This was a great place to spend my birthday! The server was very knowledgeable and the food was delicious! We ordered Kobe, Wagyu, lobster, oysters, and king crab. I suggest that if someone orders multiple things, like my husband and I did, to bring them out separately so they stay warm. Our lobster was so cold when we finished our steaks. We ended up not eating it. The souffle was perfect. I was craving a souffle and D Bar in Denver closed down. I will come back for the drinks and dessert!

I love coming here as a regular. They offered a 35 ounce Tomahawk for Father's Day. The service was just outstanding like usual and food of course was out of this world delicious. The steak was perfectly cooked to my temperature. Very classy as expected and just a fabulous meal. We're glad we came, Thank you again 801!

New York Strip 14oz with a few asparagus and a tiny bit of potatoes

So my husband and I wanted to come celebrate the before new year because I have a procedure at the hospital on New Year's Eve and I wanted a steak.. we've been to several steak restaurants so 801 was on my list. The ambiance is beautiful of course 801 is in the heart of Cherry creek off 1st and connected to the elaborate mall. Our reservations were at 4:30 we got there at 4:38 and were seated right away! Our seating was so intimate and nice with the Christmas decorations so pretty. Our waitress Shantell was really nice and professional and she explained all the cuts of meat and the history behind the Wagyu beef etc. We eventually ordered our meals. To the dinner: we both ordered Caesar salads which were fresh and delicious!! I don't like anchovies so my husband took mine and he said how delicious they were - oh and don't let me forget about the warm, amazing bread and butter!!! It was perfect for my salad and Coke !!! My husband ordered prime rib, I ordered the New York 14oz and we both split the asparagus and al gratin potatoes. So how was it? It was ok. The steak could have had more flavor for the price of $68 and more heat! The potatoes should be titled Crunchy cheese potatoes because the topping of crumbled cheese/breading had our potatoes dried out. I think with the steak what would compliment it if you are going to have algratin potatoes- make sure they are made with love - thin layered potatoes with amazing cheeses and Alfredo sauce, creamy and hot when served, to help the presentation as well. The asparagus weren't bad they had a little butter taste as well. For the price of $230 it should have caused me to want more! However it allowed me the opportunity to experience the steak and yet I don't crave to come back but..... but that dang on bread and my Caesar salad was the BOMB.COM!!!!! Delicious!!! Our server made sure we had enough water and beverages and she was very pleasant so that did help the experience. Off to the next steak restaurant and check it off the list to say it's nice but love needs to be in the potatoes!!!

Came here Thursday evening after arriving in Denver. Phenomenal. Great looking restaurant and has that genuine steakhouse feel. Steaks were amazing. French onion soup best I've ever had. Scalloped potatoes top notch. Wish I had room for dessert. Our server was great. I think his name was Jacob. Very nice guy and great service. Everything was perfect. Highly recommend and will be back.

I took a date here for dinner on a Thursday night. Made reservations online and we were seated right away. I don't like valet so I found paid parking in the lot nearby and the restaurant validated it so parking was free. Our waitress Anastasia (sp?) was awesome, super friendly and gave good recommendations for the Australian Wagyu steak. She presented us the different options and she helped us pick our steaks. My date got the Australian Wagyu medium. I tasted it and it was tasty but I've had better Wagyu. I ordered the 12 oz filet mignon medium rare and it was cooked to perfection. I found my filet tasting delicious. We also got some cocktails and french onion soup for her and lobster bisque for me. They used real lobster chunks which was really tasty. Prices were expensive but as I expected so it wasn't actually bad. Decor of the restaurant was really elegant with a lot of Picasso style drawings of different cows/bulls. There's also a huge gold bull in the center that was a nice center piece for the restaurant.

I'm deeply grateful to everyone who sent warm birthday wishes my way. Every thoughtful word and gesture filled my heart with joy and appreciation. To my special friend, thank you for an unforgettable night out, complete with a mouthwatering steak dinner, cigars, and drinks - you truly made this birthday one for the books. Thank you very, very much. As ( Chef Big House )The 801 Chophouse is one of the most incredible experiences I've ever had. The service was exceptional, the food quality was top-notch, and the behind-the-scenes tour of the kitchen was absolutely amazing. I highly recommend it.

