Today was my first time and here, and no store (or anything, for that matter) has ever made me miss the 90s more than the time I spent in here. Everyplace I walked, there was a blend of past and present. PlayStation 4 & 5 games, alongside rows of nostalgia that ranged in clothes, toys, accessories, movies, you name it. This store embodies 90s pop culture, and not the hip hop side, but more the alternative (which is what I felt more represented me). I found a dvd I've been looking for months, in just a matter of minutes. The movies are all alphabetized, yo! It's like a thrift store, but so much more. While hanging out in Folsom the other day, my husband and I decided to visit The Cave to see if we could expand our growing Funko Pop collection. I really liked that the Folsom location had a way bigger selection of Funko Pops than the Arden location. There is so much stuff to look through in general at this location, since it's roomier. I specifically scoured the shelves for some Funko Pops to take home, and came across the cutest Jurassic World one (shown below) that I just needed to buy. I also discovered a beautiful Elvis Funko, but that one I decided to hold off on for now. My husband bought a Mewtwo Funko as well (not shown). Most of the Funkos were in really good condition. There was a Stranger Things Funko that I really wanted but alas the previous owner had damaged the box. From a collector's standpoint, the prices are fair. Of course this location had other collectibles and items for sale, such as clothes, records, and whatnot. I've got plenty of records at home and only want to purchase very specific records these days, so I didn't really bother to look in their record aisles. The staff were friendly and chill. I will definitely return to check for more Funko Pops in the near future! read more

I used to love going to the Cave when it first opened. Now..... They don't greet people when customers come in or are browsing around. Most the the employees look at customers like they could not be bothered to assist or have a polite attitude. The place has become chaotic, stuff just thrown wherever they deem will fit. It did not feel welcomed, I felt when they looked at me like I was trash and should not be allowed in their store. And now for their prices...... I can understand setting princes based on the item..... but 90% of the items inside are all used and resold. Yet, they are charging all items like they are a regular store that gets brand new inventory. When I asked they said they price it from ebay..... so in fact they are taking the highest sold price on an item that is excellent condition and putting it on the price of the same item that has been used and worn-out. I had gone to the Cave store earlier in the day, in Roseville that is larger and found they were selling items at good prices. It really hurts to have to make a review like this, but it must be known or it may not change. If you want to have a good experience just go to the one in Roseville. read more

A close friend told me that I could find what my kiddo was looking for here, so I was happy to try to avoid Christmas traffic and save a trip down to Arden mall. The last time I went there was only music, and I thought the Roseville store didn't have them either. But this place is an utter nightmare. I asked the young man at the counter about the two figures ai was looking for, and he gave me a grifter smile and told me to turn around and look. I assume he menat that I should look around, but this place is a pigsty. There is suff piled on top of each other, and it was only then that I realized the entire store smelled like old dirty carpet. I love The Cave and I love that the Folsom location is in the old Dimple Records building, keeping its roots, and that legacy, alive. They have a huge selection of everything you could ever want. I have scored some serious gems at this location. Also, their staff is genuinely great. They're fun and helpful and not snarky hipsters. The only Achilles heel to The Cave is a serious lack of organization. I mean, I get it. You go into The Cave to dig for treasures but not all of us are 17 with an endless amount of time on our hands. The Cave is doing a great job of keeping the record store alive and well in our digital age of streaming and I would 10/10 recommend. read more

Showed up while giving my dear a tour of Folsom. Record selections good , she decided to get an Earth Wind and Fire one. CDs were a bit low stock but I got a zingy Marley one for 5. The thrift side of clothes is interesting they have all styles. Sports gear was something that perhaps they could use a bit of research, I got a 20 dollar soccer jersey from a team in Costa Rica, made by the brand kappa. Interesting place. They have some of the widest selection of any similar place I have been to, but that does come at the cost of quality assurance. Products are largely second hand, so this is not strange nor is it a deal breaker. Prices are a bit high for some things, but you can find great deals here if you take your time. Not much point in commenting on the staff; it is varied each time you go in. Different folks and circumstances; neither good nor bad at the end of the day. 5 stars for being a decent business and an interesting place to go do some window shopping. I was really excited to come up on these two records just to find out that the wrong records were inside of them. One of them was even in a plastic wrap. I called to see if there was some way to get a refund over the phone and unfortunately, that's not possible. While I could have accepted that, the person I spoke with over the phone was dismissive and said "Mhm there's nothing we can do over the phone. Sorry about that, I hope your day gets better". I personally love all of the cave locations, and the stores in general so I might be a bit biased but the customer service is good the selection is good some things are listed a bit pricey but because of quality the only I do have to say is they don't really offer you what you're stuff is worth sometimes when making trades but overall pretty good read more

