Came on a Sunday close to opening, no line, plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Two metered spots out front, or park at the Chase bank lot behind the restaurant ($7 for 11 hours, though I couldn't select a shorter time for some reason). Clean interior, helpful staff. Their soda and water dispenser is behind the counter, so ask them for cups of water while you're paying. I built a rice bowl with kale, chicken (they also have chickpeas and cauliflower as options), hummus and tzatziki, pickled onion and cucumber tomato salad, and greek and creamy garlic dressing. Everything tasted fresh and flavorful. Also got a side of pita chips, since it seemed popular. They fry it fresh, so it took a few minutes to come out, but it was cooked well, still soft and doughy inside with a slightly crispy exterior. It did have a slightly strong oil taste though, so maybe fry it a bit less or use fresher oil. I'd also get a side of dip, since your bowl won't have much left after mixing.

We were pretty lucky and were able to find a table by the window to sit. The inside of the restaurant was bright and warm. I really liked the decor. The order line moved fairly quickly. The food was good. The portion was also a decent size. I am glad this place opened; it's a nice addition to the Walnut Creek food scene.
I went here after a Barrys class and I really enjoyed my bowl that I created. I got the chicken with rice and greens and a myriad of sauces and toppings I can't even name. But everything mixed together really well, creating a bowl bursting with color and flavor. Also cannot recommend the pita chips enough! They make them fresh to order and we didn't wait too long. The inside was light and airy while the outside the perfect amount of crunch. It was the perfect meal to have after a workout class. The inside was clean and well kept and the property has a good amount of seating inside and outside.
Sala has quickly become my new go-to spot for a delicious & healthy takeout meal in Downtown Walnut Creek. I've been here twice now and I immediately fell in love with their Build Your Own Bowl, with fresh and flavorful ingredients. The line tends to be long, but moves quickly. I like to customize a greens & grains bowl. The saffron basmati rice is always a good choice. Then you choose dips- I like the hummus and tzatziki; Proteins are next, and I recommend the lamb! All the toppings mix in well and you can't go wrong. Finally, there's a good selection of dressings. I like the Tahini and Spicy Harissa. I recommend the Pita Chips to go with your meal, especially if they're freshly made!! On my first visit, I had to wait five minutes for a fresh batch, and it was well worth the wait. For dessert, the baklava is perfectly flaky and not overly sweet. The restaurant is nicely decorated and clean and has an okay amount of seating, but I wouldn't recommend dining in with a large group (more than 4). Great for takeout.
Great new addition to the Broadway shopping center here in Walnut Creek food scene. Awesome staff members who treat you as a regular even though it's your first time walking in the door. Very warm, welcoming atmosphere and smiles also they were very accommodating. The owner himself even comes out and checks on you to answer any questions and to make sure you're happy with the food and service. We had a bowl and a wrap. This place is so good! It's pretty much a Mediterranean chipotle! Already been twice and will be back for sure! I've tried the chicken and the lamb and they're pretty good! Only tried the bowls here, but love how all the flavors complement each other. Each bite is zesty and aromatic.
I was so excited to experience Sala after seeing many things about it. The line was a bit intimidating on a Sunday afternoon, but the line went faster than I thought! For my bowl, I got the saffron rice and lettuce as my base with chicken as my protein. I got an array of other goodies including dips (hummus, tzatziki, and muhammara), pickled cucumber, pickled onion, tabbouleh, balila, and dressings (creamy garlic and classic tahini). It was super filling and yummy! Cool how you can make your own combo of items to your liking! The seasonal lemonade (didn't ask the flavor) was refreshing and tart! Everyone helping us was super kind despite how busy it was. One server even let my partner sample the beef since he was super indecisive. Let me just say the beef was SUPER tender; made me regret not getting it myself. I can't wait to be back! I also would love to know if the meats are halal as I would love to recommend Sala to my friends who follow a halal diet.