Came here for my dad's birthday on a Monday night. I made a reservation on opentable however it was fairly empty, so they were able to take us a bit early. I had mentioned in the reservation that it was my dad's birthday and they had confetti on the table, with a birthday menu and gave him a free birthday dessert. Talk about above and beyond! The front entrance was a tad weird with the curtain but I loved the vibe in the restaurant. Great for an intimate meal or business function. Valet is right out front as well. Shana was our waitress, and she was amazing! Gave us a meat tour to explain the different cuts. My parents aren't big drinkers, so this meal was all about the food. The bone marrow was quite plentiful, I didn't need a started, but I did start with the French onion soup and was stuffed. Hands down the best item we had was the petite filet and the scalloped potatoes! For three people having a starter, with three mains and two side would be enough. We had two starters and three sides which was alot and we had a ton of leftovers. *Love the fact the steak is not cooked in butter! We were very impressed and I plan on coming back for special occasions. Overall Strong 5/5 stars!

I can't say enough good things about this establishment. Brandon was a top notch waiter and provided attentive, kind and informative service. We went here for my dad's birthday and they gave us a private room and special menus for the occasion as a surprise and at no extra cost. The complimentary sourdough bread and butter was the perfect start to a wonderful meal. We chose a bottle of the Duckhorn Merlot which was great. The lobster bisque was creamy and delicious with several large chunks of lobster. The wedge salad was good but it had way too much dressing on it for my taste however the large bacon pieces on it were amazing. I had the dry aged bone in New York strip with bone marrow butter. The steak was perfectly cooked and the bone marrow butter added a wonderful earthy flavor and richness to the meat. The espresso martini was simply to die for and the chocolate soufflé was an amazing end to a great experience with its light chocolatey flavor and several delicious syrups. My family are steakhouse aficionados and they deemed this one of the best steakhouses they have ever been to in the Denver area - which is saying a lot. We will absolutely be back for special occasions and hopefully a date night here and there. Be prepared to spend big when you come here but I promise it will be worth every penny.

I had a conference in Denver and needed to get away and relax with good food. After a quick Google search 801 popped up. I was solo so I sat at the bar and the awesome bar team took care of me. I had the 801 Manhattan and it was fantastic! Loved the black walnut bitters. For dinner I had the NY Strip and creamed spinach. Everything was cooked perfectly and was delicious. I had the staff recommend a red wine and they brought 3 to sample. Truly a wonderful experience from start to finish. When traveling I love having a great bar experience with good drinks, food and conversation.

This is definitely a special occasion type place for me. I went as one of a small group and we were fortunate to try a few of the items on the menu: Apps: Octopus - served with patatas bravas, the texture of the octopus was just perfect and melted in my mouth. The papatas bravas supported the dish but were delicious and not overlooked Bone Marrow - looked like something straight out of a Flintstone's cartoon. So delicious with the toast points Steak Tartare - done perfectly, delicious with the mustard served on the side Salad: Chophouse Salad - underwhelmed. The ratio of ingredients just did not work Steak: Filet. I went with the 12 oz cooked medium rare and was also underwhelmed. The outside was a bit too chewy and left a burnt meat after taste. The others at my table were pleased with their selections so maybe mine was an anomaly... Dessert: Chocolate cake and souffle Both done very well and reason enough to come to this restaurant. Service: stellar throughout

    Price of Sunday supper?

No this place is very expensive. Waygu is $40/oz with a minimum of 4 oz. Kobe is $60/oz.

    Parking tips please?

You can park in front of the area near CPK. There's a gate and you take a ticket and can get it validated

Celebrated a big business success recently and decided to go whole hog (is that even a saying these…read moredays?:) on a dining-extravaganza. Decided on A5 because 1) it's got some great appetizers / starters, 2) love the servers there, and 3) was in the mood to chow down on a hunka-chunka serious steak, and for the first time get a tomahawk slab o' beef that I had seen before on the A5 menu. Came in early on a Thursday night (6:15 pm) so the place was losing its happy hour crowd and had not yet been swooped down on by the hip dinner crowd. A great time to go. Could not have been better. Started with their crab and shrimp dip app and Japanese milk bread, both of which are stand-out non-steak items on their menu. Ordered the tomahawk steak which is ridiculously large (over 40 ounces (10 of which is from the large rib bone)) and ridiculously good (and ridiculously expensive . . . as in like over $225), along with an order of asparagus. Loved it all. Of course, we split the steak and had no room for dessert. Brought home probably 10 ounces of meat along with some other leftovers which will give us another night of good at-home eating. Bottom line . . . wonderful experience. Pricey but they made it a true celebration for us and it was well worth it. Go. You'll have a great time there, and if you don't want to blow a bundle and its your first time at A5, check them out at happy hour. It's probably the best deal for the best HH food in Denver.