If you're a collector of physical media (CDs, records, video games, movies etc), I recommend checking this place out. The store is huge. They carry anime merch, Japanese snacks, some anime and video game blind boxes, and of course, tons of action figures (used and new) from various anime, video games, and 80s and 90s cartoons. It can be overwhelming to look at everything but at the same time can be a lot of fun just looking at all the older stuff. It's like a comic and anime store mixed with a music record store. They also sell second hand clothing but I found the selection to be underwhelming for women. If you're looking for vintage brands this isn't the place. I did manage to get something here from my favorite Y2K brand so that was nice. The staff was friendly and nice. read more

This place is aptly named the Cave. The decor is a time warp to a typical teenage boys bedroom in the 1980s in a John Hughes movie. They got gently used vinyl, CDs, DVDs, gaming, movie posters, props, clothes, cosplay costumes, shoes, animated action figures, comic books, collectible toys, stuffed animals, playing cards.... blah blah blah. Complete with a bit of disorganization, messiness, and mugginess. I spotted a He Man, Lieutenant Barkley Star Trek Next Generation, and Lisa Left Eye Lopes action figures in its original packaging. A blast from the past. I left them on the shelf though. So go on in and get them. Hubs bought some vinyl records. The vinyls are not in a particular order, not by genre or alphabetical by artist. So pack some patience while going through the stacks. This place is worth checking out when you are on the hunt for the rare hard to find oldies. Very rude customer service, I asked to look at some shoes they had in stock the reply I got was "you can't go back there but somebody can help you out". I waited for a bit and decided to leave because no one was trying to help me out. There were 4 employees behind the counter either on the phone or behind a computer. Will not be returning and do not recommend this place to anyone. Linsey was the employee that gave me that response. I understand if you're in the middle of something and ask me to wait for a few minutes but brushing off a customer to someone else is very unprofessional. It is overpriced if you are looking to actually make a purchase here. I do like that they have something for everyone here though. I found some really cool vintage Bratz dolls that I am interested in wanting. Although they are slightly over-priced. I understand that these collectibles are vintage but I agree with others on here..their prices are truly outrageous. I can find the same deals online Mercari or Facebook Marketplace. Selling here isn't bad though. I have taken some items and they give an (okay) decent cash offer that I've accepted. I live out of town but I still would come back to sell again. read more

When I heard my beloved new and used Books, DVD and CD store Dimple Records had been closing I was devastated. I collect Movies and TV sets, as well as Harry Potter Books so it pays to save and they had the best deals with buy backs included. Once I came in with a whole laundry basket full of DVDS and later books to sell. Driving by the other day I noticed the sign "The Cave" and on Sunday my boyfriend and I stopped by to check it out. It turns out the son of the cofounders that opened Dimple Records in the 70's started up The Cave! When you walk in it instantly takes you back, It's the same concept as Dimple Records only bigger and better! They have an entire section of Comic books which line the wall, clothing, purses, shoes, toys, collectibles and of course DVDS, Video Games and Vinyls. Behind the registers the walls were also lined with posters and characters that remind us of what we enjoyed in our childhoods! Ah brings back memories, including a huge Beaker from the Muppet Show, pretty amazing! We were pressed for time so I didn't have a whole lot of time to peruse around the store, but I did purchase a nice top for New Years for get this.. $3.99, what a steal! I would highly recommend paying a visit to this store, the cashier mentioned they are in the process of setting up a rewards program as well! Funny story, my wife suggested that we watch a classic movie called "Bachelor Party" that came out the same year I was born, lol. Well, come to find out, in a world of streaming services, we couldn't locate this title for anything!!!! Finally, it became an all-out hunt to track it down. I called stores from Escalon to the Bay Area, trying to find a copy. Nada. We were almost giving up hope until I found a place on Yelp called 'the Cave'..... I thought, well, this place sounds interesting. This is in July of 2021. I called first to not waste a trip; they put me on a brief hold and then came back, "Yes, we have it." I asked again, are you SURE? ...... Yup. Holy ********.....well, I guess we're driving to Folsom. And sure enough, there it was. By the end of this quick trip, we left with like $50 worth of merchandise ranging from toys, CDs, DVDs, energy drinks.... It was mildly reminiscent of when I used to work for Blockbuster, and I miss that store vibe! We will definitely be returning guests in the future. read more

