This store is one of the only places where they still sell sealed card products at MSRP. I just purchased a commander deck for MSRP here, the other local card stores were selling the deck at nearly double the price. These guys are also very helpful and knowledgeable and helpful. I talked to an employee about a commander deck I was building and he had some suggestions for me. The next time I came into the store, maybe two weeks later he remembered my name and came up to me with a couple of cards that he saved for me "just in case" I might want them in the deck we had previously talked about. Hands down the best comic store I've been to. Their selection is amazing especially for being one of the smaller locations compared to the other two stores. They have comics, manga, cards, funko pops, etc. Employees are super helpful and gave me a whole rundown of what they had when I asked. Excellent book store! They have a wider selection of books including new releases and back issues all in excellent condition! It's one of the largest comic bookstores around. other than their other 2 locations. The employee was super helpful and helped me look for a back issue when I couldn't find it. You can tell this shop is run by people who truly care about comics and their clients. Highly recommend for both casual readers and serious collectors. The prices are very reasonable. read more

Lovely staff. Good store, but man, I do NOT have good luck trying to find new books at A1. I don't know what it is about their ordering, but the last 8 books (X-men of Apocalypse, Batman Annual, Escape, etc.) I've gone to the store on release for have all been ordered low, if at all, or sold out. I end up just buying off eBay, often in the store, after striking out, but I'd love to shop local more. It's a drag. read more

Happened upon the folsom store a month back and ended up spending over an hour in there- very helpful, professional staff attractively set up store with plenty of stock. Had my kids with me. I was bopping around Folsom and spyed this comic book store. Since I had extra time on my hands, I made a beeline to this comic book shop. It is located in the shopping center in front of Lowe's on East Bidwell Street. As I walked in, the staff greeted me. They did not hover or stalk me. But they weren't very engaging either. They let me free to explore their shop. They had old "vintage" issues, Pokémon cards, board games, graphic novels, pop funko figurines& bobble heads, DD, and tons of other stuff that I was clueless about. I confess that I am not a hard core collector; I do not know the latest trends. Harley who? Poke what? Back in my childhood, I recall buying Marvel comics, Archie comics, and TMNT by Mirage Studios. So as I was rummaging through their very organized alphabetized comic stacks, I found some old issues of TMNT and Star Trek comics. Oh the memories. The conditions were fair. I bought a couple of them. Check them out! I say you can never have enough local comic book stores. read more

Products are overpriced. I would recommend doing a price check against Amazon prior to any purchases since this location doesn't do any returns. The return policy states they stand behind their prices, but won't back it up. They refuse to even give store credit with a valid receipt and products unopened even if the products were purchased within the week. Management has terrible customer service skills. Use to go here a lot and still do! I highly recommend this business to BUY comics! I emphasize buy since I brought about 7 long boxes full of comics to the store and they didn't buy it. I UNDERSTAND that yknow they need to make a profit and stuff, but not even an offer was thrown out. I know they have a lot of comics, so yeah yeah I get that. Love this shop! Great selection of new and old comics, some awesome board games thrown in there that are always worth checking for something new to play, and an incredible selection of collectibles (outside of the comics and games) that you'll probably want to add to your shelves. I'm not a TCG player, but they've got a huge selection of cards for purchase and they've even got some offerings for the miniature fan. Their collection of hard to find comics and rare variant covers makes this place a weekly stop for that custom piece to add to your library. Picked up a Fantastic Four #32 Peach Momoko virgin variant here for a great price that I'm excited to have. read more

Would not recommend buying the prerelease kits for magic or the bundles of the latest magic sets. They charge 30 dollars for prerelease kits when you can get them for 25 dollars at Corey's. Also the bundles at Corey's were only 45 while A1 charges 50. Just figured I'd let people know so they don't get taken advantage of. read more

This place is a joke. I've frequented the Carmichael location. This place is beyond tiny, has no inventory besides new release comics and graphic novels. Plus a few Harley Quinn toys. Weak AF. Ordered cgc book that was graded but there was a chip in it which is damage. I asked them to do the re-holder and just pay for that. they said that they would open up a claim with the post office but God knows how long that will take. The manager is incredibly friendly, I believe his name is Michael. I was stopping in just to pick up a trade as a gift the other night for a friend's birthday. While I have been out of the comic/manga scene for a while Michael was able to help me pick out a perfect gift. It was when I was checking out that I noticed they held Pokemon tournaments. He was very patient despite my many questions and I hope to bring my son in for a tournament the next time I am in the area. read more

I have been to this A1 twice. I have been to their other locations multiple times and I would have to say that this one does not really compare. It is much smaller and the selection in terms of comic books are drastically reduced. I don't really no what they were aiming for as far as demographic wise, but the selection for comic books is no where near compared to the one from Roseville nor Sacramento. Although, it is still a great atmosphere. The customer service is still there and the selection for TCG is fine. Nothing too crazy IMO and nothing that wouldn't want to make me shop at their their other locations. This by far would be the last resort. Not saying this is a bad store or anything, it just doesn't live up to the other two A1 comic shops. read more
