The home fries were crispy and salty, the eggs were cooked perfectly, and the sour cream added a nice brightness to the whole thing. I polished it off easily. I added sausage, though the sausage was just okay, nothing special. I also ordered two tacos: the Golden Bear (al pastor) and the Great White Shark (beer-battered snapper). The Golden Bear was a solid, straightforward al pastor taco. The name didn't tip me off (Duh Lyla!) that this is the restaurant/snack bar at the golf course! We just needed somewhere to eat with a patio that was close by and Yelp suggested this. A friend invited me to lunch and picked this spot. I usually research where we are going but didn't this time and was surprised to see it's a little restaurant inside a golf club. There is just one entrance into the parking lot so don't miss it! The bathrooms are fine and part of the club. There is outdoor seating overlooking the green and golfers and outdoor seating under a pavilion with picnic tables. There is also inside seating when it gets hot outside. I ordered the chips trio and everything was tasty. I ordered the fish and shrimp tacos. Both were on corn tortillas and full of flavor! Then a side of rice and refried beans. All of it was fresh and not greasy. I usually judge a place on whether I would go back or recommend to others. This place gets both because I can't wait to go back! read more

Hidden gem alert! It's been a while since I've been here! If you haven't been to Fairways Cantina you are missing OUT! It's located right next to Morris Williams Golf Course. You don't have to partake in golf to come enjoy the tropical margaritas and delicious tacos while enjoying the view! Parking is ample and service was excellent today! I ordered the Shooter McGavin signature taco ($5.75) which included smoked pulled pork, pineapple, cabbage, cotija, cilantro and a sweet pineapple sauce! The pulled pork was sooo tender and juicy and the pineapple was a nice surprise--pretty filling as well. I also tried one of their non alcoholic beers-School Night ($5) (new menu items!) I enjoyed it. It was light and fruity. The queso that came with the Triple Birdie ($10.95) (queso, guacamole and salsa) was spicy and ADDICTIVE!! It's very casual counter service so know what to expect but their food is surprisingly solid and their staff is pretty cool. Okay, I have been meaning to write a review for this place for a while. And Ali(sp?) service made me finally commit to it. Look into the history of the place. It is interesting to say the least. When I first moved into the neighborhood and saw that there was a taco place at a golf club I was uncertain about trying this place out. However The tacos are incredible! Love the fish, love the steak and love the chicken. They know what they are doing! The cocktails are incredible. The price is inexpensive. The patio area, especially around sunset, is gorgeous. And again, this staff. Really, you can tell that the managers and owners place a lot of importance on their staff/customer interactions. What a cute little place tucked away in east Austin. It overlooks the golf course so the views are expansive and gorgeous. They have a nice patio to sit out on when the weather is nice. When you step inside it's a really nondescript cantina, almost like a small canteen but when you try the food, you'll see why this is a must-add to your list of taco places in the city! Try this place next time you are in the Mueller area! Came back after discovering this Cafe was open to the public not just golfers, and it's delicious. Highlights include- the faraway salsa (it's made in house and a new favorite of ours), the shooter McGavin taco, and the pink panther cocktail. Other great options- the fried fish taco was solid, the quesadilla with a side of queso to dip is delicious, and really all their cocktails are great. They also have can beer, cider and white claw for $6 or can wine. I was told that you can buy a can and take it with you while golfing. The setting is lovely on a nice day. There's nothing more refreshing than an ice, cold, frozen margarita from fairways Cantina. My boyfriend and I went to their happy hour, and decided to cool off on a hot day with some margs. they have a variety of margaritas and cocktails, which can all be tried during their happy hours. But today I decided to try their mango Rita, which came with a tajín or salt rim. of course i went with the tajín. The margaritas were nicely strong with a good, sweet taste. One of my pet peeves with margaritas are, when they're overly sweet and you can taste the bitterness of the tequila or vodka, but that was not the case with the fairway cantinas margaritas. It was a perfectly balanced marg. We ended up having way too many of the same margarita that we didn't get to try the other ones, but I will definitely need to come back to trade the rest of their drinks and food. The fairways Cantina restaurant is located on a golf course, which has a beautiful little patio area where you can watch people golf. Enjoy the beautiful Austin east area and just relax. Although it was very hot when I went, being in the shade, getting a little bit of the breeze and the cold, marg just made the day a whole lot better. I did not expect one of my favorite taco places to be on a golf course! The tacos and frozen margaritas alone make me want to book more tee times at Morris Williams. I'm slowly making my way through the menu and my favorite so far is the Green Jacket taco, which is beautifully assembled and features a fried avocado. The picante red salsa is also the perfect amount of spice for me (it's very very spicy, for those who can't tolerate spice). The frozen drinks are also delicious and stronggg. Wow I'm so glad that I found out about Fairways Cantina through the neighborhood fb page. Finding the Cantina was a little difficult because Apple maps led us astray, but it's located next to the golf range so just take the entrance to the course. We ordered online and received our food in around 15 minutes. Be careful of their hours as they close pretty early. They have really great outdoor seating that faces the golf course and we will definitely be back for brunch with a view. We ordered the Green Jacket, Merry Mex, Street Elote, a Frozen Margarita, and a 19th Hole Lemonade. All were really great but be prepared for the kick in the elote. It was a lot spicier than expected. I recommend looking at their website menu for descriptions of their food instead of the online ordering system as it is a little more accurate. read more
