Parking was ample as there is a side parking lot which it was full. Once inside the line wrapped around and there were many options. Ended up with a game and cheese kolache and coffee. They heated up the kolache before serving. As this was done before leaving the ordering area, it made sense why the line took a few to move. Service was friendly and great recommendations. Quick bite to eat and tea (yes tea! Going off coffee again) before a business meeting nearby. Grabbed their famous and most popular jalapeño kolache. It is a bit spicy...but I had to try it. Probably will not get that one again. The place is large and spacious (indoors and outdoors) and could be really great for groups. It has a large patio in the back that's used for Live music. They also have food trucks, one of which, is Paris BBQ. Therefore, you could listen to Live music have dinner or just have a adult beverage. They also feature comedy shows which is pretty cool. Y'all I'm slipping in my old age... can you believe I've never reviewed Batch or checked in? Here's what happens, I start reviews and then they sit in my Yelp drafts...sometimes for a year or so. True story. I gotta get better at that. It's why I'll sometimes post multiple reviews in a day...cleaning out that pending box Ok. You're ready for me to stop rambling now am I correct? Batch rules! It's a cute stone house that like so many places in Austin has been converted to a restaurant. Cool stained glass windows. Counter and table seating inside. Extremely clean. Huge back patio and yard space that's shared with food trucks like Bummer Burrito and Parish Barbecue. Note: Inside is absolutely not dog friendly. Don't even take your pooch in with you to order. With that said, that outdoor patio is extremely dog friendly. Our fur guy loves playing there. Batch carries the finest craft beers, coffee, lattes, etc. The homemade oatmeal cream pies are balls to the wall insane. Like so good. The kolaches are king! Light, soft, and filling. The variety is almost overwhelming for someone indecisive like myself. I always end up with jalapeño and sausage. Ham and cheese is good, so is the one with the eggs. Heck, they're all good. PRICING - The total was $24.49 after tax ($1.89) but before tip for 2 sausage, jalapeño, and cheese kolaches ($4.95 each), 2 fruit sweet cheese kolaches ($4.75 each), and a hibiscus tea ($3.50). I think the pricing is reasonable considering size of the kolaches. I'm not a drinker so I can only speak to the food! For anyone reading who isn't familiar with kolaches, they're a Czech pastry with a fruit or cheese filled yeasted dough. In the Czech Republic, you typically only find sweet variations but Texas offers a lot of savory, usually sausage-filled versions (technically this is a klobásník but they tend to just call both the sweet and savory variations "kolaches"). SAUSAGE, JALAPEÑO, AND CHEESE KOLACHE (8/10) - Pretty good! The sausage inside is cut in half length-wise so you don't get a whole sausage but there's plenty of cheese and jalapeño pieces inside as well as baked into the dough. One was baked more than the other but both were good. I'd order this again! FRUIT SWEET CHEESE KOLACHE (8/10) - I went with cherry and I loved the sweet but slightly tart flavor! The dough is soft but still dense and the ratio of dough to filling was great. I'd order this again! This was my first time at Batch and I will definitely be back! A friend of mine was promoting a jam session for jazz musicians so I went to check it out with a friend. So glad I did. What a fun location with inside and outside seating. We were inside for the jam session. It was so fun to see all these young musicians getting up there to showcase their talent! I was impressed. I almost thought about singing but I didn't think I was ready nor did I have the sheet music for the musicians. I only had some green/tropical tea as we were there for a short time, but they were nice enough to give me hot water refills. Don't let the one $ deceive you. It's not dirt cheap but it's not ridiculously priced either. The ham and cheese kolache was prob my favorite. Soft and flakey, and just the right amount of cheese and ham. I was rlly looking forward to the jalapeños one but it wasn't as great as I expected. The sweet kolaches were on the sweeter side. If you're not a sweets person, I'd recommend sticking to the savory kolaches. Lines get long quick so be prepared or come early in the morning. I visited Batch with a friend this past Sunday morning, and I loved it. So what's to love? Firstly - and most importantly - the kolaches. Like a lot of kids that grew up in Texas, I grew up preferring kolaches to donuts (the donut shops around where I grew up offered both, and I never understood why anyone would choose a donut over a kolache!). (FYI for readers not as familiar with kolaches: A kolaches is a Czech pastry - a yeasted dough filled with various fillings (usually sweet - cheese or fruit). They're very popular in Texas due to a strong/prominent Czech immigrant community in Central Texas. In Texas, a variation on the kolache, called klobasneky and filled with variations of sausage, jalapeno, and cheese, is extremely popular.) Walking into Batch made me so happy. After the classic spots in West (the town of West, Texas, not the region of West Texas), this might be the biggest selection of kolaches I've seen: sausage jalapeno cheese, sausage cheese, pepperoni, veggie sausage gouda, fruit sweet cheese, and so many more! I chose a sausage jalapeno cheese (my go to), and it was great. The dough was fluffy and soft. The sausage was great. And they did not skimp on the jalapeno - this was a hot kolache. They warmed it up to the perfect temp. Just a delight to eat. They have tons of seating inside, very retro with lots of tables. Then there's lots of seating outside as well. Overall, I really enjoyed my time at Batch. If I still lived in Austin, I'm sure I'd make my way there pretty regularly for a delicious breakfast. read more

I find Batch to be underwhelming overall. The location is nice and the have ample parking, They have a large outside space along with plenty of seating inside if that's more your thing. All kolaches have milk in the batter. It would be great if they could make one without for people with a lactose allergy. The coffee they serve here is lawsuit hot. Have to wait 15 minutes minimum for it to cool off. Every time I go I'm shocked at how long the line is inside and how slow the staff moves. This weekend there were 6 people behind the bar, but only one person working a cash register when there were 8 guests waiting to place their order. read more