Line was long at 2pm on a Sunday, but still got a table to sit There is limited seating inside but also have some outside. Staff was patient and quick! Food was delicious and warm. I got the spicy harissa and it was a nice warm heat. Food was fresh. Can't wait to go back again! would be a good take out place.
SOOOOO GOOD!! Been hearing about this place all over social media. Everyone saying that this is a cava dupe but I thought it tasted better than cava! Inside had plenty of seating. There was seating outside too! We built our own bowls. Everything is labeled for vegan/GF... so delicious! We ordered a side of pita chips and it was so warm and seasoned well. We also got some housemade lemonade. It was a bit more on sour side but still good. I will definitely return here in the future. 100000/10
Located right in downtown Walnut Creek and close walking distance from the mall. Parking can be challenging with two parking garages near by. Food line does move fast but with every new place a wait would be expected. Lots of choices such as signature bowls, wraps, make your own. portions are smaller compared to other similar restaurants. Only able to get three sauces vs unlimited. Toppings are capped too. For price and taste id say 3.5 stars . More can be desired.
A very welcome addition to the Walnut Creek dining scene. I've been around the block with Mediterranean fast casual and I can confidently say this is the real deal. (Note I am vegetarian so can only provide context on those dishes) Food: Exceptional. You could tell the food was very freshly made and prepared. This is often the downfall of other Mediterranean places I've been to. Key is that the falafel balls here were fresh, moist (and not dry). Also the flavor combination of the Mezze market bowl was divine. Portion size was very generous. Also tried the baklava- though it's not made in house- was very delicious. House made lemonade was very good as well. Note that they also have wraps but were not serving them yet during the soft opening when I was there. Ambiance: Thoughtful decor and lighting which makes for a warm and elegant vibe though it is an unpretentious casual spot- my young kids were with me. Service: Owner was there and was very attentive. He let us sample some items like Turkish delight- very generous. It was soft opening so some of the other employees were not as well versed yet on the menu but some modest training will help I'm sure. Look forward to going back soon as I love to see this diversity of food in WC so want to support it.
As someone who loves Cava, I was delighted to find out that there is a restaurant with a similar concept nearby that is 100% halal, seed oil free, and locally owned. Sala just opened recently and I had to try it asap. I went with a bowl and got a side of pita and their creamy garlic sauce. The food tastes homemade. They use fresh ingredients and you can absolutely tell. Very friendly staff. They gave me good recommendations and even let me try some of the meats beforehand. I highly recommend Sala if you're in the area.
My son and I came here for dinner. It was delish! I am so full! My son ordered the Mezze Market and I ordered the Falafel Souk. Also ordered the strawberry lemonade and some delight candy. My falafel bowl was delish. I asked to get three of the sauces as I wanted to try them. All three (spicy harissa, hummus and tzatziki) were delish. My son liked the spicy one more. The bowls are a nice size, I am still very full. Nice protein portion. Th saffron rice was delish. Got my greens too and added some beets. I loved the Saffron delight while my son liked the pistachio delight more. All was great. Service was quick. We were starving and there was no waiting for food. Kind of pick as you go if want anything additional added to the bowl. The service was great from beginning to end. We were welcomed as soon as we enter and they thanked us for visiting. My servers offered to let him know if I wanted to try anything as it was my first time. They had several lemonades. Staff recommended the strawberry and it did not disappoint. I finished it all aside not always finishing my drinks. The tables were clean. There's booth and table seating looking out. Large windows. It's a nice large place.

I had such a great experience thanks to Asad. Everyone was so nice but Asad made my experience so enjoyable. He was incredibly patient and kind. He never made me feel rushed and explained everything clearly with a positive attitude. It's rare to come across a manager who truly cares about providing excellent customer service. My experience here on August 7 was fantastic. My sisters and I went here for lunch. We all made our own bowls, I can't remember how my sisters did theirs, but I remember how I did mine. I started off with saffron rice as the base, roasted eggplant, tzatziki and hummus as sides, lamb for the meat, tomato and cucumber, pickled onions, pickled cucumber, feta cheese, olives, creamy garlic and Greek dressing to finish it off. We also got a mint lemonade and seasonal strawberry lemonade too. The workers there are very friendly too. Service was smooth and solid. And other people were eating here too. It wasn't super packed, but it was smooth sailing. The environment inside is nice and pleasant, especially when shoppers in Walnut Creek need a lunch break. Overall, I will come back here again for my build your own Mediterranean bowl fix. :) read more

New must try restaurant in Walnut Creek!! They are still in their soft opening phase but i already came here multiple times and each time is so good. The owners and staff are super nice and welcoming. And the place is clean, modern, and aesthetic, especially for a quick service! I always get a bowl and every bowl I get is super fresh, flavorful, and filling. You seriously cannot go wrong with any of the choices. Their baklava is soooo good too, you need to get it if you come here! Highly recommend checking this place out and will definitely be coming back read more

Alright Instagram, you got me. After many influential reels, I needed something fresh in this 90 degree weather. My parter is gluten free/celiac and it's necessary we pick places that can accommodate her. Tons of GF labels. The employees were personable and cracking jokes with us, all so friendly. An older lady started bothering the cashier about how they don't have a compost and the cashier handled it eloquently. The falafel was fluffy like a cloud! All the sauces were delicious. My lady said the lamb melted in her mouth. What seemed to be the manager came around to ask how the food was, and all I could give him was a little dance. My bowl after tax came to be around $20, which for how FRESH it was, totally worth it. Local competitors are not as fresh, and more expensive. So happy to have this new place, welcome to Walnut Creek! read more

My absolute favorite Mediterranean spot. I'm a very slow eater, but here the meat is so tender I actually scarf down my bowl in record time. I love to frequent Sala after the gym because it's such a quick and healthy meal with so many protein options. With all the sauces and sides, it doesn't get tiring. They're very generous with the portions, and about half the time I've come here, the manager has randomly given my boyfriend and I free desserts and drinks. A great place to have a meal with friends because it's casual, in a great location, and has tons of seating. read more

