This has been a staple to stop in anytime of the week for myself and my family. First off, the staff is top notch. They remember you, and are extremely pleasant. My 5 yr old daughter and I like stopping in for "ladies lunch" occasionally, and love the sofa on the patio. The bar is great for friends meet-up or a date day/eve. Best craft cocktails and amazing choice of beer/wine. Ciders are seasonal...which is fun. Food is on-point and always fresh. You can tell they don't just throw food on your plate off a Cisco truck, they actually make they're own brined veggies, the sliders are substantial (great meats), tacos are super yummy (great selection) and the fries are amazing. Downtown Lafayette has plenty of great food options to choose from and this is definitely among them. My partner and I visited during their late night happy hour which starts at 8 PM (just one hour before closing). We decided to do a pretty full tasting of all of the happy hour items as well as a couple of cocktails. The falafel was pretty good but not amazing. The hummus underneath had a great thick and coarse texture which I loved. The pickled radishes were a nice touch and the falafel's were crispy on the outside but the actual "crust" was a bit too thick for my liking and the consistency of each falafel varied and there could be a little bit more space inside of them. Rating: 3/5 The Nashville slider was good but the bun quickly became soft and the chicken could have been crispier. Rating: 3/5 The taquitos were dressed up nicely but the ratio of filling to tortilla was off (not enough filling) and I believe that they were a bit over fried. The tacos are flavorful and better than I expected for a restaurant with such a varied menu. Rating: 4/5. I'm very glad we asked for two orders of those. Cocktails: Last Word w/Mezcal. This was a refreshing drink and very well balanced. I'm a huge fan of "flips" and - as long as you don't mind the raw egg whites - I think you'll be a big fan too. Rating 8/10. Serrano Mi Hermosa (substitute Mezcal instead of tequila). This drink had plenty of spice to it and asking for mezcal instead of tequila added another layer of complexity to the drink as well as the smokingess that I adore. Each sip of this cocktail was enjoyable and the rocksalt was not only aesthetic but really complemented the drink as well in terms of adding another layer of flavor. 10/10 Service: The service was top notch. Both bartenders were extremely friendly and the food came out remarkably quick. The bartenders were knowledgeable and understood "service" really well in both their technical abilities to craft high-quality cocktails as well as their abilities to provide a pleasant and congenial atmosphere. Went here on a random Thursday night during their late night happy hour from 8pm-close which requires you to sit at the bar. Showed up at 8:15pm and there were plenty of seats available. We ordered a variety of appetizers to try. - Street tacos (2) for $6 - Falafel bites $6 - Nashville hot slider $6 - Borracho taquitos (4) for $7 As for the drannnks we ordered - Serrano Mi Hermano (we subbed the tequila for mezcal) - Last word w/ mezcal The street tacos were flavorful and contained a generous portion of protein. The taco is pretty basic; it comes standard with chicken, onion, and cilantro. At $6 for 2 tacos I feel like this is a pretty standard cost for street tacos. 4/5 The falafel bites were a bit disappointing to me. The outside crust was too hard and the flavor was so-so. The hummus and tzatziki were just okay, nothing about this wowed me. 2/5 The Nashville hot slider was good, but I wish the bun was crispier. I find $6 for one slider to be overpriced. 3/5 The taquitos were really good and dressed up w/ cumin crema & cotija cheese. $7 for $4 is an ok price for this. 4/5 As for the drinks, 5/5 !!! Absolutely delicious. It took me way too long to decide what I wanted bc they had SO many fun options. They opened for business in 2018 and immediately became my favorite place for sandwiches and drinks, 5 star variety of burger options along with several salads. Their milkshakes were excellent as were other dessert choices. Quite a unique decor and ambiance both inside and patio. Fast forward post pandemic and this is a totally different place. Batch and Brine is a family restaurant. We actually came here to watch the SF play the Dallas Cowboys. I chose to come here because we saw that they have Happy Hour 3-5 every day. It was a perfect place to watch a game (they had 5 TVs placed around the