We're visiting Seattle for a few days and staying at the Maxwell Hotel, so Basilic ended up being an easy walk from where we are staying. The good reviews and location were the two reasons we decided to try it. Would I go back? No. And not because we're not local. Nothing about the experience felt especially "signature." We ordered the Pad See Iew and Crispy Garlic Chicken (served with rice). The chicken dish was the better of the two, which surprised me because Pad See Iew is usually my go-to. I asked if they had Chinese broccoli, which is pretty standard and gives the dish more character, but they didn't . We ordered a level 2 spice, and the heat was definitely there, which is a good thing! The biggest downside was the service. There was only one person working, handling both dine in tables and a steady stream of to-go orders. It was clear customers were frustrated with the lack of attentiveness. Overall, not a terrible experience, but not a memorable one either.

We walked into the restaurant and waited a few minutes to be sat. There was only one worker up front, running tables, food, and seating. The worker was nice, and after we were sat, took our order pretty quickly. We knew we wanted to try the crispy garlic chicken. So we got that, plus Beef Pad See Iew. The food came pretty quick, it was nice and hot. The Beef Pad See Iew had a decent flavor to it, but not out of this world. We ordered level 2 spicy, and it seemed like they might have forgotten, which I didn't complain about! The crispy garlic chicken was nice and crispy, but the garlic flavoring was a little lacking. I think it was overpowered by the level 2 spice. Overall decent experience and the food was hot and fresh!

Small place near Seattle Center. My partner and I came here after the No Kings protest and were able to be seated pretty quickly for it being so busy. The restaurant is small but busy. The prices are very reasonable for Seattle. We plan to come again soon and try the duck curry and pad Thai next. Crab fried rice: 4.5/5, very tasty, wish there was more crab Tofu Red curry: 5/5, my partner is so picky about Thai curry but we both loved this one Thai tea: 5/5, yummy, creamy

We are so glad we came across this Thai food restaurant during our trip to Seattle. Service was quick and the server answered our questions thoroughly and provided recommendations about menu items. My family and I ordered different plates to share: the green curry with chicken and jasmine rice, pad kee mao with steak, and the crispy garlic chicken. Everything was deliciously cooked to perfection. Curry was aromatic and comforting. We also had the mango sticky rice - perfect way to end dinner!

I was staying at the Maxwell and one of the nights I needed to get a little more food. I heard people raving about the Thai place right next to the Maxwell so I figured I might as well order from there. It was a short walk to the restaurant and after walking up a flight of stairs there was a restaurant entrance to the left and a little more in, a take out ordering window. I ordered my usual which is vegetarian green curry and tofu. The lady was really nice and asked why I didn't sit inside. I said I was just taking out and next time I would eat inside. She said, ok 25 minutes, leave and come back hahahaha. OK so I left. 25 mins later I picked up my food. Went back to the Maxwell and had a tasty green curry. It was great but IMO a little sweet. Otherwise, it was a nice meal to finish off the day. No complaints. I heard the papaya salad and chicken dishes were amazing.

Pad Thai with Shrimp (3 stars) - really sweet

This Thai restaurant is walking distance from the Seattle Center MPOP and main Children's Playground. Parking around Seattle Center could cost $20-$35 for an all-day pass in one of the nearby garages or above-ground lots. Usually you don't get in-and-out privileges. So it's important to identify food options in the vicinity. We did not know the nearby Armory inside the Seattle Center has a big food court. The restaurant requires some stairs and it has an unusual layout with bathrooms near the front and main dining room on the side. There was just one waitress/host so service is a bit less attentive though friendly. The food itself is okay. The best dish was the Chicken Satay, with moist and juicy meat. The other dishes had some minor dings: 1. Tom Yum soup had great coconut flavors with basil and galangal but the chicken was way too dry. Dark meat seems to work better here I think. 2. Thai BBQ had good flavors but the texture could have been more tender 3. Shrimp Pad Thai was way too sweet I think, though my parents liked it.

My son and I met for an early dinner here before taking in the John Cleese show at McCaw Hall and thought it was a great way to start the evening. We arrived earlier than usual for us -- about 5:30 -- and it was a good thing. We were one of only a few occupied tables, but that was about to change quickly. The one server on duty was quick to bring water and menus and take our drink and appetizer orders (Thai iced coffee and fresh rolls with prawns and Thai peanut sauce). By the time we got around to ordering our entrees, I could tell the kitchen was getting "in the weeds" quickly. I chose Panang Curry with Chicken while my son opted for Nam Tok Beef -- grilled flat iron steak with a sauce that I'd describe as a Thai chimichurri. My dish arrived first, so we tucked in family-style, sharing what was on the table and the moment, then sharing the beef when it arrived several minutes later. Both were delicious and, at two stars, just the right level of heat for us. By this time, the place was packed and the server was literally running to keep up, but she was very attentive despite the challenges. Don't know whether it's a family-run place and there is no one else or another server called off, but she was great. Also did a good job of communicating, though she was soft-spoken and the place was getting fairly loud. Especially if you're attending an event at McCaw Hall or nearby, I'd definitely check this place out, but be sure to make a reservation first.