A new Mediterranean place in town so I figured I would try it. My friend and I decided to order bowls which I went with the Santorini bowl that was already created. The beef that came with the bowl was very tender and flavorful and the vegetables were fresh. The bowl itself is pretty filling and we both ordered mint lemonades to quench our thirst. The mint lemonade was the perfect amount of sweetness with mint flavor. My friend ordered their pita chips and I thought it was pretty pricey for what seemed like a few chips. Some items had a coming soon so I'm sure more they are still working on having a complete menu. The inside is pretty plain and simple with booths and tables with outdoor seating. The employees were super nice and I will definitely return to have simple and clean food. read more

Honestly, I enjoyed it even more than Cava. I ordered the Mezze Market Bowl, and it tasted super fresh and hearty. The portions were generous too. I liked that you can either fully customize your own bowl with the ingredients you want or choose one of their premade bowl options if you're not sure what to get. The staff was really friendly and patient while we were figuring out what to order on our first visit, which I appreciated. The space was clean, modern, and nicely decorated. I've driven by this place many times but never had the chance to stop in until today. I was looking for something quick and decided to give it a try. I've been to several similar concepts before and honestly haven't been very impressed, so I wasn't sure what to expect. The moment I walked in, I noticed there wasn't a single seat available, which already told me this place was doing something right. The atmosphere was bright, welcoming, and comfortable--it genuinely felt like walking into someone's kitchen. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. They offered a wide variety of options to mix and match. I chose the chicken and falafel as my proteins, and they even offered me a little cauliflower to try with my meal, which was a nice touch. I also ordered the mint lemonade, which was refreshing and delicious. As for the food--wow. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The chicken was juicy, clean-tasting, and packed with flavor. The falafel were outstanding: crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and clearly made fresh. The hummus was creamy and delicious, the babaganoush was excellent, and the tzatziki tasted wonderfully authentic. What really stood out was the attention to detail. The staff were constantly cleaning and taking care of the dining area, and as I was leaving, I believe the owner personally asked how my meal was. That level of hospitality made the experience even more memorable. Overall, this place is a solid 10/10. Delicious food, welcoming service, a clean and inviting atmosphere, and genuine hospitality. Love their menu! Went here for a birthday lunch. You fix your bowl to your liking. Food was delicious. I also had their basil mint lemonade which was excellent. Service was relatively quick n easy. The ambiance was ok except it's very small inside with a few tables so not much room for seating and dining. The spot inside is very tight and limited for space. Overall the food was really good so I will be back. I had mixed bowl with chicken and lamb. Remind me of a place I visited in Spain called Honest Greens. The food was fresh and healthy!! I loved it. What initially enticed my friends and I to try this place was that we enjoy Cava. When we heard about Sala, we knew we had to give it a try! The food was delicious, flavorful and there was a great variety of ingredients. I ordered a bowl with chicken, rice, and arugula, and asked the staff for their recommendations on toppings and sauces. I ended up going with their suggestions, and they did not disappoint! At around $18 for a bowl, it's not the cheapest lunch, but the portion was very generous. It was so filling that I only ate about half and saved the rest for later. Overall, the food was great, the service was helpful and friendly, and the location is convenient. Place is very clean and welcoming! The staff were friendly and patient as there are lots of options! I did a build your own bowl which was huge and delicious! The sauces were so flavorful and the dips as well! I did falafel and lamb, which the falafel was perfect and not dry at all. Came here on my lunch break. It's very nicely decorated inside. It is a chipotle style type of ordering which is nice because you can customize what you want. Service was quick. They were super nice and helpful and allowed me to try the different sauces, dips and sides since they are new. I got the Mezze Market bowl which I liked all of the ingredients inside. The style of bowl reminded me of Nick the Greek, but not as flavorful. It is not anywhere as good as Cava. Overall I couldn't quite put my finger on why it was just okay. The ingredients were all fresh but the flavors weren't as flavorful as other places. I have been back few times because I still like it as a healthier quick option for lunch. read more

My bf and I came in the other day for the first time. The flavor and quality was definitely there but lack of protein just doesn't justify the cost in our eyes. The bowl would be amazing for a vegetarian but if you're looking for a well rounded meal with enough actual protein, probably look elsewhere. My bf got 1/2 chicken and 1/2 beef, the total amount of meat was probably 1-2 oz total which is a little absurd considering the price for a bowl. We've probably been here five or six times now, and every visit has been fantastic. Everything is fresh, clean, and healthy. The flavors are always on point--nothing is dry or bland. The pita chips are in a league of their own. On top of that, the portions are generous, and the price is very reasonable for the amount of food you get. It's an excellent value and a place we keep coming back to. read more