We started with the burrata, and I'm not exaggerating when I say it was the BEST burrata I've ever had. Not the best in Denver. The best, period. Backed that up with a solid salad, then moved into a homemade pasta with ragù that had no business being that good. Finished with dessert and walked out wondering why we'd even bothered with Utria in the first place. Here is the thing though... sometimes you need a bad experience to land in the right place. Tavernetta didn't need our five stars: but it earned them anyway.

It was hands down the best thing we had and some of the other items we ordered were amazing too. If you're going to order anything here, do the burrata with the focaccia bread. You can thank me later. Next up, we had the carpaccio and crudo with caviar. If I had to choose only one, I would pick the carpaccio but the crudo with caviar is great. Freddie recommended the crudo with caviar and what a wonderful harmony of flavors. These were both standout winners. And the carpaccio meat was incredibly soft. Best carpaccio I've ever had, and I love carpaccio. Last, we had the paglia e fieno (rabbit ragu) and branzino. The branzino was the item I was most excited to try leading to our reservation and it was the item I liked the least. I am a huge branzino fan and order it any place that has it. This was probably my least liked branzino I have had. The olive sauce was just way too strong for this fish. The fish itself was beautiful but I couldn't get past the sauce. I would pass on this, even if you like olives. The rabbit ragu really surprised me and it was my 3rd favorite thing we ordered. I would definitely order that again. We passed on dessert since we were full and nothing sounded too good. We did valet at the hotel next door. I immediately told my friends this was one of the best Denver restaurants we've had. The service was outstanding too. Freddie had the best recommendations and took great care of us.

Very cool!! The food was good but not great. For the price, I'd expect something a little better but the beef tenderloin was cooked exactly the way I ordered it (complete with peppercorn crust). It was tender but maybe a bit dryer than I like for a filet. The peppercorn crust was amazing! The Saratoga chips are made in house and they are very good as well. Super crispy with the right amount of salt. We got a history lesson from one of the servers, about 10min worth of backstory about the restaurant and it was almost like dinner and a show. Parking is a bit tight if they're busy but it's downtown Denver so that's typical. Other than the price being a bit high for the quality, this place is a good time and a good meal.

This was by far the worst part of our trip to Denver... be warned. Parking: There is free parking in the back of the building. When we first walked in we were greeted and brought to our reserved tables upstairs. If you decide to try this place, get a reservation and do downstairs. There is so much more to look at downstairs! Instead, we were brought to a backroom that was much cooler(in temp) and had way less to look at... we felt "put into the corner." It was busy, and it appeared they were short staffed. It took a long time for our server to get to us. She was very sweet and I definitely felt for her, she was really trying! However, it took awhile to get our drinks, the complimentary bread came out after our appetizer and house salads... anything complimentary should come out right away. The food: We got the Rocky Mountain oysters and I actually thought they were good! The cocktail sauce is very tomato forward and the "horseradish sauce" was a joke! There was absolutely no flavor and I am convinced it was just sour cream! If you do order these, ask for their ranch- it was dill flavored and delicious! The house salad was good But wet... like I had water on my plate. If you want a Caesar Salad it will cost an extra 7.50!!!!!!!!! Why!? That doesn't make any sense! The complimentary sourdough was good but the whipped butter had no taste at all... we had to sprinkle some salt on it for it to actually taste decent. We got the New York strip 16oz and the Elk steaks. The New York strip was the worst steak we have ever had! It was supposed to be cooked to a medium but was definitely closer to a medium rare. The butter on top did not have any flavor and was pointless. It had a fair amount of fat on it and the crust tasted "ashy" to us. It was expensive so we ate it, but terrible! The mashed potatoes were not mashed well! I had a whole potato in it! The veggies were mushy and overcooked. The elk steaks were actually very good! I would recommend that! The wild rice was brown rice with a few wild rice pieces... and again mushy veggies! The total price for one alcoholic drink, one bottled soda, a half order of Rocky Mountain oysters, the New York strip and elk steaks was over $200 with tip. We went to the restrooms afterwards and they were disgusting and dirty! If we are spending over $200 on a meal it better be great service, food and ambiance! This missed the mark HEAVILY! If you do feel the need to go here, get a table downstairs, make a reservation, get the Rocky Mountain oysters with the dill ranch and the elk steaks.