restaurant). Their Happy Hour menu had good prices, with 8 items to choose from, and they also discounted their alcoholic drinks. My partner got a flight of 5 beers for $15 that he really enjoyed. Since I don't like beer, he included a delicious Hemly Peri in our flight. I got 4 Borracho Taquitos with a yummy Cumin Crema, and my partner had their Sliders. We also enjoyed their Sweet Potato Fries for $5. After half time, I got their Chocolate Pudding with whipped cream on top. I just about licked the jar that it was served in. Went for early dinner/late lunch on a Saturday & got seated right away. Was pleasantly surprised to see they had Fieldworks beer. My husband liked the Mexican lager. The philly sandwich cheese came on the side rather than melted in like we're used to, but was still pretty good. Whew so I have been eyeing this place on Instagram so I bookmarked it on Yelp waiting for the day when we were in the area. Today, my husband surprised me and took me here for lunch. I had the grown up grilled cheese with a side salad and a mai tai to drink. My husband had the duck BanhMi sandwich with a kale salad. Our food and drink was to die for. My husband then asked if we wanted to split dessert so we did and ordered the pumpkin praline cheesecake. Let me just say everything was perfect from the meal, to service to ambiance. After having such a good experience a few days ago, we brought a friend to check it out for brunch. Once again, such an amazing experience. (For reference, Brunch is Sat/Sun 10a-3p) We started with the scotch egg-- it was very unique! Soft boiled egg wrapped in falafel on a bed of hummus. I got the fried chicken sandwich (with hot Nashville chicken) since it is what the restaurant is known for-- the fried chicken was amazing. I loved the texture, flavor, and little kick of spice, but overall I felt the sandwich was missing something flavor wise and I probably wouldn't order it again. The garlic/parm fries were PERFECT. My husband ordered the Philly and liked it, but felt the cheese was too rich for him. His pastrami fries were amazing-- apparently, the owner brought the pastrami recipe from New York and it is made by them. Our friend ordered the Brie burger and loved it, but his favorite part were the bbq pork fries. For drinks we had the Bloody Mary (amazing-- the vodka is infused with cucumber!) and mimosa (also great). Service was once again amazing. Everyone we interacted with went above and beyond. 12/15/23 Well, it's one of those Noun + And + Noun restaurants, so I think you kinda get a sense of how it will be, and whatever you're thinking from their name, yes, that's what it indeed is. Food's 'aight. Not good. Edible. Service... pretty good though. 1. Duck Confit Mega Mac $17 "toasted bread crumbs and green onions": I've had some wild interpretations of "mac and cheese" over the years. It's just about the 2nd most hipstered food at these noun + noun restaurants, 2nd only to the burger, but maaaaaan.......... this one really has ZERO resemblance to mac. Like really, NONE. I got this for my kid who's ultra picky (and if you know me, that kinda implies we don't share genes), and THANK GOD he was okay with it being basically lightly oiled shell pasta. And he didn't bother eating the "duck confit" on top, which basically was similar to fried pulled chicken. Cheese?--nope. I mean, maybe under the microscrope... but maybe that's why the name does not actually have the word? At least the shell pasta was properly al dente. 3/10 2. Au Poivre (Burger) $21 "peppercorn crust, butter onions, seared mushrooms, swiss, green peppercorn demi sauce": So, the waiter asked how I wanted it so of course I replied, "medium." And you also know me--if I say anything, it's the truth. "Well, it's well done," with just a touch of RAGE. Couldn't hide it I guess. He didn't really have a response haha--I think just wondering uh...... this not good situation. A few minutes later a manager was at my table and apologized. Said he'd take it off the ticket and he offered to cook me a new one. I was in a super rush so I told him it's all good, I gotta go, so that was that. As for the burger itself, yeah, not much to say about it. I didn't like the meat either, even for well done--I dunno what they used, but it was rubbery and just didn't have good texture. The au poivre sauce was really good though--super flavorful, with just the right amount of peppercorns. 