I like that it's patience and you can pick your own seat outside or inside and also the food menu is vegan friendly and they sell merchandise and it's easy to read labels. The bathrooms are outside the first area of the restaurant and there's only two stalls inside the females restrooms.. the patio outside. You can pick your own table and they have lights on the patio. Music is interesting all different levels . Very casual place. I'm assuming it is dog friendly because they have the patty outside and it's salsa kid friendly you can put your baby stroller in here if you need to. Dropped in on a Saturday night during winter. They were out of the Veggie Sausage kolaches, so I settled for a Jalapeño Cheese kolache. Pine Double IPA is good. I stayed to watch two consecutive musicians. The first sang with an acoustic guitar. The next singer, with a banjo. It was too cold to sit outside, but I did grab some food from the Bummer Burrito food truck. This was my first visit. Wow what a delicious place to stumble upon! Walked in today expecting some decent kolaches and walked out biting into the most delicious kolache I've ever had. My friend was with me and said these kolaches were life changing. He also had a vanilla latte and was also floored by the taste. Service was exceptional from the moment we stepped in and the vibe was so chill. Many of the people here seemed to be working remote. If I worked remote I'd definitely consider coming here for some nice scenery. It also seems like they have live music because there was a calendar on the wall with bookings every night. On our recent to visit to Austin, Batch was a true highlight. Let's just get straight to it: Batch has parking! And lots of it! Conveniently, the bus stop is right out front, too. Batch has a GREAT outdoor area. This would be a super fun place to bring your pup or sit in the sun with a beer. Batch has WIFI! There were a number of people posted up with headphones and laptops. Batch (sometimes) has live events! When we visited, there was a saxophone + bongo drum duo (Keep Austin Weird). Batch has bar seats! Who doesn't love cozying up on a couple of stools and chatting with the bartenders. Batch has beer, coffee, AND kolaches - the Austin food pyramid. What else could you want? Their house beers are tasty, and they have savory and sweet kolache options. We visited on a Friday afternoon, and I was thrilled to enjoy their happy hour. We loved the live music and the friendly staff. My only disappointment was that I realllly wanted a PBJ kolache, but they were sold out. Unfortunately, by the time we arrived around 10:30 AM on a Monday, they were sold out of a lot of flavors. That said, I'd highly recommend the Sausage Jalapeño Cheese kolache. It wasn't too spicy and was absolutely crave-worthy. I'm already thinking about having another! I also tried the Pepperoni and Cheese kolache, but I thought it was just okay in comparison. They have a parking lot, so parking was free and super convenient, which was a nice bonus. If you're in Austin, Batch is definitely worth a visit for their kolaches. Batch has a fun coffee house/bar vibe with an indoor stage and table seating and a large outdoor space with additional seating. They host a good number of live music shows, which is what brought us out several times. They do make and serve baked goods, including kolaches. I would be careful of those in the evening, however, as they bestowed upon me a rather unpleasant bout of food poisoning. Fresh is best. The beer selection is very good, but the wines are a basic red, white, or rose. Beer is the focus here, hence the name. The female bartender was friendly and helpful. Batch is a really cool spot in Austin. I had family visiting who wanted to try the kolaches so we headed in. The kolaches look awesome, but sadly there are no vegan options. There seems to be a separate food truck that has a vegan breakfast option, but I was not able to try it out on this visit. A member of my party ordered a latte, which ended up taking 25 minutes. I stopped in after a fitness class and was craving some coffee. The folks there were pretty friendly and it looked like there was plenty of space. The parking lot seemed a bit small but I was able to find some parking on the left side of the building. I got the jalapeño sausage and cheese kolache and a jalapeño cheese kolache. I think it was around 12:30 or so and they still had a decent amount of options. They were pretty decent sized and the sausage was yummy. Though very different from the sausage kolaches im used to getting from a neighborhood mom/pop donut shop. I was eyeballing the tacos but they don't serve those until 3pm so have to go back another time. The coffee was just a plain drip and was good. I might have to go back another time to try their cold brew which they mentioned was very strong. I recently spent 5 days on a girls trip to Austin, a city I had previously only visited once, like 7 years ago. Since that trip, I have viewed Texas with a nearly singular goal of revolution--uh, I mean, trying Texas-style kolaches. So imagine my glee when a kolache and beer establishment presented itself as an option?! We tried to go one afternoon, but kolaches were in seriously limited supply, so we returned the next morning. I had a little bit of the ol' vacation gut, and it was relatively early, so I didn't partake of any beer, but their selection, which featured a variety of Czech style beers, looked really good. If I go back, will definitely try one or three of them. What I did have and enjoy, however, was a delightful oat milk latte as well as some kolaches. Got a veggie sausage & gouda, four cheese (which was split), and a strawberry & cheese, which most resembles the kolaches you find in the Czech Republic. My companions got a jalapeño cheese and a couple of meat options, which I did not try. But lemme tell you: that shit was good! Airy yet indulgent, substantial but not overwhelmingly so. Very good. Service was prompt and friendly, the spot is very cute, and they have great souvenirs to take home and prove to your friends that you had what is, perhaps, one of the best kolache experiences in Texas*.
