of people doing a similar project, and asked what option was most feasible and practical. When Ace didn't have one of the brackets I needed for option A, he helped me grab everything I needed for option B. He talked me through the process, described what I needed to do, made a couple switches/modifications so we could minimize waste, and even gave me a coulple suggestions for how to make my desk even more secure. I grabbed everything and told him thanks. Today, I actually started the project today. I am not someone who regularly works with tools. I know what tools are what, and I know--generally--how to use them, so I was a little apprehensive. While I did run into a couple issues (stripping screws, breaking drill bits), within a few hours I had two desks that are just what I wanted. Thank you, Chuck, for all your help, and I'm so glad that the people at Ace are always able to actually give good advice. read more

This place is great! Employees are helpful to the point of walking you right to the item and making sure you find what you need. Generally, they seem more mature and knowledgeable than the employees at the big box hardware stores. Sale prices are usually good and it's much closer to home than either of the big 2. Parking is limited and access to the lot is sometimes a challenge because of Van Buren traffic, but those are minor issues. It's also nice to be able to patronize a smaller neighborhood business. It feels like a traditional old hardware store and I like that. You don't feel like you are going on a hike if you have to walk from one end of the store to the other. This location actually occupies two buildings separated by a parking lot. Signs direct customers to the building most likely to have the items you need. If they could do all this and keep prices as low as the big box stores, I'd give them 6 stars! read more

Good old fashion American hospitality. These are wonderful people. They helped me look for the right option for my replacement sink squirting gun hose. Also they helped me with wheel barrows to see if they fit in my car before purchasing. They went a got a flatted table from the back because the one I bought wouldn't fit in my car. They always ask what they can do to help and it makes me not feel like an idiot walking in there not too keen on hardware things. Any little thing I need I don't mind going there because I feel right at home - and in this day and age thats hard to find anywhere. Also the Sarsaparilla in the drink cooler is a rare find and I always try and pick up a few bottle when I can afford to splurge a bit. read more

I am a frequent customer of DYI hardware stores and on occasion must rely on the expertise of the employees. My nine year old son needed Materials for his science fair project. When we arrived, there were many customers in the store preparing for the holidays and it could have been very easy to overlook this little nine-year-old customer. However, Mark and Sean were very attentive to my son's questions and helpful in assisting us in choosing the right materials for the project. I will come to this ace for all of my hardware needs.
