    10oz New York Sugar Steak
    Laura M.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This place is a whole vintage vibe, from its round structure, to its decor, you truly feel like you've stepped back in time.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We had a reservation, and were seated within a few minutes of arriving. I ordered a dirty martini, which they also add pickled hot pepper juice to, which gives it a nice zip. They have blue cheese olives (you just have to ask for them, and it's a small up charge). The steaks come with a starter salad, with your choice of dressing. You can order your steak with any preparation, but we were here for the sugar steak we've heard so much about. Let me tell you - it did not disappoint! My steak was cooked to the correct temp (I ordered it rare), the broccoli was good, as was the baked potato. Overall, a delicious meal, I would absolutely come back (and maybe try one of their other steak preparations).

Since my first Bastien's Birthday years ago, this spot has been near and dear to our hearts for special occasion dinners. This Mothers' Day was the latest and possibly the greatest. [[HIGHLIGHT]]People either love or hate the 50's decor that Mad Men picked up on decades later. I'm in the former camp and like sitting upstairs most of all.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Today, we sat downstairs for the first time. Quiet and cozy with the Rat Pack looking on, the mood was chill, anticipation high.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service is consistently attentive, prompt, and friendly here. Jason greeted us warmly and followed this with soft, warm bread with Anaheim-spiced garlic butter that we could have filled up on and left happy. It's stellar. Drinks arrived quickly: my Great Divide farmhouse ale and a potent White Russian that had mom in silly mode. Mom took her salad to the woodshed. My cup of green Chile corn chowder hit the spot. We were stoked when our server from my last birthday brought our entrees. It felt like home. While the "Sugar Steak" is their calling card and a number of topping combos are available, we went for straight up beef. No regrets. Medium rare? Perfect. Mom's filet mignon torched the one I had at Gallagher's in Las Vegas a week ago--at a much better price. I tried the wagyu coulette (picanha). Unbelievably tender, it's my new Bastien's fave. Side and soup or salad come with your steak--none of the a la carte nickel-and-diming found at most steakhouses nowadays. This sets Bastien's apart. We enjoyed the twice-baked potato and white cheddar mashers. I can vouch for the loaded baked potato and French onion soup, as well. Overall, Bastien's offers unique ambiance, stellar service, solid steaks & value that fancier spots don't have. No BS service fees. It feels like they are here for you, not the other way around. Until next time...

Wow, this place was so good!!! I got the sugar steak and the grilled caesar salad. I took one bite into the sugar steak and was so amazed. It had such great flavors oozing out from the steak cut! I got the baked potato and some vegetables on the side. I also opted to get the grilled caesar salad, which was so delicious. I've never had salad grilled before so this was a unique experience, and I might try to do this on my own when I'm cooking. It was so good and it was so interesting to have to cut up my own pieces of the lettuce for the salad, but it worked and it tasted so good. Overall, I loved the food here and the staff members were so friendly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]On the wall, you can also see all the news articles and awards this place has won.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Denver and would love to go back in the future.

A legendary steakhouse in Denver that serves "sugar fired" locally sourced beef. I recommend the jalapeño cheese app and Caesar salad for starters. For an adult beverage, try the Smoked Manhattan. I had the 12 Oz dry aged ribeye. Finished with a banana coconut cream pie. All delicious and entree prices span the range to fit your budget

I've come here several times for dinner for birthdays, date nights etc. This time was for my graduation and all I put was "graduation" in the comment box when I made a reservation and they surprised me with a cheesecake!! This will always be my favorite steakhouse. The sugar steak is the only way to go!

New York Strip Sugar Steak with baked potato.
    Danny L.

Loved it! I had the New York Strip Sugar Steak with the baked potato and the house salad. The house salad was on the smaller side, but was very good. The potato, was a potato. Nothing special, nothing wrong with it either. The steak was cooked to perfection. A perfect rare all the way through. I had to try their signature sugar steak, which was great. I expected some sweetness, but it was even sweeter than I expected. I am glad I tried it, but I will be trying their other toppings next time. The little rolls with butter before dinner was probably the low point. Again, not terrible, but they are sort of hard and the herb butter is not that great. This is splitting hairs though. I will definitely be back. This is a high quality restaurant. The staff were great and it was a great experience.

I finally got the opportunity to give Bastien's, along Colfax, a try. Bastien's advertises their sugar steaks, so for my birthday dinner, I split one with my bestie. Warning - they do have a split plate fee of $14. If you order the sugar rub, rare or medium rare is the temperature your meat is cooked to. The medium rare was perfectly cooked and oh, so delicious. At first bite, you think, "who has spilled sugar on my steak?!" But, after a couple more bites, it is absolutely delightful. Since this has been one of the few businesses along Colfax that is nearing its 9th decade in business, Bastien's offer an eclectic cocktail menu with some good, old-fashioned drinks to go with their good, old-fashioned decor. I had the gimlet with my meal and yes, I thought I was on the set of Mad Men after ordering. Service was great, as one would expect in this forum. With a birthday treat to top it off, Bastien's really made my day special. Thanks!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]A classic steakhouse with all the charm! Take a walk back in time with food and service that match the decor.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The staff are clearly experience servers with a food critic worthy palate based on their recommendations and descriptions of the dishes. We started with the complimentary rolls which were soft and buttery. Then we started with bacon wrapped scallops, french onion and green chili soups. Both were flavorful and delicious. We each got steak. My husband got the special and I got the classic sugar steak. It was very good but, I thought it would have more unique flavor due to all the hype. I would go back for cocktails and try another steak option.