3/10 3. Kid's Chicken Tenders $9: Tasted like fried frozen tenders. Crispy though. The kale Caesar gets better with each bite. First you start off with an abundance of breadcrumbs and Parmesan cheese and then you get a lightly dressed but equally balanced kale salad. The grown up grilled cheese.... There's nothing to say besides get it. It's a savory sandwich with lightly toasted rye bread that had a nice crunch when you bite into it. The cheese is a great balance to the somewhat fatty and well seasoned short rib. Personally, I could've done without the tomato (since it made one slice of bread soggy) and also the caramelized onions- they didn't taste like much. The Nashville hot chicken was very delicious, but it just wasn't hot. The loaded fries were good, all the ingredients complimented each other, and there were multiple layers of flavors in each bite. The strawberry shortcake was mm mm good. Light and refreshing. The biscuit was fluffy, the ice cream was a rich vanilla and the strawberries were just right. They do have a Yelp waitlist but came in on a Saturday afternoon for brunch and was seated right away for a party of 5. Inside decor was rustic and looked clean. Staff is friendly and attentive. We got: cucumber cooler mocktail, good but a little tart, refreshing but wouldn't get again 5/10 chicken and waffle bites, these were good and bigger than we thought they'd be. Good crisp, the highlight was the gravy 6/10 Cajun crab benny, tasty, good hollandaise, flavorful 8/1 Nashville chicken loco moco, really good. Chicken was battered and fried well. Again, the gravy was the highlight. Could've used a Mac salad or maybe some kind of slaw to keep with the theme. 9/10 burger with duck confit and cheese fries. Good butt the burger was very messy. Whereas we used to frequent a place in Walnut Creek (rhymes with Stoddricks), I don't know why we would ever go there again when Batch & Brine is here. Why? ***The Food: It's literally top notch, not to mention inventive. I had the "Blue" which was whipped blue, arugula, fig jam and candied bacon on a pretzel bun. What a combination! And I switched out my burger patty for an impossible patty which was no problem. ***The Drinks: I had a Tokyo Drift which was Japanese whiskey, yuzu, shiso and plum bitters. It was literally the best cocktail I've had probably this year. I can't think of a time where I was so impressed with a cocktail. ***Outdoor dining: Their outdoor area is large and they have a good amount of heaters spread throughout. Brunch with the kiddies today. We were going to get chicken and waffles from Albatross but wanted to go for a little drive. So, we came to Lafayette to get the chicken and waffles at Batch and Brine. My son had the chilequiles which we devoured in 2 minutes. He said that they were very tasty. He is very particular about chilequiles and said these were a 5 out of 5 because of the flavor, texture with the ample chips, and healthy serving of the verde sauce. My daughter had the pastrami hash. They said it was okay and not sure if they would eat it again. I also had the pastrami hash with eggs over easy. I loved the flavor of the rye bread. The Bloody Mary was the best thing here! I loved that it had lemon juice in it. I would order it again! The chicken and waffles were very enjoyable with the honey butter and hot sauce. read more

We ordered the street tacos and kale salad from the happy hour menu, and the impossible burger with sweet potato fries. Everything was delicious! I will say the street tacos were on the smaller side, but the tomatillo salsa they came with was good. The sweet potato fries were my favorite out of all the food. They have a nice outdoor seating area with heaters, as well as a cute fireplace for drinks or just hanging out. Would definitely recommend, and will be back soon to enjoy the fireplace! read more

Had a wonderful experience. Stopped by for the first time after discovering them during the local Art & Wine festival, and so glad I did! We were seated in the outside lounge. We were served by Steven. He is the best. TO EAT: We had the duck confit bahn mi and the rib eye grilled cheese. Both worth every calorie. However, be forewarned that the torpedo roll will get soggy if you don't eat it quickly. TO DRINK: We had the Paper Plane and Sazerac to start. We ended with the Serrano Margarita and the Sangria. My husband and I came here on a date while our children stayed at home (thanks Mom!) and were delighted by our experience at Batch & Brine. The atmosphere: great! They seated us at the perfect table and even put on my husband's favorite sports team on the TV. The food: Crispy. Tender. Flavorful.