People either love or hate the 50's decor that Mad Men picked up on decades later. I'm in the former camp and like sitting upstairs most of all. Today, we sat downstairs for the first time. Quiet and cozy with the Rat Pack looking on, the mood was chill, anticipation high. Service is consistently attentive, prompt, and friendly here. Jason greeted us warmly and followed this with soft, warm bread with Anaheim-spiced garlic butter that we could have filled up on and left happy. It's stellar. Drinks arrived quickly: my Great Divide farmhouse ale and a potent White Russian that had mom in silly mode. Mom took her salad to the woodshed. My cup of green Chile corn chowder hit the spot. We were stoked when our server from my last birthday brought our entrees. It felt like home. While the "Sugar Steak" is their calling card and a number of topping combos are available, we went for straight up beef. No regrets. Medium rare? Perfect. Mom's filet mignon torched the one I had at Gallagher's in Las Vegas a week ago--at a much better price. I tried the wagyu coulette (picanha). Unbelievably tender, it's my new Bastien's fave. Side and soup or salad come with your steak--none of the a la carte nickel-and-diming found at most steakhouses nowadays. This sets Bastien's apart. We enjoyed the twice-baked potato and white cheddar mashers. I can vouch for the loaded baked potato and French onion soup, as well. Overall, Bastien's offers unique ambiance, stellar service, solid steaks & value that fancier spots don't have. No BS service fees. It feels like they are here for you, not the other way around. The restaurant was not busy and the one waitress was MIA during most of the service. We studied the menu and started with a smoked fish dip. This was unique with aioli, cilantro, pickled jalepenos, lemon and over-the-top plantain chips. I easily could of eaten a huge bowl of the plantain chips, incredible! The sweet corn empanada with aji amarillo, avocado puree, manchego cheese and chimichurri that was light, savory and a nice flavor profile. Our final selection was the Cusco chicken sandwich with sweet plantains, salad, avacado and chimichurri aioli. The plantain was delicious and woke up an ordinary chicken sandwich. It was a great addition. I enjoyed our lunch but feel that I need to try the dinner menu. The mixing of fruit with entrees was a welcome change. To the kitchen at Toro, keep up the innovative menu.

The visit started off rocky but she sure knew how to make it a memorable experience. She is definitely the right person in her position. The food was amazing, the drinks were amazing, & the gal (she has short brownish blondish hair & a smile and attitude to remember... she genuinely cared both times) who melted our butter not only this time but last time was such a wonderful cherry on top. We will return to this establishment and definitely recommend.

They timed our pre-ordered apps perfectly and cleared the table right on cue for the tomahawk steaks and sides. Our birthday girl had a great time. We brought a cake, but since it's $5 per person to cut and serve, we boxed it up instead. The restaurant is definitely a vibe perfect for a girls night out and not too far to walk down market street (or uber/lyft) to the bars. For larger groups, the "private" open seating area requires a $2,000 minimum spend with a $1,000 deposit to book. Parking is easy with garage validation next door or valet available. Keep in mind valet will end when the restaurant closes so if you plan to stay out later, let valet know and you can pay so that you have your key to take your car at the end of the night. Super kind guy by the way!

After reading other reviews and checking out photos beforehand, I knew the Colorado lamb was a must-order. It's not something I usually go for, but it ended up being my favorite dish of the night. Absolutely worth the hype. We also ordered the birria short rib and hickory smoked picanha, and both were solid choices. The shrimp and corn grits were amazing, and I really loved the aged cheddar mac and cheese. Other dishes like the chickpea croquettes and the chili relleno were also pretty good and rounded out the meal nicely. The wait staff was fantastic. Super friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. The restaurant itself has a cool, lively vibe. The only minor downside was that the outdoor heaters were a bit too hot, but that's a very small nitpick. Overall, an easy 5 out of 5 stars. Great food, great service, and a place I'd happily come back to.

For an appetizer, two meats, two sides, and dessert, our total came out to $88, which felt like a great value for the quality. Overall, it left a really good impression and we'd definitely come back again.
