Everyplace I walked, there was a blend of past and present. PlayStation 4 & 5 games, alongside rows of nostalgia that ranged in clothes, toys, accessories, movies, you name it. This store embodies 90s pop culture, and not the hip hop side, but more the alternative (which is what I felt more represented me). I found a dvd I've been looking for months, in just a matter of minutes. The movies are all alphabetized, yo! It's like a thrift store, but so much more. I didn't expect to make $100 or anything, but I figured $20 at least. So, now I needed to go back and get my $6 really I went back for my bag, it cost me more in gas to going back and forth then they gave me. Turned out to be 37 DVD's in total that I gave them. I would can't call it selling being they only gave me .16 cents apiece for them. Will not go back to sell anything. Too much work for too little reward.

Cal's is a 25-minute drive for me, and after multiple times driving over during their posted business hours only to find a "Closed for lunch, back at 3" type of sign on the door at 1:00 or 1:30, I will not be trying anymore. Cal's posted business hours are from 10:00am to 5:00pm. 7 hours that they are posted as being open to the public. Nonetheless, they apparently take half or more of those afternoon hours off for a lunch break every day. Not only have I been unable to go inside during their business hours, but I cannot even get through on the phone to find out when (or if) they plan to actually be there. Phone calls during business hours just go to voicemail. It's a shame that the oldest bookstore in the area with the largest, and possibly best selection of books, doesn't appear to be owned by someone who wants to actually work the store. I've been so excited each time to go in, but so far, it's been nothing but a waste of gas and time with each attempt ending in disappointment. How they're financially keeping their doors open at this point is beyond me. They're never available for anyone to buy anything! I've since learned I'm not the only one who has experienced this lately, nor am I the only one who is feeling frustrated by the owner's lack of professionalism. They appear to not even open on some posted business days, and take long, random lunch breaks on others. There have been other cars sitting there for who knows how long, waiting on them to return when I have tried going. Others, like me, see the sign that they are closed for some hours, and leave looking disappointed. I will continue to give the other local bookstores my business, but I will not be wasting any more time or gas driving out to Cal's. Cal's - please update your posted business hours to save people their gas and time of driving over when you have no intention of being there. Either that or maybe just be there when you are advertised as being open.

I remember as a kid I was an avid reader,but for some reason I thought comic books were really lame…read morebecause they weren't real books.They were just pictures with a few words and wasn't even close to what I was doing knocking out multiple books in a week. Sometime in my 30s though that all changed.As I got older,I came to appreciate the high quality of the medium,in regards to being able to have such complex stories work with such high quality artwork. So I started collecting comics and became a frequent customer to A-1 Comics in Roseville located on Sunrise Avenue. The top two things I love about this location are as follows. -Their employees really give excellent customer service.They are very helpful in assisting the customers in finding whatever they are looking for. A-1 has two other locations in the Sacramento area and multiple times I've been in Roseville and they were sold out of what I was looking for and they took it upon themselves to call their other locations to check if they had what I wanted-that's excellent customer service. -Second thing that truly stands out for me about A-1 is they aren't cheap on inventory-every week when new releases come out,they always have plenty of copies so that as many customers as possible have a good opportunity to get the issues they want-not all comic shops do this-others keep such limited inventory that they sell out too fast-A-1 rarely lets that happen. This Roseville location pretty much has its own parking lot,so there's always has plenty of parking available for its customers. In closing, I really do recommend this shop for all your comic needs-it's a pretty awesome place filled with pretty awesome employees and I always look forward to heading back out there.

I ended up buying a few packs of Japanese Pokemon cards because they had a few different kinds at a good price. They seemed relieved when they asked if I was ok with Japanese cards and I said "Oh yeah, I mostly just like the cool art on the cards". I think they probably see a lot of resellers or people trying to score high value cards. I do love a good holo, but as someone who grew up with Pokemon I more like just looking at the cards and seeing some of my favorites.
