I decided to dine here at Batch & Brine after my hike at Lafayette Reservoir. Why not have a burger after a long hike I may ask? This is one of the great places to stop by and hangout with your friends after a long day. The atmosphere is very overwhelming because of how nice this place looks with seats outside for a chill/warm weather. The staff are very friendly and respectful when they took my order. I got the "Blue" Burger and they added a lot of blue dressing. The fries are a bit salty, but that's fine. Overall, this is a great burger place and will definitely come back! Suggestion: I noticed on the menu that all burgers and sandwiches come from one section called "Burgers and Sandwiches". They should either separate burgers and sandwiches into two sections or include burger/sandwich in the foods' descriptions. I've had a bit of a renaissance with Batch and Brine recently. When I moved here years ago, I was a big fan given the restaurant's family-friendly nature, good cocktails and pretty good food. My love affair hit a lull over the last few years - I felt like the food took a hit. However, it's once again become a regular go-to restaurant for my family in the last few months. I was so excited when I realized that the food has returned to being consistently pretty good. I'm also a huge fan of their happy hour. I love to take my kiddo there for a "date." We order pretty much everything off the happy hour menu, play games and chit-chat. It's the perfect kid date spot. :) In terms of what to order, I'll start with cocktails first. I love a spicy cocktail, so the Serrano Mi Hermano and Strawpeno are my top two favs. They also make a great spicy skinny margarita. (I'll note that they also make boozy milk shakes, which sounds so enticing though I've yet to order one.) For food, I usually get the Nashville hot chicken salad, the fattoush salad or a fried chicken sandwich. We also LOVE their pretzel. I tried to look for a place in between Hercules (my cousin lives there) and San Jose that had whiskey cocktails and was kid friendly. This was perfect. We went on a Sunday late afternoon. We absolutely loved the vibe and thought it was so cute. It was great to make it to happy hour. We started with a drink each and had the ahi tuna nachos to start with. It was delicious. Then we ordered fries, sliders (so freaking good! You have to get it!), pretzel and tacos. We ordered the grilled cheese for the little one. The waitress was pretty awesome. One of the CLEANEST restaurants I've been to ever in my life. The bathroom was immaculate and I could smell the cleaner. The dishes had no stains or water spots, floors and tables were spotless. I loved it. I ordered the chicken and waffles, with a side of bacon and eggs, it was a beautiful presentation, and waffles were almost like cake, yum! On the other hand the chicken was not seasoned at all, but I could overlook that because I enjoyed the waffles so much. We also didn't know the regular menu was available at brunch, so we then ordered a side of sticky ribs, that were not what I expected. We returned tonight for dinner and enjoyed everything! Staff and service is very friendly and attentive. This restaurant is kid and pet friendly which makes the crowd fun! I wanted to wait until I visit again to make my review because I just didn't have the same experience and my fellow yelpers but if I wait any longer I'm Going to forget important details. Now, this review is based off of brunch on a gloomy, rainy, Sunday. There is paid parking around the building, even on Sundays so we parked and went in. It wasn't busy so we sat down right away, the waitress was so kind and just a sweet little thing and attentive so customer service was 4 stars. When we sat down to look over the menu we decided that we probably should of came for more of a late lunch/dinner setting. I ordered the chicken and waffles and my husband ordered the chicken sandwich. Chicken and Waffles were decent, more of a pretty presentation then they were good. It was tasty don't get me wrong I just wish the chicken was more seasoned because it was bland, I opted for the sauce on the side and I'm Happy I did because I didn't like it. I asked for hot sauce and the one they had did not taste good, they don't have like regular hot sauxe. My husband enjoyed his chicken sandwich he said he wished it had more season as well. My friend recently moved to a new area and wanted to grab dinner. She recommended Batch & Brine because it was a good halfway meeting point for us and she had heard good things about this eatery. We came into the restaurant with no expectations and both left extremely satisfied. We were shooting to meet and eat during their happy hour which is offered daily from 3:00-5:00 p.m. My friends and I lucked out and arrived around 4:00 p.m. When we came in we were met with friendly and welcoming staff. These impressions lasted throughout the duration of our meal as we were accommodated and taken care of. The layout of the restaurant is spacious and gives off an elevated pub vibe to it. After browsing the happy hour menu which offered a range of multi-cultural small bites I chose the Falafel Bites while my friends ordered the Nashville Hot Slider and the Garlic and Sweet Potato Fries. I enjoyed my dish as it's been ages since I've last had falafel. It came with five balls of falafel piled on top of hummus. The falafel was crunchy and the exterior seemed a little overcooked but it had a nice spice to it. My friend devoured her slider and we appreciated they did half and half with the fries. The garlic fries weren't too garlicky but were a bit soggy while the sweet potato had a crispiness to it. Along with