This is probably the comic shop I've been to the most in the Sacramento area…read more It's located like 2 or 3 blocks from my work so it's super convenient. I've been coming here since probably around the year 2000. It's been a long time, I've gone through many employees, some better than others, but the one constant is the owner. The owner is a wonderful man and truly runs this shop in a way that makes the customer always feel valued. He is always so nice to his customers and I've found just about every interaction with him a positive one. He keeps a crazy selection of comics in his store and is always a very reliable place to find just about any comic you're looking for. His pricing is very good as well as he doesn't overcharge when a good book is coming out-he has always had fair honest pricing. Which probably explains why he has been in business with this shop since 1985 in various locations. If anyone is looking to start getting into comics or maybe looking for a gift for someone, this is a great trusted location and I hope they will be here for many years to come.

Would have loved for this to be my comic shop growing up.

Comics, Collectibles, Pugs, and the Coolest Bathroom…read more What a great little comic book shop. The owner was incredibly friendly, the store was spotless, and there was so much to look at. They have a huge selection of comic books, collectibles, artwork, and fun memorabilia throughout the shop. One of my favorite parts was meeting the two adorable, well-behaved pugs who were happily hanging around the store. They definitely add to the welcoming atmosphere. The walls are covered with interesting art and displays, making the entire shop feel unique and full of personality. Everywhere you look there's something fun, quirky, or nostalgic to check out. And I have to give a special shoutout to the bathroom. I don't think I've ever mentioned a comic shop bathroom in a review before, but this one was awesome. The walls were hand-painted with beautiful koi fish artwork and even included information about the artist. It felt more like a little art exhibit than a restroom. As the wife who isn't really into comic books, I also appreciated that there was a comfortable, clean waiting area where I could relax while my husband browsed. That's a small detail, but it made the experience much more enjoyable for me. Between the friendly owner, the adorable pugs, the creative artwork, the welcoming atmosphere, and the massive selection of comics and collectibles, this place is a gem. Whether you're a serious collector, a casual fan, or just tagging along with one, it's absolutely worth stopping by.

I came here looking for hot sauce and there wasn't much inventory at the time…read more. I walked around and it was a neat comic store with pugs running around and the owner (I assume) was very helpful.

Lots of stuff for my childhood, was taking me way back. My man found a super cool postcard from Balboa Park in San Diego that is over 100 years old and hand painted, we used to live there and loved it. It's a tiny bit stuffy in there is really my only beef. People that work there are very nice.

A Frightening and Unacceptable Experience at the 57th Street Antiques Mall…read more My husband and I visited The 57th Street Antiques Mall in Sacramento on October 10th. We had visited previously and genuinely enjoyed the experience, so we decided to return for another afternoon of shopping and a nice lunch. I expected to spend at least $100 on antiques and other items. Unfortunately, what we experienced this time was so disturbing that we will never return. Almost immediately after we walked through the door, a male employee began following me around the store. He was not wearing anything that identified him as an employee, so I had no idea who he was or why he was following me. The situation became genuinely frightening when he corralled me into a small booth where there was no clear way to exit. He then took a photograph of me with his phone. I cannot adequately describe how frightened I felt. I was on the verge of a panic attack, and had my husband not come into view when he did, I was so terrified that I was prepared to defend myself. I have never felt so unsafe while simply trying to shop. Unfortunately, that was not the end of the experience. Later, while examining a display of rings and considering whether any might be suitable for the book-launch gift boxes I am putting together, an exceptionally tall man approached me and stood so close behind me that I could feel his body heat against my back. This was intimidating and completely unnecessary. Meanwhile, employees appeared to be following my Asian husband around the store as though they suspected him of being a criminal. One employee moved so quickly to keep up with him that she nearly knocked over a shelf of porcelain figurines. My husband was thankfully unaware of what was happening, but watching this behavior only added to my distress. Let me be clear: customers should not have to feel intimidated, followed, cornered, photographed, or treated like criminals when they enter a business. If employees have legitimate concerns, there are professional and respectful ways to address them. Making paying customers feel threatened is not one of them. We returned because we had enjoyed our first visit. We came prepared to spend money and have a pleasant day. Instead, I left feeling frightened, unwelcome, and deeply disappointed. The saddest part is that this experience has permanently changed how I feel about a place I had previously enjoyed. I will take my business elsewhere, where I can browse in peace, feel safe, and be treated with basic courtesy and respect. The 57th Street Antiques Mall has lost our business. I would much rather spend my money at establishments where customer service means helping customers, not making them feel as though they are being watched, pursued, or accosted.

The staff is always friendly and willing to help you whenever you need it. On this particular day I arrived, and as I entered, I was welcomed in, which I appreciated. I quickly went to look for a book (Red Rising) that I had heard was a great read, and when I couldn't find it on the shelf, I went to the front door and asked the lady how it was organized and she let me know it was by theAuthor's last name. However, on the way back to the shelf, I did find it on a table on the new and hot items list. Somehow, being in a bookstore with other book lovers, you just feel a different vibe that you don't feel when you're outside of those doors. But if you're looking for a cool bookstore, I would definitely recommend coming here. You will find what you need.