This is another solid Thai spot, which is very conveniently located to my apartment. This means that it is quite close to the Space Needle. It is easy to order on their website and come pick up. I usually get the Traditional Pad Thai and the portions are always huge, it will always last me two meals.

I loved this restaurant. Some of my favorite food in the city. The atmosphere is extremely cozy. The service was great. We got a variety of dishes to try and loved every single one. Will definitely be coming back!

Pad Thai is a staple and was good, but if you want something that has a ton of flavor and a nice mix of noodles and veggies, check out their drunken noodle dish Pad Kee Mao. They have locations both in Downtown Seattle and Greenlake, but I have only been to their Downtown Seattle location which has a beautiful view of the Puget Sound. The atmosphere is dark, trendy, and modern- perfect for a date night or nice evening out. While they are a white table cloth, sit-down restaurant, you can dress casually or dress up a bit - both are completely acceptable. This most recent visit I ordered the COCONUT PANANG CURRY with chicken ($25.95) and my friend ordered her favorite dish, SALMON GARLIC FRIED RICE ($28.95). On a past visit, I've had their CLAY POT SHRIMP & GLASS NOODLES (KOONG OB WOONSEN) ($27.95) which was absolutely fantastic and has had me hooked on Pad Woonsen ever since! I saw the COCONUT PANANG CURRY recently in my Instagram feed and knew I had to get it. It is served in a whole coconut (yes a real, fresh coconut!) and comes with a champagne flute of fresh coconut juice from the coconut they hollowed out and a side of Jasmine rice. The curry was rich, flavorful, and full of Thai basil and peppers. The coconut juice was light and refreshing and a great contrast to the thick curry. The SALMON GARLIC FRIED RICE (which I've sampled before), is gigantic, aromatic, and served with a giant grilled garlic butter fillet of salmon on top. The salmon is extremely moist, oily, and bursting with flavor. The rice is fragrant and has garlic paste, red bell pepper, carrots, and green onion. If you're looking for a tasty and protein-packed meal, this is the dish! Parking is honestly tough in this area as it's located on 1st. They have limited street parking and a few paid parking garage options around. I recommend light railing or Ubering here if you're not already in the downtown Seattle area. Service is always great and we always get our food quickly, no matter how crowded they are. The staff also take the time to check up on your table during your meal. The place is gorgeous, especially the patio, and the staff were absolute pros at wrangling us to a table. The meal was a hit across the board: my husband's tofu curry and my daughter's drunken noodles and rolls were all fantastic. My fresh tofu soup was admittedly a bit "Zen" (read: plain), but I'm a fan of that understated vibe. The real star, though? The black rice pudding. It was so good I actually stopped to admire the decorative bowl it came in--a sign of a truly elite dessert. My son, however, ordered the fried chicken and was thrown into a brief existential crisis when it arrived with a sweet sauce. He was fully prepared for a savory-crunchy showdown, and the menu wording clearly didn't get the memo. He's still recovering, but the rest of us left very happy.

The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and we were looking forward to the bold flavors we've come to love. The visit started off a bit oddly. The front desk server, Tar, asked to see my wife's ID--even though she's 36 years old and we weren't seated in the bar area. It felt inconsistent, especially since younger guests nearby weren't asked, and it's something we've never experienced at their other locations. Unfortunately, moments like that made us feel singled out, and honestly it sometimes feels like they tend to pick on Asians, whether intentional or not. That feeling alone made the experience uncomfortable and will likely make this our last visit to this location. That said, the table service was excellent. Moo took great care of us, and Cece from the bar was attentive and kept our water filled throughout the meal. Unfortunately, there were a few moments that took away from the experience. While I was taking photos of our dishes, a young staff member alongside Tar appeared to be giggling and mocking me, which made things uncomfortable. It may not have been intentional, but it didn't feel professional and only added to the awkward atmosphere we already felt. Food-wise, there were some inconsistencies. The chicken didn't taste as good as we remember, and several plates had visible fingerprints, which was off-putting. The galvanized metal plates also gave off a slightly unrefined feel--more like cafeteria-style serving ware. Additionally, the sticky rice, which is usually presented in a traditional bamboo basket, was served in a Ziploc bag, which felt like a downgrade in presentation. On a positive note, the papaya salad and pad Thai were still very good and delivered the flavors we expect. We'll continue supporting Isarn, but we'll likely return to the Kirkland or Lynnwood locations next time. Sadly, after this experience, this Queen Anne visit will probably be our last.