the happy hour menu, their main menu is mainly American fare with sliders, sandwiches, mac and cheese, and other small bites. All of the customers dining in seemed to be enjoying their meals which is a good sign! Batch & Brine isn't easy to miss as it's located off Mount Diablo Boulevard. Metered, street, and parking in the shopping center's lot are easy to find around the area. The menu is impressive, the food is tasty, the service is exceptional, and it's perfect for families, groups, or small parties. Big location and located on the main street so parking is on the side streets either before or after the spot. Indoor and outdoor seating available. They have a large menu both for food and drinks. You can sub your fries for their many variations for an extra charge. We started off with the fried burrata which was yummy but I wish it was served warmer than it was. The wings were generously tossed in sauce which I like. They also had Cali Craft on tap, yaaass to their pog spritzer. I didn't like the tuna sandwich, the filet was super thick and there was no other sauce than the wasabi aioli which was very wasabi tasting. Wish they offered a spicy mayo as a sub or something. Its a great spot to pickup some takeout on a busy work night. Or a great spot to grab a burger. PRO-TIP: They do a happy hour on their craft cocktails from 2:30pm to 5:30pm every weekday. The food was pretty pricy and didn't blow me away. There was a lot of bread to stuff ratio for the bahn mi and fried chicken. The duck bahn mi was unique and I appreciated the flavors but the fried chicken was a little on the burnt side and didn't feel as flavorful. I'm also usually a big fan of sweet potato fries and while they were good, were a little too thin and crispy for me. I wish they were the width of the regular fries! It was also VERY loud. Found this place from Instagram & decided to try it. First, Lafayette is beautiful. Quaint, little town, where you can park, walk, and take in the sights. The appetizer portions were definitely smaller than we thought but nothing you can do about that! Then with the service, maybe they were having a rough day. We had ordered three sodas and they never came, even after we reminded someone. We were still charged for the sodas until we mentioned it, about 2-3 times they finally took the sodas off. We usually sit at the bar and have drinks and bar snacks and have very decent service. My review is going to be a mixed bag. My latest trip here was for brunch and we sat in a booth, and the service was pure garbage, as was the food. I was seated before my friend arrived and literally ignored until my friend arrived (and even then, the service was nonexistent). Things I've tried: *Millionaire's bacon Benedict - they shouldn't call this millionaire's bacon because this ain't it. I will say that the eggs were poached perfectly. *Chicken fried steak - my friend didn't even make it half way through and said it was garbage. *Nashville hot chicken and waffle bites - there's zero spicy about this and there's also too much batter. ^^ So basically, don't bother coming here for brunch, it's not good and I don't even think they had coffee. *Pretzel - this might be one of my favorite things here and a great bar snack *Wings - nothing to write home about, but a good bar snack *Nashville salad - pretty decent (though obviously the worst salad option ha!) *Kale caesar - very decent salad *Little burgers - again, good as a bar snack, it's a couple of bites! I've been going to Batch & Brine for sometime but this was our first brunch visit. They only accept reservations for 5 or more guests. And they don't take same day reservations. We've been fortunate to not have to wait too long for a table. A few times, when we're being asked to wait, we need to have a back up plan. There are a few other great restaurant options nearby - Pizza Antica, Social Bird, etc. The brunch menu is great, with some traditional breakfast items mixed in with lunch offerings. There a little of everything for everyone here. They also have a full bar. I had the chicken and waffles which I likely won't order again. The chicken was dry and the waffle was very cold. But I was hungry - it was 11:30 and my first bite of the day. My friends were all happy with their orders! We ate inside which has lots of big open windows. If my brunch dish was better and if their reservation policy was easier, I would give them 5 stars. read more

There was a little boy who grew up in extreme poverty. Even though they were poor, his mother always made sure he would have a little rice and beans to eat for every meal. He appreciated and looked forward to eating the little portion of rice and beans his mom would make. Being that it was all he ever knew, and the fact that he was too young to understand his family's income class he asked his mom: "I wonder what poor people eat?" Well apparently I am that poor kid today, because these people in Lafayette are eating $20 hamburgers, duck confit French fries, avocado toast, and Salmon Benedict. On top of that they are eating in nice, contemporary dining areas with flat screen tvs at every turn. Happy hours daily. Outside dining without feeling like you are going to be robbed like in Oakland. Who knew!?!? Located four minutes walking distance from Bart, Batch & Brine serves solid comfort food. I came for lunch so I ordered: L.E.S - short for Lower East Side where they are famous for pastrami sandwiches. Although this sandwich wasn't Katz deli, the sandwich was good. The duck confit fries I had on the side were very good but rich. I felt a little overindulgent after eating it. Service was solid and the restaurant is impeccably clean.