My hubby and I were big fans of Dimple, so we were happy to find out that The Cave existed. It has everything that Dimple had and more. Packed wall to wall with pretty much every collectible thing out there. Recently I bought my husband a record player so we were looking for records. The Cave has a pretty big collection. They also have a ton of Funko Pops and fun collectible toys. My only gripe (my husbands actually) is that all of their comics are in cabinets and they are very hard to find what you are looking for. With that being said---they also have a lot of comics! Great place, lots of employees willing to answer questions. Only thing I have to complain about is that when you sell your clothes you don't get that much money from it and then you see the same item selling for way more than what they paid you for it. This place is okay. I came here during my trip to Sacramento. It's basically a place where people take their old stuff and the store sells it. These were probably donations that people made. They have a lot of old and vintage stuff as well as some new stuff. They have vinyl records, VHS, old Star Wars figures, and other toys, clothes, gothic stuff, posters, CDs, basically everything you would remember from 30 years ago. It was fun looking at all this stuff and remembering how it used to be growing up in the 90s. I thought that prices were somewhat high for the used stuff they were selling. I like to stop here from time to time because I'm local in the area. I like quirky shops like this for I used to work at one in the bay area during my college days. Today's visit was to sell, because I'm doing some spring cleaning and will be moving soon. Less stuff to haul around the better. I came in and was greeted by staff as soon as I walked in. I did my normal sweep around the store. If I wasn't moving I did see a couple things I wouldn't mind picking up. It's not every day you see a Neo Geo AES cart with case in the wild, yet alone in Folsom. I went up to the front desk and inquired about trade ins. I was told to go ahead and bring them in. I brought my goods to the trade counter where I was met with the employee handling trades. They greeted me and they asked me what I was bringing in along with a simple form for me to fill out and sign. I dropped my stuff off and was told they would text me when the offer is ready. Works for me for I live relatively close to the store, but your milage may vary, so keep that in mind. My turn around time for today's trade was roughly about an hour. I came back after I got my text and was greeted by the trade desk. I informed them that I got the offer. I opted for the cash offer and the manager on hand came in to have me sign the rest of the paperwork and then cashed me out. The process was pretty painless. Could I have made more money if I sold the stuff myself? Yes, but given that I am in the process of decluttering and moving, I can't wait for something to sell. Plus I don't want to deal with processing fees, shipping, and all the issues that happens with that. This was quick(er) and easy. My one gripe: Just wish the store was organized better. Especially the toys on top of shelves and racks. If I had an easier time looking for stuff I would likely spend more in the store. Presentation is everything. read more

Thank. Freaking. Goodness. For this place! When Dimple closed, it hit me pretty hard. Being a music lover and also a child of the 80s, it's been hard for me to grasp the streaming music. Don't get me wrong, I do it. But I would much rather pick out my favorite CD to put on. It's no secret that actual music stores are becoming extinct and that makes me incredibly sad. I could spend hours in a store just flipping through CDs. My very first date I ever went on when I was 15, he took me CD shopping! In addition to a large music selection, they also have a nice selection of used T-shirts and clothing. A lot of really great retro toys also! Some really fun nostalgic candy and things too.