Thank you Kami for our delightful experience and delicious food. Friendly, timeless and glowing!

Tables available in the bar area

Wow, where do I begin? I tried making a reservation online last minute (a Friday at like 4:30) but of course nothing was available until 9pm on Resy. My husband suggested I call the place to see if we can sit and eat at the bar. I call and the guy tells me Yes, i can reserve you a table on the bar section but if you just come, it's first come, first serve at the bar. So I accept the bar area table reservation. We arrive and the ambience is so cool and vintage and authentic. We ordered some gin gimlets and a fun seasonal drink called Juniper Harvest w Empress gin, elderflower liqueur, nint, simple syrup and lime. For appetizers, we ordered the escargot. Perfect, with little crostinis and super buttery and cheesy. For mains, I ordered the blackened salmon with string fries (I was dieting and trying to avoid carbs altogether and didn't want the kitchen working extra hard!) And I subbed the grilled Caesar salad as a side (really tasty and perfectly portioned). The blackened salmon was incredible. I knew it from when I cut the first piece that it was cooked perfectly. And the flash fried spinach was TO DIE FOR. INCREDIBLE!!! My hubs ordered the NY Strip and he said it was cooked perfectly and was soooo delicious! He ordered a regular side salad and a twice baked potato which did not disappoint. We cleaned our plates shamelessly. We will definitely return the next time we're in town!!!

Bastien's was a fun spot located in the City Park/Colfax neighborhood. We were seated in the upstairs area, and it was perfect since we had our baby with us. My husband and I had heard about the sugar steaks and were excited to give it a taste. The steaks were great cuts and had great char/flavor with the sugar rub. The shoe string fries were okay, but when I stop by again, I would opt in for the steak fries-- I do wish they had a bit more salt. Lastly, I opted for the French onion soup, which was tasty, but also wished it had a bit more cheese, however, the flavor was great. We ended the night with a coconut banana pie, which is basically a banana cream pie with toasted coconut on top. This was one of the first restaurants we attended after I gave birth and it was well worth the steak!

We placed our orders at the cash register, and took a table for a relatively short wait to get our food. NADC has a limited menu, an approach that makes sense in a burger joint IMO, and I got the namesake (double) burger, an order of fries and a beer. It was $30 for that, and honestly I don't have much of a quibble with that these days, though using disposable plastic cups doesn't help the ambiance or the environment. The smash burger had great seared lacey edges, and while it was melting and hot, my top bun was still cold to the touch. The fries were really crispy, and appeared to be coated/battered to achieve further effect. There was what seemed to be more burger sauce for dipping and something akin to ketchup + that was extra tangy and reminded me of Worcestershire sauce. All in all it was good, but exceptionally one note, which I blame on an aggressive amount of salt and pepper. The pickled jalapeños, cheese and sauce didn't even register their flavor when I was eating it. And because the fries were likewise salty and there was not a typical sweet ketchup pairing, they did not help the situation. A couple of my friends enjoyed their burgers more, but they also got singles which may have changed the balance some. Beyond that, we were told they didn't have a restroom that we could use, because it's apparently downstairs and the elevator was out of service. So it wasn't a particularly great place to hang out and we needed to go elsewhere to find facilities afterwards. I would put it at 3.5 stars overall; some room for improvement.

Elevated Hospitality: A Masterclass in Event Execution at Tom's Watch Bar…read more I recently organized an event for 120 guests at Tom's Watch Bar in Denver, and the experience was nothing short of spectacular. From the initial contract phase to the final onsite execution, the team proved they are true masters of high-stakes hospitality. The Vision & Planning Working with Joanna during the planning phase was a dream. She is a consummate professional with a sharp eye for detail. She understood exactly how to translate our brand into the space, creating a custom Denver-themed digital design featuring our logo that played across every large screen. The energy it brought to the room was palpable--our Immediate Past President was so impressed she's already requested the same "wow factor" for all our future events. The Spread The catering exceeded all expectations. We opted for a diverse package that catered beautifully to everyone, including our vegetarian and vegan guests. The Savory: The mac & cheese was a crowd favorite, and the chicken tenders were perfectly crispy and moist. The loaded sliders and tater tot bar also kept the energy high throughout the evening. The Sweet: Do not miss the dessert bar. Specifically, there is a peanut butter bar with an incredible internal crunch that is absolutely addictive. The Atmosphere & Entertainment The venue layout is genius. We had a mix of indoor seating for both small and large group discussions, plus an incredible outdoor space with stunning stadium views. We brought in a third-party karaoke vendor, and the staff--Joanna, Zach and Matt--coordinated with them so seamlessly behind the scenes that I didn't have to worry about a single technical detail. Between the karaoke, Jenga, and cornhole, there was never a dull moment. The Service What truly sets this venue apart is the personal touch. Zach and Matt are absolute stars. Knowing I was busy managing the entrance and welcoming guests, they went out of their way to check in on me personally, ensuring I had food and a drink in hand. That level of care for an event organizer is rare and deeply appreciated. If you are looking for a venue that combines a high-energy atmosphere with white-glove professional service, Tom's Watch Bar is the place. Request Joanna, Zach, and Matt--you'll be in the best hands in Denver.

They had a large amount of drink options including some good beer options with tons of cocktails/full bar available as you'd expect from a sports bar.
